Decided to go to an independent cafe and saw Poppy. On entering the server wasn't very welcoming and didn't greet me smile etc. The front area is nice and bright and looks inviting. The back area where i sat was a combination of storage and tables. It was very dark and depressing and had a cold feeling. It was like two completely different places. The pot of tea was very average. When I went to pay she didn't tell me the amount just put the card reader in front of me and I had to read the price from there. A very disappointing visit. I won't be back.

What a lovely little find! Enjoyed a beautiful bacon and mushroom roll and a good pot of tea, with friends at Poppy. We were welcomed by the pleasant proprietor, who served our order quickly and efficiently . Would definitely recommend and would definitely visit again on another trip to Edinburgh.

We both had wraps. These were made fresh, with a large helping of fill. The options were unique and very flavoursome. Would highly recommend. We thought there were only 2 tables, but there are more in the rear of the cafe. Kelly is very friendly and welcoming. Overall a very pleasant surprise. We will be back when next in Stockbridge.

Very small cute cafe mostly for take away; it does have one table. The falafel wrap was rather tasty.

Nice little cafe just opposite the cathedral on the royal mile. A tad pricey but a nice little find for a quick coffee and bite to eat whilst exploring.

I wanted to love this Indian street food spot, it had a cool vibe, smelled great, laid back and great soundtrack. But the food was tasteless. First, while they promote the Bombay sapphire gin, they simply won’t make their also advertised gin martini out of it, even for an up-charge. I rolled and took their version which was a citrusy lime affair, when everyone who matters knows gin martinis are meant to be served dirty and with olives. Maybe that’s the New York girl in me, but moving on, the Papadam had not an ounce of cumin, seed or powder, just puffed dough. Similarly, the Haka noodles were mush and honestly tasted like nothing except maybe vinegar. Maybe the mains are better, but I’d try your luck elsewhere. My 3 purchased items are all going back mostly untouched.
