Never had a bad takeaway from Po Lee and must have had dozens over the years, always piping hot and fresh. The salt and pepper chicken is a favourite.

I do not write reviews usually as tastes from one restaurant to another differ but on this occasion I felt I had to. The ribs in sauce had an underline aniseed taste which was odd to say the least. The Singapore noodles just tasted of curry powder which I have never eaten like that and was insipid and the chilli beef was sweet to taste and no chilli. I have had a takeaway from there some time ago but never been so disappointed as I was tonight.

Overall bad food, overpriced and not eatable… just water and oils…. this is not a black bean sauce…. Regrettable as disappointing my dinner plans…if this worthy £15.70 and they tried to cheat on the change as well with £1…. Definitely Avoid them!!!

So I have been a regular with this Chinese on and off for the last 4 years . Tonight I orders a take away with no hesitation spent a modest £40 . The Kung po chicken tasted like it was made with tobasco sauce and was watery. My son never ate his . The duck chow was like the duck had been reheated several times in the microwave. And the sea weed Was horrible really black looking and almost started a fight withy taste buds .!! It was ruff!! No complaints about the chicken chow or the prawn crackers or prawn toast all good but all in all it was a mind changer for me ever ordering from here again .PO LEE sort it out please shocking experience!!

I only eat food here every couple of years, but have always had food of a good standard. Today, not so. Ordered a meal for one, comprising beef chop suey, sweet and sour pork, fried rice and prawn crackers, all for £10.50. The prawn crackers were fine; the rice was average. Although the chop suey smelt as expected, it had a weird and unpleasant taste. The pork balls were large cubes of dense meat surrounded by a bland batter with a soggy glutinous interior. Very disappointed: most of it went in the bin. I won't be going back - not even in 2 years' time.

After a not so great meal I decided to try again. A long day at work and didn’t want to go. The curry (chicken) was lovely , great flavours but unfortunately there was over cooked bits of egg again. And this time the chips tasted awful , like they had tried out and there was a few bits of cold chicken. What’s happened !!

I have been visiting this Chinese for many years and this is my third review. I sometimes get good food and sometimes not so good but I thought I would give it another try. I had chicken curry and egg fried rice, I only ate half ! The whole thing tastes bland and not like it used to be. It used to be my favourite dish from here. It also had hard over cooked bits that I’m guessing was egg. I don’t think I will be ordering again and if I do then it will be just chips , surly they can’t go wrong with chips

Overpriced. Disgusting. Pancakes microwaved in cellophane bags. Sweet and sour pork appeared to be missing the pork. Sweet and sour batter would have been more appropriate. When they said crispy duck it would have been nice of them to have left some moisture in it. Beef was ok. Egg fried rice scored better than the pork with two pieces of egg in it. they julienned the cucumber quite well, but I don't think worth the £35 bill. Don't bother wasting your daily calorie intake here.

Unfortunately because their not in the 21st century a walk to the cash machine is needed after ordering you food, thats not if you haven't collapsed already with the price of the food, for a 20 pound meal anywhere else, here this will cost you an extra 10 tenner! By the time we got our food home some of dishes were incorrect, God know what they had give us, I am guess they only serve starter size containers (all small portions) very average indeed and a trip further afield will be the next call! If you like garlic you will be right at home, everything is over powered in the stuff!

We order almost weekly and the food is always fantastic. Fresh and non oily, and flavoursome. Portions are generous and we normally share two dishes, with some rice and are full to the brim when we are done. Staff are always polite, food is quick and piping hot and the prawn crackers normally disappear in the car already.

My wife and I have not ordered Chinese Take Away in and around Fleet for many years as have lost faith in the quality and consistency. One of those days.....seemed to take forever to do everything and get home. Decided too tired to cook (a first world problem I know) as it had been a traumatic day. Takeaway for two. Crispy chilli beef and Kung po chicken. Beef would have again, chicken was very very different to other versions of Kung pro I have had, and not to my taste really. That said, felt satisfied after and will revisit to try more. Set menus look a bit unexciting though......

