What a lovely pub! Went for Sunday lunch with the family and the roasts were delicious! Very friendly staff had a lovely day. Great decor inside would definitely recommend.

Had mother's Day meal with my fiancee and her 2 daughters and a friend was lovely food and great atmosphere well worth the money, had a roast dinner and ice cream, brownie great service, great boss, had a mothers day present from the boss

Popped in here for food and drinks. great atmosphere with friendly welcoming staff. The food was cooked very well and very tasty with very good size portions. Would definitely recommend trying this nice pub 👍

The reason we come back more and more is because of the happy and safe environment. Very busy the day we went for lunch so we waited a fair while which was understandable. Both our meals were, unfortunately, pretty awful. A bad day at the office.

I've always used the plough always been good food at great prices but unfortunately my recent experience I won't be in any hurry to go back I ordered a crazy chicken bacon burger it said a crispy coated chicken burger where I thought it would be plain battered or breaded chicken it was southern fried I asked the young girl who was on her own behind the bar looking flustered if the pulled chicken breast was plain she didn't no and made no attempt to find out for me I admittedly said I would take the chance as the menu didn't state it was seasoned etc but it was I most importantly asked for the burger plain with no salad or mayonnaise etc I received it with loads on it I couldn't eat it they took it away made no attempt in keeping the chips hot when cooking another burger so they were cold second time around I was embarrassed the first time too complain I didn't want to make a scene for a second time.. my partner had chichen tikka was a small helping looked like a child's meal when the staff collected plates etc no interaction didn't ask how our meal was no manners very poor show

I used to love this restaurant, but unfortunately, the quality has declined. The food isn’t what it used to be, and the service has become unprofessional. During our visit, my aunt ordered a bottle of wine and said she only wanted a glass as she was the only one drinking it. The waiter responded with an expletive, which we found extremely rude. Additionally, we were brought the wrong food, and instead of resolving the issue politely, the staff were dismissive and impatient with us as we didn’t recognisethe food. The biggest issue, however, was a dispute over our deposit. The team leader was unprofessional, unsympathetic, and placed the blame on us rather than acknowledging the restaurant’s lack of clear communication. Given how poorly we were treated, I won’t be returning and, unfortunately, can’t recommend this place to others.

Great location next to Eastern Counties bus station and a short walk to shopping area. Food was very nice and a good price, we ate from the sharing platter and drinks reasonably priced. Toilets clean . I can imagine it would get very busy weekend evenings, we were there weekday lunchtime and even then it was quite busy

Had a great afternoon with my friend, staff always friendly and helpful. I haven't tried the food yet but it all looked great as it came out the kitchen. Great atmosphere in there with all sorts of people enjoying themselves.

I've always liked this pub.it can get quite busy but you never feel ignored. To get a 5 star rating they would have to install a music quiz machine or have a music quiz night.

The plough is a great pub we stayed in Ipswich for the weekend of the Ipswich v Leicester game and visited the pub on several occasions we also had food a couple of times and that was excellent especially the Sunday dinner the staff were very good and friendly five stars all round

The food was amazing and the service was even better! Martyna made us all feel really welcomed! Thank you for going the extra mile and checking on us!

Excellent food, great quality and value for money

Went with my husband for a meal, good old fashion proper pub. My husband is a very fussy eater, but we both loved our meal. For sure the chefs in there know how to cook a steak. Good prices for 2 meals and a couple of pints, friendly bar staff, we will definitely come back.

The pub is always busy.Good value beer. Food is quite basic but ok for a quick meal. Staff very friendly.

I visited the plough on 6/9/2024 with a friend for lunch we found a nice window seat the staff were very friendly the food was superb and came quickly 😀 we would highly recommend this pub the serving staff a young lady was nice and friendly also

Came in last night for some food, glad we stopped by the plough as they had a great section of food, and TVs to watch while we ate, Arron at the bar was very helpful with any questions we asked Highly recommend!!!!

Sunday, 4th August c. 19.20. Lousy. Rude, surly barmaid with glasses and long hair tied back, who couldn't be bothered to respond to our polite greetings. She then barked something at us about insisting that we pay at the till first - as if we were going to ask her to pull pints and do a runner. We left and headed to the Shamrock instead, where they pull pints before you settle up, as per normal. We are locals and won't be back due to this mistrustful miserable barmaid. There are plenty of decent pubs in Ipswich with pleasant staff. A little bit of professional courtesy doesn't cost anyone anything.

One of the oldest and best in the town. Good food quality and service with very nice atmosphere. They have also started Order from the Table / App which is really nice. For the beer lovers - go for the Tower !

