I’ve visited a lot of pubs in my time, but I’ve never had a welcome quite like the one we received from Anna this morning. There was absolutely no doubt about how pleased she was to see us. The whole pub is beautifully designed and kept, obviously by a team of people completely in love with what they’re doing. It was only a short visit for a business meeting and the strongest thing we sank were a couple of very good coffees. But I’ll definitely be back for a long lunch or an even longer evening session. Maybe even both.

Just moved to the area and this is by the best local pub we've been to so far... Really good roast for a great price, nice decor and very friendly staff who weren't too much. Will definitely go back!

Fantastic !!! We came in on a Saturday afternoon for a quick drink and saw the food being served looked good so we returned on the Sunday, So glad we did! Great ending to a lovely weekend for us. We ordered two of the platform 1 burgers with some additional peppercorn sauce. Compliments to the chefs as the food was great !! Clearly homemade and very fresh. The staff are all very smart with nice uniform and appear to be confidant on the bar which is always as plus! The pub has a nice atmosphere and is very clean. Well done to whoever has taken this place over recently ! : - D

We have been looking for a local pub in our area for months and Platform One is now our FAVOURITE watering hole. Reasons for this are - the staff go above and beyond to cater to all of your needs. They are friendly, warm and welcoming. The food is second to none and we are now regulars. They allow dogs which is an added bonus as we hate to leave our little sausage at home. The landlady is an undeniable asset to the establishment. They have a fortnightly quiz night which is fun and is catered to all abilities. If you want a bit more of lively setting then Friday nights are fantastic as they often have performances from local singers which sets a fantastic vibe. I cannot recommend Platform One enough.

We absolutely love platform one and have come in as a couple for quiz night, and with friends on a Friday night for the live music. The staff are lovely, super friendly and always putting on lots of entertainment. The pub quiz on a Wednesday is brilliant and the Friday night live music is even better. Cosy pub with a great atmosphere and gorgeous food!

Real beer selection was rubbish only 2 and one of those when served was cloudy and undrinkable. No replacement offered

First time visiting platform 1 with my elderly parents for Sunday lunch. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and caring. The food was absolutely scrumptious, 4 completely empty plates it was sooooo good. We will definitely be coming here again

We had booked a large party and had to pre order our food for the kitchen. We was part of an event and only had a certain amount of time before we had to be back. A few days before we rang and spoke to the supervisor K***y who confirmed that we could move our reservation from 3:30 to 3pm. Once seated we waited an hour for food to arrive. After several conversations with staff that we needed to be back for 4:30 and all food was preordered we kept getting similar responses of plating up now, I’ll go check with the kitchen. Once the food began to arrive at 4:10pm it looked rushed and several dishes were burnt and one child’s meal had not been made. My Yorkshire pudding tasted like just batter, roast potato had no potato in it. We left very upset and disappointed wouldn’t recommend with group bookings.

Very nice and welcoming pub/restaurant. Staff made us feel very welcome and we were looked after throughout our visit. The food was amazing, definitely had that homemade taste and appearance. Would highly recommend and if in the area again I would re-visit

Visited Platform One today for lunch. We ordered homemade cheese pie and scampi and after a very long wait our meals eventually arrived. The cheese pie pastry was disgusting, nothing like the shortcrust pastry I expected. Half of it was like concrete. I sent it back; the replacement was not much better. I ate only the cheese. On paying the bill we were asked was ‘everything ok’, I replied ‘no’. The bill was for full payment and I did mention ‘were they not going to knock a bit off?’ … no such luck. I should have paid what I thought the meal was worth! The staff were very pleasant. A very disappointing first time visit to Platform One as newcomers to Romiley.

We went here whilst visiting friends who live nearby.Very friendly staff, good selection of drinks and home cooked food, what more can you ask for. Great value, even without the Eat Out to Help Out discount, and good portion sizes. If i lived locally i would definitely return on a regular basis.

This was our first meal out in a while. We ate upstairs. Great service by the person taking our order and serving our meal. A smaller menu than usual. I had sticky bbq pork ribs, loads of ribs which were very tasty. Great chips and coleslaw. Great real ale including a great titanic plum porter. My wife loved her burger and sweet potato chips. We ate upstairs. You can also eat downstairs. They do a good range of real ales. A brilliant pub.

If you have never been you should give it a try they cater for everyone nothing is too much they will ensure you have a great meal and will want to return.

Went out with a few friends and I had not been in Platform 1 before, I found the staff to be friendly and the manager came over for a chat. The beer was good and there was a good atmosphere, will visit again. Paul C

I was one of a group of twelve mature men who sought to enjoy a pre Christmas get together and lunch. Our meals were chosen before the day of the visit and passed to Platform One by our organiser.There was a pleasing variety of choice for our three courses.I chose the salmon for my main dish and enjoyed it.The quality of food and preparation and serving was very good and no known complaints.

