Called in for a spontaneous drink , loved the feel of the place , staff were very friendly decided to stay for lunch , very accommodating and efficient , food was 5* thanks to Stuart and kitchen staff , bar staff were also very helpful and efficient especially holly , the Plymouth arms is definitely one of my favourite places to go for a quality bite to eat Da iawn 👍🏻

I only ordered items from the starter menu. Delicious food, beautifully presented. Our plate was full of different flavors—each bite lifted my spirits. The decor has character, and there are plenty of benches outside. Come and visit! It's definitely worth a try.

Family day at St Fagans spoiled by deciding to eat lunch here. Over-priced and underwhelming food. Beers limited in choice. No Welsh beers at all. We waited around 40 mins for food. We didn't order anything complicated and yet when my pizza arrived it looked and tasted like it had been made by a three year old. Chicken kebab dry and veg option too salty. We did complain and we were offered money off our bill but by then the damage was done. Having sent my pizza back I did treat myself to an Asda pizza when got home. £1.71 compared with £14 in the pub. This is our fifth visit here in the last 5 years and after today we won't be returning.

A Once-Loved Pub Lost This pub holds a special place in our family’s history — my parents in-law had their wedding reception here, and we’ve returned regularly over the years. It was once a welcoming, relaxed place with great food and a genuine local charm. Sadly, that character has faded. In recent years, the atmosphere has become noticeably rigid. The emphasis on “booked diners” and the overly formal approach from staff have made the pub feel uninviting to casual visitors. What was once a friendly local has started to feel more like a restaurant focused on one-time tourists. On our latest visit, we were charged £4.30 each for a coke. Whilst I’m aware of the overheads that our pubs face, this is far above the local average. On repeat visits, it’s been palpable that the staff don’t seem happy — something that becomes more noticeable each time. While it’s clear this isn’t the fault of the individuals themselves, it’s likely a reflection of the management structure and overall environment. Unfortunately, this discontent inevitably carries over into the service, affecting the experience for guests. It’s a real shame to see such a meaningful place lose what made it special. The pub now seems geared toward short-term profit rather than building lasting connections with returning customers. Unfortunately, we’ll think twice before coming back.

Just had a very impromptu Deliveroo Sunday Roast delivery. and it was top notch. One Beef and one Pork/Beef/ Turkey combo. Delivered nice and hot, good quality meats, nice roasties and green veg and plenty of gravy. We’ll definitely re-order when we next fancy a lazy impromptu Roast.

Absolutely beautiful and hot food served here, in stunning surroundings and a great atmosphere. The staff are so polite and happy. The new young man who served us was so professional and couldn't do enough for us. We have been many times over the years, I would highly recommend The Plymouth Arms. X

Great service but the food was really bad. Like really cheap and nasty. For ~£20 I’d expect more than some deep friend minced chicken in a bun. The meal must’ve cost a few pence to make it was really awful! Like worse than frozen Iceland chicken awful. Nice people but let down by the food. Won’t eat here again.

Amazing food, staff were amazing too. Nice to see a friendly face in the new manager Adam that guy knows how to run a business we all had a wicked day there we will definitely be visiting again. Also found out that a former colleague of mine Stuart was in the kitchen doing what he does best smashing out great food.

First time visiting the Plymouth arms. Great food, beautiful atmosphere with beautiful scenery. Got served by a girl called Molly. What a lovely girl! She made our visit special. She made sure we had everything we needs from the time we arrived to the time we left. She was so kind and caring. You could see she loved her job. She was going out of her way not to just help us but everyone she came in contact with. You dont get to see that often She is a great asset to the place. Every place needs a molly. Can't wait to come back.

Lovely atmosphere in the heart of St. Fagans right next to the museum! We were served by Italia who was extremely accommodating - we will definitely be coming back. The lamb koftas are incredible!

Ben front of house was amazing. Trying to do the job of several people. The food was satisfactory however the wait was not. It lacked organisation of any sort and this is probably why our food was eventually delivered incorrectly. The salad we ordered to accompany, was something totally different. Ben kept trying his best, highly professional. He and us as customers deserve better.

The plymouth arms would always normally be our go to place for a lunch or family meal or special occasion we always enjoyed the food and service. We’ve recently noticed a staff and management change and don’t know if it’s a reason for the drop in food quality, but the food isn’t as nice. We had a roast dinner recently and everything was under par the veggies were way undercooked and the normally really tasty beef dripping was no where near as nice or rich in flavour really lacking. I had the lamb koftas and pitta share plate today, the pittas were over cooked and the salad was so old and disgusting I wouldn’t serve it to my dog. Only saving grace was the beautiful sunshine in the beer garden. So disappointed probably won’t be eating here again for special occasions.

