Have never been so insulted falsely accused of stealing despite paying for items and having receipt. Was banned and threatened by management despite spending 100s of pounds at this centre on food and jellycat collectibles. Lee as I was informed the guy who confront me was called said basically he could decide who he can ban. I questioned why and he rudely told us to leave. As me and my partner are both disabled we thought of taking this further. As for the restaurant prices have increased and portions are much smaller. If you want to be monitored on cctv and made to feel like a criminal this garden centre is the place to be.

Went with friend and I ordered the sausage and egg bap with a regular latte. The lady on till got quite confused with my order and asked me four times what I wanted, then said my card had not been accepted, when in fact it had. But that aside I would still not have written a review, other than for the terrible bap! It contained one measly sausage cut in half with an over cooked hard egg. Price £7.85 - such a rip off, will definitely not return.

We have eaten lunch at Plymouth Garden Centre on a number of occasions and have enjoyed it until today - Thursday 26th October 2023. Time- just before 12 noon. We decided to have lunch and we were waiting in the queue. There were two female staff at the checkout. One of them, a lady with short hair coughed into her bare hand not once but again a couple of minutes later. She had no mask and no gloves - in fact, not even a tissue. She could easily have been handling food later on and we were quite shocked. As it was she was using the till and bacteria could have been spread. At that point we decided to leave. Covid is now becoming widespread again but even if it wasn’t this is totally unacceptable behaviour in front of customers at a restaurant and makes me concerned about what could be happening in the kitchen. We will not be visiting again.

Family morning get together after laying flowers in a local graveyard. Excellent service, choice and taste. First time I've seen my brother stuffed - full breakfast (and a half!) Fresh, clean and well laid out, the selection of cakes making it hard to resist them, but they are kept in mind for a future visit....

This is my first visit here and probably my last for food. We ordered the Soldiers Big Breakfast which I think was £9.95. It comprised of 2 Sausages, 2 fried eggs, 2 rashers of bacon, 2 slices of toast, 2 hash browns, baked beans and mushrooms. The quantity was good value for money but it was luke warm, not one item but everything. Even the tea that was ordered with it was luke warm. The eating area was clean and tidy and the food arrived quite quickly which make me think it was all kept in a food warmer and not cooked freshly. The garden centre itself is well stocked but the food is a big let down abd I won't be eating here again.

We are at the garden centre now, it is 13.38, hubby ordered chips, last portion available, I fancied a warm cheese Scone platter, NO cheese scones, solution, put cheese on top of a plain Scone and melt it!, fancied a slice of cheese cake, paid £3.95, see photo ! Could have bought a whole one for that ! The portions at this place are getting smaller each visit. Used to love to come here to eat, but now not so enjoyable. Sort yourselves out Plymouth garden centre, stop charging extortionate prices or up your portions sizes, ex Chef here,so know what I'm talking about! £22.95 with 1 bottle of water

A 'Luxury cream tea'? Just because it was a cherry scone? Tea was weak (budget tea bags) & when we asked for another tea bag we were charged an extra 60p each! I rang Vicky (the manageress) who told me that she has to charge for any extras and thanked me 'for my feedback'! At £5.75 for this not so luxurious cream tea, I think it was very disappointing. I've had coffees there on many an occasion and they were fine. However, the tea was definitely budget and weak. I suggested that when they offer a choice of scones, they should inform you of the price variation too. I definitely won't be having a cream tea there again. Otter nurseries do a much nicer tea.

Had a coffee and flapjack when we arrived, which were fine. After looking around we needed some lunch and, as we didn't know the area and alternatives, decided to go back in the cafe. We had sandwiches and side orders of chips and they were deeply disappointing. Thick slices of bog standard sliced bread; far too much cheap and nasty 'mayo' mixed with boiled egg that didn't appear to have any yolk; overcooked chips; huge wedges of cucumber crammed in with the tuna; side salad of under-ripe tomato, bits of cucumber and waterlogged shredded iceberg. We couldn't bring ourselves to eat it all. Best to stick with just a drink!

