Great place to go for a liquid lunch that turned into drinks a meal and a great time making new friends and playing pool. Staff are awesome polite and very helpful. Wish I'd lived closer so i could call the plainsman my local.

Great pub for a pint with plenty of outdoor seating, small car park. Good venue for watching sports and good selection of beers, although they had run out of my favourite Ice Breaker this evening. Regularly visit this pub for a pint and the service is always friendly.

Often pop in, well priced and staff are sound. Only downside for me is when the football's on it's not a nice place to be, but I get why.

Always a pleasure to be served by Lisa. Haven't been for a while but as good as ever and glad to see Lisa is still behind the bar, always a pleasure. Another regular visit. Regular return visit, food is always good. Second visit this week. First time with a group of six for an excellent hearty mid-morning breakfast. But today for a scrummy lunch with friends. Didn't eat in there so can't review the food not been plainsman in a long time as from other side of Nottingham but really nice to step foot in there again the fellow that served me a coffee made me feel most welcome will go again .

Lovely pub, first started coming here about a year ago and haven’t stopped since! The bar staff are all friendly and kind, particular standouts being Nicole and Sarah who usually tend to be working when I visit. Very efficient service and the beers always great. On the occasion I have food here it comes out quickly and tastes fantastic, would recommend to anybody 👍

Trialled the New Katsu chicken burger and sweet chilli wrap absolutely delicious. Cooked lovely 5☆ . Service 5☆ staff pleasant. Standard menu throughout all Greene King pubs. It wasn't the best service, to be honest, and the food could have been warmer. Don't think I'll bother again. Good pub for evening drinks, but not so much for meals in the day.

Asked for a table close to the act , I got the table the furthest away right next to the toilet and a bunch of loud gobby sport watching men . we ordered food as a starter and main but it all came together so we felt rushed .. the drag act was good and will go again for that but wont be booking a table or food ..

I wanted to give a shout out for some outstanding service received today from Viktoria. I’ll be honest, I expected a reply of a couple of words at most when I enquired did they do a light lunch? Victoria took the time to explain the Plainsman’s full offer, the menu’s available and the mix and match meal deal, senior menu etc etc. She was thorough, yet clear and very concise. Her helpful reply enabled me to make a fast decision which expedited my visit when I didn’t have a lot of time. Thank you Viktoria - you’re a real asset to the Plainsman

Went for a family meal last night. The meals were lovely, great prices. Had a nice evening, even had live music (open mic night). We will definitely be revisiting !!

Saturday lunch. Awful visit to Plains an, everything seemed a chore, ordered some food, waited 20 minutes even though very few in the pub. Man and woman came in 10 minutes after us and got their food first, no one asked if we were OK, if food was OK, my brunch wasnt bad but my sons burger was a bit burnt, which is not really good. All in all I feel like I wasted £26 on food and drink which were average at the very best, definitely won't be going again. AWFUL

Food was excellent & service was great as we booked an early table, but as it got busy they seemed a little short staffed

Me and my fiancé came here for food! We both had a mixed grill and upgraded to the extra steak! The mixed grill was cooked to perfection and I would personally like to thank the chefs for cooking a lovely meal and to thank all the bar staff for being super helpful when it came to ordering our food! The service was amazing, the staff were very attentive and I would definitely recommend this place to anybody!! This place has such a great atmosphere too! Thank you!

Staff very nice, food great. Parking has to be paid but you get a refund on your bill.

You can have a 2course meal for 6.99 or a 3 course for 7.99 if you are an old giffer like me, marvelous give it try, even the staff were very nice 👍🎄🧑‍🎄

Lovely afternoon lunch with a relaxed atmosphere, great service from Lisa and good value food.

Often go there for a pie and a Pint. Very good quality food and good size helping. I only usually go in the daytime and it has a very settled atmosphere with a steady stream of customers.

Great place to go and watch sports or play a couple games of pool with friends. Service was good & beer was cold, plenty of choice! Only downside is the toilets are very unkept!