Lovely atmosphere and decor. Very friendly staff. However food was over 2.5 hours late, despite promises. Good was okay, but a couple of meals were missing main ingredients. 2 hungry children

Very quiet when we arrived at 1pm and we had to look for somebody to show us to our table. We ordered gammon, egg and chips and waited until the food arrived 45 minutes later which then had to be sent back as it was cold. Needless to say we won’t be returning

kids meals are extremly small with the smallest amount of chips ever. the puddings are not worth the money

Great Sunday lunch and great service! Adam and the team really go out of their way to make your experience the best! It was busy but the food still arrived quickly and was piping hot, the team were very attentive throughout our visit!

First time eating at the Plymouth. The food was exceptional and I see food as just energy but I was very VERY impressed service was good. Manager was on the ball, we pre ordered as a group and some ordered on the night. All food was hot and prompt would recommend to everyone to eat here.

Really great pub/restaurant. Staff are so friendly and welcoming, the food is amazing. I often stop by for a light meal and drinks, but the few times I have stayed for a full meal it has been even better the food is very well made and a good portion size.

Went for Sunday dinner with family members, we were great with a warm welcome and shown to our table very fast. Our server was Seren she was fast and very thorough with taking our order. Food was lovely warm and did not have to wait long for our meals.

DO NOT GO HERE AFTER AN EVENT. We were loyal customers for many years and unfortunately its my birthday just after Valentines. We went there tonight for my birthday meal to be told bluntly that our choices from the menu were not available so we were forced to order what was available. Birthday drink? Forget that one too. I was told that as they are moving away from Fever Tree. They only had slimline tonic and that was the on tap slimline. So. not only were we forced to order food that was not our first choice. We were also forced to order something different to drink. The starter was awful. Mine was underdone. My husband had some that were under. Some that were over. Our main course consisted of 90% gristle and fat. Cooked like the starter. We had asked for a doggie bag with the starter (which resulted in us being given a container for us to fill ourselves). Having tried to eat the main. I asked my husband to pay so we could go. I couldn't face having to look at the dessert menu only to be told what wasn't available. My husband explained it hadn't been the best meal. It got quie heated. Gristle was taken off. But we still paid through the nose for what we couldn't eat. No apology either. Do yourselves a favour and give it a miss after busy events. Pic of our doggie box. Not sure our dog will eat it either.

Came in Valentine’s Day evening The waitress Sue was fantastic attentive & friendly, sue made sure we had everything we needed The food was delicious we had the chateaubriand to share & vanilla cheesecake for dessert Will definitely return soon

Came here for a day out and decided to stop for lunch at the Plymouth Arms. Food was delicious! I ordered the Baked Scallops & King Prawns which came with toasted ciabatta & my partner ordered the Fillet Steak. Service was great. Adam & Piers came & checked on us, plus a nice surprise from the chef Stuart. Will definitely be returning.

Came with my 2-Son’s and friend of mine, which we all enjoy the food @ Drinks just so good service, most definitely come back again. My 2-son’s are Autistic they enjoy it most important as they just relax had a lovely time.. 3rd of Feb… Mon… We went to Plymouth Arms Last night and we were very Disappointed of the outcome Service wise, we had a long wait for our food plus my youngest son has Autism and waiting not always easy for him.. What we don’t understand we order our food but these people who came in afterwards, had there’s b4 us which I find completely backwards my poor boyz weren’t happy.. When the woman brought our food she then caught my meat b4 it went on the floor.. by hand… it wasn’t busy night… It was nearly an- hour for food, we decided we won’t be coming back again.. Very Disappointed @ very poor service.. We will be going somewhere else, plus there wasn’t much choice in the Menu not good for a Restaurant:…..

Difficult one this. The food was good, but they were very short staffed, due to illness. The staff who were there were very apologetic and kept us informed. I am fully prepared to give them another go, as, all in all, it was a nice pub.

Everything was excellent- the food was delicious, the service was great. We were a large group all wanting to pay individually, which got complicated when we had to work out taking off the deposit but the staff explained it clearly and made it easy for us, though it took much more of their time. We also really enjoyed the real fire, the decorations, the setting and the ambience. It's a really attractive pub, very nicely decorated, including the toilets!

Good food served in a lovely environment with friendly and attentive staff

I booked a table weeks in advance of my son and daughter’s birthdays but on arrival at the venue was told by the manager that he had been trying to contact me literally 2 hours before our booking to let me know that there were limited vegetarian choices as they had supply issues and had run out of most of it. I had missed these calls and, as 3 members of our group are vegetarian, it wasn’t ideal but said it was ok, we would manage. We were seated in an empty restaurant which surprised me as online they were fully booked for the evening. We were then advised that they had run out of nearly half of the items on the menu, not just vegetarian options. It appeared that this had been the case all day and frontline staff had had to bear the brunt of unhappy customers. With no other people in the restaurant (I can only think that they were contacted and all cancelled due to the limited menu available), staff setting up tables for the following day around us along with pretty much everything we wanted to order from the menu being unavailable, the evening was extremely flat and disappointing. We were given a 20% discount but this hardly made up for our birthday celebrations being completely spoiled. Given the high number of bookings in the run up to Christmas they should have been better prepared than this and to be honest would think twice before booking a meal here again.