I decided to come here after nipping into Hartley Wintney for a spell as I didn't have time for a sit-in meal. Chinese cuisine is one of my favourites, so I decided to give this takeaway a try. I definitely didn't have a good experience here as I tried a number of things, but everything seemed to be unexpectedly chewy. The sauce in my main dish tasted great, albeit not how it was supposed to taste. Sadly nothing else here was any good and I most certainly wouldn't think about coming back. Orders can be placed over the phone for collection here, but they only accept payment in cash. The menu is perhaps slightly larger in size for a Chinese takeaway, with around 150 items, including extras, starters and sweets listed on the menu. This place is purely a Chinese takeaway instead of combining itself with a fish and chip shop as many do. They do seem to have a greater variety of English dishes available on the menu here though as, aside from the usual omelettes, sausage with chips, roast chicken with chips and chicken nuggets with chips are all listed as menu items. Chicken balls and prawn balls are listed in unusual places on the menu, coming under 'Sweet and sour dishes', but everything else is where it should be. They serve a wide range of house specials here, but the menu is pretty typical for a Chinese takeaway, with no seemingly uncommon items to be found. After debating for some time, I decided to go for the mixed appetiser, satay chicken vermicelli, chips, prawn crackers and pineapple fritter. The mixed appetiser came with four mini spring rolls, four pieces of prawn toast and some crispy seaweed. The mini spring rolls seemed to have varied fillings inside, but unfortunately the pastry was really thick, which caused it to overpower the contents, preventing them from being tasted. Shockingly the pastry was really soft and chewy, with not even the slightest hint of crispness. The prawn toast had a surprisingly strong prawn taste, with the prawn layer being thicker than average, which was really good as often there is far too little in relation to the bread and sesame seeds. The prawns also tasted really good, but these suffered from the same problem as the spring rolls, with the bread being soft and chewy and not crisp at all like one would expect from a piece of fried toast. The crispy seaweed was most definitely the most disappointing part of the mixed appetiser. I really like the salty and sugary taste that crispy seaweed usually offers, but here they had used barely any salt or sugar during the preparation, which meant that the only flavour came from the cabbage itself. I expected much better from a Chinese takeaway. The sauce in the satay chicken vermicelli did not taste like I expected it to at all. I've had satay sauce many times before, so I know what to expect. However, this was very unexpected. I thought that perhaps they had served me the wrong dish, but the only other dishes with vermicelli noodles are Singapore vermicelli and chicken vermicelli with green pepper and black bean sauce, which this dish most certainly not. Perhaps they make their satay sauce differently here, but what I received only had a very subtle peanut taste, with the other flavours being a mix of vegetables along with some spices. This sauce actually tasted really nice, with the mix of different flavours going really well together, while the sauce had a strong taste to it. It also combined well with the chicken, noodles and vegetables in the dish. The chicken was disappointing as this was the usual low budget rubbery kind that seems to be widespread across a number of Asian restaurants in the UK. The pieces of pepper were cut long but thin, while the noodles were nice and soft, without being too soft at all.The chips were really bad here. I suppose you don't go to a Chinese for chips, but they still should have been better than they were here. There was a visible gap between the exterior of the chip and the interior, with the insides being chewy and not the least bit fluffy at all. A few of them were slightly crispy on the outside, but these were few and far between, with most of them being just as chewy on the outside as they were on the inside. The prawn crackers were no better and these were undoubtedly the worst prawn crackers that I have ever had anywhere. Not a single one in the bag had any crispness to it at all, with each and every one being soft and chewy, which is absolutely terrible for prawn crackers. The pineapple fritters were the usual ring kind, rather than slices like you occasionally find. The syrup is provided in a separate pot here, rather than being pre-poured over the fritters. This was definitely a good thing as it allowed you to be in control of how much syrup there was on each fritter. There was plenty of it as well, so there was the option to have an excessive amount of it if you chose to do so. The batter suffered from the same problem as most of the food here, with this being overly chewy. It was also much thicker than usual, which made the pineapple quite difficult to taste. Fortunately the batter was fairly sweet, so it tasted quite pleasant and it also meant that less syrup was needed. Often the pineapple inside fritters loses a lot of its flavour. While a lot of the flavour was missing here, a fair amount still remained, which was much better than I expected coming from a takeaway. The service here was pretty standard for a takeaway. You simply place your order at the counter and then wait for the food. I wasn't provided with a waiting time though, which is quite unusual for a takeaway. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive in total, which is quite long for such a place, but if that means that the food is cooked to order, then that is undoubtedly a good thing. There's no till here, with the prices for small orders being calculated by the staff member's head, while large orders were calculated on a calculator. They don't accept card payments here, so you will have to pay for your order in cash. A couple of customers were unaware of this while I was inside, but it would appear that a cashpoint is not too far away down the high street as they weren't gone for all that long. Unlike most Chinese takeaways, orders can be made over the phone. They don't deliver though, so you have to come in to collect it.The menu prices here seem fairly standard for a Chinese takeaway, with most dishes being priced around £5-6. Chips only come in one size, but they are priced at a reasonable £1.40 here. I feel that there is pretty good value for money to be found at this takeaway though as the portion size for both my mixed appetiser and my satay chicken vermicelli were much larger than I anticipated, with both coming in the larger sized takeaway containers. Some main courses have 'large' written next to them on the menu, so I dread to think how large these might be. You definitely seem to get more for your money here than you would at most other places. With this being a takeaway rather than a restaurant, there isn't much to look at inside. A large version of the menu takes up most of the space on one wall, while there are also a couple of Chinese calendars and various decorations by the counter. The most notable decoration in here would be of some artwork featuring a couple of peacocks, which is located behind the counter. There is a lot of floorspace between the entrance and the counter, allowing space for plenty of customers to stand waiting for their orders. There are also a few seats available if you would rather sit and wait.

I have been using the Po Lee takeaway for 20 years now but I have to say that since new owners have taken over, the standard of food has really fallen badly in my opinion. For example, spare ribs purchased here are very spare indeed, in fact they are mainly bone and gristle. I make this judgement based on several orders made over the past 6 months. The prices are also much more than another takeaway that I now use instead and the portions are also smaller than where I go now. For the cost of special fried rice and bbq spare ribs at the Po Lee, I can get the same order, but bigger and also sweet & sour chicken for the same price, added to this, it is far better quality and far more enjoyable. I am afraid that after 20 years of giving them my custom, I will not be using Po Lee again.

A traditional Chinese. We had a set meal which was very good. Crispy duck excellent, sesame prawn very good. The lemon chicken however was over sweet for our palate. It’s rather old fashioned and could benefit from a refresh. However it’s good food and friendly service and it’s good value.

Terrible. 2 1/2 hours to be delivered. They did rung 2 hours after we ordered it and was told it would be another 1/2 hour. Delivery driver was really nice and very apologetic. The food was hot but was awful. My husband liked his chicken curry but my sweet & Sour was not nice at all. Will never order from them again.
