Lovely breakfast, great selection, busy but happy staff, yummy hot drinks, not feeling rushed

We are never disappointed when we come to eat here. We had our Christmas meal here for the 2nd time running and absolutely loved our carvery and desserts. It's the best carvery and food in the town.

Came here tonight for carvery. No mash available, veg rock hard, potatoes burnt and pretty much inedible. Couldn't even cut the Yorkshire pudding it had been sat for so long. Meat fatty and not nice at all. Been here before and it was good then but horrible tonight couldn't even eat it and just left. Not impressed and won't be back

Food portions for kids was disgusting ( this was a big kids double chips) Portions vary greatly and told by waitress this is just how it is ? Adults food had tiniest amount of cheese and sauce and arrived cold Will not return here all waitresses looked overworked and miserable Asked for manager was told it’s there day off and no one could deal with complaint

Absolutely shocking. Zero customer service, food is the worst I’ve had in a long time and don’t you dare try to engage with the carvery ‘chef’, he may chase you with a knife!! Would give this place a zero if I could

Had a very nice meal only a small plate but more than enough. Our waitress was Elizabeth ( Liz )was very helpful ,chatty and pleasant.

Was due to come on Christmas day however had to change to new years day due to family circumstances, they was happily able to do this request for us and was able to add an extra person on when asked. On the day staff especially Liz who served us was very friendly Thank you for a lovely meal as always Happy new year to you all

Prompt and friendly service. Food was served quickly and was a great portion size. Most of us took our cakes away with us as we couldn't manage. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Our favourite local pub for food. Great value. Particularly recommend the beef and ale pie, chicken combo and the carvery.

Poor staffing + rude - didn’t explain food wouldn’t be served but had to get it by given in a token (was handed to me saying receipt) When I gave the token to the chief (server) he threw a tantrum - and then handed me a plate which was burning hot (gave me minor superficial blisters) - as someone nearly graduating as a doctor it made me question if this was someone else could have ended very badly for skin. I act dropped the plate swearing in pain. The chief said “I did tell you - as he handed it into my hands” - I asked him how he held it, and he said my hands have got used to it being this hot and he held it in his finger tips apparently. I personally felt like it was done on purpose becus he was annoyed the token for the Calvery had a bit of gum on which I had act tried to cover up with another ticket on its back side. Regardless it was very very poor service. Was not impressed. Took a friend her for his birthday - would not think about coming back again, defiantly would not take kids or family

Just had a really nice meal here, chicken curry with rice and chips, poppadom and naan bread with mango dip. I eally enjoyed it, just a comment that the tikka sauce was slightly thin but did not distract from the flavour I would certainly have again. Partner had Louisiana chicken strips and chips and said she really enjoyed the meal. Really nice portions and very helpful and pleasant staff. Only downside I messed up ordering on the app at the table my internet had a wobbly and appears I may have paid twice, just have to see outcome.

We have been all family for special Christmas dinner Wednesday night Food wasn’t hotter it’s just warm and Instead of serving turkey and ham they served only chicken, he said sorry we have run out with turkey n ham, We didn’t say anything it’s just going with flow and children playing aria was no heating, I need to think before I go again.

Awesome Festive Family Fun. Had an amazing time today having our family Christmas get together a day earlier than normal and at Poppy Fields Far.. We pre-booked from the Festive Menu and to say it was awesome was an understatement. The staff were attentive and friendly especially our friendly elf helper (all dressed up bless her) and the manager who resolved a small issue we had quickly. You are all working over the festive period and giving up time with your own families to make our Christmas special and we really appreciate all of those involved. Thank you. I would definitely recomend. Good food, good value, lovely location and an awesome team!

