Called in on the off chance, staff lovely and helpful, we were on going to have a coffee, however had Eggs Benedict and Poached egg with Avocado, really tasty and presented well. Coffee good, ended up having more coffee and cakes. Really nice place to eat.

Absolutely amazing little place, delicious lunch and such lovely staff. My friend and I had just got to Shanklin and we were hungry, thought Poppins looked nice from the outside and had a couple of outside tables along the side. We ordered an avocado on toast and a bacon and Brie baguette, both were utterly divine, we also had baclava, which was also scrummy! Thank you for making our first visit to the Island start with a massive positive!

Lovely Lavazza coffee, served by friendly staff. And a delicious baklava too. What a delight. We sat up on the higher level. The outside seating area is down the side of the street and the toilet is out the back. Very clean. We only ran in to get out of the rain, but it was such a lovely experience and cheered up a dull day. The meals people were ordering looked tasty and the service was brisk and efficient.

This is a lovely café, clean and tidy and very popular with locals. We just popped in for morning coffee which was excellent. It was a busy morning and the one member of staff was doing everything but was efficient and friendly. Be warned, they don't take any cards for payment so you have to pay by cash. Amazing! Even market traders have contactless these days, but then the Island has a reputation for stepping back in time.

Coffee was nice, but the two ladies serving couldn’t crack a smile and they just looked miserable. A smile doesn’t cost anything, and they don’t take cards , you get told “a cash point is over there” , which is over the road and doesn’t always work.

We came here for a lovely breakfast and a brunch and could not fault the food and the reasonable prices too. They do hot and cold food and a good choice of hot and cold drinks. The only fault is that the toilets are around the back, so they have to give you a key to go outside, round the back to use it, but it was not a problem. Very friendly.

After a wonderful welcome and cuppa on my previous visit I returned with my cousin. Literally got off the ferry and after a 4am start I was starving. A cuppa and a sausage/bacon sandwich would hit the spot. Well it didn't - the bacon was hard and I kid you not the sausage was burnt. Left most of it and I had to get to an appointment I could't be bothered to complain. Not surprised as this was a microwaved offering. My advice try somewhere else for an edible breakfast

A really lovely café in Shanklin. The staff were so friendly and helpful and so polite. They greeted everyone that came in and said goodbye when they left. It's a little thing but really makes a good impression. We were made to feel very welcome. The food was a big hit with us. The 8 year old in our party had scrambled eggs and bread and butter which he loved. Everything was freshly cooked and the service was very quick. Prices were pretty reasonable for the quality of the food. We've been here twice now and would recommend this to others. I can't wait to come back again.

We popped in one afternoon for some lunch and a coffee. It was lovely!!! Lovely food, generous fillings and great coffee and hot chocolate. The lady was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We decided to stop in again another day as we had enjoyed it so much the first time.... What a difference!!! It was different staff, not very welcoming and seemed like they couldn't be bothered, the coffee was awful and the hot chocolate tasted like the cheapest you could get! (The first one tasted like expensive posh chocolate). Shame really. So if you go in in the day the other lady was working (blonde) you'll be in for a treat!!!

Eaten here last week as we were shopping around and food was decent. Wanted to order two omelettes and I asked if they could put some mushrooms in one of them, but was told sorry they come done! So that was pre-prepared omelettes just microwaved. It tasted fine but is breaking couple of eggs and making an omelette a big deal? I am sure those two lovely ladies who run that place can do wonders in that prime location.

My partner and I popped in to 'Poppins' for a cup of coffee after a leisurely stroll around the town. After discovering that they did not offer a dairy free milk alternative, we ordered two 'large' black coffees for an astonishing total of £4.10. Perhaps the price wouldn't have been such an issue had the coffee tasted nice. In all honesty instant coffee would have tasted far better! After managing only to drink half of our coffees, we headed out of the gloomy drab interior and back home.

We called in for a quick coffee and were shocked at how the coffee was served. My husband had an americano which did not actually taste of coffee and I had a latte which was served in a tea cup. The milk was too hot and the cup not big enough for the amount of espresso coffee used so the latte was far too strong. It seemed as if it was a struggle for the lady to actually serve us but other customers who came in while we were there were greeted and made to feel extremely welcome. These customers were obviously local and got preferential treatment - something which happens on the Island far too often. The service was non-existant and the coffee very poor. We will definitely not return

The lady behind the counter was polite, friendly and the food was served promptly. A refreshingly diverse range of panini/sandwich fillers. A shame the customers aren't as courteous as the staff, one rude customer reached over everyone's food on our table to take our menus. I suggested she should get the menus from the front like everyone else. southern manners.

This cafe has the advantage of being one of the only places to stop for a bite to eat and drink in Regent Street. Hence we popped in to Poppins for lunch. We weren't greeted as we walked it. After choosing baguettes and paninis we went to counter to order. No baguettes available as the oven was full of cakes? Bizarre at lunchtime. We all ordered paninis. What arrived were baguettes toasted in a panini toaster!!! No salad garnish, anemic looking things really. Mild bland cheese used. Very disappointing. For the price this was extremely bad value for money. The coffee was okay. The bottled water (co op branded) cost £1!!! Also the diet coke was a multi pack can, not for individual sale?! It appears that this cafe is scrimping and doing things on the cheap with extreme mark ups? The cakes looked okay but we didn't want to spend anymore money. Very disappointing. Staff not particularly friendly and what's the deal these days with not even being greeted when you enter an establishment?! We won't return.

One of the best pub Sunday lunches we've had in several years. The meat was succulent - and if you can't choose beef or port you can have half and half. The potatoes were crunchily roasted with soft interior. The Yorkshire puddings seemed a step above most pub versions being neither greasy nor, like so many places, perfect roundels straight from a freezer. There wasn't much green veg but the kale - normally not something I like - was salty and well prepared. Great with the beautifully prepared red cabbage. Big shared portion of cauliflower cheese included too, and - on request - extra gravy and really tangy horseradish. Frankly not much to criticise here and the desserts were brilliant too. We had heard someone say that the change of ownership a week or so back had caused a drop in standards but it's hard to believe that it was ever much better than this. Highly recommended.
