A traditional Chinese. We had a set meal which was very good. Crispy duck excellent, sesame prawn very good. The lemon chicken however was over sweet for our palate. It’s rather old fashioned and could benefit from a refresh. However it’s good food and friendly service and it’s good value.

Had a special set menu as we were a party of 12. Very good range of dishes. Very tasty and plenty of food. Good service and everyone enjoyed their meal. Contactless card payments.

My family and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Kings Restaurant in Odiham. The food was incredibly fresh and exceptionally tasty. We had sizzling king prawns, sizzling fillet of beef, chicken and cashew nuts with chicken satay to start . I can’t fault either the food or the staff, who were very attentive. However, as a dining experience it was such a shame that the beautiful listed building wasn’t matched by the decor inside, which is in dire need of updating and refreshing. In addition, and quite bizarrely, in place of crisp white linen tablecloths there are brown table protectors on top of the tablecloths, which make it look very plastic and cheap. Although these table protectors look quite new, they will become a trap for food in due course, which is of concern. As the food is outstanding, I would consider dining there again but would bring my own tablecloth. The food isn’t cheap but sadly the interior makes it look that way. In years gone past, it was a fine dining restaurant- with a little investment it could be again. It does currently seem to be very busy on takeaways

We visit regularly and the staff are very helpful and accommodating and the food is great. Always a popular choice from our children too and is requested for special occasions.

Been eating here for over 20 years but things have gone downhill. Pricey and food not that good. Here is a photo of 2 spring rolls purchased this week. Only 1 prawn (in pic, if you can find it) and no meat, however PLENTY of carrot. Ripped off.

We went there with our grandchildren and let them choose what to eat. We thought we had probably ordered too much but at the end of the meal there were lots of empty plates and two happy little girls

With all our family staying with us over Xmas we thought we would have a Chinese takeaway on one night and Kings is our first choice. The meal was delivered on time and everyone said it was delicious, including several who said it was one of the best Chinese meals they have ever had. Brilliant

Evening home delivery. Prompt delivery, Been a customer for years and always a good in house experience. Quality of delivered food not as good as previous, although difficult to quantify. Still look forward to visiting the restaurant again.

We had my dad staying with us and my brother came down from Newcastle, so a great opportunity to go out for a family meal Most places were fully booked, it was the first weekend inside dining was allowed again, so that made sense However, we were fortunate enough to get a table here Immediate disappointment for us, when the staff informed us the menu was catered to the Western palate - but not surprising and almost all regional Chinese restaurants are Unless it’s located in a large urban site like London, Birmingham etc, you’ll rarely find authentic Chinese food (guess that’s the same for any non British cuisine really) However, they were kind enough to produce a non listed dish, that my dad requested and we decided to try the standard traditional western options like crispy shredded beef and sweet and sour pork All were good, especially the non listed dish - we ended up ordering another portion of that one The only criticism I have is that the Szechuan dishes were not spicy at all - again, we just assumed the local Odiham residents probably couldn’t handle the heat and so the restaurant had to dumb it down All in all, we had a great time

Approached this meal unsure what to expect, but fancied Chinese for a change. Really pleasantly surprised, and ordering was really easy online. We had the crispy duck, king prawns with ginger, sweet and sour chicken and prawns (to make sure we got some ourselves with 2 hungry boys!) and the beef in black bean. All very tasty and we are quite fussy. We ordered the mixed starter too, and probably wouldn’t order that again as a bit too greasy and beige for our taste. Took almost 90 minutes to be ready even though we ordered at 6:30, and no way to tell how long it will take to be ready before submitting the order. So would recommend putting your order in early and specifying when you want it rather than waiting and expecting it in 20-30 minutes.

This was possibly the worst Chinese I have ever had. Took 1 bite of the chicken and had to throw the whole meal away. It was rubbery and disgusting and totally inedible! I fully expected this to be restaurant standard as it isn't cheap but nope! We have just moved to Odiham but will never be eating here again! Feel robbed and hungry!

Busy Saturday and an hour and a half forecast wait. Not a problem. Arrived more or less on time. Tasty food and no problems with portions. Well packaged and added bonus of re- usable plastic containers. Prices may be a little high, but matched by quality. Never had a poor deal from here and have been going for years.