As always the food was amazing, unfortunately they ran out Guinness so had to switch to something else... Our food was ordered to come out all together as we had starters but the starters came out 1st and then our table wasn't waited on so we had to chase our mains.. a few of our friends had finished there dinner before my families even came out.. so the service wasn't the best but the food is too good so we will always return

Went today at 3pm, although Christmas eve it didn't seem very busy at that time of day Husband ordered a steak that stated it came with grilled tomato and onion rings, it arrived without, on mentioning it to waiter he said they don't come with them anymore!! we checked the menu and it clearly said comes with grilled tomato and onion rings, that's his favourite bit!!! Steak was cooked well done but no one came to " foodcheck" to see if everything was OK ? Thought that was standard? We ordered dessert, I ordered the chocolate brownie sundae but was given chocolate fudge cake, tbf the man that bought it out offered to change it but I said don't worry, but I didn't enjoy it as not a cake fan, my fault. The toilets were also disgusting, all I all a bit dissatisfied with today's visit Had similar things there before but gave another chance Not sure we,ll return

Real disappointment, food was quick but didn't enjoy the meals at all, 2 people had Chip Shop Supper the battered sausages were so Hard we couldn't get our forks in so that was inedible and the fish was horrible, peas tasted like they were microwaved, dessert was nice but one lady black hair was really rude didn't even say please and thank you and was absolutely miserable didn't even looked bothered at all, used to be amazing now it's gone downhill sadly won't be returning anytime soon 😡

Had a great Sunday lunchtime, good food, great atmosphere.

Came here for a works Christmas meal. Very disappointed. All started when we walked in the door. Asked if our table was ready which it wasn't. I didn't see this as a major problem. I waited to one side as we were still waiting for other people to come. Nobody came to us when it was ready and had to ask again about 10 mins later. There was only one other party that was sat down after my initial inquiry. We were sat down at our table and we went to get drinks, this was our second problem. The woman behind the bar didn't really have a care in the world. I asked her a simple question about soft drinks and the response and her body language were very negative. I was also given a warm glass. We received our starters and was not impressed. One of my colleagues had a maple-flavoured vegetable soup which looked horrible and didn't really taste of anything. I had some brie bites that were tasteless and the place had run out of cranberry sauce so had to substitute for another dip. The mains was a carvery which was ok, the guy doing the carvery was very generous with the meat, Yorkshire pudding and pigs in blankets but the cheesy mash looked and tasted just like normal mash and the cranberry sauce was substituted for apple sauce but still sat under a sign saying cranberry sauce. Dessert came and this was very disappointing. My colleague ordered a Christmas pudding but this looked and tasted nothing like it. It tasted more like ginger cake. I had the cherry Christmas bauble which tasted like nothing, only got the taste of the sauce.

A large party about 38 of us went in today for our Christmas meal, the food which was reasonably priced, service and atmosphere was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Food excellent value for money BUT THERE WAS NO-one on the carvery for a considerable time and when he did arrive he did not impress. I ( a 74 year old man) was told off for helping myself to a plate and not to do it again I explained it was my first visit and there was unlikely to be a second. He made no attempt to recover the situation just shrugging his shoulders

Went to poppyfields for my grandads birthday. Food was amazing and service outstanding. Poppy and Jacob were especially lovely and attentive. 10/10

Hi recently visited your restaurant and experienced awful customer service whilst ordering my carvery the lady serving on the till was very rude with rude expressions and a very rude tone she was also tapping the till very hard and angrily will not be coming again her name was elisabeth

My colleagues and I was up today for the turkey and tinsel with a group of people that we support. Everyone had a lovely time. The food was amazing. All the staff were absolutely brilliant. Everyone loved the entertainment aswell.

A tad slow had to ask re pudding Food was OK The vegetables were nice but Broccoli overcooked Meat was not as nice as the Toby Carvery in Hunsbury but the carver was much more welcoming

Honestly amazing! We used to go Trading post in Kettering for our catch ups with friends and my daughter but after two years it keeps going downhill, food and service was horrible so we stopped going. I tried Toby carvery and didn't like that then found this place well we loved it! Brilliant we ordered at the table and can get out own drinks. Bonus points for the little play area kept my daughter entertained. Food was brilliant! Honey roasted parsnips and lovely Yorkshire's and a nice vegetarian opinion! We are now going to come here instead. Also now looking at booking the buffet breakfast. We live in Wellingborough so worth the drive in my opinion. Thank you so much for a great experience and please don't change!

