Portmore Golf Park and Restaurant in North Devon

The menu for midday lunch was very poor with just full english breakfast sandwiches sausage rolls etc.We were expecting menu with hot meals.I had breakfast meal and a dessert and a pint of lager and it cost £19 which i thought was alot of money for what i had.I don't think i will be coming again.

What a fantastic evening this was, a real treat for the taste buds, the food was excellent! Every course was well balanced and immaculately presented, the staff were so friendly and attentive. Thank you to all concerned for such an enjoyable evening.

What an evening, I can’t praise it highly enough. The food was outstanding, every course was a masterpiece. The staff were extremely friendly & couldn’t do enough for us. A very special evening, thank you to all involved.

I have previously been to portmore for Sunday Lunch which has always been excellent. So on Friday night myself and a group of friends attended a special 3 course meal, which I must say was also exceptional. The highlight for me was the duo of Exmoor Beef consisting of short rib and rump.The whole evening was great and would definitely go again if another event like this were to happen.

What a first class team and tribute to local food, melt in the mouth!! Just out if this world, A perfect location with a some teeing off beforehand made for a fantastic atmosphere and evening. See you all soon!!

Had the pleasure of attending this on Friday night and it was a fantastic meal. All three courses I had were exceptional and tasted fantastic! The service was also faultless, after being made to feel very welcome all night by the waiting staff. They were very polite and checked on us at every opportunity to ensure we had everything we needed, overall adding to what was an enjoyable evening.

Me and seven friends booked for the taste of Devon evening. The menu looked incredible on paper so we didn’t want to miss out. Everyone on the table enjoyed there food so much and the service was just as excellent.We’re all looking forward to the next one.Thanks to all staff and chefs for an incredible evening.

Had a wonderful experience whilst catching up with some friends. Food was amazing, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely be back when the weather improves for a few rounds if golf x

Great golf course with a fantastic undercover, lit driving range. All kept in great condition. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the clubhouse serve lovely food. Their beer, balls and burger nights are great value. Would definitely recommend.

Visited again today - love coming here. Beautiful family run venue. Nothing too much trouble, it’s a lovely place to visit for just coffee or food, not just a golf venue. And it’s nice to know I can take my little girl and it’s not a bother to anyone. Defiantly will be back! Thank you team Portmore.

So wonderfully and warmly received at Portmore, and enjoyed the catering, hospitality and gorgeous rolling course and the beautiful spring flower displays. Definitely worth a visit and road trip to find it!

I have eaten lunch at Portmore and it’s been excellent but this was a miserable excuse for a buffet served on plates little bigger than a saucer and comprising principally low cost carbohydrates- roast potatoes, chips, fried onion rings and garlic bread.

Lovely evening spent at portmore, very friendly staff and great food, loads of parking, would recommend.

New Year’s Eve spent at Portmore golf park, we had a fantastic time, great atmosphere with a warm welcome, great food & fireworks, easily served at the bar xx would certainly recommend it & will hopefully be going again this year xxx thank you Portmore xx

Brilliant night in an amazing atmosphere, our 3rd new year at portmore and will sure to be at the next! A really warm welcome, a choice of 4 different meals, fireworks and prosecco at midnight and a disco that seemed to go all night long, lovely vibe and a perfect new year's!

Excellent night, perfect venue for seeing in the new year with friends and family! Professional and friendly staff. Lots of meal choices to suit everyone, which were lovely! We danced the night away after seeing in the new year with a fire work display and a glass of bubbly. What more could you want! We will be back again next year! Thanks Portmore and your fantastic team!

Extremely disappointed venue quite nice paid £35 for ticket, when booking first 2 members of staff hadn’t a clue how to put card payment through and were unprofessional third staff member ( lady) very professional knew what she was doing.

Unfortunately we visited this for a "wake" but what a lovely spot. The greens visible looked in tip top condition with great views. The food served was all of excellent quality. The service from the staff was superb and very polite/helpful.

