My wife and I found this great pub last Friday whilst in the area and are glad we did. On arrival we received a warm friendly greeting from Sean (Shaun?) behind the bar and were made to feel welcome. We were there to eat and got a nice table by the window. The menu is extensive and very reasonably priced with, in my opinion, something for everyone. I chose the all day breakfast and my wife had a 4oz steak. Both arrived piping hot, well presented and tasted great. We have no complaints at all. We chatted to the landlady who came to clear the table and found her very pleasant and charming. All in all this is a very friendly pub with good food and drink that is well worth a visit. Two things which really suited us are the fact that the lunch service does not end until 3pm and that you can get 4oz steaks which cater for the smaller appetite.

What an excellent pub - friendly atmosphere, great staff, excellent food and wonderful entertainment (what more could you ask for). We just happened to be passing and saw a sign out the front saying Ouse Valley Singles Club playing tonight so we thought we would go along and enjoy a live band and have a meal. Well let’s start with the meal that was just excellent homemade food (the pies are magnificent along with the hand cut chips) the band were just excellent (you could hear the band clearly over the instruments - they really gave it their all). But most of all I would have to say the staff and the regulars where so friendly they really made the night - we will definitely return.

We went with friends, my order ( due to severe allergy) was got wrong 3 times, eventually land lady rudely said ‘ if you had let the chef know we could have amended your meal’ to which I replied ‘ I did, 3 times and it’s still got what I am allergic to on the plate!’ Didn’t get any apology just told off for not letting them know; which we did 3 times!!! Rude service, rough pub with rough staff and regular clientele, cant recommend and wont be back

Patrick and Carol, the owners, have created a wonderful environment to go and enjoy a meal and a few drinks with family and friends. Their hospitality is second to none! They put on some fantastic social events and live music events (no wonder those who are barred go to every measure to try and get back in lol) Keep up the good work! Lovely place!

This pub has a excellent atmosphere! Children and families are made to feel extremely welcome. The new decor in the pub really adds character to it’s already vibrant personality. I would highly recommend this pub to all. A true village gem.

We fancied going somewhere different / a change. So rang just to make sure we could get a table. Very friendly welcome when we arrived and got some drinks and were shown to our table. The restaurant is small but the seating is not cramped. Ordered our food. When it arrived it looked fantastic, that’s to say that if you look on their website what you see in the pics is exactly what you get! We both had steak. Medium rare for me and the boss had well done 😤 I’ve got to say that it makes a change to get a steak cooked exactly how you ask for it. Spot on! The mushroom sauce was really nice 😉 lemon tart for my desert and my wife had white choclate moose, mmmmm felt like licking the plate but I was told to mind my manners. Saw the chef and complimented him on his expertise. Was pleased with the cost as well. Having finished our meal, we then took a look in the other part of the bar. As there was a karaoke going on we decided to have a couple of drinks and listen, and of course partake with a little vocal warbling. Needless to say we were taken in by the friendly atmosphere and stayed the whole evening and didn’t leave until (cough) late. 😂😂 I can thoroughly recommend the plough & harrow for a great evening. We will definitely be going again!!!

Very attentive staff, including landlords, serving good food which was well cooked. 'Interesting' wooden wall inside, not sure what that was about. A little pricey for a village pub, but overall a pleasant visit.

It was a quiet night when we went. At first, we thought we had it all wrong and was ignored but it was quickly rectified and the staff inc the landlord came over welcomed us. The food was nice and there was loads of it.

We went here recently and the food served was delicious. Creamy mushrooms on a ciabatta (not a small serving either!). Then fish and chips. All homemade and you could really tell so top marks there. The atmosphere was bad though, rowdy people at the bar while we were trying to eat dinner. Completely ruined our experience and they should separate the bar from the diners as this wasn’t good.

