If I'm paying £2.50 for a can of coke, It would nice to be offered a glass and ice with it. Iced latte, in a mug - really? Sausage baguette, sausage and baguette - nothing else, no salad, no crisps. I don't mind expensive, But please offer something to justify the price. The staff were nice though.

I had the misfortune to visit the cafe at a very busy time just as a coach party had arrived. The queuing system was chaotic and the dishwasher had broken again meaning that hot drinks were being served in horrid disposable cups. The last time I visited, on a quiet Monday morning, only diary milk was available, due to another broken machine. I have visited for coffee many times in the past and am usually impressed but they recently seemed to have lost the plot. The dishwasher is very unreliable!

Just popped in after visiting the Weald of Kent craft show. Plenty of parking. Long queues to order coffee and snacks. The coffee was fine but the food was atrocious. Victoria sponge was just a lump of soggy cake looking like it had been made by a child. The bacon roll was just as bad. Plenty of filling but the roll very unappetising, just a baguette looking like it had come out of a freezer. We won’t be returning.

This cafe is a lovely spot but the snacks are very pricey to the average people of penshurst ! And the toilets are dirty , these should be spotless ! They need to be checked every hour

Sadly this place is a bit dirty. Have been coming here for many years. Dust and dried food under the benches. Dirty marks and drink stains on the walls. Napkin dispenser on my table dirty and marked with spilled drinks. My panini and my partners were black on the bottom. Probably the heating device not cleaned properly. Dogs barking and shaking themselves scattering hair into the air. One big dog sniffing the food on display at the counter. What a shame. No complaints about the staff though. Polite efficient and helpful.

This place is a bit rubbish, I’m afraid. At these prices, it should be so much better. The layout is stupid, with no thought given to traffic, or where and how people will queue - so we were all constantly bumping into each other. Today the staff were all sulky teenagers: morale is clearly not high. They were all grumpy and gloomy. We were greeted in a surly manner, we were never offered or directed to cutlery or napkins, no smiles - it was all begrudging. Cakes and coffees were good, but coffee was served in unrecyclable paper cups, not nice to drink out of, and cake served on a plasticised cardboard box, again unrecyclable, and hard to eat out of. Apparently they haven’t heard of china cups or plates. Or, indeed, caring for the environment. This could be a nice place with a little more commitment from management to think about customer comfort, staff morale, and being a but greener. Please try harder. A lot harder, actually.

Despite the extension to the tea room, the menu has not been updated or expanded to include hot meals. The cake selection is very limited and looks bought in. Also limited selection of sandwiches and paninis. This would be a nice spot for lunch if they can sort the menu out. You used to be able to get hot food from the café inside Penshurst grounds but that closed some time ago. Seems like the pantry is mainly catering for groups of cyclists and not people who want to dine out.

Not an extensive menu, went on Father's Day, two specials bit none were veggie, perhaps as well. The "cheese" and pickle sandwiches were very unpleasant. The bread was slightly stale, but the big problem was the so called cheese, processed pre-sliced "cheese" with an unpleasant taste. Nasty. No lettuce/cucumber/tomato in sandwich, or on the plate.

This is to expensive the food all looks nice but it’s not that nice I paid £4 for 1 sausage roll!!! do specials cut the price for people who live in Penshurst and are not wealthy!!! If you live there you should get a discount anyway!! 🤔 and think of the elderly and unemployed who would love to eat here but can’t afford it !!!

There is a lot to like about Penshurst Place. But what we experienced this weeks renders this place a no-go again for us. The male staff(older men) bullied the young ladies serving at the front desk!! They were rude and unjust in the use of language. And blaming (out loud) them for mistakes that clearly was not their fault. We felt very uncomfortable and left. Whoever is in charge needs to look the culture of the place and eradicate these men who feel it’s ok to talk down to their staff and then to us as their customers. Mistakes happen. But to blame staff and clearly not understand the facts. And to do so out loud. Is unacceptable.

Oddly, the interior is closed, when everywhere else is now open. A tiny piece of dull dry cake with a cup of brown liquid (allegedly coffee?) both of which must be collected in person from separate serving hatches, before beginning the search for a table at which to consume such questionable 'fare.' These two very-much-sub-standard self-collected items (coffee and cake) yours, for .........EIGHT POUNDS!!! Suffice it to say, the al-fresco dining area looks NOTHING like that portrayed on this website, just randomly scattered grubby tables and chairs in varying states of repair, strewn across an uneven pebbled/dirt car parking area. I will be visiting Penshurst again, but never will I visit this 'establishment' again. Advice, eat elsewhere, andor take a flask of your favourite beverage, alternatively, just take a picnic.

We were invited for a cream tea last week by dear friends at the Prestigious Penshurst Place... what a disappointment. Coffee in the cafe was served in paper cups filled to the brim despite asking for cold milk, which was 'forgotten' then delivered in a mini paper cup , two tasteless lumps of scones with jam and cream in glass jars.. no butter and 'presented' in a cardboard box.. Served by polite ladies in dishevelled tee shirts... and the final insult charged £32.00, totally unacceptable. I wrote before posting this but no reply, so it would appear acceptable in this venue. What a contrast with Knole Park, cups, delicious scones and superb service... be warned before booking. JAO

Stopped by 12/9/20 as we normally do after a walk on Saturday morning (9.30am). Very disappointing the coffee was just froth lacking milk! The cake portions are very small for what you pay. There was no sanitizing hand wash outside despite a sign reminding you to clean your hands. Looked like new staff on as not ones I've normally seen. The person in charge looked scruffy and wearing no apron like the rest of the staff, seemed to spend more time outside having a smoke! Standards seemed to have slipped.