Visited Portmore whilst on holiday for a couple of rounds with my wife. Tremendously friendly welcome by the team at the clubhouse and the driving range is excellant.

Friendly staff, Carvery designed to suit all tastes and needs. Delicious desserts. Would certainly go back there.

We have visited this Golf Park for several years. Two members of the family are golfers. They welcome both seasoned golfers and novices. Tuition is available, either individual or group. The food is excellent and freshly cooked. Try the breakfast!! Lovely views can be enjoyed from inside and also on the terrace. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Mandy and Colin and Josh certainly know what they are doing

Played this course today and it is a challenging and interesting course. I have never however had to wait for green keeping staff who didn’t have the courtesy to let us play through expecting us to wait to play our shots into the green for over 5 holes. Whilst they have a job to do, the individuals flippant attitude was extremely disappointing

Large car park, Lovely warm welcome. Great cup of coffee. I had bacon and cheese baguette that was gorgeous with a lovely crusty roll. I will be back again.

Met with family yesterday, had a lovely meal in beautiful surroundings. The meals were delicious, the chips were some of the best I’ve had. Most of the party had curry and said it was really good. Two of us had dessert, the Bailey cheesecake, it was delicious. Well worth going here for a meal, I’m sure it won’t be our last. Thank you Mandy and the team.

Great place to go for dinner or golf. kids love the driving range. food excellent and always visit for a carvery. staff are very nice as well.

We played here last week and its a very hilly course. Not an issue but if you carry its worth getting a trolley.

This is a amazing golf course it’s clean and tidy they have great service here and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in golf

Went for a table tennis meal and had the carvery and baileys bubbles. Kind staff and very nice food. Amazing view of the sunset.

You will never recieve a warmer welcome than you will from the owner's, members and team at Portmore.

Five of us came here for Sunday lunch not knowing what to expect. We had a wonderful lunch and the welcome, food, service and ambiance was all perfect. There is a buffet style carvery and the selection of food on offer was perfect. If looking for a great location, excellent food and a friendly welcome then this is the place for you. I can't recommend Portmore Golf Club highly enough.

We've booked here for several reasons, never been left wanting! A funeral, an LVA Dinner Dance, there's nothing they can't execute with professional ease!

We decided to play this course after being quoted £90 a round at Saunton sands. This course accepts the county card and charged £17 pp. we did not expect much for that price but were pleasantly surprised. The course was lovely, well kept with gorgeous views from all the holes. The course is not the most difficult l have played but still a challenge for moderate handicappers.

We had called this week to prebook a carvery for our family. We informed the staff that there would be three vegetarians at the lunch. We were given two vegetarian options to choose from, of which we pre-ordered three nut roasts as the vegetarians wanted a carvery like the rest of the family. Upon arrival at the bar we were asked ‘what do you want?’ Not the nicest welcome , then shown to our table where we were told there were no nut roasts. Obviously when we Went to talk to who appeared to be a member of management, we were told “well sorry we can’t just magic up some”. What a disgusting attitude to have towards a family that had pre-booked a meal with three nut roasts in advance. We felt very let down, and our plans to use the venue in the future for an engagement have now changed.

Friendly service and always well booked for the exceptionally good Sunday Carvery service. Lots of locals and families and couples who enjoy high quality food in very nice smart surroundings that do feel rather special especially for functions and celebrations.

Attended a few times now for various social and work related visits. Always treated to a nice meal or buffet with Sunday roast being particularly good. Christmas party was interesting as they had a dynamic duo of 80 year olds running the DJ set! Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

I have been here a number of times, for a private function, which was slick & very professional! Also to use the golf range with my two boys. Staff are always helpful & attentive. highly recommended

Good course although a bit wet (it is the south west) not long but makes you think about your shot selection

The staff were enthusiastic, and the food was excellent! As a vegan I was looking forward to enjoying the veggies, and was impressed that the chef had arranged a special meal on a very busy service- thank you! Best I have had in a long time... Great place for any size group! Surprised this is the first review- highly recommended (but please book ahead to avoid disappointment as it s so popular). No membership required.