The roasts here used to be really good, but every time I've been here the last three times, I have been served very fatty beef

Turkey & Tinsel event with entertainment was fantastic. There were 15 of us and the food, service and entertainment was exceptional. It was that good, the 90 year old's got up dancing and really enjoyed the afternoon. Thank you to all the Staff.xxx

Arrived Saturday morning 1045. I was spoken to at the till. "Morning Guys" are you here for the Breakfast buffet? Yes I replied. Sorry it's finished was the reply even though there was lots of food and the staff were still serving people. Very rude and really not the way to speak to people who have come to spend money.

Appalling. Was disgusted at the way we got treated when we arrived with our service dog. We showed the staff our id for the handler and the dog, she said “ it looks genuine, then she asked me to produce the paperwork work, and to wait there until she got the manager. It was embarrassing. All the other customers were looking to see what was going on. We left at that point. Never ever have we been treated like this before. And we visit a lot of places. Don’t bother trying this place. The building is ugly too. Im not sure why we even attempted to try this place. Not my normal kind of pub. I’m all for the traditional village pub. Not the modern pubs.

This isn't a rant, I spent many years in the pub trade and know exactly how very busy feels in this game. As a rule I try to leave positive reviews - I just go elsewhere rather than leave a bad review. That said today's experience fell considerably short of the service we'd had before. We booked our table for my Dad's Birthday in September, only to find when we arrived that the Front of House team had managed to lose control of their tables. We were forced to wait for twenty minutes before rearranging tables to squeeze us in. My wife's chair was soaked, which really made her day. I appreciate staff can't have known that and didn't complain. I did however tell staff, who then promptly tucked it under another table. Five minutes later they showed another unsuspecting party to the table. I jumped in before the lady sat down, and then they did something about it. We had an issue over my 16 year son being refused permission to drink a shandy with his meal. They claimed it wasn't allowed, which when I tried to explain it is legally allowed. If they'd said it was company policy I'd have accepted it. They did not though, they just kept refusing telling me it's not allowed, but offered us a free round. Pretty pointless when we'd got bottomless drinks and can't drink one of the shandies. The barmaid who served us clearly shouldn't be in a customer facing role - It doesn't matter how bad your day's been in hospitality, you need to be hospitable. You'll know who I mean if you visit, because every other member of staff are great. The hair in the food, and old stale chips just wasn't a suprise by the time we started eating.

Women 4 Women group had a wonderful evening at Poppy Field Farm. We arrived to a beautifuly decorated grotto style entrance. The hostess Denise was very organised with our very large 2 table order. She and her team went out of their way to make us feel special with a warm welcome and a relaxed attitude to new requests. The waiter and bar staff could not have been more amenable. The food came swiftly , was hot and very tasty. The carvery was very generous and of a very hight standard indeed with all the trimmings.

Never again. Extremely overated. More like feeding time at the zoo.

The staff were miserable and rude. The food was disgusting. When I complained about our food. I was told, nothing really they can do. Haven't been for a while until this last weekend. However, we shall never go again. I shall also pass our awful experience on to friends and family.

Just had a carvery roast dinner delivered, arrived late & stone cold.. two meat choice , we had gammon & beef… well if i had a mechanical jaw & sharks teeth i think i could have eaten the beef, but i dont !!! It was absolutely disgusting the roast potatoes were burnt to the point you could actually taste the burn, it was like eating charcoal. I am 100% sure that because it was a delivery you get the dregs of everything…Absolutely Revolting…FIRST & LAST TIME OF EVER ORDERING FROM HERE AGAIN

I was treated to a carvery lunch at Poppyfield for Thanksgiving. The restaurant was warm inside and decorated for Christmas. It looked lovely! All of the food on the carvery was delicious (especially the gammon) and the staff were very friendly.

