Me and my dad went last month and we each had one of their new baguettes and they were amazing. It was my first time going and I was so happy with how filled and delicious the sandwiches were. I also loved the fact the food felt home made but something my home couldn't make if that makes sense.

I’m a carer and I take my client here every Monday for lunch I was disappointed at the amount of soup that was in the bowl when we took the lid off, half a tin of soup and half a baguette £6.50, also a luxury hot chocolate £4.50 supposed to come with cream, marshmallows and a flake , we don’t have the marshmallows but they put half a flake stuck in the top , as before you would have a whole small flake not half and it was £4.25, so you’re paying £4.50 for less, won’t be going here again not worth the money 😊

A welcoming restaurant and well frequented the décor was acceptable and mood provoking. Service at the till seemed prompt albeit the choice of cakes and or sweets were very limited but what was available was very high quality. Now, whilst the restaurant wasn't THAT busy the table service was very poor, taking over 15 minutes for the coffees to arrive and they were much colder than perfect. Porcellinis is a very pleasant restaurant but some attention needs to be paid to service. I'd say their success is probably due to lack of ANY competition.

Someone recommended it so we made a booking for an afternoon tea. Rang in advance to choose sandwich fillings. Lovely fresh brown bread and very tasty fillings. Various cakes, grapes, crisps, coleslaw and chocolate covered strawberries. And of course, finished of with scones, cream and jam. Plenty of tea provided, coffee and Prosecco available. Overall, made to feel very welcome by staff. However, our thanks to husband and wife duo. So polite, so helpful. Arnold Schwarzenegger- I’ll be back. We will be back. Really enjoyed it. Thank you.

Very poor quality and expensive, staff pleasant enough although lack experience and nice setting but the food really does let the place down. We will give it one more try and if no improvement we will be crossing it off our list of places to visit. Will give it a while though its going to take a while to get over yesterdays visit!

A while ago we had a refund after waiting nearly an hour for food + drinks which never arrived. Customers arriving after us were served before us. We weren't the only ones this happened to. No reason for this but plenty of excuses given, none of them politely. Today another long wait for drinks and had the wrong order brought to us 4 times. Never again !

When taking my son to school, (this was his first week in nursery school) I had promised him an ice cream in the cafe weve walked past every day. So today we go in, there are approx 12 people there. After being ignored by who I assume was in charge there for a while was told that my order ( I hadn’t even made one yet ?) would be at least half an hour, I did ask half an hour for an ice cream and a sandwich ? Yes she said . So I had to take a now crying 3 year old out to find an alternative somewhere else. Won’t be going there again. It also looked pretty shabby inside.

My mother and I popped here for a quick lunch amidst the madness of Christmas shopping. It was sufficiently busy but we found a table and ordered two bowls of soup- one tomato and the other leek and potato. Both came served with a half warm baguette and butter. Both the soups were delicious and obviously homemade. The service was quick and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed. There were Christmas tunes playing in the background too. With two bottles of water the bill came to just over £10. Well worth the money.

My girlfriend is a tough one to please. She doesn’t like fancy stuff, or posh food, or alcohol. This can make going for time out together a challenge. I’ll tell you what she does like mind - she likes painting mugs. Seriously, we had an amazing time. Relaxed, homey, not overpriced. Food was as much bacon and cheese as could physically be fit in a baguette. I was happy. Delightful place, both staff (visit was Sat 7th) were helpful, friendly and polite. Couldn’t recommend enough for a fun, different date.

I have been here on a few occasions since it's the closest thing I have to a local coffee shop, however I don't think I'll bother going back. On more than one occasion I've tried to buy a coffee to be told quite tersely "we're closed"... 45+ minutes before their advertised closing time. I've also been turfed out under similar conditions, finishing my drink while talking to a friend only to be told to leave long before actual closing time. From reading other reviews I would guess this is the manager, which is incredibly worrying.I appreciate this is an independently run business and the owner can close whenever they please, but I honestly have no idea how this place stays in business with that kind of attitude. Perhaps it's the lack of competition which keeps people coming back.

I have visited this cafe for the last five years making it one of my favourite cafes. Unfortunately I have noticed over the last six months a gradual decline in quality and quantity of food and beverages. The portions of meals have diminished making them not very good value for money. The quality is also not as high quality as it used to be, not always hot or tasty the cottage pie is more potato pie with a very little meat content. The coffee is not always hot and has increased in price twice over the past year. The staff are hit and miss as I find some of them cheerful helpful and friendly and others appear to have suffered a charisma bypass. Also the management are very unprofessional towards their staff - I have witnessed them disciplining their junior staff in earshot of me the public and leading to them being very upset and shedding tears. Finally the cleanliness levels have dropped drastically I have observed food items which has been dropped on the floor remaining there for a week or more until it is finally cleaned up.

