Costa Coffee - Roath in Cardiff

The team at Costa are very polite and they all work hard.

I come in here a lot and the staff is friendly and sometimes they bring your food over to you when they are not busy servicing customers

Customer service non existent not fit for purpose,

No no no. Staff are very rude and inattentive....a most unpleasant cafe. Can't recommend. Staff school children coming in. Noisy. Sitting at tables unclean and sticky. Not fair to Costa standards. Never again. They couldn't care less

This is actually the costa in link retail off Newport rd Cardiff but doesn’t seem to be on trip advisor. This is the 2nd time I’ve gone there and had lukewarm tea - I go there to meet a friend with a disability as he likes the accessibility from the car park but the tea is awful. Why can’t they boil the water?

Disgusted by the behaviour of the staff member Joe today. He was nothing but rude and seemed to have an attitude towards us from the start. He carelessly put our toasties in to be heated to which they fell apart as he was just so aggressive with them. Joe’s manor and attitude has really ruined our experience with this costa as we come here a lot and have always found it amazing. Will not be returning after today.

The boys are lovely here, but I’m sorry The lady with the name badge donna, really let’s the company down. How is she still employed here???

I was having quite a down day and the baristas behind the counter were really friendly, chatted with me about Christmas, has Christmas jumpers on and pretty much made my day. I wish every customer service experience was like this because we would all be better off. Thank you ☺️

I believe we were ‘served’ by Donna, using served as a very loose term. No greeting, awful attitude and very snappy. She yelled at the delivery driver, Uber pick up man and seemed rude to her colleague. Working in hospitality, I get we have off days, but honestly she completely ruined our afternoon. Truly feel bad for the poor guy who had to work alongside her.

Recently visited Albany branch. The brown haired lady I think her name is Donna was so rude to not only customers but also delivery driver. She would not let me scan my costa card. She shouted at an elderly woman. She shouted at the delivery driver for putting a delivery in the wrong place. She was abrupt rude short and deterred customers making them feel awkward. Shocked at this service. Not what I expect from such tan esteemed brand.

Was very disappointed by the customer service from the brown haired lady shouting at customers making them feel uncomfortable. Would not recommend visiting whilst she is employed there

The staff are so rude in this store, especially the brown haired woman. She speaks to everyone with a very abrupt/rude tone as if she is being massively inconvenienced by people wanting coffee in a Costa. Tables are only clear and clean if you're willing to clear them yourself and ask for a cloth.. again this seems to massively annoy brown hair lady. I've had so many poor experiences in here that I've given up going here now

Been in here twice in the last couple of weeks. Today is the last time. Only person at the till & staff took several minutes make eye contact & seeve me. More than 10 tables with dirty cups on them. Tables without dirty crockery on then were dirty. Place generally shabby & unclean. Toilet I used smelled of urine & was very dirty. No wonder the place is always empty.

We visited Costa today whilst visiting our son in Cardiff. We were appalled! The staff were inept and one of them was abrupt and had a defensive attitude. The general appearance of the cafe was grubby; floors and tables unkept and dirty, nothing cleared or cleaned away. The toilets were disgusting, excrement down the outside and on the seat. I was cautious when washing my hands, as the whole sink area was unhygienic! I would add that there were only two staff working so it would have been difficult to find time to clean or tidy. However, this is not the standard that I would expect from Costa and will not be visiting again and would forewarn future customers - Yuk!!

I went in today at 11.30AM Thursday 21st September. Was served by a young lad who almost looked like he was being held hostage there. No eye contact and mumbling ‘what do you want?’ Terrible service, I was going to sit in but after having a service as such I decided to take my coffee else where. I get that everybody hates a 9-5 but have some enthusiasm in you! Quite tall browned haired! Refused to give me his name.

Today I bought hot white chocolate from this shop around 5.30 pm and unfortunately it was not a nice one. Also my order was Lemon Sponge cake slice but unfortunately I got a cup cake when I opened the package after reaching the home. Worst experience and I really felt like cheated. The man on the counter was not at all professional- not wishing the customer, not even saying a thank you and most importantly it’s really hard to get an I contact from him because he is always doing something while talking to the customers.

Awful service. Even the women didn’t tell me ‘Hi’. I usually always order a plant based milk cappuccino because I'm allergic to dairy milk. I am sure that in the cup that she warmed the milk there was dairy milk left from the previous order. After that coffee I had terrible stomach pain two days. Also the place was miserable. At least with such high prices I expected to get better service and a tidy place

The attitude in the woman serving was terrible. The coffee was sub standard. For these reasons will not be returning here. Staff could do with some customer service training!

Wonderful service and very pleasant atmosphere.

I was here 30th April and came here as my friend was running late and I needed a place to wait as I was feeling unwell. I bought a large latte but a member of staff ( Donna) recognised I was ill and brought me water and checked in on me. I recently was hospitalised for covid induced pneumonia and have since been struggling with breathing problems and low blood pressure. Donna thank you so much for your care and kindness .

The customer service was not too bad, but my main issue was the WC as in toilets facilities to use them we have to tap in some numbers bottom of receipt, i had to ask someone as i couldn't see them without my reading glasses, anyway the toilets were unhygienic, with urine on the seat, floor was not clean, i will most certainly not be going in costa again.