Certainly gone downhill, poor wine and real ale selection, no sandwiches or rolls on offer

Went with my wife and good friends. Went for a nice Sunday dinner. We had two standard meals and one large one. Was good. Then had desert apple crumble chocolate fudge cake.

Friendly atmosphere, great food, affordable prices.

The meat, even the turkey full of gristle! Why would a carvery not serve the countries favourite veg ...peas!

Came here for my birthday last weekend and loved every second of it! It was perfect, the staff were very accomadating and friendly, service was perfect. Our orders were out in good time and the food was amazing, considering there were 16 of us and the pub was very busy it was a incredible job by your team, you’d have thought we were the only table in the restaurant. I’ve always loved this pub and you didn’t disappoint!

We took our 18 month old grandson here for lunch with us. The carvery was delicious and a very good price. The children's menu was excellent and also good value, with plenty of choice. It was a shame the plates for the carvery weren't warmed, like some places do, because we did notice the food went cold rather quickly. There was a little play area, that was free to use, and although more could probably be made of it, our grandson was very happy playing there. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't be more helpful, they were very welcoming. We shall definitely return

There is a large spacey pub, plenty of car parks, plenty of seating inside and outside, clean, fresh and welcoming. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The service was quick and the food was hot. There is a small area for toddlers to play. The toilet was clean and outstanding . Different sizes of tables including booking in large family.

We came as 3 adults and a child for my partners 40th us 3 adults had a large carvery and little one chicken nuggets and fries. Was a fantastic place to go with little kids he had so much fun making friends and playing in the kids area. Really nice friendly place and to top it of coffee and fizzy drink is bottomless.

Love the food, love the staff, basically everything. Wouldn’t have it any other way 😁😊

Just want to say a big thank you for our complimentary carvery due to our anniversary meal that went a bit wrong! We throughly enjoyed the food today and it was really lovely. Only thing I would suggest is where we were seated, was quite close to the cloths and spray and we could smell the stale cloths. I think they need to be moved to a different area and there was also a lady with short blonde hair standing at that counter coughing everywhere without covering her mouth and we heard her say ‘I’m going out for a fag’ then all we could smell was cigarette smoke when she was standing at the area. Thanks for a great meal!!

Booked for 4 people to visit for my sons breakfast, we arrived spot on time to be told breakfast was finished, the website still accepted booking for another 1.5 hrs! When I asked about the issue the waiting staff just said sorry I don't make the decisions.

Went for breakfast, the buffet style breakfast offered plenty of choice and all was fresh and hot. The tea/coffee machine broke down twice while we were there which was a pain in the rear, not many staff about either which meant quite a wait at the bar to order and a wait to get the coffee machine back up and running.

Great food , the carvery is unreal 😋 👌

Elizabeth served us on the till and she had a terrible attitude. My husband asked her what allergens were in the cake and she said that's not my job to know we don't give allergy information. We then pointed out that there was a sign that said you can ask about any allergens on the menu she said the sign shouldn't say that. We spoke to another staff member who was able to provide us with a ingredients list. It's a really bad attitude towards allergies and for a team leader she come across as very rude and wanted to pass the problem onto someone else.

Smaller menu and out to us in 15 minutes. Food was hot and enjoyed it thank you

Going purely based on evening dining... Relatively good atmosphere; 50/50 on staff customer service skills. Think further development in this department would be valuable for all customer facing colleagues. Unfortunately, not all staff had the same "vibe" between them all. It doesn't actually come across as you are in the same place.

The carvey was hot an fresh , good choice of meats/veggies. Fantastic customer service on tills an wait staff. great prices and just overall great atmosphere.