Food was dry my pie was so hard i was unable to eat most of it normally it is really nice but not this time pie felt like it was a few days old

Tonight we went with our old friends for a meal. It was most enjoyable. The food was delicious & hot. The staff were very attentive & nothing was too much trouble. It was a most enjoyable experience & we will definitely dine here again. Pat Parker.

Can't fault my birthday lunch at the plainsman they have a main menu, a brunch menu and a senior menu and a children's menu we ate from the senior main and children's menus easy to read easy to order and the food comes out hot and tasty. We will be returning again thank you

Sunday roast was like hospital food

Lisa and Helen served us today ,both lovely , my mum knocked her drink over ,Lisa came over and sorted it even replacing the knocked over drink

Had a relaxing breakfast/brunch and was well looked after by Sarah and her team. Lovely touch with the dog menu too. Will be back next time we're in Nottingham.

The meal was great, the staff were friendly and helpful and the place was very relaxed. The menu was a decent size with some good choices for a reasonable price and as a bonus theres parking at the back. I will definitely be back.

Sarah and her team were great, serving fresh hot food to a family of 8 people for my Dad's birthday. All the meals were delicious we all agreed.

Had a relaxing meal with my sister, which was very tasty and hot. We didn't have to wait long either. The staff were very pleasant. Would definitely return.

We came with the babies and Sarah was so helpful. Took out order at the table, looked after us and bought us everything we needed.

We go to the Plainsman about three times a week, the food & drinks are very good, Ali the barman very polite and quick to serve everyone, would highly recommend.

The food and service were excellent.

Shocking service when my friends and I went for food the other night. Several glasses smashed behind the bar, a full glass of Coke spilled all over my friend, served dessert and failed to clear mains plates, had to ask for cutlery. Mess all over the floor that staff just kept walking over and ignoring, see photo.

Popped in just before the kitchens closed and they very kindly still let us order. Good pub food and super friendly service.

On one hand they serve Neck oil and the staff seemed to be doing thier best. On the other hand while we were in this bar On a Sunday afternoon for 2 hours I witnessed several people leave the gents without washing thier hands, part of the bar stunk of weed and to top off the ambience one of a group of lads near us was sick on the floor (roughly 5pm).

Had lovely meals today the sharing plate was really nice lots choose from my mixed grill was perfect and my wife's macron cheese was best she had we will be back keep up the good work cheers

Myself and my friend have been coming here for years. Today we met and had food. It was absolutely and utterly disgusting. I paid £8 for a couple of soggy chips cauliflower cheese that looked like a train wreck and soggy foul tasting onion rings. The coffee machine was broken - yet again!! I wont be returning again !

Eating in today and notice the windows were very dirty and in need of a good clean, which does let the place down, food took quite a time to arrive, not what I expected half a fish? 8 chips and dried peas. Lemon is rock hard.

Staff are outstanding - Lisa & Helen are extremely kind, doing everything above and beyond to help me. This provides me with the confidence of being in a nice environment with a relative that has dementia. Staff are really kind & lovely - appreciated.

Absolutely disgraceful food and customer service, the food wasn’t edible at all, the chicken was slimey The steak came out 3 minutes after ordering and it was like rubber. We told staff our concerns and was fobbed off! We didn’t eat anything so left it all. The staff member then said “I’ve ate it before and not had any problems” so completely ignored our problems! Will not be returning and would not recommend!

Awful food, everyone’s plate was brought out at different times, steak was brought out within the first 2 minutes of ordering it and majority was pure fat!! Wouldn’t recommend

I tell you what folks. If you like a fish and chip meal, you'd be absolutely mental NOT to go to the plainsman. It's absolutely fantastic. And you won't believe how inexpensive it is. Don't sit there reading this, get your shoes on and go. You really won't be sorry.

Met here for a meeting. Service was really good and, despite being busy, wait times were also good. Staff were cheerful and chatty and attentative. No disruptions, which is also a good sign. Nice and tidy and warm too.