Enjoyed the coffee with my family but disappointed that one of the barristars put out a load of cardboard waste on the street outside. As it was windy the cardboard was blown around. Not bin collecting day I pointed this out to the staff but they felt it was not their problem. Who's responsible for the environment?

Great staff, very friendly and a nice cool, chilled atmosphere here. Get a seat by the window and watch the passers by. Coffees and snacks are gorgeous.

Awful service, bad attitude from the staff and manager. The woman put the croissant in the microwave and made it inedible, when my mother asked her what cakes were available the woman said "there are labels on them you can read" so blatantly rude there! No clue about providing customer service!!

Great coffee, staff were polite and helpful. Not cheap, but coffee was as expected and thoroughly enjoyed.

Came down from birmingham with my family. Lovely customer service. Drinks were amazing. Croissant and chocolat twist were OK. The only negative point is that they’re not cleaning the table quickly. We wanted to sit and we had to make our own place.( moving the dirty stuff from the previous customers)

Staff are lovely but the place is freezing 🥶. WiFi (just about) works in the front half of the store, but there is only 1 plug socket which is right at the back of the store!

Being a bit of a Costa fan I visit many various outlets. On this occasion I have to highly commend this store and its staff led by Tom and assisted by James, Rob and Brian for their excellent customer service and interaction. They communicate with their customers as if they are friends rather than customers. As soon as I walked in today James instantly remembered what I had last time! There is no corporate type chat just good old down to earth genuine chat, oh and excellent coffee of course! Well done guys.

People with laptops occupy tables, and stay for long periods. Toilets were of poor hygiene.

went there only to grab a coffee and a gift card as a christmas present. I know it is hard to talk with the masks on, but the barista did not seem to understand a single word. There was no 'hello' or 'thank you' said in the conversation from his side. He did not smile once, so I watched him how he is with his colleagues and he was happily chatting to them and laughing As soo ln as he turned back to me, his face froze and there was that grumpy-annoyed look he offers to the customers. Quite amusing to watch his personality changes, however, he could really use some customer service training. Never going back, no thanks.

Love a good old Costa coffee, and who doesn't. I know you have your little coffee snobs when it comes to choosing Costa, Nero, Starbucks, simply who cares.. its coffee at the end of the day. Costa on Albany Road have some of the best services I've seen towards their customers to be honest.

10/10 would recommend this Costa Coffee store on Albany Road. The workers (including the lovely young female and male behind the counter and the store manager Thomas) dealt with an issue I had very professionally - I can only praise, commend and admire the way the way they had communicated with me today in the store. Collectively, they had provided me with a clear and coherent explanation for the issue, apologised and made me feel very valued as a customer. Phenomenal customer service, well done to the team working today on 09/06/2021 - extremely impressed and will be recommending this store to family, friends and other Cardiff University students in the area. My favorite costa is fforestfach on the tesco side it has an atmosphere that hugs you as you go in its not the modern ones that are everywhere .the staff are fantastic Callum even remembered my order after first lockdown I have a cappuccino in a glass.they are all fantastic and are like family.its my sanctuary in these horrible times now I dont meet my friends as I am ocd about this virus as I know people that have died.

Its Costa so you know what you're getting here but the staff at this branch are really lovely

The staff were fantastic, very friendly. Love the fact that they have a book swap table. You can take a book off the table home as long as you leave a book in its place. When asked why they do this, the chappie told me that it's to get people away from their mobile phones, and give them something else to do instead of looking at the phones all the time. Oh yeah, coffee was quite possibly the best I've had for a long time!

I love the coffee here, especially the cortado! It is a nice relaxing place with lovely atmosphere!

Great coffee and a nice coffee shop, though the shop itself is rather cold. The staff are pleasant and efficient but their toilets let them down. They tend to be grubby, have something essential such as soap or toilet paper missing, yesterday it was hand soap. It’s a convenient location, which is why we use it.

This shop always disappoints me if you order tea they always seems confused yet it's better then Starbucks tea but then it difficult to make a tea as bad as Starbucks. Tea is so simple to make water at above 99c bag or leaf tea brewed for 3 to 5 minutes add sugar then milk if you take it BUT NO COFFEE SHOP MAKES GOOD TEA 😣

Great coffee and atmosphere. Staff are very friendly. It's a nice place to meet up and chill for a bit and watch the wild rush by outside. It's a clean and well lit place. Parking can be an issue at very busy times. If your luck is on, you can park directly outside. Buses are very regular.

I had a fantastic experience at Costa served by a lovely mother to be, she educated me in different types of coffee and actually took the time to figure out exactly what I liked. All the other co-workers were lovely too. Such a warm and friendly place 🙏🏻✨ Thank you

Always somewhere to sit and generally clean which is great, just wish the price of coffee was cheaper.

It's a nice Costa, spacious compared to most, and good coffee from friendly baristas. Wasn't too crowded when I went in. Always nice to have power sockets but not that many of the tables seemed to have sockets nearby.

I enjoy a costa coffee but there toilet hygiene is shocking. Albany rd and town. Also flies on the cakes today. Not good. Coffee needs to be made hotter especially when weather is cold, it's like warm milk

Awful rude staff especially the manager who does not understand English very well and is also happens to be the franchisee. If I could give zero stars I would. There are better cafes to go to such as coffee#1 across the road.
