Ate here last night, food was amazing I had the pork dish, my server was a lovely girl called Aimee, her and the other girls were all great. Sat me and my partner In a great spot. Chill atmosphere, 10/10 would recommend.

We recently moved to the area and were recommended to take family who were visiting there for dinner. It absolutely did not disappoint! All the servers were incredibly knowledgeable and fun, it was busy but not too crowded (which is always a good sign) and the food was incredible! I was a bit nervous ordering wine as all of it is Italian and I’m not usually a massive fan, but the sauvignon was beautiful. A faultless evening and we will 100% be regulars from now on!

Had breakfast here and had a Portofino full English and even for the smaller version the portions were so generous! It was delicious as always and it is my favourite local restaurant by far!! Always amazing service and a great atmosphere. I highly recommend Portofino!!

Portofinos is located in a nice area in wellswood and as you enter you are welcome by friendly and happy staff. The decor and interior has been well thought and has exquisite taste. The staff are welcoming, warm and very attentive. A variety of meals were ordered which came out swiftly and all plates were left empty. We had a variety of the pastas, pizzas and antipasti which were all so delicious. The cocktails and prosecco were also really tasty and we can't wait to go again. Thank you to the team for a wonderful meal.

It was unlimited Prosecco and the most delicious pizza —literally what more could you ask for? Service was fast vibes were and the drinks kept flowing. We enjoyed the food and service, but unfortunately, we were very disappointed by a falsely advertised pizza deal. We booked dinner for my birthday (Tuesday) and saw the following deal advertised on both their website and the sign outside the restaurant: Any Pizza and a Glass of House Wine: £15.95. When we arrived and asked for this offer, the server—who mentioned it was only her second shift—checked with a colleague, only to be told, “We don’t do it anymore.” Despite this, the sign was outside, and the deal was still live on their website. We ended up ordering two pizzas and a bottle of wine, paying more than double what we expected based on their advertisement. It’s incredibly frustrating and misleading to promote an offer that is no longer available. If the deal has ended, the signage and website should be updated—leaving them up feels dishonest, and frankly, it left us feeling cheated on what was meant to be a special evening. That said, the food and service were genuinely good, so I wouldn’t discourage others from visiting. I’d just strongly advise verifying any advertised offers first. I sincerely hope this was an oversight and that the restaurant will consider making it right—whether by offering compensation or at least ensuring the outdated advertisements are promptly removed. A simple update to signage and the website would prevent other guests from having a similar disappointing experience.

What a great find! I loved the restaurant as soon as I entered. It is stylish but very cosy and welcoming. We were seated in the booths to the rear; the service was friendly and efficient, attentive but not intrusive. We ordered the Sunday Lunch which included a glass of wine. My partner was offered a non-alcoholic beer as he was driving. Our food was amazing - the bruschetta for starters was fresh and herby and just the right size. We both ordered pork belly for the main and it was cooked to perfection; tender and with great crackling. The potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy on the plate were also delicious, as was the amazing selection of steamed vegetables and creamed celeriac served separately. Everything tasted fresh and had been beautifully prepared. The portion size was very generous so we didn't have room for dessert, which is a shame, as I would have liked to try some. The only reason I dropped a point was that we ordered two espressos and they were served without sugar. We asked for some but then there were no teaspoons so we had to use a knife to stir it! also, I would have liked the choice of a starter and main or main and dessert as the latter would be my preference. This didn't spoil our overall experience and we'd definitely visit again. Thank you all at Portofino, you're doing a great job.

We went here last night and were so impressed. The staff were really friendly and attentive to our table. We had a starter, a main and a dessert which were all very tasty. We had some cocktails and beers too. Altogether a great atmosphere and nice place to eat out.

Wellswood needs a quality restaurant very badly and has done for many years.It now has one.....let's support it.

Good food here, excellent service and the house red was great. The chef opened the kitchen a bit early for us because they were ready to go.

We were here for early dinner before going to the Little Theatre. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the food was delicious.

