Had some lunch at this out of the way cafe in Dorchester, the staff were attentive and welcoming The local produce of cheese ham dorset chutney on granary bread was delicious as were the cheese chips and accompanied with a pot of tea The only downside was it was a little too crowded in the cafe with seating and tables close by We’d definitely return for lunch

I often have lunch at Potter's and can honestly say they're an absolute delight. Always a happy smile, a welcome greeting and delicious food. Have you SEEN the size of those cakes?!?! I had the Ham Hock today, and for £7.50 there simply wasn't room for dessert which was a shame because have you SEEN those cakes?!

This restaurant always has a Specials Board in the window and I always decide where I am eating by checking the day's offerings. On this occasion my attention was grabbed by the offer of a mushroom and chestnut, in a cheese sauce, pancake. A new offering for me. I do not feel able to describe the meal other than to describe it as delicious. Also available was their lamb tagine with couscous, a dish I have partaken of before, and I strongly commend it. I have never had an issue with the service there, efficient and attentive, without being intrusive.

Potters is my favourite place in town to get coffee, food & cakes. I’ve tried other places, but for me nothing compares to Potters. The staff are all incredibly friendly & very efficient, especially when it’s busy. I never wait long for an order, and it all comes hot & fresh. The food is really delicious, especially their club sandwiches & jacket potatoes. The coffee is exceptional. I could drink their hazelnut latte every day for the rest of my life. The atmosphere is very cosy and welcoming, it’s warm & comfortable inside and refreshing outside in the garden. All my love to this gem!

Excellent. We found this cafe just off the High Street, thus avoiding all the chain coffee shops. The reward was a fabulous English Breakfast, although the bacon Baguette was rather disappointing. Friendly efficient service from a good staff team, and a refund on car parking were added bonuses, and we left pleased to recommend to others.

I wanted to share with you all a delightful café in Dorchester that I have been frequenting recently. It offers a wonderful breakfast experience that I highly recommend. One of the highlights is their vegetarian English breakfast, which is absolutely delicious. The portion size is generous, and the taste is amazing. It is a truly satisfying breakfast option, especially recommended for vegetarians. To my meal, I tried their hot chocolate with whipped cream and mini marshmallows, which they make with so much love! What makes my visits even better is the friendly and welcoming staff. I have gotten to know Sara, the owner, quite well, and she is truly fantastic. She has a warm and inviting personality, and her attentiveness makes the experience feel personal. It is evident that the staff genuinely cares about their customers. The café itself has a lovely atmosphere. The outdoor space is peaceful and adorned with greenery, creating a tranquil ambiance. Inside, there is ample seating, including an upstairs area, which provides enough room for larger groups. It is a comfortable and spacious setting. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this café for a pleasant breakfast experience in Dorchester. The food is tasty, the staff is friendly, and the ambiance is inviting. I have been visiting this café frequently and my positive review remains the same. If you are looking for a lovely spot to enjoy a good meal, definitely give this café a try.

New to Dorchester, we went into the first cafe we saw after parking – Potters (just near entrance Waitrose). Food came quickly and was delicious. We sat upstairs, where there was more room. Nice atmosphere. Icing on the cake was that when I pointed out the newspapers in the rck wer a bit, er, old.... the owner asked what paper I like to read and then went out and bought one for me! (I promised to leave it back in the rack when we left.) Altogether impressed. WiFi worked well (though the password is a bit fiddly – could be shortened and simplified). Will be back.

The meals were totally delicious and Sara even let me have their recipe for the Tagine! If you want one the best daytime bistro cafes in Dorchester, this is the place! It is even dog friendly. A friend and I thought we’d try this cafe for a light lunch. Not knowing the lay out we sat just inside the door but soon learnt that the door was often left open with customers coming and going. Once we realised this we moved to a table in the centre thinking this would be warmer. Unfortunately we hadn’t realised that there was a ‘staff’ door open behind us which meant that we were now sitting in a through draft! We had a lovely hot bowl of soup but this was spoilt by feeling chilly and uncomfortable. Had we realised there was upstairs seating we would probably have moved up there in the hope that it’d be warmer. Not a good experience on a first visit so it will most likely be our last. Sorry.

Tucked away in a lane slightly off the main shopping street lies a small but perfectly formed cafe. It appears to cater for all seasons with a patio garden in the summer or inside for the other eleven months of the year.We pitched up on a particularly inclement day. The rain was torrential, the wind had eased to a force eight gale, you could have surfed down the High Street. Then we stepped into the haven of Potters. It was warm and welcoming. Most of the tables were covered so there was a nice buzz of chatter. Table staff were friendly and efficient. Everything you need for an impromptu lunch. The specials on the board looked enticing, I could have gone for the kippers but another evening engagement meant that restraint was called for. Jacket potato stuffed with tuna and mayo was just right. A small salad accompanied along with a good cup of coffee. If you are hungry in Dorchester seek out Potters. A very pleasant little cafe that I stopped in for coffee and cakes the other day. We had very nice cake, carrot and Dorset apple cake and a good filter coffee. The lunch menu looks very nice and slightly different from the norm. The meals we saw come out look tasty and a good size, especially the sweet potato fries.

The food is hot and plenty of it. We would have liked to sit in the garden terrace area but it was full up. However, the seating inside is fine. A good menu selection and at a reasonable price. Although the cafe is tucked away it has a good reputation so locals know to go there.

Popped into Potters on Saturday with friends for lunch. We all had a light lunch due to the heat, plus drinks and ice cream. Very reasonable priced, quick service with a smile - very important. Got home to realise that we had left a shopping bag behind. Phoned the day later, and they had found the bag and put it away safely. Thank you for being so helpful. Will be back again next time in Dorchester.

On a visit to Dorchester we dropped in for coffee. It was fine although the service was a bit slow. Decor was tired looking. I would not go back - I would try other places in town.

We had an incredible experience at the Cross Keys. Mo and his team hosted my Father's funeral wake yesterday. The whole experience was incredible - made so special by Mo, Lucy, David and the girls. Nothing was too much trouble, and we felt completely wrapped up in their arms from the moment we walked through the door to make the arrangements, right through to the day itself. I cannot thank the team enough for creating such a special celebration, which you planned so incredibly well. The delicious food platters were superb, and all the guests said what a beautiful venue it was. I was personally nurtured throughout the whole day, with Mo and Lucy checking in with me to make sure everything was perfect - and even David coming in on his day off to make sure my Dad's favourite music was being played. I can't thank them all enough from the bottom of my heart for all their kindness. We stayed in their family suite for the night. Our room was superb, with the biggest bed I've ever slept in, and beautiful views out onto the market square and the Conduit. I can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Cross Keys - the service is exceptional, the rooms amazing, and the breakfast was superb. We also had our evening meal in the restaurant, and it was exceptional. THANK YOU TO THE WHOLE TEAM AT THE CROSS KEYS - YOU ARE ALL AMAZING.

The venue is gorgeous, all the staff attentive, friendly, brilliant and went above and beyond, the food amazing and delicious ❤️🥳 Couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate with friends and family (it was so good, forgot to take many photoks)!! Would 100% recommend to anyone. You deserve all the recognition. Thank you x

We came with friends as we had all been gifted afternoon tea, and chose to visit this tearoom. We booked just over a week in advance. What a great choice! A great selection of beautifully fresh finger sandwiches, scones, cream and jam. and a selection of small cakes, which were so light. Absolutely scrumptious. We weren't rushed, so we could sit and enjoy our food. The folk working in the tearoom were very welcoming and we had a delightful afternoon. Thank you!
