The premises are about a mile off the main road. There is a small car park and an agglomeration of sheds, walls and a large tent. It took me some time to work out how to access the cafe as the sign indicating an entrance was well hidden. From a bright winter's day it was a surprise to enter a cafe so dark and dated, albeit with the pleasant sight of an open fire. There were no customers although this was an hour after opening, and no staff in evidence. After waiting some moments I twice tried pressing the bellpush on the counter. Eventually I called out a greeting but there was no response, and it was only after calling out loudly whether anyone was there that a man appeared, told me that the bell was indeed broken and that "she will be there in a minute". After another wait a lady appeared, who took my order. The scone and coffee were good, but the surroundings rather depressing. An art room opposite had its purpose scrawled in amateur fashion across the window, and there were many peremptory notices in evidence, which is always off-putting. I am an enthusiastic crafter, but this did not encourage me to enquire further. Overall the whole experience was a disappointment.

Visited for a family lunch on a day out. The restaurant is a bit tired and dated but clean enough. Two sub rolls ordered which were tasty but overpriced for what they were. Chose a cheese sandwich from the kids section of the menu (no choice of bread offered) and was really disappointed to receive a sandwich containing inedible plastic cheese slices rather than proper cheese. Complained to a member of staff to be told “that’s just how the kid’s sandwiches come” so asked for a small pot of grated cheese to at least make something edible rather than being left with just a £6.50 plate of bread and butter! Ordered a few tray bakes after which were ok, a poorer selection of cakes than on previous visits though. Overall, didn’t think the food was worth the price and can find better value, and quality, especially for kids meals, at other cafes and restaurants nearby. Wasn’t anything today that would make me want to rush to visit again.

Have been for Sunday lunch in a number of occasions and always been lovely quality snd quantity however in a recent vist for a Birthday Sunday lunch the portion of vegetable for three people was miniscule, 3 slices if carrots each, one small.piec of broccoli and not even a spoon of cabbage, it was also noticeable from my last lunch there that you now only get in roast potato and the pig in blanket was also missing, the veg I got for 2 people on a previus visit was more than it was for 3, with vegetable being so cheap I think the vegetable side dish should increase in size for 3 people ..I was disappointed in quantity but not with the quality

We have had lunches here on numerous occasions over the years. Today was the first (and last) time in 2024. Lunch today 4 July. Ordered the beef burger. It arrived, overcooked, without the advertised coleslaw but with a leathery, clumsily chopped , inedible salad. The fries were standard frozen thins. £15 - someone is having a laugh. My wife ordered the breaded scampi - standard frozen stuff , same chips as mine and bullet-like peas. £14! No further comment required.

Called in for lunch not realising we needed to book but there was 1 table for 2 available thank goodness. It was very busy and the staff were working very hard but were still friendly. We had Mince and dumplings with mash and it was delicious. It was a lovely change to have something old fashioned and homely. We'll be back to try the breakfasts next time.

Its so good to be back! For a variety of reason, haven’t had a meal at ‘Pot’ in a while - but its good to be back and still enjoy the best steak baguette …..ever!! Dirty fries makes a great ‘sharing starter’ while a 6 year old (with more than an eye to critical reviews of food) declared her meal was ‘brilliant’. It ain’t fine dining but neither are the prices - good prices, friendly service and food that ticks the various boxes for ‘family fare’. Won’t leave it so long to be back again - promise!! Thank you !

Our walking group of 8 people had booked for a light lunch here, following our walk along the beach and dunes not far away. We go to a different eatery each month somewhere in Northumberland, but this ranks with the very best we have visited. Good sized car park. Prompt, kind and patient service, excellent choice of menu items freshly cooked, not long to wait - nice quiet, cool ambience with no loud muzzak - what's not to like?? Nice clean toilets. Two of us had the toasted Crocque Madam, others had chicken curry or a variety of sandwiches. We are determined to return here.

Came across this cafe completely by accident while driving down a country road near Berwick while staying at Haggerston Castle caravan park. We initially went past but decided to reverse and try this place for a mid day snack. We didn't want a big meal so we ordered Milkshakes and hubby had a caramel slice and I had a cheese scone and butter (first place in England I've found that warmed the scone up - a good practice in my eyes). We both enjoyed the snack and the staff were all really nice and even whilst obviously on her own lunch one of the staff kept getting up to attend to customers when her colleagues were busy elsewhere. We noticed that the place was very dog friendly as there are outside seats where you can sit with your dogs (we didn't have ours with us this time). I would certainly return to this cafe if in the area again.

I phoned this morning to check how dog-friendly the site was, and was told that there was plenty of outside seating. Looking forward to a pleasant mid-morning snack in peaceful, country surroundings, we drove there from Berwick with our two dogs. On arrival, we found plenty of room in the car park, but on unloading and heading for the beer garden, we were greeted by the sound of loud, piped pop music, with a persistent, heavy base beat. What a racket. Is this really what customers want, or is it more to do with what the staff want to listen to? Either way, I can't see us wanting to visit again if this is the norm. Disappointing.

Lovely cosy and homely café not far from Cocklawburn beach. Staff very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Delicious home baking. They do a nice Sunday roast too. The restaurant is in the Pot a Doodle Do wigwam village and there is a children's playpark, outside seating area and shop next door. Nice place to go for food before or after a walk along the nearby beach and countryside.

Called in today as we thought it might be a little quieter than some of the popular cafes in Berwick. Have to say we throughly enjoyed it. It was quite quiet which we enjoyed as managed to sit at a table by the fire. We both had soup and toasties with delicious homemade chutney and yummy hot chocolates served with hot milk to top up. Decor is a little dated but it gives the place character. The waitress with black hair was super nice and made us feel very welcome. Great place and we will be back.

We called here on our way back from Berwick and were so disappointed in the attitude of the staff when we arrived. They were about to close, which we didn't realise and stood just looking at us in the porch way waiting to go home. They made us feel as though we shouldn't be there. So in light of this we decided that we wouldn't return the next day. A polite "I'm sorry we are closed " was all that was needed and we would have left happily but to glared at and ignored isn't acceptable

We had lunch here recently. There are indoor and outdoor tables in pleasant surroundings. The restaurant is clean and inviting and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Service was polite and efficient. The menu has a reasonable range of casual food items including soups, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and some mains which include a veggie burger (good to see as we are vegetarians). They serve excellent cakes and baked deserts. On Sundays they serve full roast meals at very reasonable prices but also serve jacket potatoes and sandwiches for people who don't want the roast. Our vegetable sandwich was fine. The jacket potato was accompanied by very tasteless cheese and came with a minute portion of salad. So my only wish is that they would get some better cheeses and increase the size of the salad that accompanies sandwiches and potatoes. Other than these points, we found it a pleasant place for a casual meal at reasonable prices and would return.

Nearest pub to our accomodation, spent several evenings here chatting with the locals and enjoying local ales. We had the pie off the day (steak and ale) one evening and it was delicious. Definitely more steak than you usually get in a pie. Had to have several more drinks before heading home else we would have needed a push up the hills!! Nice little corner with local products in the coffee shop area, cakes looked rather tasty but we were only in of the evenings.