Great food and drinks. Just remember to arrive after 12.00 if you want to have lunch as up until then only breakfast is served. We arrived around 11.30 and had an amazing brunch :-). The staff is very friendly.

Lovely breakfast, coffee and service. The breakfast menu offers a variety of options, it offers vegan option which I choose. When I go again I’ll ask if they could just do a vegetarian option as I missed an egg and real butter.

I was taken out for an early evening meal. The staff were so welcoming and extremely helpful as I am Gluten free. Between the staff and the kitchen we all had the most delicious meal. I have been several times before but always stuck to the food I know. This time with the patience of the staff and kitchen I was able to really relax and enjoy. It was good that we were early as later they became so busy and noisy I would have felt guilty needing all the help. A big THANK YOU to the staff early evening Tuesday 13 August.

Wow what an amazing place. Such great food and very attentive staff. It’s our first time and it certainly won’t be our last and I would highly recommend a visit. Our Daughter is Coeliac and the staff filled her with confidence and to see her enjoy her meal was an absolute amazing. Well done everyone at Portifinos you should be very very proud. Good food and very nice atmosphere

Have lived in Torquay for a long time, but have never been here. Passed regularly and always wanted to go. We decided to pop In for lunch, and both chose to have pizza. We where not disappointed. The pizza was huge, (couldnt eat it all) delicious, very authentic and great value for money. The staff were very attentive and helpful, and even offered to wrap the food we had left, so we could take it home. One of the nicest meals and service I've had in a long time and will definitely be returning

My number 1 choice for evening dining in Torquay! 🇮🇹🙌 Portofino is perfectly placed away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront and offers a dining experience like no other in the bay. A fantastic atmosphere each and every night, with an authentic approach to its Italian cuisine 🇮🇹 The menu is heavily influenced by Pizza and Pasta, however the special board is always filled with exiting alternatives. Personal recommendations include the ‘Portofino’ Pizza (of corse!) and Caesar Salad, as well as the Skinny fries that are OUT OF THIS WORLD! 🤩

We had the most amazing time at Portofino. From the pre dinner cocktails to the amazing food and wonderful entertainment. It turn into a fabulous night.

Absolutely great, firstly we were greeted by lovely friendly staff, we were seated and had the menu explained, I’m a gluten free vegetarian, my sister-in-law is also gf. We were then served drinks whilst we made up our minds. The veggie antipasto was so nice I could barely eat my pizza! To be fair the antipasto was for two, my husband and his sister had calamari which they said was delicious, so they weren’t much help with mine! Their mains were equally delicious. The three of us were stuffed, but we just had to try a dessert, two of us shared as we were very satisfied already! A delicious crumble with clotted cream. 😋 I had the rest of my pizza boxed, that’s my dinner tomorrow sorted! 😋 I almost forgot to mention the live music, they were great too, all together a great experience, well worth a visit, 5⭐️ everything. Thank you. 😁

A pure gem within Wellswood village. Excellent specials and wine list , the cocktails also great. Wonderful atmosphere in the village and the live music topped it all off perfectly. Was very busy so I’m glad we booked. Food was delicious - highly recommend.

I only ever go in here for a coffee. I can not eat here as with most restaurants in torquay allow dogs and I don't like to eat in any establishment that serves food around dogs and the noise of them baking. I believe there's are restaurants and now they are sounding like baterbees dog home constantly baking and like alot of people like to have a peaceful time when they go for a meal I believe my review to be fair and honest. The staff are always friendly very polite and know how to make a good coffee. I'll use this place just as a local coffee shop just not to eat in until their dog licence policy changes I'll stick to the balmoral hotel for food. Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

The Sunday Roast at Portofino is a must!! I was visiting the area from London and this is one of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve had and excellent value for money!

Great place and food excellent. Just a few staff look down nose at people . Never judge a book by its cover . Someone may walk in not dressed up , but they could be the people who don’t show real wealth and the people dressed up may not be wealthy

Dined here on multiple occasions, never been disappointed. Food has always been great and the atmosphere is awesome, sometimes even having some live music in the bar area.