First time eating here for a while due of course to lock down, etc. As we were in the area we decided to stop for lunch. After a fairly lengthy wait in the queue, we were fourth when we arrived, we were served, paid and then told the food would be 25-30 minutes. Had we known that we would have left. Being told after we paid is unethical and normally the service is quick. Also they were not busy. So we sat down and it was 35 minutes before the food actually arrived. The saving grace was that it was as well cooked and tasty as ever. So the end product was good, staff were excellent as ever but the manager needs to think about the logistics.

We arrived at the Garden Centre hoping for a nice meal and we were not disappointed. I ordered The Slow Roast Turkey and a Jacket Potato with Cheese and tea for 2 £19.10 Which I thought was very reasonable. I had just poured my first cup of tea when a huge square plate arrived with my dinner closely followed by the large jacket potato with lovely salad for my partner. We just managed to eat all of it and we were bloated. We will be back there next year. That was just the start as the garden centre with it's various shops within it had all sorts of interesting and quality items

If there was a zero rating I’d have given it. Paid £17 for two lunches and a cuppa and they won’t let me have a spare tea cup for my 90-year-old mother to share a pot of green tea. Never been refused this in any cafe before. Company policy apparently. Disgusted. Cheese and ham toastie is disgusting too! Not sure what sort of cheese this is, but it certainly isn’t cheddar! Good- friendly staff, Nice breakfasts, good coffee and cake selection. Good location As not many good coffee shops in the Crownhill- Eggbuckland area Not so good- gets very busy and long queues form waiting to be served. First visit here. I wouldn't call the regular latte size 'regular' at all. More like child size lattes but still priced at £2.25. If I go again I'll make sure I pay the 40p extra each for large lattes in the hope that I get at least regular sized drinks. One of the staff behind the counter made a big thing of the fact that we had taken our own tray to the counter rather than let her take one from under the counter. I was made to feel I'd really transgressed, but with it being a first visit I wasn't aware of their system, each coffee shop has a slightly different way of doing things.

We visited here on 12 March 2018 . Initially for tea and cake but we ordered 3 baguettes . 2 bacon and stilton and 1 brie and cranberry. My husband's came out and my daughter and I thought ours was on their way..how wrong we we're! We waited 20 minutes then my daughter went to complain..she waited 5 minutes whilst the girls were chatting in the kitchen before being seen. When she asked for our food she was told we only ordered 1..lucky I had asked for my receipt. When the food eventually arrived we were informed " the till roll had ran out after my husband's order so they didn't get the other 2 ' funny that seeing as my husband ordered last !..which we informed them of..no apology ...when I went to eat mine there was a scraping of stilton on it..for nearly £6 I didn't think it acceptable so I complained and was met with.."what you want more cheese "..we were going to have cake after but after the treatment we recieved we decided to leave.

Have tried a couple of the cakes but have found them dry and unpalatable on both occasions (though they looked lovely) the toasted tea cakes are a much safer alternative. The seating is functional rather than comfortable, so there are more comfortable cafes but this one is convenient and has a great garden centre attached. My main criticism is the tea. The tea bags they use need to be stronger, far too weak at present.

When ever I have had breakfasts out I have never been asked or realised it was something you have to ask not to be done! Shocking attitude from the member of staff, will not recommend. We had 2 x half childrens sandwiches. 2x tuna baguettes and 1 cheese sabdwich. These came with side salads and crisps. Crisps being 3 single broken pringles which were missing off two of the plates. These were around £5 each. We ordered chips at a cost of £2.75. There was around 8 chips served in a small plant pot. The baguettes had hardly any filling. The cheese sandwich was nice. The childrens sandwiches were charged at a different price to that on the menu. The sandwiches took just under 30 mins to arrive. The staff at the counter were nice and pleasant. Staff that brought the food were miserable. We wont be going back.

The increased size of the Plymouth Garden Centre Coffee Shop has created a light and airy extension without losing light in the original space. The service is friendly and the cake selection has increased so that's a bonus! Still our favourite Garden Centre and now lots more space so we don't have to wait for a welcome snack and drink.

Set in an old fort, this is a friendly garden centre with good parking and easy access from the city centre. Its new Coffee Shop is a welcome addition.