I have been a loyal customer to this particular Chinese for almost a year I ordered my food at 1800 after calling them at 2114 i was told that they are really sorry and that i cannot have my order after they accepted the order at 1815. We have waited almost 3 hours for this food and now its too late to order anything else. Thanks for a terrible end to a terrible year. I guess they earned enough money tonight to not care about their loyal customers.

The food and service is second to none. The price is fair and the staff are lovely. We usually order have the food delivered and its always delivered in a timely manner with a smile. Thank you

This used to be the best Chinese restaurant for many miles, not so anymore.Prices hiked ridiculously high, portion sizes almost halved and they weren't enormous to start with, and, the worst of all, the quality of the ingredients has been reduced. Food is still reasonably tasty but not a patch on how it used to be and certainly not worth the price, although I've raised what was going to be a two star rating to a three simply because of their tofu dishes, many Chinese restaurants simply do not cater for vegetarians so they do score a win there.

The food is always fresh, tasty and hot when delivered. The choice is extensive - it arrives looking appetising and tastes amazing. It really is excellent quality. It’s not inexpensive - even with a 20% discount for takeaway £80 but worth it.

Am glad that they are still catering for takeaway and delivery at this extremely challenging time. Went for my takeaway last evening and it was lovely and fresh as usual. Will be supporting them locals even more during this unprecedented time.

After a wait of 2 hours for a home delivery, we decided to chase the order, the gentleman who answered the phone swore blind we had not place any order for delivery even though my card payment over phone said differently, we were given a refund and asked if we wanted to re order, shocking! Never will I use this place again, totally unreliable and unprofessional.Avoid like the plague!!

One word... absolutely disgusting.. Food terrible, Think they are recycling the food ..The rice gritty and hard ..got the impression this place was just about surviving .. Over half the tatty restaurant in the dark with front of the restaurant heated by a cheap plug in heater..And expensive £56 for spring rolls the size of you little finger with a strand of veg inside .. seaweed...duck roll pancakes.. sizzling beef..and rice..glass wine .. small beer.. Truly horrible.. do not go there!

Had a fixed price meal for a large group. Several courses with interesting flavours. Good value including drinks. Good service.

Went there with friends on Saturday and they were absolutely packed. Very good sign. Staffs were attentive and friendly. Food were delicious and you know that they’re freshly cooked. Never had any problem eating there. Fully recommended

A year ago i wrote a positive review of King's. Unfortunately we decided for a return visit with hopes of a repeat experience. That was not to be. The restaurant was virtually empty and the food we were served was appalling. The rice must have been collected from left overs and packed in a small bowl, almost set and very stiff. We left it. The rest of the meal was just as bad. Tasteless and obviously reheated in a half hearted attempt to disguise the fact. It really is a shame as our French friends, when visiting, always used to ask if we could take them to "That good Chinese". That will not be happening again! Very sad to have to say this after so long and so many visits in the past.

Visited with my family for my son’s birthday. Really enjoyable dinner. Salt & pepper squid, prawn balls & the crab claws were a great choice for appetisers along with a few others, the crispy duck followed and was quickly polished off. I was stuffed by then but the others ordered a prawn and a beef dish, which was a little excessive but too good to leave! Can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a Chinese meal this much.

The quirky feel of the Chinese decor within a traditional English property is great fun. The food and service is consistently good, we have been coming to this restaurant over the last 15 years.

Visited a few weeks ago with some family. Really lovely food we all enjoyed. Especially loved the tom yum chicken!Only bad point there was no music playing in the restaurant which had a few tables occupied. It was so quiet we were whispering to each other!

We booked in advance but were advised the day before that we could only order from the set menu because of the size of our party. Not really a problem as the set menu options are very good. Good food, good service. We turned off some fairy lights around the mirror as the colour change was giving me a headache.

Ordered a takeaway Chinese here in May 2019 , had heard it wasn't the best but wanted to try it as live in Odiham. It was mediocre at best. Will not order again and take the drive to Hartley Wintney which is better for takeaway Chinese.

Third visit this year. Wide range of dishes and starters to be shared are good value. Lunchtime never seems to have the same atmosphere as evening, only one other table occupied . Service and food up to usual standard. Very clean establishment with spotless white table cloths and serviettes.

