Portofino's in Bolton

Only people in on a Friday evening -very strange. Waiter did his best to make us feel comfortable but it was odd being the only ones there. Although food was good the vegetables included with the meal were very sparse. We would certainly have ordered more had we realised how little we were getting. There was also quite a long wait between courses -certainly wasn't due to the chef being busy! Overall a good meal though.

Didn’t know what to expect when i entered Portofino’s but i was very surprised, i ordered liver for the starter which was excellent then arrabbiata with spaghetti & chicken, the spaghetti was cooked al dente perfect, the waiter was very knowledgeable about wine & very friendly, so all in all very enjoyable

I visited portofinos last night with five friends for the first time and it certainly won't be our last. Having been a regular to noble house over the years I was interested to see the new decor and have to say it's beautiful inside they have done a great job. Very classy. Only one of our group had a starter ( we were going for drinks after the meal and didn't want to overfill on food) she had prawn cocktail which she said was lovely and there was certainly lots of prawns. For main I had penne arriabatta with added chicken and asked for it extra spicy it didn't disappoint it was so good I left an empty plate! The others all enjoyed their meals too. Linguine, pizza, calzone and two chicken stroganoff. A few finished off with the cheese board which they certainly enjoyed. Service was good staff very attentive making sure we all had drinks regularly. All in all we had a fantastic meal and really enjoyed our evening there and will definitely be visiting again. And a big shout out to the male singer he was brilliant and had an excellent voice I thought it was just music playing until I saw him standing singing! A really nice touch! Go visit portofinos soon you won't be disappointed more people need to go here it's a hidden gem!

My husband and I went early on a Saturday evening i was a bit concerned as we were the only people in at the time but the waiter was very nice and helpful the food was delicious and reasonably priced ,i intend to go back this next week with a friend fingers crossed its just as good

Visited with friends for a pre Xmas get together. This was out second visit. I love this restaurant!!! The staff are friendly and approachable and willing to go the extra mile to look after their customers. One of our party wanted a starter that was no longer on the menu but the chef was happy to provide it. Being Xmas we were given a fantastic prosecco tree and there was also a great singer on and a magician to entertain us. The food was delicious and we were made to feel so welcome that we didn't rush our meals. I can highly recommend the liquor coffee as an after dinner treat. A real hidden gem in Bolton. Can't wait for our next visit.

The food served was hot,plentiful and delicious. The service was excellent and everyone commented on how good it all was.

My pasta was superb. But dessert menus was expensive. They need to go back to drawing board regarding customer service

We visited Portofino's on the off chance they had a table. The staff could not do enough for us and the food was excellent. The Ravioli is to die for. Really reasonably prices too. We will definitely be returning.

Took the family here for my wifes birthday. It was quiet for a sunday evening which can be worrying. Worry ye not, the food was absolutely top notch whether it be pizzas, pasta, steak or a fish dish. Service was very attentive and they kept the wine topped up. Will now be our go to italian in bolton for sure and am sure it wont stay a hidden gem for long

After booking a very very last minute table for my mums birthday meal, each and every one of us were impressed with the dining expereience. From the initial enquiry on the phone through the actual evening the staff could not do enough for us. Every request was accomodated with a smile and efficient service. All 15 main courses were fantastic quality with each and every person giving great positive comments about the presentation, freshness, taste and quality of the dishes. This was the first time all of our party visited and certainly wont be our last. Just such a shame more people don't know about this hidden gem, as it did lack some atmosphere. Get out advertising and spreading the word and make a success out of a potentially fantastic restaurant. Thank you fir a fabulous evening xx

Came to eat with 7 other girls celebrating a birthday. We all had a absolutely amazing time the restaurant looks great as we were noble house regulars we was interested to see the new decor. We all had fantastic food the prices were reasonable. Nobody was disappointed the steak was particularly good. Wine was great and service great defo return. Thanks

This place is definitely a hidden gem that needs shouting from the rooftops about (get that website sorted). Had the seabass which was simply delicious, the staff were incredibly attentive and the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. As others have commented it was very quiet, I really hope more people from Bolton and further afield try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Four of us went at 8pm on a Friday until around 9pm we were the only people in. There was live music on in another room but think there were only a couple of people in there. Saying that, the food was lovely, a good menu and not at all expensive. I really hope more people find this place as it deserves to be a big success.

This was our second time here and the food was again really good. The restaurant is done out really nicely and our welcome was warm.

The restaurant was quiet but the atmosphere was good. The decor is excellent and very civilised with real top quality table cloths and napkins. The mural of Portofino reminded us of a visit there many years ago. Very pleasant. Five of us dined and had a selection of food and it was all very good, well cooked, very tasty and well presented. The sharing platter of Italian meats was very generous and high quality. I particularly loved the Lobster Ravioli which was unusual and very tasty. Service was excellent and very friendly.. Avery good and enjoyable evening.

Tried it out of convenience but are so glad we did. Food was very good and the service was first class. The ambiance was lovely and we will definitely return.

£10.95 three courses including a drink Mon and Tues after 5pm - what more could you want? - really beautiful food , very attentive friendly staff, great service, lovely surroundings - could not fault - we loved it and are telling all our friends and family it's just a superb gem of a find!

If you’re looking for real Italian food, here is the place to go. As for the last two reviews, I can see nothing of the sort in this restaurant! The service was attentive, polite, helpful and not pushy! Wonderful and we would love to come back. You made us feel very welcome.

Decor fine. Typical Italian menu. However the restaurant is poorly run. Below average service. Food needed to be reheated in microwave. Doubt they have any repeat business. Expect it to close soon. Best advice: go elsewhere. Odds on it will be better

15 of us.Majority unhappy.Veerry long wait for starters(over an hour)and one never arrived despite constant assurances.Looong wait for mains.Some had finished before others had been served.Most side dishes never arrived.Bar service only for drinks.Asked for separate bills at the start..didnt happen.Food good but didnt enjoy it

Visited with friends on bank holiday, made to feel welcome straight away and nothing was too much trouble. A good choice of food, everything we had was delicious and very good value for money. We were not rushed and it was a lovely evening. Looking forward to our next visit.

14 of us dined here last week. Absolutely gorgeous food and could not fault the service. Staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome straight away. All of us enjoyed our meal and it was that good that we have arranged to come again next month. Great restaurant and even better staff.

Went to celebrate two wedding anniversaries with friends was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere. The bright surroundings added with the lounge singer were a nice touch . Service was attentive and the food choice were top notch. I had the black pudding starter followed by the lobster and prawn ravioli. Washed down with a tasty house red. Finished for with a beautiful cheese cake. Could not fault my visit.

Its on a great location in Bolton Town Centre, close to the marketplace and only a few minutes walk from the closest NCP carpark.

The location is underground and with interesting fake photos of Italy. Feels like an empty wedding venue.

As a group of six women who started at 8 and left at 11:15 we weren't once made to feel rushed tonight even though they were supposed to close at 10:30!

Visited tonight for the first time, had a fantastic experience. Food was lovely, staff really friendly and will definately be visiting again for the entertainment evenings, promises to be a nice Italian in Bolton. Thanks

5 of us for dinner.... 5 unhappy guests. Inattentive staff...and poorly trained with complaints. Mushroom starter probably from a tin. All veg tasteless and probably from a tin, all dinners had no flavour and when a dish was sent back due to poor taste...get CHARGED for it. Unanswered email complaint so rang to speak to someone over the poor quality of food and service.... “if you don’t like our food.... then don’t eat here again”
