We stopped here for lunch and had a lovely experience. It was so lovely to support an independent business. We had a lovely warm welcome. The gentleman was very accommodating and offered a milk alternative for our hot drinks which were delicious. The food options offered in the menu were vast and diverse, it was so lovely to see vegans/vegetarians/dairy intolerances had been catered for. The food came out fresh and quick. They were generous portions. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken, cranberry and lettuce sandwich and my friend loved her cheese ploughman's and the homemade coleslaw. The cafe had friendly staff and good toilet facilities. It is well decorated and had a cosy vibe. It was popular with locals but visitors to Bodmin like us were very welcomed. Thank you for making our visit really enjoyable. We would recommend Pots to anyone.

We were met by a very ungracious woman who looked us up and down like we were dirt and, despite it being 50 minutes until closing, told us they were shutting ‘in a minute’ even though someone was waiting for food which we could hear cooking! So although I can’t comment on the food I would say the atmosphere was extremely unfriendly and the staff rude.

Stopped off here to refuel before our flight! Staff were so lovely and friendly! Food arrived within minutes! And the portions… woooo!!! I can assure you it is a loaf you get and not just a slice of bread!! Menu options are vast and if we had know that previously we would have been there during our stay in Bodmin for lunch etc. From the reviews on here I was sort of dreading the fry (all looks greasy etc. from the photos) but I can assure you it’s far from! All packed full of flavour and cooked well! Bacon and sausages to die for! My only complaint was my cappuccino….. not very frothy and very watery

Really unfriendly environment! Say's it's dog friendly which really isn't the case! The breakfast we had was disgusting! Everything was thrown in a dirty oiled deep fat fryer! I saw the oil they sieved out of the fryer it was filthy and you could taste this in the food. As a chef i am critical of places but this was truly awful. Cost us nearly £30 for 2 breakfasts which we wouldn't have minded paying if the food was cooked nicely. Definitely won't be going there again! Very disappointed. The woman was very rude to us because our dog barked at another dog that got into her face and barked at our dog first. She continued to shout and argue with my wife, very unprofessional. I've worked in hospitality for over 35 years and never seen anything like it.

I came here with my family today - we ordered a couple of drinks, jacket potato, chips and a sausage and bacon sandwich. Nothing exceptional about the food, pricing or cleanliness just average at best. I was disappointed that my sausage and bacon sandwich only contained 2 rashers of bacon and 1 sausage (halved). Seemed pretty stingey to me. I also thought the lady at the front was a bit sharp and abrupt. I wouldn't describe them as rude but perhaps a little unwelcoming or unfriendly. I've also looked at the other reviews, I can see the owner enjoys taking issue with anyone who doesn't have a 5 star experience. If I had seen the way they respond to reviews before eating then I would have went elsewhere.

Well other people have said what I am going to say - a fantastic 'little' café serving superb food in a happy, friendly environment. But I wonder - Good afternoon, I wonder if you have heard of the ‘hanging coffee’ facility? It’s where paying customers leave a payment in cash or card, with a café/restaurant, for a number of coffees/meals in order that people less able to buy or are homeless can get a hot drink and/or something to eat?Would you say if you do this, or if you would be interested in doing so? I came across this idea upcountry and, with the numbers of those in limited circumstances growing in Cornwall, I would love to be able to do this locally – I have a number of friends who would too.I look forward to hearing from you

Absolutely love Pots, been coming here since I was a kid (I’m now in my twenties) and always enjoy it. The staff are lovely and nothing is ever too much trouble. Julie is fantastic and cares so much about the place. It’s a shame that there are so many ignorant and rude holiday makers coming in and giving them such a hard time. They do a great job and continue to deliver service with a smile even through a pandemic!I highly recommend visiting Pots if you’re in Bodmin. Great value, great food.

The moment we entered the cafe the lady behind the counter told (not asked) us to put our details on a piece of paper. No hello, good morning in fact I felt like we were an inconvenience to her. We ordered the English breakfast which came and for £7 for a breakfast minus a bru was mediocre at best. We got two slabs of buttered bread we were not offered an alternative. The lady really needs to work on her people skills because I could have forgive the mediocre breakfast if she had been a better host.

Went in with my parents, daughter and niece for a drink and something to eat. At first I wasn't to sure as the decor is dated and kind of assaults the senses but when we sat down we were given time to peruse the menu and our order was promptly taken and the food was made fresh to order and our drinks were brought out the very quickly. The size of the portions were fantastic and great value for money to, I had the chicken, lettuce and mayo sandwich which was brought out on freshly cut bread which were thickly sliced and the chicken was cooked to perfection. My mum had egg and chips which were piping hot and the chip's were lovely and crispy. Don't go into bodmin very often but will definitely go in this little cafe again when I do.

This was our first visit (last Friday) after reading reviews on this site. We were not disappointed! My wife had a a roast beef doorstop of a sandwich which she described as probably the best ever sandwich provided by any cafe/pub. The generous portions of beef was, according to my wife, succulent! I chose the bacon sandwich on brown bread. Three rashers of very tasty bacon washed down by a proper pot of tea. Total cost? Just over £13 - and worth every penny; real value for money.

