Lovely cafe. My son lives in Ribchester and had recommended we visit the cafe while we were there for a few days. We had coffee, smoothie and cakes all of which were really nice. We sat outside in the garden as the weather was sunny. The staff were lovely and very friendly. Will definitely be visiting again maybe for lunch next time.

We visited here several years ago and went back today. We had a lovely lunch sat outside in the sun. Our food, a jacket potato and a sandwich were lovely and came with really tasty salad and coleslaw. The young man who served us was so nice and we could see he was like that with all the customers he dealt with. We will not leave it so long until we go again. Maybe go earlier so we can try out the breakfast menu.

Great cafe with a varied menu of food and drinks. Food was really tasty, with good portions and great value. Felt very homely sat on a table in front of the coal fire. Service was good. I would anticipate it getting really busy at times so reservations maybe necessary

My wife and I called in for lunch. Despite not having booked, the staff made us feel really welcome, and soon we were seated in the small secluded garden. The menu is varied and we were hard-pressed to choose- everything sounded delicious. Finally, we both settled for one of the specials; the Ploughmans. When it arrived, it was as good as we had hoped, loads of ham, two sausage rolls, three different local cheeses, salad and chutney. The location of the cafe is perfect, located near both the car park and the Roman museum and bath house ruins. The staff were competent, professional and freindly- what more can we say. we will be back, hopefully very soon.

We have been to a few pottery painting parties here and had a really good time so we decided to paint and eat here ourselves over the holidays. The food is really tasty and it is a lovely little setting and I am so glad it does well for itself. The major let down of the barn, and what I have experienced each time we have visited and from comments from other people who have been- is how brusque and candid the owner can be- to both paying customers and staff. I honestly can’t believe there aren’t more comments about it on here. I realise you are busy and people may accidentally get in the way when they walk into the small entrance, or ask you for the price of something, but just be patient and kind to people- we very nearly walked back out the way we were greeted when we arrived and this really does put me off returning which is such a shame.

After visiting the churchyard and taking a dog walk down by the lovely river , I decided to stop off at the barn to grab a drink. I was pleasantly surprised that the barn was dog friendly both outside and inside, so I took a nice comfy sofa seat by the window. Came here for lunch with our toddler. Lovely setting and we thought we had found a fab little cafe. Unfortunately we were very wrong. We ordered to paininis which were nice enough but a bit small and a cheese sandwich for the toddler. The sandwich was made with a crust of bread which apart being laughable would have been extremely difficult for a toddler to chew through. I sent this back and the next sandwich that came was warm. They had clearly defrosted the bread in a microwave and the cheese was semi melted on it. It was appalling. When I sent this back i told them it was warm and that we had now been waiting 40 minutes for 2 panini's and a sandwich. I was told by the waitress that they were very busy as 2 members of staff had called in sick and they had served 80 people today. I'm the paying customer. I couldn't care less what your staffing situation is. My priority was getting my hungry child fed and it's not easy entertaining a toddler for that long in that situation. Not got enough staff then inform people there will be a wait or don't be greedy and stop doing take out so the staff can keep up. Pretty sure we were over charged as well but by this time my toddler was long overdue her nap so I just paid and left.

What to do with a four year old on a rainy half term Tuesday?! I decided to revisit Potters Barn, which I'd previously been to with a friend for coffee and cake, and find out what the painting was all about. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly owner who, despite a packed café, found us a place to paint upstairs. I ordered one of the delicious flat whites and a babyccino for the nipper. We shared a piece of chocolate smartie cake - plenty for the two of us. There was a wide variety of pottery choice of items for children to paint - from inexpensive egg cups to large bowls. My little boy chose a racing car and we were given plenty of advice and tips about what to do and how to get the best results. There was wifi for me whilst he painted. The barn was busy upstairs and down with all manner of diners and grandparents/parents with children enjoying this fabulous activity. Three hours and three coats of paint later we had a bright red racing car which was taken by the staff to be glazed and painted; it was to be picked up a week later.I can't recommend this place enough: the coffee is delicious (and fairtrade); the homemade cakes are freshly baked, the fire is roaring and the owner very accommodating. It's a real jewel in Ribchester's crown.