Came for breakfast. Positives - amazing decor, reasonably priced & lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was just ok - very uninspiring. Pancakes said mixed berries, but just came with blueberries and the pancakes were on the small side. Avocado on the toast was just sliced not smashed with seasoning. Bacon was nice and crispy just not much of it. No butter with the toast we had to ask for it. I would definitely come back here for lunch or evening meal as the menu looks great - just not for breakfast.

Excellent service and fantastic food.

Arrived at 5.15 as booking system said there was availability but table had to be vacated by 6.55 which was fine. We only wanted a pizza but on arrival we were greeted by a member of staff who said no availability and upon stating we could book via the booking system she told us by shooing us with her hands to the door that the kitchen were not allowed to accept any more orders. A very rude response. Not sure this is good customer service - such a shame as it is a nice place as food has always been of a good standard and we are local and regular customers!

I am so lucky to have Portofinos on my doorstep. The food is great, especially their Sunday Italian Roast, and their Wednesday night live music 🎶 🎵 is amazing, you can have a mid morning coffee, a glass of wine in the evening; the service is friendly and attentive and they take care of my Rapeseed Oil allergy no problem. I love this place ❤️

This was recommended to us while we were staying in the area and did not disappoint. Very relaxed and friendly with excellent food. We enjoyed all of the meal, especially the arancini. Good wine list too with a very good Grillo. Excellent service from a friendly team.

Unintentionally stumbled across this lovely little place while Googling places to eat in Torquay. We certainly were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff and we were able to admire the lovely decor as we were shown to our table. Excellent background music coupled with good lighting, made for an excellent atmosphere. All the staff were very knowledgeable of the menus and gave advice where necessary. To start, we have arancini balls, some olives and focaccia bread. All were delicious. We both had pizza for main and our friends had chicken parmigiana and a delicious looking pasta dish. We all agreed that the food was amazing and washed down with a reasonably price, delicious bottle of red. Excellent night and we will return!

Visited for breakfast, everything excellent, very good quality ingredients, we chose a full English and a poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and bacon, coffee great too. Lovely welcoming staff, would thoroughly recommend.

This has only been open since May. Took my wife there for Sunday lunch today. Every thing about it is good. Very smiley and attentive staff, quick service and lovely well prepared food. The wine supplied with the food was excellent too. We were asked about any allergies and later how things were going, a sign of good staff training. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly for Sunday lunch, the other food we saw looked good as well. We will be back!

Food is excellent. They were really nice to us.. But when a lady in 'simplier' clothes walked in to ask a coffee, the staff seemed to have a cynical laugh behind her back. It is bad! Please, be kind to every human being not only those who walk in with Gucci bag! Especially weird from a waitress/waiter who are not collecting the Gucci bags at home either, I suppose.. ;)

We have now enjoyed Portofino a number of times. Always five stars. Our recent visit was over the Wellswood Christmas street market event. Despite the restaurant being exceptionally busy and atmospheric, the food was thankfully excellent. Staff working so hard and cheerfully under such pressure. The evening entertainment was a saxophonist but his performance was distracting as he was playing with excessive amplification. Ridiculous in a small space and would have been a superior experience if he played acoustically. Otherwise 5 stars.🇬🇧🇳🇿

Had lunch today with my elderly mother and my two teenage boys. The service and decor were welcoming and pleasant overall. The menu is a bit limited if you don't wish to eat pizza or pasta. My boys had pizzas which were fine albeit a little overpriced. Both my mother and I had Salad Nicoise as a healthier option. I wish we had also gone for the pizza as both my mother and myself have both had severe gastric distress since leaving the restaurant . I'll spare the gory details but suffice it to say my birthday will be memorable for all the wrong reasons.

The tables in the front were taken, so sat in the back, hence atmosphere not so good. Service excellent, though didn't notice us, until we asked them. Food was excellent apart from raspberry crumble and coffee.