Very tasty dinner with polite service. Crispy duck was excellent. It flew off the plate. Chicken in black bean was also particularly tasty. Restaurant wasn't too busy, but lots of people getting takeaways.

Last came here in March. Very good then and even better this time. Very friendly efficient service and wide range of dishes. Sizzling dishes excellent. Also good range of starters and particularly good hot and sour soup. Adequate wine list. A bit pushy with the wine, but we had a good evening!

There was no atmosphere, no music but you could over hear the TV playing at the bar. Including our table there were 5 tables being used. For some reason we were all put into one corner of the restaurant despite it being quite a large venue.My wife and I didn't go for the set/ eat as much as you can menu as we chose to go for the better variety. Everything we ordered was bland and we were charged 60p for any sauces! Which came as a small saucers worth. Never seen that before. The carrots were not cooked enough and the meat didn't seem of the highest quality. When ordering the pancakes we were served 2 each, presumably there is an extra charge for more. The staff were polite and the food did come quite quickly and was served very hot. Considering we only drunk green tea with our meal it totalled £63, which I would have been more than happy to accept had the food been tasty and more varied. A shame as it's in a lovely old building in a nice area. I can see why there were only 5 tables booked on a bank holiday! If you know your asian food, you may want to give it a miss.

Back again with friends for our monthly meeting, we always opt for Kings as the food and service are top notch. Staffs are always friendly and very attentive and the foods are fresh and flavoursome.

This used to be a very good restaurant but something has gone pear shaped! Hugh Hampshire has said it all, won't be coming back until things improve.

This used to be a quality Chinese restaurant. However, in recent months, and in particular last week, the food has been sub-standard. The chicken we were served had an unreal, stringy texture, and tasted of nothing. When I questioned the waitress, she said, "Thats how it comes". The service has also declined, with a surly, unhelpful attitude common amongst the staff.

Restaurant has comfortable decor and tables nicely arranged. Also does takeaway. Wide quality menu including sizzling dishes. Also good wine list. Probably the best Chinese restaurant in the area. Excellent friendly service and very tasty dishes. Hot and sour soup excellent and starter dishes well worth having.

End of term dinner and 15 of us visited Kings. Fixed price menu agreed in advance, we paid £25 per head including drinks and tip.

Came across this gem as we passed through this little village, went in for dinner and it was heaving with diners which is a good sign.

Completely lacking flavour and the texture of both the chicken and duck was all wrong- will not return

Wide menu with range of starters and sizzling dishes. Order taken promptly and an expected Saturday night wait was delivered as promised. Good sized portions of excellent quality and a bonus of some reusable containers. A good way above average.

This restaurant is always good. The banquet is good value as you can choose a number of dishes inc starters and a crispy duck course. My only small criticism is no food warmers so it does go tepid.

Three of us ate here last night after a very long gap of about 5 years! The food was absolutely delicious, the service excellent and the whole evening was very enjoyable. We had a variety of dishes including the 2 varieties of spare ribs which I loved, plus chicken and prawn with special friend rice. I confess that it was a much improved meal from the last one we had years ago. On last night's experience we would definitely return.

Just had a very soggy takeaway, the crispy chilli beef was very chewy! The lady behind the counter then gave us Chop Sticks and charged us 60p for them and then said "make sure you wash them first as they have already been used"

Have tried King's food twice since we moved here from Surrey (where we had an excellent Chinese restaurant so we know good Chinese food) and both times it has been appalling. On the second occasion this evening, the noodles with beansprouts were drenched in soy sauce, so much so it was too salty to eat. The Kung Po Chilli Chicken had a lump of bone in it (lucky I didn't break a tooth) and all the food was greasy and anaemic - the oil clearly was not hot enough. It came out too quickly to be cooked from fresh. For a delicious Chinese (takeaway only), with portions twice the size, cooked freshly to order and more reasonable in price, go to Poh Wah up the road in Hook. Its cash only though!

The food very poor and overpriced. slimy stodgy chicken boiled to death. The rice very greasy and only warm. The drinks are very expensive indeed. £4.50 for a bottle water almost as much as a pint of larger. None of the food looked or tasted great. I have to say one to avoid on our list of eateries local to us. Why on earth pay £40 for food and end up with food that you could of made look and taste better yourself. Poor 4/10. Its very bland inside the restaurant and dirty in places. The building has some nice features like the beams etc. POOR EXPERIENCE. Staff were nice.