Came on a return visit here and felt really disappointed when leaving. The place wasn’t very clean and tidy and it seemed to have lots of dirty things left lying about. We had the full breakfast and a jacket Potato. The breakfast was very mediocre and not very value for money with only 1 egg, 2 sausage, 2 rashes of bacon and a few beans. The jacket potato was very hard and the cheese had mould on. Such a shame as we had returned because our previous visit was so good! Hopefully they pick up on this and improve for future guests.

Found this place whilst staying for the weekend in Ribchester, so good we visited twice. Our first visit was for lunch and it was really busy with it being Mothers day weekend but they found a table for the 4 of us. The food was excellent, fresh, quality ingredients, made to order and a good selection (the cakes looked amazing but we were too full to try one). We loved how the food was served with some of it in little heart shaped ramekins, children's hot chocolate in small tea cups, milkshakes served in milk bottles, the extra effort to detail makes it stand out. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you.We enjoyed it so much we went for breakfast on our last day in Ribchester, literally waiting outside for it to open. The breakfast was one of the best we have had, we ae fussy egg eaters but they accommodated our request for a well done egg and yolk only for the other one without a fuss and cooked them as we had asked, my son said it was the best sausage sandwich he has ever had.

We stopped here for lunch after making a small diversion into Ribchester to visit the Roman Museum when travelling to Clitheroe for an overnight stay. The cafe is very cosy, staff very welcoming and food was in our opinion delicious. My wife enjoyed sardines on very thick, hand cut toasted bread with a tomato chutney and salad. I had pate on toast with salad and coleslaw. I was served lots of toast and two types of pate - chicken liver with brandy and herbs; and stilton and cranberry. Both were excellent (must admit I was a bit dubious about the stilton one until I tasted it - sweetness of the cranberry softened the stron flavour and saltiness of the stilton and I'll be looking up a recipe to see if we can make this ourselves). My wife also picked up a couple of early Chrismas presents from the gift shop upstairs. I've seen some reviews complaining about the price of the food - it's not cheap, but what we had was excellent quality and I didn't feel that around £12 for the two lunches was unreasonable.

My husband and I stopped for a little lunch along with our 4 month old. It was our first visit but it certainly won’t be our last, even though space was limited we were made to feel so welcome and a place was found for us and our pram. The menu is extensive plus daily specials are on a chalk board on the wall. My husband enjoyed the chilli con carni served with sour cream and tortilla chips, the portion was generous, very tasty and steaming hot. I opted for one of the specials ‘patchwork pate’ which included roasted salmon pate and chicken & orange pate. Served with coleslaw, salad toast and some lovely home baked spelt biscuits. Service was very attentive throughout. Our reason for the visit was to decorate some pottery with our daughter’s feet, again the staff couldn’t have been more helpful we selected the pottery we wanted and were given paints, brushes etc to complete it we were also given some invaluable tips on how to get the best effect. We’ll certainly be coming back. Dogs are also welcome and we offered blankets to sleep on the flag floor. There is plenty of seating for warmer days and a take away shop if you don’t have time to stay.

Came last week to paint a Christmas Decoration by way of entertaining my 2yr old somewhere warm while his baby sister recovered from a chest infection. Bauble painted, hot choc for mummy, a Christmas present bought, baby sister warm = happy all round. Returned today to collect bauble and it was brilliant. Unfortunately sleep deprived mummy accidentally dropped the bauble!! Agh!! Sleep deprived mummy also dropped and smashed the sample tile (showin what colour the paints are) and finally, sleep deprived mummy made a water mark on the wooden chest (where the cakes are)! But!!! The staff couldn’t have made us more welcome or warm. The food was delicious and top marks for serving my toddler first and pronto with nice plastic cutlery and crockery too. My chilli and nachos were brilliant and your unflappability towards me and my little ones was merciful! I could not thank you enough (or say sorry for the breakages!) and am secretly happy (although you are probably less so!) that we have an excuse to return next wk to collect replacement bauble.

Enjoyed a beautifully home-made lunch at Potters Barn outside in their garden in the last of this years sun. The cakes available that day are available to look at as you walk in & they also have a little gift shop upstairs where the toilets & extra seating are. Good menu with lots to choose from, all home-made with lovely salad dressings to use & available to buy. Food was fantastic quality & well presented. As it was such a hot day we also took advantage of the little ice cream parlour around the side of the building on our way out. Will certainly return.

