Plas Coch in Wrexham

We took the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor seating area now that some welcomed sun had arrived. We ordered some food. The waiting time was not too long it was probably one of the main times I can ever recall where I've not said "what's taking so long" I thought the food prices were reasonable. The menu options were quite varied which was nice to see. The food tasted excellent. In terms of negative feedback. I do think the soft drinks were pretty expensive for just a pint of Pepsi and the cost of a J2O for the size of the bottle was unjustified for sure. I did not recall seeing any forms of Sunday dinners on the menu. But I was curious if it was because we had attended during the week and the menu for Sunday roasts is only available at weekends. Or perhaps they don't do Sunday roasts aswell which based on the food taste yesterday I'm sure would have been great. IF however Sunday roasts is available either during the week or weekends I found no trace of advertising of any such meals. So that's a downside. (Just an update) = Just been back on the website to check the menu and there is a roasts section and I am 100% certain that was not there yesterday because me and my friend both fancied one and didn't find that section. One final drawback which isn't anyones fault sadly is that whilst we was eating the road traffic was pretty backed up and all the car fumes were ruining the relaxation of outside and unfortunately did taste it whilst eating at times. But since we ate outside and it was sunny it's unavoidable but unfortunate. What I'd love to see in the future is perhaps a Toby Carvery still menu even if it's only perhaps once or twice a month. Since our nearest Toby Carvery is the other side of Chester. For Plas Coch to capitalise on the need for such a menu and the lovely skills of the chef I have no doubt at all the profitability of this would be welcomed by all. One thing I think would be good. Since outdoor menus are troublesome with either blowing away or not worth using on days when the weather is no good. I think having a special bulletin board near the red dragon statue would be great for customers to be able to read a full menu whenever they wanted. I also think it's sometimes easier to read a menu on first glance rather than using the website to order.

Come here today at 3pm and was told Sunday dinner's had run out! It's 3 pm on a sunday afternoon and no Sunday dinner's?? Very poor in my opinion. Waiting time was bad as waited 50 mins before food arrived, we had 2 drinks each before meal came. No Guinness available. Ordered steak and it was the worst steak I've ever had, it was awfully chewy. Garlic bread was burnt and had a southern fried chicken burger which was meant to come with chicken gravy but came with beef gravy, service was slow and it was not even busy. Very disappointed and won't be returning in the near future.

It was the second time I ordered steak and the quality of the meat is inferior.

Very same same food not amazing service was poor we asked for the children's garlic bread to come first and they only sent one ,then everybody's food came and the other child's garlic bread still hadn't appeared so asked again , then had to ask a 3rd time different member of staff it came just before our deserts don't get me going on that overpriced mess ... I shall not return.

Great welcome at door. Registered my car so no penalty fees. Quickly shown to table and served immediately. It was a busy night with the football on at Cae Ras but staff still took the time to chat. Drinks were very good value.

Much like another review here, I didn’t spot the small signs re registering your car details inside the pub to use the EV charging points. Unfortunately I wasn’t lucky enough to be warned by a passer by and have been fined £100. I am in the process of appealing, but it’s looking unlikely it will be overturned. I appreciate that you wish to protect paying customers, although I actually thought the pub was closed as the car park was empty, and I was in fact paying to use the charger. If you’re going to take this approach it would be helpful to make this clear at the actual charging points. I’ve never had to pay or register at a car park to then pay to use the charging point before.

Atmosphere is family orientated and has a friendly feel. Food is always lovely and fresh and best of all hot ! Staff are helpful and pleasant.

Ordered Hunters Chicken costing £12.99. Absolutely shocking plate of food. Shame on Chef for sending it out. Took absolutely forever to arrive too. Plate of food over priced by at least £5.00. No cheese, chicken breast was luke warm and bbq sauce was minimal.

I had the burger and it wasn't nice. I don't recommend

Lovely food - pizzas took a little whack le to arrive (after other food).

We booked a table for 10, but were spread over 4 tables. This limited general conversation for the whole group. We asked if someone could take the order for the whole group but were forced to go to the bar individually to order food and drink and pay. This was inconvenient due to various disabilities within the group. This was planned to be a regular monthly event, but are now looking for an alternative venue

Another lovely visit, staff friendly and welcoming, food was gorgeous, I had the fish and chips, my husband beef lasagne food was hot and cooked lovely, our waitress chatty and helpful.

4 of us decided to go for a meal and a couple of drinks last Saturday evening & after announcing our arrival we asked if we could leave our cars in the carpark so we could have a couple of drinks. We were told that we couldn't & we would receive a fine if left. There were 5 cars in the car park!! I could understand if there was a football match playing but nothing was going on. We ate our food with a soft drink each & left.