Very good service but lacking the high quality and fresh cooking desired. If only the kitchen would produce fresh ly cooked dishes! Kings is in a top location and should make the most of its opportunity.

Table for 9 on a quiet Wednesday night. Previous experiences were at weekends when it was busy and cramped. On a mid week night the food was excellent and the staff friendly, accommodating a couple of fickle eaters. Great night, thanks

Well my trip to Hampshire has come to an end, and what a way to finish my trip with one of the best Chinese meals I have had.the service was first class and the food was on par with the Yang sing in Manchester, excellent fresh and very tasty.

have just returned from King's restaurant and am so glad that we found it! I was looking for somewhere near to us that served lobster, and was delighted to find that King's had it on their menu. I pre-ordered as requested, and can honestly say that it was the most perfectly presented, well cooked and totally delicious fresh lobster that we have ever had! . The whole evening was a delight, from the greeting at the front door by a charming young lady, followed by perfect service and delicious food throughout the evening. We will certainly be returning again and highly recommend King's.

We had not been to Kings for several years so we're delighted to find that little had changed when we visited in January. Excellent variety of dishes, well garnished and beautifully served. A lovely meal and evening.

We got to the restaurant ordered 3 drinks, a Rosie wine and 2 cokes came to £11.75, when we asked why it was so expensive the lady said they added a sercharge, Very expensive.. The food came out at all different times, I had finished my meat dish before I got the rice, small portions, very expensive for what you get, food tasted good, what there was of it.. It seemed like alot of take-aways passed us while we waited for our food.. Won't be returning.

This was our first visit to King's Restaurant and we had a very enjoyable evening. We were made to feel most welcome. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the waiting staff were charming and efficient. We chose one of the set menus, the food was delicious and good value. We will certainly be eating here again and have already recommended it to friends and family.

We've been coming here as a family once every two years or so for New Year's Eve and have never been disappointed.

Visited in a party of nine. We had agreed a price before hand. Several dishes were served including beef with green peppers, a chicken noodle dish, a curry, and plenty of rice. We all had Sing Tao beers, and paid £23 a head including a tip.

We have been getting our take aways here for over 15 years and have never had a bad meal. The food is always really fresh and delicious. Its a bit pricey but it is a restaurant so you expect that but the quality of the food is superb - no chicken balls here !

Outrageous. Dire service from beginning to end. Upon entering the rude staff directed us where to sit like we were in high school. They were all in a frantic rush and forgot my drink but still tried to charge me for it at the end. The portion sizes were a JOKE.... A main dish is the size of a starter portion in normal restaurants and the rice and soup...like eating from a doll's tea set! And the quality of the food was just appalling. My partner said his vegetable dish was like a 'salt water mouth wash' and the wanton soup was almost inedible. When we politely complained the main bossy waitress was instantly defensive and said "why you eat it!?" Altogether it was a horrible dining experience and I have NEVER eaten in a place this bad. Avoid at all costs.

We regularly go to Kings for a takeaway as only decent Chinese around! However, we have noticed the portions have been cut in size lately and the chicken isn't as good quality as before either. Saturday we ordered fried noodles with beansprouts and was given it without, just plain noodles, and half were missing! The portions have definitely been cut, we've noticed that the last few times we've had a takeaway! Also, ordered chilli sauce and got given sweet chilli sauce?! Saying all this, the beef is always great beef and without a doubt it's the best quality takeaway for miles!! Please don't cheat your regulars with smaller portions and same price, we will notice!

I'd heard locally that this restaurant provided excellent takeaway food so had high hopes when we booked our table. It was quite busy in the restaurant and very busy in takeaway area. Service was a bit chaotic and waiting staff had to check with each other that they were taking the right food to the right table.We were served copious amounts of quite unpleasant crispy seaweed. We also opted for the most expensive set meal for three. The highlight was the crispy duck which was quite nice and as expected but everything else was very disappointing and all the main dishes tasted the same. The special fried rice was particularly bad - over cooked and crispy with just a few peas and strips of rubbery chicken. The staff were pleasant and friendly though.We will not be returning.