Ordinary pub in an old house in the city centre. Nicely decorated. Reasonably prices. Good variety of beers. Average pub menu. The dish I had was eatable. Good coffee and nice staff.

Myself and a friend had a burger and dessert each. The burger was nicely cooked and tasted nice. I had sticky toffe pudding which was a bit dry and had no toffe sauce on it, but it was only £3.49. The server we had was poilte and made us feel welcome.

Extremely odd experience as lady in glasses behind bar barked at me to go back and close the entrance door as it had got stuck as it closed. No idea how this was my fault if the door does not close properly. I was by myself so to be shouted at was not very pleasant, not to mention embarrassing.

Went on a Tuesday afternoon with a friend. Had 7 pound meals for January which was excellent value for money. I had lasagne and my friend beef burger and was evidently home cooked and delicious. Would definitely recommend for locals or visitors.

Wir waren zum Fußball in Ipswich, und wollten vorher was leckeres essen. Da sind wir auf The Plough gestoßen. Es ist ein typischer gemütlicher englischer Pub. Gegessen haben wir das Englische Nationalgericht Fish& Chips. Der Fisch war klasse gebraten, die Pommes schön kross, und was ich bisher nicht kannte das waren die pürierten Erbsen. Die aber sehr lecker waren. Ich kann den Pub mit gutem Gewissen empfehlen.

A buzzing, busy city-centre boozer vibe for my Saturday evening drop-in beer-only visit.. Friendly, abundant staff kept the bar ticking over and wait times were way better than expected on a matchday. Bouncers point towards potential for a fracas as time wears on.

Had an absolutely brilliant Christmas meal with friends at the Plough in Ipswich in December. The table was presented with hats and crackers, the staff were happy and attentive, the food was great, as were the drinks. Thank you!

We went to The Plough for our Xmas day lunch. It was our first visit but the reviews had looked good. We honestly couldn't fault it in any way at all. The food was great both in quantity and quality. The staff could not be more friendly. We will definitely return.

I've known the owner for a long time well over 10 years and he has been a really nice guy in this time and visited the plough many times through the years. Yesterday we popped in for the first half of the Ipswich game as my boy wanted to see it and to break up Xmas shopping. As a family I ordered drinks from the bar we wasn't going to have lunch but it was that time I already bought a couple of pieces of chicken. Before deciding and going into the pub which was going to be my lunch at some point anyway me my wife son and 6yr old daughter my wife/ daughter wanted to eat so. They ordered from the menu I went and purchased the food at the bar then went back to the table I then thought I will have some of the chicken I previously purchased. The food arrived and the waitress said you can't bring in food that's not been purchased in house I said ok sorry I know for the future all was ok. Literally finished the last tiny bit of my chicken the owner came up to the table within 20/30 seconds saying LOUDLY!!! I was disrespecting the waitress and I was taking the piss!!! Bearing in mind I had my 2 small children with me. This was uncalled for I do understand that I ate abit of chicken (NOT EXACTLY A 3 COURSE MEAL). However I had purchased a meal and a round of drinks at the bar so as for taking the piss ok but to handle it like that raising his voice in front of my wife and kids basically like we was scum was absolutely unacceptable. To be honest I'm truly disappointed with this if it was all said in a quiet word it would have been no problem as I would have totally understood it's a true shame cause. I've had some good times and spent alot of money over the years at the plough. This experience has left me massively disappointed there was no need for it to be handled in that type of manor. Owner replied and basically said what I did at the end of my review write up it's true to say he has unfortunately changed.

We have been coming in here for over 20 years. Today (Christmas Eve) was one of those rare occasions that we stopped to eat. The service was super quick and the food was really delicious. My husband and I both had the bacon cheese burger. It was so juicy and the bacon just the right amount of crispiness. Fabulous as always

I recently visited this pub and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was lively, and the staff, especially Mel and Michelle, were outstanding. Their exceptional service and friendly demeanor added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.

£8.50 and when I mentioned the measly portion of chips to the waitress she just laughed.

We always visit here when In Town and always enjoy a few drinks. It's always a pleasant atmosphere,quick,friendly service no matter how rammed it might be. Drinks are reasonably priced,and they have a good choice of Beers on Tap. They have plenty of sport on the various screens as well.

Difficult to rate as was a football night, so was proper rammed, as was the pub 😀

We loved the time we were there. The staff were very friendly and helpful.It made the day go along nicely we were on. our way to the theatre to see a show we love to see again.( Anything For Love) We've been in here before and loved it so came back again.