Good food and service at a reasonable price

Nice pub/restaurant with a chilled atmosphere and pleasant ambiance! Drinks are expensive and signing up to the WiFi was a nightmare so I failed in the end - it wanted my DOB but could only enter it on a calendar and being over 50 years old I wasn't swiping right over 600 times! Great to be able to charge your car while having a drink though and not paying to park as you have to do in the rest of Wrexham's higher powered chargers! Nice offers on the food though! Themed by day offers (ie all day Wednesday Curry and a pint for £12.99) and keenly priced lunch meals!

Always feel welcome at the Plas Coch, the staff are lovely and the food is always good. We have had a few meals with larger parties for birthdays here too.

A member of staff helped me sort out a parking fine I’d got due to using the electric charging point. The person I spoke to was extremely helpful and kind. Thanks so much. Just remember to input your reg in the pub if using the EV charging point.

Table booked via telephone system which had better availability, warm welcome and promptly taken to our table, easy and prompt service via the QR code table ordering app. All our food was hot, nicely presented and very tasty.

We booked a pre football meal and got good service, nice food in convenient surroundings. Not haute cuisine but good food, just what we wanted.

The heating was turned down or wasn't working and it was necessary to wear a thick coat to keep warm. Even the server said she was freezing. The staff were friendly, efficient, and the food was ok. Wouldn't go again until heating problems fixed.

Very nice food good pint of Guinness all at a reasonable price. The second visit was as good as the first. The mixed grill was spot on, and there was plenty of it.

Staff and food were equally delightful. Enjoyed sharing a bit of football banter with the staff and the food was probably one of the best meals we've ever had travelling the country following our team.

Great food, great prices, friendly staff, great restaurant-pub overall

Stopped in with the family for tea as we were in the area and we were all really impressed by the food and service. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. I would definitely go there again next time we’re in the area! The toilets were also really clean and looked after, which says a lot about a place. Plenty of parking and I would highly recommended to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in the area. I think there may also have been an outside area for kids to play in but it was dark when we went and I only saw this as we drove out

Decent drinks and nice staff. The food is pub grub but decent enough and a fair price.

It was a meal for my sons 18th. I had booked for 12 of us and 15 turned up but was no problem for the staff. The cake was brought out with candles lit at the appropriate time and nothing was too much bother. Everyone loved all their food which is amazing with my very picky family. I can't think the staff enough!!

Very disappointed in the visit . Food cold and overcooked. Freezing cold inside .. staff member said it was the vents blowing cold in from outside . Felt rushed .... Table booked for 7.30 but was told kitchens closed 8pm

Came here yesterday morning, Monday 30th December at 11am . I popped here for some early lunch on a date , we both enjoyed the food and felt very welcome during our visit. Very friendly team an absolute credit to have warm welcome and great food, definitely be back soon , happy new years to everyone who works at the pub /restaurant

It just all seems "average". I had bangers and mash and the gravy seemed watery, the mash was nice and the sausages just didn't feel or toast nice at all. It had those scorched marks on it (which I'm fully away is part of the cooking process). But they tasted like they were burned on and I could taste the burn. The children's spaghetti was weak and though I'm sure it was reheated, this didn't come out well it at all. The buss Ness didn't bother us at all, the waiting time didn't bother us and even having to push with the baby to use the bathroom, didn't bother us. We'd gone on a match day, so all of that is on us and our choice. The start were really nice and friendly, they were trying thier best with the tools they were given and they smiled throughout and was always polite. If you look at the chain of pubs "The Lounge" you'll see that big formulaic chains can be of high standard and make good choices. Plas Coch feels about 10 years behind society as far as pubs go and as I only go in these places for food, I don't think I'll be back at this one again.

Great local pub for variety of meals including pizza bar. Always clean and tidy. Staff smiling and helpful when needed. Food was hot and tasty as always.

We visit here often because the service is good the food always satisfactory. The staff are attentive and a delight to interact with - we always have a laugh and do enjoy our visits.

Me and my friend went today, we had our drink brought by somebody who doesn’t even work there and it took 2 hours for our food to arrive and all the tables around us had been and gone. We asked for our order to be cancelled so they said they will bring it straight out when it’s ready rather than cancel it like we asked. When it arrived the cheese wasn’t even melted on the burger, we ordered a bacon cheeseburger and looked down in disbelief as we seen the one pathetic slither of bacon on our burgers. We both ate 2 bites and decided to spare our stomachs the burden of the rest of it. Our server didn’t come up to us to ask us how our food was probably deterred by the complaints we’d already made yet went over to the next table to ask them. We just decided to leave in the end. When we arrived home my stomach felt so tight and I had to run to the bathroom to throw up, my friend felt sick for the rest of the night.