What a delightful little cafe! A second visit for us and what a lovely surprise we got when we saw the 'Dogs welcome' sign! We were immediately greeted by a waitress who straight away asked if our dog wanted a blanket to lie on! This was so lovely and the dog loved having something soft to curl up on! He's a dog who doesn't like to lie on the hard wooden floor so would normally just stand and whine but instead he settled and snoozed! The food was all absolutely delicious and presented beautifully! The hummus was so good, I didn't leave a morsel! The cakes and desserts looked so good we treated ourselves to one each too! The staff were all so lovely and friendly and made us feel so welcome! A place we'll definitely go back to! Thank you for such brilliant service! Highly recommended!

Me and my mum went for afternoon tea today with my toddler and it's such a delightful place. We have been for lunch before and it was delicious so we thought we would come back to tea and cake. We weren't disappointed. My mum had the blackberry flapjack and I had the chocolate marble torte. It was amazing. My little boy had homemade biscuits (6 for £1) and after I visited the little shop upstairs and bought a handmade make up bag. We will definitely be back again for another full lunch. Love it!!

We met up with my parents and brother here on the way to a family holiday nearby. They had lunch and enjoyed generous portions of tasty food, whereas we just had hot drinks. The staff were really friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and cosy, the crockery was rustic and charming, and the menu was interesting and varied. We would definitely like to return if we get the chance to visit the area again, and absolutely recommend to fellow travellers!

Was recommended but sadly did not live up to expectations. The 'special' pie seemed to be a shop bought affair warmed up. Tables are tight however moved to a larger one when it became available only to be told in no uncertain terms that it was reserved though the reserved sign was face down and not at all clear. Would be OK for coffee and ices but nothing more. Pleasant staff but overall did not feel welcome.

Even though we turned up just as Potters barn was closing, we were still served with a great big smile and my son went away very happy, eating his promised Sunday ice cream. Great staff and great ice cream. Thanks.

Situated in a quaint old building in the lovely village of Ribchester, Potters Barn is a really nice cafe. The menu is quite extensive and varied. It is also innovative and includes some lovely sounding food. We restricted ourselves to a pot of tea and a piece of sticky ginger cake. The tea was a good brew and came in a generously sized pot, and the sticky ginger cake was superb.Service was as charming as the building.

Delight place, with delightful owner and staff. Good coffee and food, also a facility to dip into craft work. Like the little touches of having quiz cards on the tables.

We are local and no strangers to this lovely cafe where Charlie makes everyone so welcome with her warm smile and great grub! The atmosphere was so relaxed, it was great to walk in to a barn bustling with musicians warming up while tasty food and drink were served..we were glad we had chosen to eat! We opted for the ploughmans platter and pie & peas - delicious. The eclectic mix of acoustic guitar and poetry made for a magic evening. Can't wait for the next one!

My brother and I took our aged aunt to Potters Barn in June and I enjoyed it so much I took friends this week! We sat in the charming garden and I bet the cafe is also cozy on a cold winter day! The staff were friendly and prompt, the food was fresh and delicious...and... there were vegan options including a choice of 5 different cakes which is such a treat!! We also loved the small gift/craft shop upstairs! Thank you!

Called in for some Lunch one Saturday Lunchtime. The place is lovely and the menu is good and varied. The Raspberry Milkshake was delicious and made from real Raspberries. The Welsh Rarebit on Toast with Salad was good, but I could I have done with a bit more! A little mean with their portions I thought! I think you would have to order at least 2 courses to feel full! But it is in a nice setting with a secluded Garden, which would be nice on a sunny day.

Lovely place with stunning views and hosted by Jonathan and Fran who are the most welcoming people. Bed and breakfast for one night only but we felt like we were visiting close family. We would highly recommend a stay here.

An excellent full English breakfast prepared with quality ingredients and prepared to perfection. A very friendly and professional staff team. The farm shop is a delight with an excellent range of products. The butchery and bakery departments are outstanding.

We sometimes visit Clitheroe midweek during the day. A pub crawl is the usual way to go, but this time, after the first pint we decided to have another. We stayed for six and on heading to the bus stop, we had only been to one pub. Why did we stay all afternoon? It was the friendliness of not just the staff, but the other customers all offering interesting content to a rolling discussion ranging from the beers to where each of us lived / grew up etc .... The barmaid (it was her first day) pulled a great pint too. In my experience of both pubs and people, this is rare. I nearly forgot to mention the prices. Cheaper than most places and two of the beers offered at just £3 a pint.
