I was apprehensive to visit reading the review before but I honestly am unsure why, the experience was excellent from start to finish. The staff made us feel welcome instantly with great service, excellent food served quickly and a delicious range of cakes we took some to takeaway and can’t recommend enough. The shop was also very clean, great hidden gem, will definitely be back soon when in the area.

Tried this cafe opposite Burns Cottage. On entering the premises i was concerned that under the current Covid 19 restrictions none of the staff were wearing face coverings,I was not asked for track & trace information, and was asked to take a seat at at table that had not been wiped / sanitized when i pointed out the table had not been cleaned, the staff member gave it a quick spray , but did not wipes the seats and the table was not dried properly, the Lentil soup was nice served with brown bread. Staff need to brush up on Covid 19 requirements.

Visited for a lunchtime snack and hot drinks after visiting Burns Cottage directly opposite the cafe. I had a veggie omelette and my husband had a bacon roll – both very tasty. The young lady serving could not have been nicer, when she saw I was taking photographs she offered to take a picture of me and himself together. The decor is fresh, bright and clean with nice little quirky Scottish details on the walls. Although we didn’t have any, the cakes in the cabinet looked delightful. I was very glad we went there.

Visited with a colleague, had a hot chocolate and a Crunchie tray bake each. Hot choc was poor - made from powder from a jar. Hot and wet which was about all that could be said for it. Drank it through necessity! Traybake was awful, like being back in the 1970’s covered in thick cooking chocolate, awful! They need to hire a decent baker or if it’s bought in choose a new supplier. Only two other people in, no atmosphere and cake display was awful - poorly presented in a small glass cabinet. Wouldn’t rush back. Service was quick and friendly which was the big plus. £9.10 for two hot chocs and two traybakes.

Lovely little restaurant. I went with my daughter for a cuppa and gluten free cake after hearing it did gluten free cakes. I had a delicious gluten free mint slice and was spoiled for choice (something I don’t get very often). I was given a choice of home baked gluten free cakes and they all looked delicious. They also do lunches and have gluten free bread. I will most definitely return to try out the gluten free breakfast. I popped in to ask if any chance toasties or sandwiches still available. At first waitress said sorry no, but cakes still available. That was fine by us but when i returned to place order, she said the lady in kitchen more than happy to make sandwiches for us. That was sooooo appreciated (and we know many places that wouldn't!). Enjoyed our choices, really fresh tasty sandwiches, with nice salad accompaniment. Cakes looked delish and if we return to Ayr in the Winter we will be back (inside without the dog this time as cafe looked lovely & cosy).
