Poppins Restaurant in Eastleigh

Much better than my last visit. A good hearty breakfast with a good selection to chose from. I much prefer to go here than to the wetherspoons on the corner as that just looks very un clean in there and the staff are not as friendly.

I had passed this reastaurant for years when my mother was still living in Chandlers Ford, and I had always been rather put off by the customers who sat, smoking, at the tables outside. On a recent visit to eastleigh, however, I went in for lunch on the basis of "Oh well, it might be OK". It turned out to an extremely pleasant lunch, and actually led us to go to the Poppins in Southampton several days later.

Only fault was the sausage wasn't to my liking. Other than that, no complaints at all. It was quick service and very friendly

My daughter and I stopped in Eastleigh for lunch en route to another destination, I was pleased to see outside seating at Poppins and explained we should eat there as I used to enjoy the pancakes I had when I was a youngster and there was a branch in Guildford. All started well and the waitress was charming and friendly. We ordered a lasagne and cod and chips. Unfortunately the peas that came with mine were a particularly unnatural colour which I associate with hospital food . My daughter was could find very little meat in her lasagne. However, that was not the main problem. Both meals just tasted peculiar. My fish had a very strange chemical taste. The chips were undercooked and anaemiac. My daughter said the bechemal sauce on her lasagne didn’t taste right either. We hate food waste and did our best to eat more but had to give up. We didn’t have time to complain as we were on a schedule so left our food and went elsewhere. Maybe the pancakes are still delicious and we just ordered the wrong items but our meals really did leave a bad taste in our mouths,

A tradional cafe /restaurant serving a massive menu with something to suit everyone .Always great service. I have spent alot of time here and rate it very highly.

Went there for breakfast the menu is very large listing a lot of different meals the only thing I couldn't see on it was waffles the food is average the meal sizes aren't too bad

I came here for a late breakfast. I had the ultimate breakfast which included coffee and toast along with the usual breakfast items. The sausage and bacon were good quality. Service was warm and friendly overall a good experience would happily return.

Me and my boyfriend had ordered two of the set breakfast and because we were on the Keto diet we asked for the has browns mushrooms, tomato and bread to be removed and instead get extra eggs and bacon. When the food came out my plate was pretty empty.. there was 2 slices of bacon and 2 sausages and one in cooked egg I said Oo I thought you were giving us extra bacon and eggs. The waiter said the eggs didn’t cook property and that he will bring them out once their cooked. We had finished eating our breakfast. The waiter come out with two eggs on a plate there were undercooked we didn’t even touch them and left. I felt the price we paid for and what we got was unfair. He didn’t even say sorry he just left he eggs on the table and left. We should have refused to pay for the full breakfast but we did but we were not happy.

Visited late morning and had a cheese and tomato baguette, which was a generous size and very filling. Friendly and polite waitress and fast service.

We have been coming here for other 2 years. The owner is extremely friendly and will adapt the menu to your requirements

We found Poppins online while staying in Eastleigh, and decided to have breakfast. It is welcoming and cheerful inside, with different sections if you prefer sofas over chairs. The menu was extensive, offering what looked like solid, sensible, meals for a variety of tastes. Our choice fell on the "Late Breakfast" - two rashers of bacon, mushrooms, half a tomato and a fried egg on a slice of fried toast - with hash browns and black pudding added as extras. I had a hot chocolate and my boyfriend had cappucino. The food was delivered quickly, and was delicious. Thick rashers of bacon, hash browns crispy without being overdone, eggs just nicely runny, black pudding slices with good texture and flavour. My hot chocolate was excellent, and I was assured the cappucino was just as good!Everything looked to be spotless and well-maintained, and the staff were all pleasant and friendly. I would definitely come back!

I have been here many times. The service is great and the food is as good. I have enjoyed evey minute i have visited this place. They have a great coffee too

They do all day breakfast. Mega breakfast is the best option. Homemade lasagne is very good. Very big menu its...

He comido en este restaurante muchas veces, el personal es amable y la comida es muy deliciosa a pesar de ser un 'Café' en realidad sirve más que un guiso. Hechos a la orden una comida deliciosa, muy impresionado con el nuevo restaurante al lado de la tienda de libra, mucho mejor que el de al lado en la high Street gregs.

Definitely our choice of breakfast or brunch when we are out and about in Eastleigh. I've been several times and think it's a good old fashioned cafe. The food is good, served hot and reasonably priced. Customer service is good too.

Great staff, very friendly and efficient. But the food leaves a lot to be desired. Poppins are a franchise, so all the menus are the same, though some dishes are made on site (eg the lasagne) which varies them from location to location. I have eaten at this venue several times for lunch, and while the lasagne and chips isn't bad, the cod and chips is very poor with peas the colour of green olives, and overdone chips, and the side salad typically consisting of a tired slice of tomato, one of cucumber and a few bits of iceberg lettuce. OMG! Get a life caterers!