We have had a few takeaways from Kings during the past couple of years and it has been very nice. However, the last couple of meals we have had were really disappointing.The rice was overlooked, stodgy and appeared to have been sitting water for way too long. Salt and pepper squid wasn't crispy and had little taste bring overpowered by garlic.We won't be going again.

I have been going to the this Chinese for years and still love it. The food is high quality and is always tasty. The staff are very attentive and kind. A great Chinese!

Could do with an update but we have used this restaurant for a number of years and have never had a bad meal the food is good not too overpriced and there is plenty of selection staff are always pleasant and we look forward to visiting again

We visited on a Saturday lunch time and it was really quiet but the meal was lovely and the portions were huge. We all ordered the feast menu and it was a lovely mix of different dishes so something for everyone.

Standard Cantonese dishes, and quality is average. Not bad, not great. Tsing Tao beer is the drink of choice.The decor is a bit odd. Half timbered on the outside, Chinese decor inside, but looks quite tired.Some decent competition in terms of another Chinese restaurant would gee them up a bit.

Had a Chinese takeaway from here had it delivered and came within 15 mins of ordering very quick. I had the Kung po chicken egg fried rice and some prawn crackers it all came to £15.60 thought this was reasonable but when I was eating the Kung po chicken it was very bland and I had to keep adding soy sauce to give it some flavour it didn't have any kick to it at all and the sauce was very thin there was plenty of chicken and rice but the overall dish was pretty poor.

The staff are very attentive and helpful.Tableware clean.The food is of a good quality, but very average.

Myself and husband went here last night with friends..Sat 10th September. The inside decor seriously needs attention, very old, uncared for and shabby, seating is like old seaside cafe! Lady behind bar was madly busy with take away orders so we stood for a while before being seated, busy on a Saturday night and only 2 waiting staff who were running about like loons looking very stressed! Waited a fair while for anybody to take our drinks order. Ordered the mixed starter to share plus 2 other portions of starter & I agree with another reviewer on the small portion sizes...I will say the food was very nice but not the best restaurant Chinese I've had by a long shot..we then had duck followed by mains with rice to share...all ok but by no means memorable but pricey! Husband said it's the only place he's been that cost a fair amount but had ancient burgundy urinals and to dry your hands ripped off pile of kitchen towel hahaha!! Had fun with our friends but won't rush back!! Give it some tlc, spend some money on it as they must be making some and one more staff member perhaps then we might give it another go.

I went here with a friend last night, couldn't get our usual place. This was the set menu we opted for: Crispy Seaweed/Mini Spring Rolls/Chicken SatayBarbecued Spare Ribs/Sesame Prawn ToastThe starters are actually a spring roll, a rib, a prawn toast (slice) and seaweed that would fit two desert spoons. This economy was a theme, bar the duck, which was more, but very dry. Even the rice, which usually bulks the meal fitted comfortably in a standard bowl, not even reaching the upper rim. I cannot stress how bad the portions were, to the degree both myself and my friend were holding back picking up food for fear of leaving the other one hungry. Never again and the bill was significant. Service was fine, but given the product, it needed something.

We decided to have the all you can eat option which turned out to be very tasty, wonderful choice and the service was friendly,polite and couldn't to enough for you. We will be going again! Highly recommend if you like Chinese. Very good value too. 4 of us went on June 8 2016.

Went there last night and had the buffet,very nice indeed if a little overpriced perhaps,This was after using the takeaway option previously where the manageress was rather sharp to say the least when we ordered our food and said we would be back after using the cashpoint...perhaps just not very trusting but still rude

Good food, quality and portions. Value for money. The feast menu for four was good although not enough sauce with the Peking duck. Super efficient service and has the reputation for being almost too fast. Probably be going again in May, so can' t be bad!

Went back here for the first time in a few years, as a treat to my kids. We went for the "buffet" meal. Firstly, the food was pretty nice, not excellent, but good. However, the portions were pretty small, and the "you can only order once" thing was a bit disappointing, especially when the menu is not even close to the normal full menu! I was especially annoyed that my children (8 and 11) were considered too tall and were charged as adults. I may not have minded but the overall cost, for how much food we actually received, was really not very much. At 100 for 2 adults and 2 children, I was unimpressed. A word on service too, perhaps waiting for people to sit before asking for their order and drinks would be a thought! The service was efficient but a bit too in-your-face, all the time asking for your order in an effort to get you done as soon as possible. All in all, I was really disappointed to have gone, such a shame for a place I once held in really high regard for their service, reasonable price, and excellent food. Service: 5/10, Food: 7.5/10, Value: 2/10.