The new Restaurant is light years on from what was available previously. Excellent décor - plenty of space and first class equipment. The food is like home from home with much more variety and the staff are very good at establishing a rapport with customers DW

Went to the newly renovated cafe today (Feb 2014) and all five of us decided to try the Sunday roast. The options were Turkey or Pork and we tried both within our group and both were very tasty. The roasts were good value for money and come with a good selection of veg. Overall a very pleasant atmosphere and nice to seat in the new extension which was lovely and bright. Would go again as the cakes looked lovely but we were all too full to try today.

Perfect for planting the older generation while you select your plants or equipment. In our case while we tried to find a suitable Christmas tree. Now that there is a better eating area, perhaps the food and service could be slightly upgraded.

Every garden centre, however small, has a cafe and makes a good deal of profit that way. Some are dinky cake shop type places, some more extensive. Plymouth garden centre has part of an old low almost hidden building with an enclosed run down functional cafe. Not much to attract you unless it's raining heavily and you run for shelter. We come out here to the centre two or three times a year, just for the plants and kit but have stopped for a cuppa occasionally and it's a depressing corner. However all is to change. A great steel structure has been put up at the eastern end and there is at least one sign indicating it will be a new cafe. Let's just hope that they take some lessons from the weaknesses of the old one. Light fresh meals, plenty of air and a bit of a view. Perhaps keep at least one flat screen. Inject a bit of enthusiasm and bonhomie into the counter staff and cut the queuing by getting someone other than the server to do the longer bits of preparation..

Just stopped by to meet a friend for coffee and cake. It was before lunch so we avoided the rush - it can get busy and service is then slow. The cakes looked fantastic. I chose a lemon cake. My friend chose the coffee and walnut. We were really disappoi ted to find that the buttercream was cheap. All i could taste was margarine. Yuk! Needless to say, i ate the cake and left the frosting. The coffee was good and the environment is clean. I would go again and try their hot food but i wouldn't bother with the cake again.

Go here quite often always excellent food and service, only one complaint, the queueing system. I have been in catering all my life, starting at the bottom and working up to management. In none of my experiences have people had to queue for so long to be served. The girl serving on the till has to serve, take orders and make your drinks.....at peak times why not have someone doing the drinks for her? that way queues and waiting time wont be so long..

I love it here as they have some really lovely cakes and quite a choice of savoury dishes which makes it good for just a coffee stop off or for lunch,it is not massive but quite clean and I usually find the staff most friendly ideal if you want to sit and think about what plants to purchase during your visit

Useful place for a cafe but not very well presented. Needs to close for a couple of days for a fresh coat of paint and a bit of thought about the scattering of nick knacks and stock on the walls. A popular and well run garden centre is let down by some lack of thought about brightening up the tea shop.

The food here is always nice and the staff are friendly. However, they always look short staffed or if they aren't they could do with organising the staff better. On one visit we only wanted cold drinks, we had to wait 10 minutes in line as the people before us were ordering hot food, cakes and hot drinks. It seems that the person taking the order is also the one working the till and the drinks machine, they obviously then begin to get a back log of customers. It would make more sense to have someone work the till, ring in the orders, take payment and have a different person to do the hot drinks/cakes, then the kitchen deal with the meals. We have been numerous times recently and despite the time of day we always seem to have a wait. Having said that the meals are worth the time, as we always have a good time.

Typically great brewdog atmosphere and like normal the bar staff have good music taste. Impressive guest drinks selection, and awesome food menu. Love the buffalo sauce they use here. Really do like the atmosphere. If the drinks were a little cheaper I’d sit and drink for hours.

Avoid at all costs. Unpleasant people who have no idea of a community pub. No care in the world other than themselves.

Our dining experience at the Mayflower was mixed, with friendly service but substandard food. Service: The staff were welcoming and attentive, resolving minor issues like smudged glassware quickly and professionally. The bread service was a nice touch, and we appreciated the small details from the staff. Food: Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. My Wagyu Burger (£27) was dry with a stale bun, and the beef short rib (£33) was more like a small, over-seasoned croquette rather than a proper portion. Both dishes felt overpriced for what was delivered. Response to Feedback: When I shared feedback with the staff, the waitress didn’t seem to know how to handle it and left us feeling quite uncomfortable. Although the manager, Mike, later removed the cost of the mains, the experience had already been marred by the poor food quality and lack of service recovery at the time. In summary, while the service started strong, the disappointing food and awkward handling of our feedback made for a subpar dining experience.
