Poppy Field Farm, Dining & Carvery in Northampton

The food was enjoyable and reasonably priced, me and my brother had the mixed grill and my parents had the carvery. Denise was lovely and she went out of her way to treat my mum on her birthday, fantastic service!

Denise was fabulous, she sorted us a large table as a walk-in group of 9. The food was hot, tasty and came out so quickly, even though the restaurant was packed! Thank you 😊

I came here for lunch with my brother and I am not happy at all with the service and food. We ordered Beer bartered fish and chips with garden peas. We were surprised with the portion size and even the dinner plate was not full size and everything was half size than the previous chain. The whole bar and restaurant was half empty on Saturday the 24 May 2025. We are still hungry and very disappointed. Never to come back as long as this chain is here.

Very busy pub and great atmosphere a great breakfast

First time trying the carvery breakfast. Vegetarian sausages were quickly produced for me and the rest of the food looked fresh and appealing. Emily was extremely helpful and obliging and helped to make the experience enjoyable and one that we look forward to repeating.

Christie and Sophie did a fabulous job always friendly very welcoming. Food is lovely so come here regular. I Try most dishes on the menu but love the deals they have for weekday menu.

Hot drink was cold and bar staff was really rude when we took drinks to bar to be warmed

Had a lovely lunch at the carvery! The kids meals were just right, good portions and great choice for them (they had lunch from kids menu) A couple of small things with the carvery, but nothing that would stop us coming back when we’re craving a roast. Trisha was absolutely lovely. We had great service and she even brought me two jugs of extra gravy 🤣 Soft play could do with a revamp or some more things in it but my little boy still enjoyed it.

We popped in without booking on the off chance of a table on Sunday lunchtime, we were warmly greeted and shown to a table. The staff were all lovely we opted for the carvery which was all cooked perfectly. Absolutely delicious. We Have already booked again.

Amazing value for money at just £7.49 pp. The food was a standard quality, well cooked. The beans tasted oddly delicious, but maybe that's just me? The only reason I took off a star is the breakfast Yorkshire. I was very interested upon reading they were offered for breakfast, but it seems a bit over hyped. If they're sat out for too long they get very tough, as I found out, and it doesn't really go with breakfast items, except maybe sausages. If they offered a pot of gravy to go with it to soften it up I think it'd be better. Good offer on the drinks too, with a sizable glass of juice for an extra £1.50 and unlimited refill of hot drinks, which you serve yourself at the machine.

We use this restaurant on a regular basis and for family occasions so far haven't been disappointed .

We had the carvery and it was delicious and very good value for money. The chocolate fudge cake for desert was absolutely huge!! Our waitress Jade was lovely and efficient. We'll definitely come back!

It's a nice pub for all the family. Staff are helpful and friendly. Under 5s play area which helps whilst waiting for your order. There is also a carvery for both adults and children - better than any Toby that you might have visited.

Good food and service. Went on Easter Sunday with 7 of us. Staff were fantastic and friendly. Just wish you’d do proper roast potatoes

Really lovely welcoming staff here, food was delicious and good value. Amazing, enormous cakes! Surprised how quiet it was on a Saturday though, so knocked off a star for atmosphere.

Extremely rude staff (the old woman with short red hair) and (old bald man) behind the bar. Made us uncomfortable. Given a dirty looks by both of them because my child doesn’t eat anything but toast “the restaurant doesn’t sell just ‘toast’” as they say. Paid for 2 adult buffet’s and obviously gave my 2 year old a slice of my toast for him to eat. Watched like a hawk the whole time we were there just to make sure I wasn’t feeding my child anything from the buffet. Food in general wasn’t the best. Coffee was cold within minutes. Don’t visit unless you want to be judged and watched.

I had a great breakfast buffet with all the trimmings. The establishment was clean and relaxing. Also helped that the sun was out. I will certainly recommend Poppy Field Farm. As a first impression it was very good to say the least.

Lovely food,especially the fish and chips. It's even better now you can have unlimited tea and coffee and soft drinks . Will definitely be visiting again.

Went again saturday 29th march with friends for my birthday . We sat in the family area. The under 5s play area had over 5s and adults in there. The beef was very tough . One lot of green veg. . 4 of my friends who use it on a regular basis will not be going there again .very disappointing

It’s fine, it’s a big chain and focused on getting bums on seats in and out. Bit smelly tired decor, didn’t feel clean Food was less than average. Great portions, no flavour. Servers lovely, happy to support and smiley I won’t be rushing back though, needs a refurb, and a new chef or two

The staff are very helpful and friendly and the breakfast variety was nice and everything was hot.

Breakfast is good. The toasters are useless, it took 5 minutes for toast.

Order a breakfast at 8.45. All cold. Will not return here again.

Good quality food at reasonable prices

Been here multiple times for breakfast, and carvery Sunday lunch. Even had it delivered a few times and can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed. Breakfast is probably 1 of the best fry ups you can get for the money in town. Staff always friendly price is not an issue.

The staff were so lovely and accomodating, we came for a birthday and they showed interest in us and made us feel welcomed. Food is basic pub meals but brilliant portion sizes for the money you pay. Plenty of vegetarian options and even vegan options as well

Turned up with the family to have some lunch.. my wife and daughter are vegetarians.. but everything they tried to order was out of stock.. really bad, had to get up and leave in the end after getting a refund for mine and my aone meals.. staff were polite and even said it wasn't acceptable..we deove all the way from moulton to try poppy fields but what an absolute disappointment... didn't even get an apology from management or anything of that kind.. just had a young waitress say sorry.. to be fair to her it wasn't her fault.. it's clear it's badly run... hiw can you be out of EVERY vegetarian option.. well all 4 of them anyway..