We have visited this restaurant on many occasions over the years and have never been let down. The only disappointment is that they don't open on Sundays!The service is fast, but not rushed and always with a smile. The staff are very polite and well presented. The food is always wonderful.We love Chinese food and this really is one of the best we have ever eaten at. We are thankful it's so close to where we live that we can visit so often.If you enjoy excellent Chinese food and are considering this restaurant, please book yourselves a table. We usually find our food goes one way or the other, different chefs maybe. It's either amazing or rubbish, no in between unfortunately. We use the take away service often, 2 or 3 times a month. They deliver locally which is brilliant and the drivers are always very polite.

We went here for my birthday the other week as I came to the King's years ago with my family for a meal and have always said I wanted to go back. I can't fault the food itself, albeit a little pricey, it's delicious and came out quickly after we ordered which was great as we were hungry! The staff are fantastic, so attentive and always around if you need them. The only thing that let the restaurant down was the restaurant itself, the heating clearly wasn't working and there was a small fan heater placed by the door to try and warm the place up but this really wasn't helping. We were sat by the door so it got a little cold.

We have visited this restaurant for years and always found the food reliable, tasty and authentic. My daughter has a nut allergy and they are excellent at ensuring her meal is completely nut free. Recently it seems to have had a revival and has been quite busy giving it a good buzz. There seem to be numerous takeaway orders too which meant the service was a touch slow on Saturday. However, that said, it didn't ruin the experience.

Place was freezing cold. Food was ok. Staff very attentive but holy molly when the bill came ? A dish each for Four people plus 2 beers, 2 pints of Coke and a single Malibu and Coke came to £ 140.00 oh and we shared 2 special rice ! At that .... Not ever going back there again

Visited after many years of promising ourselves we would and were not disappointed. Go mixed with beansprouts of vegetarian selection on the menu. Very willing to make a vegetarian hot and sour soup which was tasty. For a main I had fried tofu in blackbean sauce with an accompaniment of rice noodles. My husband enjoyed his meat based dish. Good atmosphere and service and reasonably priced. I can honestly say that this was one of the most delicious Chinese meals I have had for a long time and we do eat Chinese food regularly. Booking advised as this restaurant is not that large. Will revisit soon.

Remember those days when a trip to your local Chinese restaurant was an exciting sample of the exotic orient - plastic Buddha figures, lurid green "seaweed", chopsticks, fish tanks and Tsing Tao? It's all here - just more expensive. Food was OK at best; everything else was depressingly naff and stuck in a 1970's timewarp. Avoid.

Good food made to feel welcome ,place could do with updating but the food was great So surroundings didn't bother us

This restaurant always serves lovely food and staff are courteous and efficient. I have never had anything other than a Feast C because everything is so yummy! Not cheap but very enjoyable. Before retirement we ate here regularly and now just occasionally. Do visit, you will not regret it.

Odiham has many excellent restaurants. However, Kings is one my family and I return to regularly because of the outstanding service. We used to take my Dad and even when he was becoming ill the staff responded to this and used to make a fuss of him and look out for him. The food is also really good and always well presented, and the ambiance always friendly and warm.

We were recommended this restaurant by friends who know we love chinese. My rating is 'average' because one cannot say it was outstanding in any way but on the other hand there was nothing wrong. Hence - ...Average. The staff were very attentive without being obtrusive and the dishes kept coming - maybe a little quicker than we were ready for. This slowed down when they realised we were in no hurry. BUT - we were surprised that they only kept 3 bottles of every wine on their list actually in their 'cellar' ....but it did mean we got to sample a few different wines. Would go again when in the area.

Used to be great. Now food has too much salt or MSG or both. Have had some inedible individual dishes. Have stopped having take-aways. A great shame as it used to be so good. Generally few tables occupied which presumably reflects consensus.

We had one of the banquets and it was terrific (I think it was banquet B). The crispy duck, bean sprouts and prawn toast are all must-trys.
