Food was great and dog friendly which was a must for our group. The manager (I think), rearranged the table bookings so we could remain on our table after our meal for drinks. Very impressed with the venue - would be great in summer with the large garden. I highly recommend the Plymouth Arms in terms of food quality, fantastic service, great venue and plenty of parking. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

The only thing damp and squibby was the torrential rain dropped by Storm Bert. However, as soon as we stepped into the Plymouth Arms we were greeted with warm smiles, surroundings and obvious cleanliness. The service was good, the food was delicious and eventually the rain abated and the dry walk to the car park was much appreciated.

Always been one of my favourite pubs on the outskirts of Cardiff. I think some changes have recently happened the new decor is lovely and tastefully done. The menu is fresh with a good mix of gastro pub classics along with some exciting fusion ideas. The portions are massive now compared to how I remember and the food is equally delicious the only thing I noticed was tram was stretched thin on the floor. But this isn't a slight on them but just more of a sign of the times if you're patient like myself and come from hospitality you won't find it an issue. If like some you're an impatient want everything now sort of prat you should probably stay home.

Ate here on a Thursday lunchtime very disappointed, food was brought out all different times , my daughters burger had fallen apart on the plate and the waitress dropped one of the onion rings on the floor and just left it there , my fish & chips was stone cold so it went back to the kitchen then come back out once the others in our group had finished there food , starter plates was left on the table the whole duration , really poor cold food and poor service definitely one to avoid , I had a email offering me a voucher I responded back and it’s been ignored !!!!

We were a bit disappointed with the Sunday lunch. My turkey had more fatty skin than meat and my husband had the trio of meats which was very fatty too. The carrots were huge (one way to fill the plate) and hard, parsnip was hard too, the roasties weren't crisp and the cauliflower cheese wasn't particularly cheesy. The gravy was delicious though.

Have always liked the atmosphere at the Plymouth Arms, food has been a bit hit and miss in the past but called in today and very much enjoyed the fishfinger sandwich. Lovely, chunky pieces of haddock on tasty ciabatta with decent fries included. What really blew me away though was the service, my friend and I called in with our two young babies so asked for a table out of the way, the gentleman who served us provided a fab seat in a separate room where we could make as much noise as we wanted without disturbing anyone! He was very attentive and although we were juggling lunch with babies, he made it really easy and enjoyable. Didn’t catch his name but he was a Lancashire chap - thanks again! :-)

It's the best Sunday roast I've ever had.. I went for the slow cooked pork belly, and it was absolutely delicious.. the meat was simply just melting in my mouth, the crackling was crispy, the Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, and vegetables were as good as you could expect from a proper restaurant. No complaints at all from me. Hubby had fillet sea bass and king prawns, served with baby potatoes, peas, broccoli, and a creamy white wine sauce and he was content with everything. Definitely will be my go-to place for Sunday roast.

Had a really lovely meal this evening for my mum's 60th birthday. Staff were under so much pressure due to a technical failure which caused some delays but they handled it beautifully. There was an absolutely vile entitled couple sat behind us who spoke to one of the supervisors like he was dirt on her shoes. I am a retail manager myself, and if he had been one of my staff and she had spoken to him that way, she would have been very quickly walking out the door very soon after. She made a big fuss about how she had already emailed customer services and everyone else she could think of. She sent food back twice just to cause trouble. To those people if you are reading this, disregard her complaint as the toilet fodder it is. I promise you it was her, her male companion and the table next to them who they dragged into their creating a fuss for good measure who were the problem. The supervisor held firm and handled it splendidly. Thank you to The Plymouth Arms for a lovely evening and a lovely meal as always. Mum had a lovely 60th birthday. You were dealt a bad hand and you faced it down and smashed it.