Waited a long time for starters,even longer for main meal (about 45 minutes approx) then when it eventually arrived wasn't great ,food was luke warm,got refund but definitely won't be rushing back again

Went for carvery at 11:40, nice place and working locally. Brought ticket and got in queue, server was back and forth which thought was strange but after 5 minutes he made us aware it doesn't open til 12. No issue but would of been nice to of been told when purchasing. Went up at 12 and all was good although the roast potatoes were not crispy, beef roasts also soggy, overall was OK but fresh would of been so much better as the food was out when we walked in so been sat a while. Would visit again but not immediately after opening

Been several times for breakfast always very good, came today first time today for a carvery and was also very good. Good selection of vegetables and well cooked meat. Cake lovely too.

New to the area and was dubious as I don't usually like buffets. However I was pleasantly surprised. Had the breakfast buffet which was hot, fresh and tasted good. Good value for the price. The coffee is okay too. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was noticeably clean and tidy inside and out. Definitely want to return to try the lunch Yorkshire wrap, have a carvery and get a takeaway. Not all at once. I was too full to try a cake but they are huge and they are displayed in a way that is very reminiscent of the USA. I would like to try one though one day.

Stopped off for a carvery lunch, plenty of choice on vegetables

I am extremely disappointed with the delivery. I just recieved my first delivery from there, normally i go in and its a good experience, however there are items missing, like my pigs in blanket, and the meat portion was appalling, normally its good but it looked like it had been under a heat lamp for over an hour as a slice and not from the joint itself, i work in hospitality i know what that looks like, it was so dry and the gravy did not help. I had to throw over half out because it honestly felt like they just gave me the dregs from the food that had been taken off service. I also rang up to give my vegetable order, since there are no options to choose what vegetables you want on the delivery site, and it felt like the guy who answered the phone was acting like it was a chore for me to choose my own vegetables, which is the whole point of a carvery, you choose. Love going in, the only reason i didnt is because i am unwell at the moment, but im never going to order delivery again

When I came on the weekend I was served by a young man with a mullet who was extremely helpful and chatty with us the whole evening, we had a few with certain dietary requirements and he was really helpful in showing us what we could and could not have, food was delicious and service made it even better

I have never been happier with a carvery,, until today I ordered to collect a 3 meat standard meal, I'm very disappointed , tiny bits of meat only 2 vegetables?, and a gigantic chunk of stuffing. Very poor 😢

All tables reserved when we arrived so nowhere to sit to be told tables were reserved for later and we could use them. Food was OK. If I lived locally not somewhere I would visit often..

It's ok to get you fed but the food is nothing to write home about and the staff seem very rushed. A little on the expensive side for the food quality too.

Went there on recommendation and couldn't fault it. Was well worth the 45min drive. Barry (manager) and his team were all very polite and helpful. Loved the carvery (our reason for going) and it was so nice to enjoy properly cooked veg. Many thanks again

We arrived for a family of 14 meal and was welcomed very polite and friendly and shown to our table the staff were very attentive and always smiling the food that wasn't carvery was served quickly concerning you was very busy which was good considering we had a few children with us. The carvery was great with four meats on this week and everyone was happy with the choice. Desserts and coffees afterwards went down well too. We wasn't rushed which is a bonus as most places want to get rid of you to squeeze more in. Overall a very enjoyable meal and the family will be returning again when the next birthday comes round

This place is the place for great quality food, its all 100% its the best food I've come across in years I'm from mk & coming here today has made my day bcos I always dread coming to restaurants bcos foods never right but here is the absolute best omg! This is my place to come now for food. U have to come here to experience it.

The food use to be lovely but the food I have had there on the last few occasions have been been okay at best. Today I tried a carvery and the carrots was hard like a lot of the vegetables was the slection of vegetables was smaller. One of the staff members was rude to me. The price of drinks was very expensive. Will not be returning.