Very disappointed with the overall experience. Firstly I ordered pigs in blankets and at £5.99 I expected more than 5! and something that resembled the picture/ description rather than chipolatas in tiny, burnt bacon bits. My main order was Hunters Chicken, the chips were good to be honest but the main part of the order was the chicken and that was very disappointing, a chicken breast with a BBQ sauce drizzled over the top isn’t hunters chicken according to the description. No bacon on it and no cheese.

Lovely food and service as usual. Gluten free menu has a good choice and the team are very helpful with allergens. Highly recommended :)

Lovely staff. I wanted to try the new lunchtime menu with the baguettes, they only offer it Monday-Friday which is very disappointing, I wish they offered it at the weekends as it was tasty and I can't usually go in the week as my husband works full-time, we only got to go this time because it was the Bank Holiday.

I'm a client for a long time in this pub but I've noticed this 2 last times the food comes very cold and not good taste I am really disappointed 😔 with the service in the bar too.☹️

Came in today, only given a 2 star because the of 2 women were polite (the lady on front of house and the lady actually serving food) Asked the lady on the bar if they had a sugary drink, as a member of our party was having a diabetic episode, her bloods had dropped, made us wait even after explaining as “she’s in the middle of serving someone on the till” the lady she was serving had popped back to her table. As someone who’s previously worked in a Marston’s, I know the spec and what was served today was not that. 10th dec

Food ok worst then normal missing stuff off plate , girl who served food was the most miserable person iv ever met , young girl long dark hair, I said stuff missing off plate, said oh and walk off , I was gob smacked , then another girl came 10 mins later to ask how food was before I said no she walked off , really really bad service shame as we come regularly and pay over £50 a time 9th December 2024 6pm

Room was cold, so was the water in the ladies toilet. Food was mediocre Top of bun on burger was burnt. Not a very nice experience when you have taken someone there for their birthday. Couldn’t wait to get out of there, it was warmer outside

We always book a table on match days and even though it's extremely busy the service is spot on . Had an issue where my card charged me twice but they sorted it straight away . The food is lush too and quite often we visit for food that is not on match days . If I had one quibble it would be more bar staff on a match day

The atmosphere was pleasant and not over done so you still felt like you were there to have food and chat and chill, we ordered through a Qr code which I prefer sometimes because you get to fully customise what you want and my girlfriend added a note to their Mac and cheese and it came out perfectly. Waitress came to check up on us mid way through our meal to make sure everything was ok which was pleasant. No complaints and all smiles on the way home.

Unfortunately a recurring problem with this chain of serving a meat pie to a vegetarian. This is the second time in two different restaurants this has happened. Staff however were polite and resolved quickly.

Portion sizes were terrible staff were rude and Not polite. When you deliver food to the table and you say thank you, they don’t acknowledge you. It feels like the staff do not want to work there at all.. When the food arrived, half of it was missing or they didn’t have Ingredients which was not said when ordered. Portion sizes were very much lacking compared to photos. And when arrived, food was burnt, and greasy. I am not coming back again

Very polite and helpful lovely warm food

Booked a family of 9 for a birthday. When we got there we was told there was no meat steaks gammon eg. As it was a large order i wrote it down what everyone wanted so went to order at the till ordered drinks first then ordered the food everything was fine till the food came i odered a meatfeat pizza and pepperoni pizza came, and the adult pizza is the same size as the child pizza. Ordered a ultimate beef burger and chicken burger came so waited 20 mins for them to bring the correct burger but by then the party had nealy finished their food And also ordered a thai prawn curry but they had no prawns so had only exrta veg instead. this is supposed to be a restauant there is no excuse as i booked 3 days in advance . THEY BETTER GET THAIR ACT TOGETHER. Not going again

Food was bog standard cheap and cheerful. Kids pasta sauce was very watery. Sausages on mix grill were mushy inside. Starters came quick. Loaded fries looked like they were from farmfoods across the road. Waited ages after finishing starters for mains, despite being asked by 2 different servers if we want our mains yes. Replying yes please too both. Kitchen door closer was broken so a loud bang every 10seconds, sitting near too this we left with headache

On arrival greeting was lacking not very welcoming . Didn’t really get told how to order or where to order. Drinks were missing from order and some of the cokes were watery not very pleasent. Food items largely unavailable and when food arrived their was orders wrong , incorrect or missing food items or is getting told when waiting that there menu items not available to chose something else ,
