Poppy Cafe & Restaurant in Bromley

Used to be good. Gone downhill. Staff attitude is awful, food quality not as good. My toast bread was moldy. Time to find a new cafe

This place is great! With a wide selection of food, I can never choose what to get because everything is so good! Whenever I leave, I always think about what I will have when I come back next( I can never decide😂) The service is great and the food comes out fresh and hot. I definitely recommend coming here.

Stopped here for breakfast before going out for the day. My husband had the big breakfast (I can't remember the actual name for it on the menu) I had the Mediterranean breakfast, both were delicious. We'll definitely be having them again soon. My rating would have been 5/5 if the young waiter had cracked a smile.

Always clean and efficient service in there.don’t know where the odd couple of bad reviews come from..probably people that were looking to criticise just for the hell of it.. I’m a chef and it’s rare to visit a cafe that still cooks homemade dishes..try the curry or the pasta..both made in-house..

Stopped in a couple of weeks ago on a saturday late morning for breakfast with a friend and my youngest. Immediately upon opening the door we were ordered to " Mask Up". This was demanded despite the table we were going to sit at literally inside the front door. We all complied and put masks on and sat down. Ordered a breakfast off the menu. Although service was friendly after that ,it put a damper on the visit. While we were eating several what seemed to be " regulars" entered without masks and walked ALL THE WAY TO THE FARTHEST TABLE FROM THE FRONT DOOR AND SAT DOWN NOT ONE OF THEM WAS WEARING A MASK, AND NO ONE CONFRONTED THEM ABOUTBIT AS WE WERE AGGRESSIVELY CHALLENGED AT THE front door and FORCED TO COMPLY PRIOR TO BEING ALLOWED A SEAT. To make matters worse, the food was greasy and not at all tasty. Within an hour after eating all three of us had a bad stomach. Cafes as a whole may be put out of business by Covid draconian rules, but this one will poison one two many customers, and go down like that! There are several nice Cafes in Orpington,no need to eat here. Just terrible experience.

Excellent small cafe. Well run by friendly staff. My wife and I have often been here We like Poppy Cafe very much and will certainly go again. A good and full menu. Their Capuchin coffee is just about the best in this town!

Wheelchair accessible , family friendly, great food , good prices, parking is ok however plenty of back streets to park in with minimal walking. I would highly recommend

We went along for a family breakfast & it was great. The service was quick but friendly and the food was excellent. My wife had the Mediterranean breakfast, which comprised of grilled Halloumi, smoked salmon, grilled tomatoes, rocket salad, 2 poached eggs, avocado & toast. Our daughter had Eggs Royale, which was also great.

Great little place to stop for breakfast. Plenty of room and light very relaxing atmosphere. Recommend the bacon sandwich. Quick good service.

Had a business breakfast in here, food good quality, table service so no going up to counter, reasonable prices not the cheapest but worth it, good food no complaints quick service

Went to this cafe with a work Colleague. Fairly over priced considering they only serve ‘cafe’ food. I had an omelette with chips. I ate nothing else for the entire day and about 4 hours after eating here I started experiencing the worst stomach pains ever. Later that night the vomiting started. It’s clear I had food poisoning. I was off work for 3 days and couldn’t eat for 4 days. Five days after eating there I still have stomach pains and Diarrhea..... think you need to check your eggs or teach your kitchen staff some hygiene rules!! Reported to local authority

What a great cafe! Nice and roomy for a highchair and our 3yo, lovely staff, fantastic food and just generally a really nice way to spend lunch as a family.I've been to most of the cafe's in Orpington and Green Street Green and I think this might be my new favourite. No idea what the 'bad' reviewers are talking about! Prices are the same as the other cafe's I have been to!

Burnt bacon and sausages...a child could do better..!! Overpriced and NOT good..use the Crescent cafe just down the road for a far better experience!!

My car was having its MOT at the nearby Bristol St Motors so I thought I’d treat myself to breakfast. Poppy’s is a popular little cafe serving a great breakfast. I enjoyed my eggs, bacon, sausage, hash brown, beans and toast washed down with a cappuccino. The food arrived promptly and was well cooked and not at all greasy. I’d definitely recommend and would visit again the next time my car is in for an early morning service.

Overpriced and think they are something special do not visit... The food is standard café fare BUT they feel that they can charge restaurant prices...joke..!! The other people in here are all wanabees they think their on the continent...joke..!!

Consistently good food, good value, good service. I work locally but would travel to this Cafe try the Mediterranean breakfast. It’s fab!