As they are not cooked the natural sweetness and flavour of the humble carrot doesn't shine . Please cook your carrots another 15 mins roasted in the oven would make a world of difference. When I asked the waiter about this he said every Sunday people complain and every week the chefs ignore the complaints.its s shame because the meat is always good and usually the veg is good too . cauliflower cheese was perfect today the cabbage and parsnips poor.. My family and I dined at The Plymouth Arms on Father’s Day. The staff were very helpful but unfortunately this was the only positive. We waited an hour for our first course to appear and had to ask the waitress how long the main course would take as that wait was far too long. The three rib eye steaks were very tough and we called the waitress over however a waiter arrived and politely told us we were unlucky with the cut of the meat and they wouldn’t have known!. The two roast dinners were only luke warm bordering on cold and when we tried to order desserts there were no chocolate brownies left and only one serving of lemon pie. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen but on this night we were let down. Think we were just unlucky on this occasion and we’ll hopefully have better luck next time we visit. Such a shame as lovely beer gardens, plenty of parking and nice staff.

Nothing mentioned nothing offered as good will... 🍹 The 2 other familys sat near us also had bad service.. the one family didn't even get to eat with the kids.. 20/30 mins between meals.. 🙈 We paid and left.. no-one available to see Shocking.. Always visited this pub throughout our childhoods after a trip to st fagans museum however we will never return. I booked a table for 6pm and we arrived around 5 minutes early, we were seated straight away and our order was taken no later than 6:05pm. After 45 minutes, with our drinks completely empty, we asked our server if they could check up on our food. The server advised us that a new POS system was fit in yesterday so there was a technical issue and our order never went through to the kitchen. Surely after the 10-15 minute mark it should have been noticed that we hadn’t received our food and this should have been checked with the kitchen. Instead we were forgotten about and ignored. The server was extremely apologetic and took second drinks orders which the manager then brought over. It was apparent that the manager knew we were unhappy with the wait as he put the drinks down and hurried off as quickly as possible without a mention of if we had received our food/how our food was. We then waited a further 15 minutes so we then requested that the manager come over to speak with us. We were met with a lack of compassion and unprofessionalism and were asked “what would you like me to do?” By the manager. It was repeated that there were technical errors which caused the delay. After looking through some of the poor previous reviews, I can see that they have blamed a new POS system for three weeks so this clearly was not the case. After being repeatedly told the server would check on the status of our food with no update and an hour and 15 minute wait, the food was finally brought out. Immediately, we could smell how burnt the pizza was and the rest of the food looked to be of low standard. This was the final straw and we told management that we would be leaving. The manager told us not to pay for anything and we asked for head offices number. We were then provided with the wrong contact number so had to go back in to confirm the correct number. The manager was extremely unprofessional and threw the server under the bus in this instance. The manager denied knowing anything about the delay in the food, which is a massive problem as the restaurant was not particularly busy and it is down to the manager to ensure everything is moving along efficiently. Over all the service really let the evening down and on what was supposed to be a special occasion, we found ourselves ordering at Burger King. I have no doubt that the restaurants response will be just as unprofessional as the previous replies and I look forward to speaking with head office.

Since there is no staff, if you have a problem it may not be resolved quickly, but I didn't have one, so everything was great. A large and bright room, well heated with a radiator and a also very good bathroom with all the bathroom products available. If I return to Cardiff I would repeat.

First time ordering from here and won’t be ordering again. Place order at 7pm advised delivery would be at 20.30. That came and went phone to find out where order was to be told they are busy will be half hour that came and went rung again told just waiting for driver will be 10-15mins what a surprise that came and went. Rung again to be told he is on his way. Waited over 3hrs for this order while making a complaint to them on the phone all I got was sorry we busy tonight I understand place get busy but 3hrs to wait in ridiculous all I got offered was £5 of next order they can keep the offer as I will not be ordering again

Proper pub. Can get busy but usually able to get a seat. Great service, good food and decent Brains beer and guest selection. Recommend the Barry Island ipa.

Watered down coffee, tasted like it came from a Costa machine at a petrol station. Had a cheese & tomato toastie too which was kinda plain. Was excited to try this as costa had partnered with M&S, but they have failed my expectations.