We had an amazing time celebrating my friend's 60th Birthday. The carvery was tasty with a good selection of vegetables. The children's meal went down a treat with my Granddaughter. The staff were very accomodating and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a most enjoyable time. Thank you Poppy Field Farm for the amazing time we had.

Nice place to have breakfast. You have the option of a buffet breakfast, or a small menu with other options like toast, avocado etc. Price is good too and free parking

Upon arrival we were promptly ignored for about 5 minutes with three people at the podium. Had carvery, beef was tough, Yorkshire pudding chewy, mash lumpy, roast potatoes hard in the center and under cooked. When asked how our meal was explained the above points. We're told we could have some cake as recompense, had to ask three times and wait 20 minutes for that!! Not a great experience

Fantastic food! Amazing service! The people is very friendly and really caring. The facilities are good and there is a children's play area. The carvery is amazing with a great selection of vegetables to complement really tender meat.

I'm not sure if me and my partner was unlucky on the day of 28/2/25 as the reviews appeared OK, but we were very disappointed with the carvery that we purchased, we spoke to a couple who frequaint the pub more regularly and they told us it's usually better than this as the beef was under cooked their was no gravy and had to ask and wait 10 mins for replacement, and my partner had to get her meal reheaded as it had gone cold waiting for the grave, so needless to say we decided not to have dessert so one can only assume we must have been very unlucky but will not return.

Ordered mixed grill , came without sausage and onion rings , asked young girl ( waitress ) she just stared at us , eventually moved went into kitchen bought sausages , onion rings never came , asked another member of staff she just replied ' I know nothing ' Customer service leaves a lot to be desired !!!!!

went there too celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed it however the table arrangements for us was not very good as we were a family of four but our table could easily accommodate up to ten people and with everyone looking at us was very uncomfortable and it was the only thing that let poppy field farm down

We went yesterday evening for a carvery, really great food, great value and good customer service. The lady that served us noted it was our birthday and gave us a complimentary coffee. Not been in a while, it was a lovely evening - Thank you!

Always go here, have a meal & drink then on the way out, i get a strawberry daiquiri to go, they usually pop into a slush cup for me for take out. Today the "manager" advised that he cannot do me a strawberry daiquiri to go. I advised ive been doing this for months with no issues and have even been served by another manager also. Staff have even double checked on occasions that it is ok to serve it to go and have been told its ok. Today a different manager said its not ok and refused to serve me. Said hes been the manager for years and the other manager who served me only a few months. Is this based on his own policy or poppy fields policy? As all staff should have the same rule, no? Can't make it up as you go along. He was then happy for me to order a strawberry slush and shot of vodka..he didnt refuse to serve them seperately but begrudgingly served them to me...and he couldn't stop me pouring my vodka into my slush and leaving! So what was the point? Make it make sense. How ridiculous other than it costs £4.99 for a strawberry daiquiri and £6.50 for me to order a vodka shot and a strawberry daquiry seperately. So is it to just make more money? Is it a rule he just made up or are all the several staff that served me prior wrong? Then you now need to look at how flawed the "rule" is because I still walked out with a strawberry daiquiri but it's cost me slightly more and you a negative review... Added: I'm pretty sure the manager who did the above us the one responding to this review 😄 he's pretty much responded saying he made it up as he went along because he is the "manager" and can do so...and that's why not a single question was answered that i asked in my review!

Although it was busy, and we hadn't booked. They managed to find us a table for 2. Great service, good value, lovely food.

Booked a table as hadn’t been in a while. I’m not overly impressed with the food to be honest. In the last 2 years the food has gone down market. Today the mash potato was sloppy like oatmeal, the gravy was too runny there was no consistency to it. The veg was too hard. The cheese cakes that were massive slabs for £4.95 are now 75% smaller and the same price it’s a bit of a joke.

A disappointing breakfast . Cheap catering sausages, the egg had a long black hair in it and the hash brown were soggy . I wouldn't be able to recommend it for breakfast .

Go here every Sunday for a carvery roast dinner, lovely food and the dessrts are off the chart. They do slices of cake that you could use as a car ramp there so big and have so many to choose from my kids fav is the Mars bar cake 😍

Visited your pub for the second time when visiting my parents, we all had Carvery . I'm in a wheelchair but there's plenty of space for me to get around, nice big accessible toilet, level access throughout these premises. Food was great, plenty of choice of vegetables and also other foods available that weren't the Carvery. Massive choice of food and drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, plus tea's and coffee's

I came in to treat my daughter after a hospital appointment she had the curry with onion bajee and I had a burger and chips and to be honest it was horrible the food came cold the chips were cold and not edible the onion bajee were burnt and not edible and the curry was runny and cold the popadoms were burnt tasting so very disappointed I usually have the breakfast and that’s beautiful been here many times but this was by far the worst I have ever had such a shame

I found the beef tough and the vegetables, although plentiful, were not very tasty.

When shown to table, there were no menus, so had to get them from another table. Carvery great as usual, but the takeaway cakes appear to be losing flavour. In Dec the Cookies and Cream cheesecake was bland. The toffee cake yesterday needed more toffee taste.

We prebooked here for Boxing Day, there was 4 us for lunch, the staff were very friendly, we were served by Liz who was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, Our food came out on time and it was very good, we also had takeaways cakes as well and the slices were huge! We would highly recommend this place and we will be visiting again soon, Thank you to all at poppy fields x