Great location, fabulous service and excellent meals. Couldn’t believe how reasonable the food is. You won’t go wrong stopping for lunch here

14 of us had a meal here on Saturday, the food was beautiful the service was excellent and the price was great value for money, we will be going back to platform one on a regular basis really enjoyed it and would recommend, really really good,

Food was good but service was really bad from the manager the two servers were lovely but they had overbooked and we felt we were rather bullied from the moment we arrived we were a party of 15 and from all over Europe it was our chance to be together before xmas and it was spoiled:( We were told to order food before we sat down then when we were going to order desserts we were told there would be a 45 minute wait which was really unfair . Shame as we are regulars and unfortunately they have lost our custom all due to the lack of managerial skills from the manager.

We visited Platform One for the first time last night. It definitely wont be long before we return. The food was first class, we absolutely loved it. I had the Rag Pudding with chips, mushy peas and gravy. A very welcome large portion. My partner had a Steak Burger with fried onions, blue cheese, chips and coleslaw. Another large portion which she said was delicious. The pub was busy but the service was very quick and served by very pleasant staff. The menu is so extensive and inventive, it took us a while to decide what to order. Well done Platform One, we were impressed. See you again soon.

We have only visited here once about three years ago and decided to take our two friends for lunch to celebrate our Golden Wedding and my 70th birthday. We couldn’t have chosen anywhere better. We chose to eat upstairs and had the whole room to ourselves. We were asked what kind of music we would like them to play and asked for the sixties, our era. We were looked after fantastically and all our needs were met by the two wonderful ladies on duty, Kelly and Malou, who were so friendly and we felt that they were genuinely interested in us and made our celebrations so much more special. The four of us chose from the Senior Citizens menu, which had so many different choices in each course. We were so spoilt for choice but all of us were extremely pleased with our meals. We had all fully intended going for the three courses but were so full after two that we just had a coffee each. We even saw the chef, a nice man, and were able to thank him personally for his delicious, well cooked & presented food.

We had my parents 50th wedding anniversary meal here there was 30 of us and we couldn't ask for more, the staff was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble, the food was fantastic and really good value and very large portions can't wait to return again thank you so much ❤❤

Came here on Sunday, we were hoping to sit upstairs as heard good reviews about the restaurant but were told it was hired out. However a lovely waitress who had brown hair made us feel very welcome and offered to wait on us downstairs. The food was very nice and the service was excellent. Will definitely be visiting again.

We had been in several times for a drink but not for food - we went in for food a few weeks ago and were not disappointed. The Server Rachel was lovely - very helpful and friendly - the liver and bacon was extremely good and I would recommend it. My husband had the curry which came with rice, Nan and poppadoms so he was happy also!

Popped in for a pint with a mate. Great pint of real ale, friendly service and nice decoration. Do a great range of meals.

7 of us visited here today for my mums 92 nd birthday,lovely piping hot food ,reasonably priced and excellent service by a very friendly waitress .would definitely recommend.

Five of us visited the delightful Platform One last Friday.

I visit this place regularly, once every 2 months. I would usually place it at the 4 star level, based on the price. But, the last trip pushes it down to a 3. On the last visit, the portion was unusually small, but, the quality was fine. To put it in context, it was a pensioner's special, so, smaller portions are to be expected. No problem with that.

Have been here many times over the years having lived in the area all my life. Don't know if it has changed management but I think it has as the food was awful, the staff waiting on the table were rude and totally disinterested,and to be expected to pay £20 for a steak and pepper corn sauce is a joke. It's a pub not a top restaurant! All in all very disappointed as we use to love going here, but will not be visiting again. Usually always gave 5 stars but lucky to get one.

Would recommend the food and the pub, landlady and staff are welcoming. Would probably only go in during the day or early evening as later it seemed to turn into youth club, packed with young people who some look under age. We have been in previously quite a few times and not seen this, so it’s such a shame when it could be a nice family place to go. There are very few places that have such nice food in Romiley so again a shame.

It had been a long time since we had been to this place for a meal. We opted to eat in the upstairs dinning room, although we could have eaten in the pub downstairs. The menu consists of a wide range of traditional english pub classic;s, and burgers and other assorted meals.

Mid afternoon on way back from a shopping trip in Stockport we stopped originally at the Duke of York but were informed that they weren't serving meals until 5:00pm so drove a little further to Platform One, and were pleased we did.

Being ladies of a certain age we all had the midweek special, excellent value for money & the food was lovely. All washed down with a couple of bottles of house wine, which was also on offer. I think this could become a habit!

Just organised a meal for 22 people here for my daughters 21st, they put us in the upstairs restaurant which was a perfect space for us to relax and chat. The food was perfect and all the plates went back empty, good quality traditional pub food, no complaints. The staff were awesome from the planning stage until we left on the night, nothing was too much trouble, super friendly and helpful. I can’t recognise this place enough, thank you for a fabulous memory.

Visited here for a birthday treat there young lady serving us was excellent and very attentive. The food we ordered came quickly and was very hot and tasty.