In fairness the food was fine and the service good, but we unfortunately clashed with a mum and baby club ... having moved round to the bar side in the hopes of catching up with an old friend that I hadn't seen for several years, we were met with a rowdy bunch of men who thought they could sing and enjoyed aggravating us with the juke box very loud. These young men, some who worked for B&B; carpenters, were knocking back pints and even drove away in works vans from the pub. Definitely not somewhere to go for a quiet lunch. We felt extremely let down by the staff, as we were out of town visitors having chosen a half way point to meet. I see it's a family run business and my review is not consistent with others. I trust management will be as disappointed to read this as we were to have our day ruined

Lovely home made food, great staff, good service! Perhaps could slightly separate the dining area from the bar and provide some mood lighting to give a more intimate dining experience? Mind you that's just my opinion - it's clearly a popular locals pub and that's what pubs should be. There is live music in the public bar on Saturdays from nine PM. Great if you like a lively atmosphere. We would visit again.

Visited for a quick evening meal with my partner. Service was exceptional, can't fault the owners, both very friendly and attentive. Food was surprisingly excellent, had hunters chicken and partner had half chicken. Freshly cooked, veg perfect and chips were homemade and very tasty. Not the place to visit for a cosy pub meal though - well frequented by the locals for watching sports and lighting/decor is more suited to a cafe (but not a greasy spoon as one other reviewer stated, that was just mean). If you don't mind slightly unusual decor you'll get a great meal at excellent value here and good customer service is worth a lot.

We had a very tasty lunch at a reasonable price. The starters of pate and prawn cocktail were really good. The garlic mushrooms were delicious but could have done with a few more mushrooms. The roast pork was excellent and served with fresh vegetables. The hunters chicken was also very tasty. We will be back soon.

This pub is under relatively new management and they seem all-out to impress. Visited in a party of six for a pre-Christmas meal and were not disappointed. We had a meal here several weeks earlier and decided it would be a good place for a larger group meet-up. The food was cooked to perfection and there was more than we could manage. We found three real ales being served but all four of us who went for ales found the Admans Ghost Ship on such giood form that we did not try the others! Landlord, landlady and staff were all keen to get their Christmas season off to a good start. There was live music in the other bar which could clearly be heard in the restaurant side. generally quite a lively pub.

Vegetable soup was luke warm very bland and extremely thick, Cottage pie had no flavour at all and Bakewell had hard pastry and slighlty burnt on top and the tiniest scoop of ice cream compared to the huge amount of cream that came with the other guests. All in all a disappointment, would have actually complained if we were not with friends who had recommended you. Such a shame as was so looking forward to our meal. The girl who served us was however excellent and very professional. And i might add 1 other person complained about their meal and 1 sent theirs back.

Looking forward to Sunday Roast. Ordered prawn cocktail for starters which was very tasty and butter not margarine on the bread. Very nice. Unfortunately we had to wait an hour after finishing our starter before we got our roast beef lunch. Just as we were about to leave our meal arrived. Horseradish and gravy was brought but no salt or pepper which would have been good. At this point we were grateful for the food so didn't bother to ask. Beef was good, potatoes were good, vegetables lukewarm, Yorkshire puddings more like muffins and undercooked. Use equal parts of egg, milk, and plain flour, season to taste and you will never fail. Waitress I think her name was Stacy was very polite and apologised for the wait but it was too little too late. Extremely unlikely we will visit again. Good luck for the future.

Went to Plough and Harrow last night in it's most recent reincarnation. The staff seemed friendly and efficient. The menu is the usual family pub affair, consisting of the old favourites, proporting to be homemade. We had as starters, pate and relish with toast, and prawn cocktail, both were tasty, however it was slightly underwhelming and would have benefited from toast that was not from a sliced loaf. We continued with gammon steak with hand cut chips, these were very thinly sliced, and I was sceptical, however they were excellent, and a change from usual presentation.I chose the cod and chips, accompanied by mushy peas and hand cut chips, I was disappointed by the cod, it was of small portion and appeared not to be hand processed, it did present as being something one could purchase from frozen food specialists. I often have fish and chips from other establishments, and this was frankly underwhelming.

Terrible service. Food came late, kids meals were only just warm, so I had to microwave them! Chicken shish was stone cold as was the chicken wrap. Called to try and sort it out, was offered 20% off my next meal. When I asked if I could have 20% back now in stead as this doesn't help me feed my family tonight, I was told the manager was too busy to deal with it right now and that I needed to call back in half an hour.