We love a walk around the Penshurst estate and we definitely enjoy some refreshment after, but sadly the Fir Tree Tearoom is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we decided to try the Porcupine Pantry. The place is bright, clean, nice relaxing modern decor. The staff are friendly, helpful and quite efficient. We ordered tuna mayo jacket potatoes and tea for 1. Total price £14.40. The service was quick. The food hot, tasty, well cooked and nicely served though a bit more effort could go into the salad garnish - maybe a spoon of coleslaw and some onion to add to a sliver of tomato, 3 slices of cucumber and 4 lettuce leaves. But all in all, good value for money. They have a classic captive market here with visitors to Penshurst Place but they don’t milk it. Prices are reasonable. £7.50 for the jacket potatoes. £2.50 for a pot of tea for one. That makes a nice change not to be ripped off with ridiculous prices. But they could do a bit better. Mobile signals are spasmodic here and though you can see the WiFi boosters on the wall and find them on your phone, no password is evident. You shouldn’t have to ask for the password nowadays. You just need a QR code on the wall every so often. Also they ask for comments on a pre-printed card with a chance to win a meal for 2. But nowhere on the card is there a space for your personal details. They say it’s a printing error. So why not bin all those cards and get the job done properly? So will we go there again? Oh yes. Nice place, quick service, good food. A nice spot to take the weight off and get a snack lunch or tea and cakes. If they’d got WiFi access sorted and reprinted those cards, they WOULD have got 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

11 friends today walked the area around Penshurst Place. We were looking forward to tea and cake at the Porcupine Pantry operated by Kudos Catering. How disappointed were we? My tea cup and saucer were dirty, I was given another that one was also dirty so I went to the ladies toilet and washed it myself. The chocolate brownies were tasteless, we all had various cakes and every single one was dreadful We won’t be eating here again. Shame as it’s such a lovely setting.

We visited Penshurst place over the Easter weekend and enjoyed a fantastic walk around the house and grounds in the sun, we visited the Porcupine Pantry before our walk, the menu was full of delicious choices and after a little time we settled on a couple of sandwiches from their selection. The presentation and taste was absolutely spot on, and delivered with speed, we were tended to by Hollie who was an absolute joy, smiling, polite and funny throughout our interaction with her. She is an asset to the Porcupine Pantry. We popped back a few hours later after our walk and again saw Hollie by chance and were recommended a choice of cakes to accompany our cup of tea and the one we chose did not disappoint, light, fluffy and packed with flavour. I would definitely suggest visiting and sampling the wonderful menu and service.

Service not that quick, not a lot of seating inside there is more outside, but there were mainly smokers and dogs sat outside on the day we visited. Some variance in portion size, i.e. we had four ice creams, three vanilla ice creams came in tubs and obviously been scooped out of a larger container, the strawberry and vanilla came in its own pot and was a bigger portion!

I had a couple of hours to kill while on business in Sevenoaks, and fancied an all day breakfast. I googled and found this little place off the beaten track (didn't want to pay for parking!). Really tasty full English breakfast and a good cup of coffee, and ever so great value at £8.00. Maybe not the greatest venue, but definitely worth it for the food.

I’ve been going to this cafe on and off for 10 years. I have to say my experience has gone downhill since Covid. My recent visit has been very disappointing . I ordered a Spinach and Mushroom Quiche with salads. First of all, the Quiche was still frozen in the middle. Secondly, I didn’t even have time to argue because my daughter has been stung by a wasp. Totally understood this is normal in warm weather but the Cafe’s reaction has been shocking. I went to the counter to ask for some ice. It took at least 5 mins for the waiter to get it despite I can see a bag of ice lying on the table with 1 waitress standing next to it chatting to another lady. I asked can someone just give me the ice as my daughter is crying in pain. I was told someone has gone to get first aid and they can’t “just give me the ice”. After another 5 mins, the first aid has finally showed up. After asking what happened, his words are: oh…..I’m afraid there is not much I can do. I said can you grab me some ice please? It is at that point we finally got the ice!!! I washed my daughter’s wound with some soapy water after a quick google on what to do. I’m not a fully qualified first aid by no means. The cafe has an outside sitting area and wasp sting would be very common. Pleas train your staff on what to do or get some wasps trap like Polhill did. Very disappointing and I would have to end my visit after 10 years. Service standard has gone down too. Most of them look like they don’t want to work there and have a terrible attitude.

Add coffees before we went around the house and there were plenty of tables both inside and outside. Having visited the house we then went back for some lunch and had a variety of items from the menu. All items were very tasty and well presented. The staff on the counters were fine. They could’ve been a bit more efficient doing hot drinks when there was a big queue, else food and service was really good.