I recently had a meal here and it was exceptional. The chunky chips are to die for, service is great and prices are reasonable. It is clean and friendly and certainly worth a visit.

Together with ten other friends/ family we had a lovely meal. Great service from Rachel in particular who really looked after us all and Nieve who was also lovely. Nice new menu and great food quality at reasonable prices. Well done. We will return.

Good food excellent service and staff well worth a visit for a cosy atmosphere and a good time near the train station in romiley village

The place is ok, I ordered a coffee but they only had cows milk, no soya, almond, oat, coconut just cows milk.

First few times we visited Platform One we thoroughly enjoyed the food but then they had a change of chef. The standard went right down and presentation was totally absent! Front of house staff couldn’t be faulted and were put in difficult position.

Excellant food staff really helpful would certainly eat there again, very good selection on menu, friendly atmosphere, great for night out, close to train station, great location

This local Family run Pub/ Restaurant is of a very high standard in all ways.

Never again. I never leave reviews normally but THIS place and its owners deserve a moment of my time if it stops other people ever considering giving this business a penny of their money. The food was barely warm, and soggy, both mine and the two friends I was with, one had the chicken salad. Which I could have made myself for about a £1.00, I had fish and chips, which was soggy and mushy in the middle, and my other friend had the “homemade” curry! (NOT) it was clearly a jar of sauce with a little added extra, as he found a hair in it. When we complained, our meals were reheated (not replaced) which added to the soggy! Ummmm lovely! And the curry was replaced. (From the jar again) but luckily no hair this time. When we did make the complaint, the restaurant and pub was too cold and as we were seated next to the smoking door (and toilets) the aroma surrounding us whilst we dined was also adding to the ambience. One of the staff was very polite and friendly, although the manager I presume (or owner not sure) was foul mouthed and spent the entirety of our meal on her phone and talking inappropriately to the 2 men stood at the bar! From the outside this place looks welcoming and charming! And the decor is also very deceiving! Do not be fooled!!!??? Go elsewhere and don’t have your evening challenged as we did! Luckily enough tequila went down after our disappointment (in another lovely pub down the road) to make us forget the events that started our evening! Don’t make the same mistake!

The lovely Janice and her staff facilitated my brothers funeral recently which only seemed fitting given this is where he drank and the bar staff had always looked after him and made him feel welcome. This was a large party of people and the food was great. The bar staff were polite and worked really hard and they even shared many stories about my Brother which was heart warming to hear. The co operation from Janice and her ability to meet our demands went above and beyond. Thank you to Janice and all the staff at P1 :-)

Great plaice to eat prices to higher end of scale but well worth a visit would go in depending what time of day & evening

Myself and five friends had lunch here last week. Lovely food, reasonable price and staff were very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

We had lunch on Saturday and we enjoyed the food. Good sausage and mash and the home made curry was excellent. Bar staff and waitress were friendly and efficient. We will definitely return.

We go there for our quiz night on Wednesdays, its friendly staff, good location, easy to get to, good atmosphere

Came in yesterday as a group of 5. would like to mention that we all enjoyed our time there. Staff were all very pleasant. Food was absolutely fantastic and very reasonably priced. the best part was when the Chef called Ash made me a vegan meal of beetroot and quinoa burger with salad. especially, as I couldn't find any vegan meals on the menu. so thanks for that. everyone devoured their food as it was so tasty. we didn't wait long either.

First time here and place is lovely, although parking can be awkward. Went for lunch with family. Meals were generally good, ribs were lovely, rag pie was also very nice, only mark down was for the chilli which was very dry and not much taste. Would go again, good value food and pleasant atmosphere.

We hadn’t ate at Platform One for a while, so up on returning we was very happy to see that their excellent service and food had not changed. We got served quickly and the staff who took our order and served us were friendly, conversational and the food came out quickly and the staff asked how our food was when eating. Even at the end of our meal when we had a bit of trouble with splitting our bill the staff were kind and dealt with it patiently.

Second time that we visit this great and family place in Romiley, food choices, beer types and the service are supreme, definitely recommended for an intimate afternoon and or evening!

Yesterday four of us went for a meal in this delightful local pub, We decided to eat in the bar area, rather than the upstairs restaurant.

Moved to the area recently and been here a few times as we've got to know the area. The food is simple tasty and decent value. Greta to have a reliable pub on our door-step for a quick bite out.

New management and new staff! However, it seems that Greene King must actively encourage their staff to take tips even when not offered, this happens in the pub all the time.

Clean, welcoming and good value for well prepared and well presented basic pub grub! Weekend evenings tend to be busy as it is so popular! A good variety of ales usually available along with lagers! Recently redecorated but done tastefully!

We went in the romiley last week for a family meal having heard great things and it didnt dissapoint. Friendly and fast service, landlady was very helpful and the male barstaff was funny and both provided excellent service. Food was perfect, will definitely come again