A bit disappointed with todays lunch. No baguettes left so ordered some sandwiches. The beef and horseradish was all horseradish with tasteless, thin sliced beef. The cheese and bacon sandwich was very random - warm bacon with melted cheese in a non-toasted sandwich. That's a new one to me!My bottled water was served without a glass but the coffee was superb.I normally love it here but I think the birthday party affected the service.

Had been told the food here was nice so thought I would pop in about 3.15pm. Was rudely told they were shut. When I asked why (usually closes at 4 according to the website) they rude women behind the counter just told us to get out. If I was kindly told that they had a quiet day and decided to shut early I wouldn't have minded however the way I was spoke to I won't be visiting again. I take it from the other comments it was the manageress and she has a bit of a reputation for being unpleasant.

I visited Porcellinis with my husband and nieces in March. First thing we noticed was that the selection of items to paint was very limited, even for a 5 year old girl! The choice of paint colours was also appalling, a strange selection, lacked even the basic colours. We were left to it when we arrived, not even shown a table. Self-service all the way! We ordered food, it was alright, nothing to write home about. Jacket potatoes, sandwiches - simple stuff. We paid for our items after painting and were told to pick them up in 2 weeks. As we weren't from the area my mother in law picked up the items for us. Having received them from her this weekend I can say I am seriously disappointed. My husband and I settled on a chip 'n' dip bowl at £30 (wouldn't have chosen that ordinarily, the choice of items was poor and this was the best on offer) and I can honestly say that the glazing has ruined it. There is no way we'd ever dream of bringing out the bowl with guests. The glaze has been so badly applied it looks as if PVA has been dribbled over it, giving it a milky grubby colour. There are also finger prints embedded into it. I have had numerous items glazed before and this is beyond appalling. What a disgusting waste of my money. I felt that they should have owned up, stated they had messed up the glazing and offered a refund but my mother in law was offered nothing. Very poor service, will defiantly not be recommending it to anyone! It's a shame because the premises has the potential to be highly successful.

Nice little place.I find a lot of coffee shops are cramped but the layout here is perfect- keeps it very spacious. Our drinks were good, nice little selection and the food looked lovely (I didn't try any mind). I found it a little pricey, reducing drinks by a few pence would certainly make things more appealing. Child friendly- and during my visit the children were very well behaved. Lovely staff. Room for a few small improvements mind. My drink wasn't served with a napkin- would have been nice. Plus no wifi. Wifi in a coffee shop goes a long way these days. I would certainly have appreciated it- plus to me it justifies the slightly pricey drinks. They're just personal little quibbles though- overall a good experience.

Have been several times but today had to be the worst experience have had.Went with a friend this afternoon for tea and cake, one order was filled very quickly , whilst we had to enquire of second order to be to.d they had lost the receipt, but could remember serving us. It was like a fee crèche for wild children. I appreciate that it's a family friendly place however this does not mean children can run wild, as their parents are busy ignoring and keeping them under control, they will all be quick to sue when there is an accident. Did ask was it always as bad as this with children running hiding under tables climbing over furniture pulling things off.I would like to add that before people assume I do not have children I have two, but they have been brought up how to behave and with parents who don't ignore them. I am posting this because it's bern like this last few time but worst today need alternate cafe to go to as staff clearly didn't object, I know not to go there again, a shame as the fresh orange juice is lovely.

I would regard myself as "one of the captive audience" as referred to in a previous post. I have been a regular visitor to Porcellini's since it first opened. The staff there are simply fantastic and most accommodating. For example if you order the all day breakfast and don't want hash browns or mushrooms or black pudding, you can request double of what you DO like. Apart from the occasional delay, during busy times, I could not recommend this place highly enough. Great food, pleasant surroundings, good coffee, competitively priced - 10/10 from me! Greg Lamerton

Been going to this cafe about three times a week for years and some of the comments on TripAdvisor are very unfair. The staff cannot do enough for you and are extremely pleasant at all times. As with all businesses they get their busy periods and because the staff are preparing fresh quality food it can cause the odd delay but this is not a fast food shop. What it is, is a very light and airy place where you can go and sit down in leather chairs and relax in a good atmosphere. There are incentive schemes for loyal customers and the food is fresh. What could be better. I would not want to pick out any particular member of staff as being better than the rest because the service they all give could not be better.