This was our first visit to Portofino since they opened, we are regulars at Ollies their other restaurant in Torquay. We had a wonderful dinner at Portofino the mussels were SO delicious and the Clam Pasta was divine! Clearly high quality ingredients, the smell of Italian cuisine hits you as you walk through the doors. The decor and atmosphere tops off the high quality service and outstanding food - it’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from us! Booked for our next trip back to Torquay. Another one of our favourites in Torquay.

We couldn't get into our usual eatery so grabbed a table in Portofino, never been before so a bit risky. What a find. Wonderful wonderful evening with fantastic service, great food and , Wednesday is live music night so truly wined and dined. Lovely duo singing and playing guitar, fine voices and a good mixture of genres. Our 7 year old granddaughter enjoyed herself, there was a casual coffee, bistro, restaurant feeling with a variety of seating from intimate to bar stools. Our meals were all just lovely with the nicest pizza I've had in years .... No burnt edges to be seen. Highly recommended for couples, families or groups of any age. We will defo go again.

As the sister restaurant to the outstanding Ollie's we were excited to see this venue opening in Wellswood. Arriving on opening day for dinner in May and more recently for breakfast the lovely and familiar team didn't let us down. A reassuringly short menu. All perfectly cooked and delicious. Our first visit to Portofino. I'd read the staff were very friendly and that was indeed the case, they looked after us extremely well. We had one main course from the main menu, and one from the specials. Both were excellent, using fresh ingredients. We also had some cocktails which were beautifully presented and delicious. All in all a great evening, and we will certainly be back.

Had popped in for coffees during a daytime. Looked at menu, decor, the friendly staff, decided to give it a go in the eves for a meal, as new and not visited before. Glad we did. Firstly the management and staff were great, after having to change numbers due to sickness at short notice. super attitude to problem. The place was busy with happy customers when we arrived. Staff were welcoming and pleasant throughout the evening. The atmosphere was one of enjoyment by customers, more arrived after us. The menu is limited, mainly pasta dishes, pizzas and specials. which is good for a simple pleasant night out. Staff make all the difference and were really good. Food was fresh, tasty and good portions, varied dishes ensured everyone had what they wanted. Prices around the normal expected. Drinks bit pricey, pity so just had less. Thanks to all the staff, incl kitchen, for a good family night out. Great evening, will certainly return for more.

I went for a meal with my partner, I ordered a pizza margherita and a chicken salad, the pizza was pizza based frozen no taste whatsoever, the chicken salad can’t say as I didn’t taste it. Service was ok, very friendly waitresses. Atmosphere absolutely unacceptable for the evening I went, the bar was full and staff managed to lay them out to our table which was very unpleasant. One thing to add the wine wall…absolutely outrageous, a Italian restaurant with no Italian wine nomination…

Recently opened and part of the amazing and top rated Ollie's of Torquay. We went on their first day on the 23 May. Lydia from Ollie's leading from the front as ever. Nicely refurbished. A delicious and unpretentious short menu. Short is key to quality. Vibrant and atmospheric. Doggy friendly. Gorgeous crew. Only let down, the ugly plastic plant on our table. We shall return. Fantastic. Really great buzzy atmosphere without being loud. Service was perfect. Food was too. Menu initially looked a little limited but easy to find dishes we all enjoyed.

We had an outstanding dinner at Portofino last night. We loved the atmosphere and the decor and thought the enfold and wine was excellent. Our starters, mains, sides and drinks came in well below £100 which was amazing considering the standards. Special mention for the pasta (great price and portion) and the Pinot bianco wine.

+ve The food was excellent!! Good quality produce, well cooked and presented. Very reasonable priced, and this far outweighed the negatives - see below. All in all...yes, we'll be going back to Portofino ..! -ve Booked breakfast for 9.30 but in reality they don't serve until 10... so we spent the first half an hour drinking our coffee and juice then had to pay again for a coffee with our meal! (Maybe a free top-up would have been a nice gesture?) Interior is dark and dingy akin to their evening offering we assume. Something a little brighter would be more conducive to daylight hours i.e. breakfast, morning coffee and lunchtimes. Take a leaf out of 'the Ivy' perhaps? (Sorry about the pun!)
