the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.

My friends and I went there a few weeks ago and we had an extremely unpleasant experience. While taking our time to decide what to order at the table the manager rudely came up to us and instructed us that we had to order. Also the majority of us all ordered food and we were told rudely by two other staff that everyone had to order and they made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome to the point we had to leave our table and sit in the rain. We were extremely surprised as we were sharing some bits of food.Do not recommend at all.

Delicious cake, friendly staff and very pleasant garden and indoor area. The downside is that the coffee is filter only, and weak. Would be ideal to have an expresso machine for coffee lovers.

As always the visit was lovely. Served with a smile, and the Frangipane Cake was available, which is delicious, and gluten free. Tea and coffee were good, although if you want a cappuccino they don’t have those, only filter coffee. Lovely garden to sit in.

Possibly the best carrot cake in the world. But more important was the genuine warm welcome and friendly conversation with the owners. This is a small island with day trippers and only a few places to stay or eat. If you are on St. Martin’s the tearoom is a wonderful place to pop into; freshly baked food and reasonably priced.

An absolute delight. We were made extremely welcome by the owner (who actually had a smile and a sense of humour, which was much appreciated) and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon tea. The cream tea was delicious and good value. I am very fussy about drinking tea as so many times it is not well made, but this was just fine. The scones were very good and the local cream was thick and delicious. Highly recommended!

Having a wheat-intolerant wife the prospect of a gluten-free focaccia was too good to miss. It proved to be outstandingly good, as was my own olive bread with hummus. While the cakes were awesome, this business served UHT milk with coffee and didn't mention it. Now, I appreciate that a short season, Covid, and getting goods onto an island conspire to make prices seem high. This means that one's expectations are fairly high for the price being charged, but to serve UHT milk is simply appalling if they don't bring it to your attention. What I find astonishing is that they even stocked it which suggests that they had run out of fresh milk. There are two explanations for this. 1. They don't think it matters (very poor judgment by the owner), or 2. They don't think people will notice (which tells you what they think about the customers). As I was with company, I didn't want to make a fuss and sour the atmosphere, but I suggest if they pull this stunt on you, then you should complain (pull this review up on your phone and show it to them). Don't get me wrong, they have a great garden and the cakes were superb, but no tea shop should be even stocking UHT milk, never mind serving it. If you run out of milk, then stop serving coffee & tea and explain that the kettle is broken - don't try to fool your customers.

Unfortunately they've stopped offering their homemade baguettes at lunchtime, instead replacing them with a seeded bread (very doughy) which fell apart if you tried to cut it to make a sandwich. The presentation was poor and there was a complete absence of any side salad (at £8-50 per plate I would have expected some). All in all, well over priced and very average quality. A big come down from last year's excellent offering.

Booked a two day getaway for R & R through Booking.com. Stayed Saturday and Sunday nights on B&B basis. (1st & 2nd March) We checked in around 3pm and were taken to the room by friendly staff member. The room was introduced as a "Cabin" style room. At first we thought that it was quite small and very little room to move. Facilities were excellent and very clean and modern. Especially the bathroom. Again small but useable. Bedroom space was very different, tiny area, hanging space was at a premium. 3 shirts and the space was full. The bed was enclosed in a tight corner with only one access side, so exiting was difficult to say the least. I enquired about a bigger room and the extra cost to do so. I was informed that if someone did not show up I would be informed and the room would be offered. That unfortunately did not happen. I explained that my wife had limited mobility and found it difficult to enter and exit tight spaces but it appeared to fall on deaf ears. A follow up to say sorry no rooms were available might have helped us decide not to stay the second night. I think maybe it would have been better to book direct with the Hotel and the possibility of discussing room size etc. I thought for the money we paid Booking.com the room would have been more standard size. I get Genius discount with Booking.com so my assumption was completely wrong. We likened the room more to "Rabbit Hutch" more than "Cabin" For the price we paid I would consider the room expensive and more to be used as single occupancy rather than double. All other aspects of our stay were lovely, the staff, the public area's, food and drinks were all very good. The only other worry I have is parking ticket arriving at a later date. I asked at the time of check in if it was in order to park just up the road in the general Car Park and was told to give my Reg number to reception and that would be ok. On leaving the Car Park I noticed the "Have you paid an displayed" sign. We gave our details to a young lady service at the bar and she said she would enter it at reception on our room number (4). I checked later after returning from a walk and found it had not been and was done then but informed there would be a problem because the Car Park was not monitored. I hope that statement was correct!

Latte was only just warm and very weak, could not taste any coffee at all. Disappointing. I have been before and had the same experience.
