Poppy's at Winterton on Sea in Great Yarmouth

Lovely venue (we sat in the courtyard garden), attentive but not over attentive staff and lovely food. Had the big breakfast and it was great and so big I skipped lunch!

Non touristy welcoming hidden gem. Gorgeous coffee and freshly cooked breakfasts - sausages the dog may fight you for! Dogs welcome Very clean and cosy, good value for money and not expensive.

Invaded by 11 of us, aged 3 to 65, Poppy’s coped admirably. It’s a smallish cafe so we sat over a few tables, orders taken quickly and food brought in table batches - so sensible. Everybody loved their food and I think every plate was cleared.

Interesting cafe ; full to brim with nostalgia items from WW2. Music too. Food was ok ; was very busy but staff very helpful and found us a table quickly with little waiting time

Wartime themed restaurant, fantastic value. Family orientated, lovely staff, great decoration and memorabilia.

Fantastic tea room in Winterton on sea,it had a nice outdoor seating area.Food was excellent I had a tuna melt panini and a date slice. Also dog friendly. Will visit again when I’m in the area

We go here once a week for breakfast after an early morning walk with our dog on the beach. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. They make our dog more than welcome and have a menu especially for dogs. The outside garden is an extra asset this summer.

A visit to the charming village of Winterton-On-Sea. The only downside is Poppy's Tearoom located in the post office. Apparently, open till 3 pm, I got there at a fraction after 2pm. Staff seemed to be very unresponsive. An uninspiring gentleman behind the counter, said they stopped cooking food at 2pm. So I asked for a ploughman's and was told they couldn't do it (didn't realise that was cooked!!). Avoid at all costs, and it was empty (I wonder why!!). It could have been from a scene in the TV series The League of Gentlemen!!! Perhaps changing their hours might be a way forward. Then again, they obviously don't want to make any money and turn away customers. However the Sealview cafe on the beach car park is excellent and the staff are very friendly and obliging. Also, The Fishermen's Return is worth a visit

My daughter and I had breakfast at Poppy’s on 29 and 30 June 2023. The service was excellent from the very friendly and professional staff who made us feel very welcome, as did Poppy the dog. Both the inside and outside eating areas were very comfortable and welcoming. On both days I had a sausage bap, and they were the best sausage sandwiches I have ever had. I asked for the sausages to be well done and they were perfect. The baps were soft and fresh and delicious. My daughter had sausage rolls on both days and said they were the best she had ever tasted. Thank you so much.

Poppys is a lovely general store cum post office cum cafe - we stopped off for a breakfast and weren’t disappointed. A full English, sitting outside in the sunshine surrounded by friendly people (and their dogs) was exactly what was needed. It’s a rarity to be get tomatoes on the vine as part of a fry-up but that’s what we got. The sausages were sublime and the bacon cooked to perfection. Cannot fault Winterton as a destination in any way - everyone was so nice and it’s a beautiful place to visit. If you come, you won’t be disappointed.

Popped into this shop on a very quiet June morning & took away 2 very nice lattes.. Gentleman, behind the post office counter is very much a Victor Meldrew character and as for the earlier comments about the big sleeping elderly dog been a guard dog you have to smile inwardly. Winter on its self is VERY dog friendly but not Poppys who make it very clear that they aren’t.. We’re here for the week, so they have lost out on several breakfasts & coffee addictions but would rather go elsewhere where we’re all welcomed happily…

I've never seen a person running a shop with such a foul attitude...why would anyone want to go in that shop to be made to feel uncomfortable by the grumpy rude man behind the counter. Maybe the foods ok I wouldn't know as I couldn't get out of there quick enough. If there was to be a prize for the grumpiest rudest shop keeper in the county/Country nailed on he'd win!!

Popped into Poppys for breakfast before setting off home to Hertfordshire, we had been visiting my sister and partner who live in the village. Great service and great coffee, superb full English breakfast for me, which set me up for the day, thoroughly enjoyable and buzzy place, we will certainly return and will take a leaf out of my brother in laws book and pop in each morning on our next trip to Winterton for a coffee, you will know my brother in law Ron.