Have visited Poppy's' a few times before and its really good so deserves a second mention. Think there was a newish member of staff this time so had to ask for a our order to taken; but dealt with promptly by the boss man (Oscar?). I ordered a Poppy special breakfast with 2 eggs, Halloumi, grilled tomato, mushroom which usually comes with hash browns but I swapped those for spicy sausage (garlic beef sausage). So so good! Also ham egg and chips and a chicken and halloumi wrap with chips and salad for my daughter and partner. The chicken was delicious. And when we paid I asked what the difference was between pastirma and sucuk which he was happy to tell me. The sucuk is the garlic beef sausage which is a bit on the spicy side but try it. Lots of other items on the menu, breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers. paninis, main meals, salad and jackets.

I've been coming here most Saturday or Sunday mornings for years. It's close to where I live, but not my most local. However, I come here because it's better than my local cafes in a number of ways. Firstly, it has a clean, relaxed, and comfortable environment. Secondly the quality of the food is excellent - it's not swimming in grease, it's good portions, and they use fresh mushrooms, and decent Cumberland sausages. Thirdly the staff are friendly, and Oscar the owner goes out of his way to help you. Fourthly the prices are really good.

We were a party of 6 adults and a child, The cafe was quite busy but we were seated ok orders took efficiently. I had chicken and lamb kebab with chips, my sisters had lamb kebabs, niece had a wrap. Quite large portions all meals were good and friendly service. No complaints really at all,

This is a cafe just South of Orpington, near to Waitrose at Green Street Green. Inside, it is clean, well decorated and comfortable but a little crowded (although there is additional seating in a conservatory style extension at the front of the cafe). The food is really quite good, tasty and at a good price. I have to drop one star though: Firstly, I waited a long time for a relatively simple order and it was disappointing to see other customers that arrived much later than me being served with their orders well before mine turned up, and secondly the girl serving my table was not very helpful - twice I asked for some ketchup, a simple request which just got a confused look and I never got any. Also, no napkins or cutlery served up with my sandwich. The food was good though.

I come here most weeks for a snack while my daughter is at a class. They're always friendly and the food is good. Nice place to have breakfast or lunch.

I decided to stop have a coffee and a panini as alone didn't know how it be well what can I say pleasant friendly and service food was great i sat outside as I had my dog with mr lovely little outside area clean tidy and they made it very cosy big picture to your left of poppies and nice plants around with what seem wooden flooring they even made a ramp in case of wheelchairs pushchairs food was brought out and a young lad check to see everything was ok with food and if I required anything else I use the toilet which was clean and fresh which sometimes not the cases in cafes I defo will return and try other things on the menu well done for having a nice cafe

I don't usually write reviews but after my experience here, I was compelled to write one. The food here was indeed tasty and well cooked. My sister and I both ordered full english breakfasts. I have nothing to complain about on that part. Unfortunately, this was contradicted by the unfriendliness of the employees. I'm sorry to say but if you're black, don't go there. The moment we entered, we were met with a certain hostility. One of the male employees who greeted us at the entrance gave us a bemused expression, as if, we as black people should't be at their establishment. When the waitress served us our meals, we smiled and said thank you and she didn't even look at us. We observed how the employees interacted with the other (white) customers and they were very amicable with them. Whilst we were eating our meals, we noticed the employees kept glancing at us. We were of the opinion that they thought we wouldn't pay (an assumption they made based on our skin colour). After eating our meals, we paid and left promptly. We will never patronize them again. It's a shame that in this day and age, people still have such prejudiced views.

Poppy's is delicious! Great food, friendly staff and very accommodating. Clean and warm atmosphere. Always love a visit to Poppy's café. :)

Thought we would try somewhere different for brunch today. You can park in Waitrose for 1.5 hours so plenty of time to walk up to Poppies and have a nice meal. My partner had the fully loaded breakfast (Huge!) and very good value at £7.40 including toast. I had a toasted bacon and halloumi sandwich; the halloumi was so good I will just have that next time maybe with tomato. A nice varied menu. Cappucino was very good too and lovely service from a smiley lady who laughed because we thought she was hiding behind the coffee machine. We complimented them on the food and said I had seen reviews but the strange thing is they didn't seem to know they are on TripAdvisor!. Definitely will visit again. Outside seating too for the warmer weather.

We popped in for a late breakfast. Both the standard and veggie options were very tasty and excellent value. They also serve lunches and fuller meals, which also look to be very good value. The staff were helpful and friendly. Altogether, a really good choice!

How can i describe?? The best full English breakfast and amazing Mediterranean breakfast!!! Fantastic!!! Will definitely visit again, it is actually my 2nd time last weekend!!! I wonder what would be the taste for grill... Definitely MUST VISIT!!!!!!

The Classic English breakfast & the Veggie breakfast are very good but you can add extras if you feel the need. The food is not greasy & the veggie breakfast has a rather spicy sausage but nevertheless, delicious. There are 3 other breakfasts on the menu, as well as a 'Light Breakfast' menu plus a Continental Breakfast menu.