My husband and I use this restaurant/cafe on a regular basis. The food is tasty, well priced and service is always with a smile. I like the scampi, mega breakfast and chicken fillets. My husband loves the omelette, burgers and breakfasts. The prices are very reasonable and portion sizes are about right. It's a nice place although some of the soft furnishings are showing some signs of wear. Would recommend!

Out for the day with my partner who is not overly local to here. Both myself and my partner were over the moon with the service we received. I have not been in for a while and they still remembered me, asking how my family was etc. It was generally a lovely thing to have them recognise who I was. Food as usually was fantastic, although they were busy food came out together and nice and hot!!! It was lovely. Thank you xx

This was my first visit to Poppins as from the outside it looks like a small cheap café. I was very surprised by the size of the inside. I opted for the mega brunch it was about the size and quality I'd expect for £7 so I was very happy. The service was extremely fast with someone coming to take my order pretty much as soon as I had decided what I was having. The coffee was a bit weak but turned up very fast as well and the large lunch followed pretty quickly.All in all a good lunch and a place I will be returning to.

Have been a regular customer here for a couple of years. Always found food great and servise second to none.however went in with my daughter this morning no hello off the staffSat at a table for ten minutes no service so moved nearer the counter . Still no staff aproached us or even looked in our direction. After a further 10 minutes we got up and walked out They hadnt even noticed.Shockin . what has happened to poppins if its been taken over then its the worse thing to hapen. I had to check that we wernt wearing invisable coats cos not one staff noticed usWont be returning went to kathey's kitchen just around the corner and got a lovely welcome and a great breakfast for a beter price and fantastic service.COME ON POPPINS WHY HAVE CUSTOMERS SUDDENLY BECOME INVISIBLEPOOR POOR SERVICEWONT RECOMEND ANYMORE OR RETURN

Food came quickly, service was really good. Some improvement needed on the food suppliers they use but for what we paid it was definitely worth it

my grandson loves the burger and chips , also the turkey Dinas ours. I am not a lover of the food as always very greasy and as not many English people serving they can't tell me if chips are gf and cooked separate. so I play safe and have omlette

I go here relatively frequently, normally with my Mum for lunch. The service is always very good, the staff are cheery and make you feel welcome. It is always clean. Often have double egg and chips. It is always very freshly cooked, the chips have not been kept in a serving container and the eggs are always a lovely colour indicating good quality. I like coming here.

The service is fast, it's not too expensive and the members of staff are friendly, but the food quality is average. There is not enough room between tables. There is an area with a TV which normally plays cartoons, but it is not reserved to families, anyone can sit there, which takes the purpose of the room away.

My boyfriend and I often visit Poppins as it is cheap, local and serves up consistently good food. There's nothing fancy to be found - just good value, well cooked basics. Always clean and never had bad service. Visited most recently with my parents for an omelette lunch and all left full and happy. Only downfall is how busy it often gets but that is a testament to the food. Great little place.

You get what you pay for here. Food and drink quality wasn't great but was priced on the cheaper side of things. I wouldn't eat there again but I'm sure there's plenty that would.

Unlike most local Highcliffe area restaurants, this place is always consistent time after time for food, smiles and service!

We intended to go to the local Harvester, but they had just had a delivery and couldn't seat us for at least half an hour and as we were meeting our daughter for lunch we didn't have time to wait. She suggested Poppins so off we went. Good menu, good prices, good service - the whole place is immaculate and the toilets passed my wife's unofficial cleanliness test - if the toilets are clean it normally means the rest of the place is as well. As we had lost time going to the Harvester, we asked how long they were taking to serve and we were told about 10 - 15 mins. Our order was taken at the table and our food was served on time and very good it was too. We'll be back next time we eat it Eastleigh

Was down for the weekend last summer and had a good fry up here with my friend. The Hash browns and sausages are cooked well and theres a selection of fruit teas/infusions. Would have been great with bread and butter option.Café very central and opposite a market. Staff were very friendly and attentive but didnt speak much english perhaps italian/asian. Unfortunately I wasn't able to lock the toilet door properly but overall Poppins has a big dining area offering lots of reading matter, fruit, different coffees and an ice cream bar. Not sure if internet offered here.

One of a chain serving decent basic stuff from an extensive menu. Full meals, snacks and desserts plus drinks. Daily lunch specials such as liver and bacon, pies, fishcakes and fish and chips usually include a drink and are well priced. Extensive breakfasts available - the mega is quite that!Table service, pay when finished at the counter. No fuss. Very popular with seniors and mums with kids. Large eating area comprising tables with chairs and padded benches.Fast service even when busy. Go for the pot of tea - much more for the money than a mug and more hot water readily available on request.Chips or jacket potato available with all meals.

Visited here with family for a catch up and enjoyed the freshly prepared food and lovely coffee. The waiting staff are fantastic and very attentive, quick to take your food order and bring it to your table.

We eat Brunch here every second Saturday. It's clean, well priced, the staff are very friendly, the food is freshly cooked and if you want to tweak the menu that's fine. Always free tables. Mostly frequented by older people looking for value for money and reliability. It's the best breakfast we have found in Eastleigh town.