Called in for a cuppa and husband couldn’t resist a bacon sandwich, which was made with very fresh bread which sometimes is lacking in many places. He is rather fussy with his bacon but it was cooked perfectly and the tea was a nice cuppa. Clean and friendly but the top point scorer for us was the superior treatment our 4 legged child, Arthur, received here. We were asked by the young member of staff if he could have a sausage and the other gentleman sat with him making him very welcome indeed. Water was given to him straight away by the lady and we felt at home. I’m sick to death of being reluctantly served in some places because we have a dog. There’s none of that here and for that alone I’d recommend it to everyone. Thank you very much for accepting our lifestyle choice. More like you please!

The breakfast when I read it didn't seem too big..... mental note to self, it was way more than I could eat, lucky I took the dogs to help finish it off, they weren't complaining. The young lad that works here also asked if I was happy for my dogs to have a sausage, they were very happy with this treat, plus they also had the owners wife homemade dog treat which went down very well. We opted for cheese, onion and ham paninis which were ok but nothing special. Priced at just short of £8 you would’ve expected better. In fact 2 small diet cokes & 2 paninis came just shy of £20. After a nice trip around Bodmin my family and I decided to find somewhere for a brunch. after a short look around we opted for Pot's (and wished we hadn't)I am fully aware this is just a high street café and nothing special but we were still very unhappy with the food and service received. On entry we ventured downstairs, after waiting a good 10 min I walked back upstairs and was told someone will be with us shortly (not a great start) We opted for a tuna mayo and sweetcorn sandwich and chips, a pot of tea and a milkshake. When the sandwich came it looked as if it has been thrown together, it was basically two slices of cheap brown bread with half a can of tuna plonked on top , some sweetcorn on top of that finished in a huge dollop of mayo! awful! When I asked the waiter ''do they not even mix the tuna and mayo together'' he said ''yes we normally do'' and said he would let the kitchen know , no apology or offer to redo the sandwich nothing! The chips were soft and under cooked and the milkshake very average for the 3.50 it cost. So to summarise. Badly run café with bad service and awful food. avoid.

The decor is old 50's and 60s style ordered tge standard breakfast before checking menu as there was a second breakfast we could have ordered. There is small seating area upstairs or you can go downstairs to a much more bigger seating area. Looked very clean lots of old 50's retro pictures on the wall. The menu a plastic A4 style layout showing you images in colour. I would have gone for more detailed images then those but you get the picture lol. There seems a lot of choice to choose from. hot drinks arrived wasn't to bad a taste but not what I'm use to. Large door steppers white bread with lots of marg spread all over followed by our breakfast of 2 eggs 3 backen. 1 sausage. Beans. 1 ash brown. Was very nice but looked like it and tasted like it had been left under heat lamp or grill to keep warm as most of my breakfast was dried out Such a shame. Toilets well photos of my visit are attached. toilet look very clean and tidy. But very small cubbard style toilet. Pots has been the must-go place for breakfast in Bodmin for years! The food is well cooked and the portions are huge. The bacon is cooked to perfection!! Prices are reasonable for what you get. Not sure what a previous reviewer expected from a cafe in Bodmin!!! It's not a health conscious or posh cafe offering 100 types of coffee nor is it a pretentious bistro.. Pots is a great little cafe which excels at what they do best - nice unhealthy treats and I highly recommend the Triple Decker :)

I have used this café regularly over the years and have never been disappointed with the food served. The portions are large and really good value for money. The staff are friendly and they offer a take away service also. Would highly recommend the bacon, brie and cranberry Panini - the biggest I have every eaten and really tasty!

if you like more food for your buck then this is for you. if you are sniffy about decor and diet then don't go in. it is obvious from the outside what is on the inside. yes it can best be described as retro but it takes me back to the greasy spoons of my youth. giant toasted baguettes. good coffee. mugs of tea. basic toilet facilities. friendly waiting staff. good stop on a rainy day in bodmin.

We went here on a bank holiday as it was the only place open and have never looked back! The menu is extensive and you can basically order any combination of anything on the menu however strange it may seem. We now regularly visit.. at least once a month.. and shamefully sometimes more than once a week! The pictures on the menus are exactly what you get, massive portions at good prices and the bacon and chips are so good! Much of what they offer is also available to take away. Admittedly the décor isn't anything amazing, a refurbishment wouldn't hurt and if you're looking for something particularly healthy this might not be the best place.. but the staff and food are lovely and I am yet to be disappointed!

We had a very nicely cooked full english, falling magnificently off the diet. The two ladies running the cafe were very nice and the place itself is very clean and well looked after. In particular liked the photos of the food served, they have not used any form of doctoring to make the food look its just stepped off the covers of the Good Food magazine. What you see is what get and what we got was very nice and very good value.

Popped into 'Pots' for a coffee - As someone who tries to maintain a healthy diet, I asked the waitress if I could have a filter cofee & did they have skimmed milk? Also asked for sweetener. Recieved a cofee which was made with all milk - and which tasted suspiciously like full fat. The sweeteners were in an absolutely filthy dispenser.Looking art the menu shows photos of Sunday roasts that look like they were taken in the '70s complete with gravy splattered all over the plates. Unfortunately, they look just like the Sunday roasts that are thrown together, sorry - lovingly assembled. If you are looking for an additional spare tyre & 'chips with everything', 'Pots' could be the place for you. If not, go elsewhere

Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her pup cup. Thank you!

Visiting Port Issac to buy lobsters. Decided to have a light lunch at the Mote. Lovely welcome, sat down stairs. My wife had the leek & courgette soup & i had the crab & cheese melt. All the food was very tasty & well presented. Very enjoyable lunch.

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.
