Pizza Pilgrims in Cambridge

The service was not the best, we had to wait to be served a very long time that we thought to walk out. Pizza is okay but the toppings are below average.

Things here were so bad when we visited that it is hard to put into words. The service was dire, the wait was inordinate and the actual pizza, that we regret waiting for 50 minutes for, was poor and way too much crust and not enough topping. There was a period of about 50 minutes when nobody on any of the tables downstairs had any food at all, and the staff were busy concentrating on a huge group upstairs. we will not be returning. A shame because, when we visited when they first opened, things were far from good, but not this bad.

Pizza pilgrims pizzas are wonderful, the garlic bread is also lovely. That’s a given. However having to wait over an hour in a half empty restaurant for a pizza is terrible. The waitress really wasn’t bothered, we had to chase her at least 3 times to go on check on the pizza, and drinks. Won’t go back to this particular branch in a hurry.

We visited on a busy, sunny Sunday afternoon. Despite this, drinks came within minutes and food in only a few more. Service was friendly and pizzas were top drawer, with gluten free pizza the best wife’s ever tasted! Tiramisu with a Nutella twist also really good. We’ll be back!

Had a lovely time. It was back of the net service from Pele! The pizza was delicious and came how I wanted. Good dips too! Will be back!

It was ok but nothing to be excited about. Atmosphere is nice but service was a little lack lustre - our bottle of prosecco arrived but was not opened by staff - we had to do that ourselves and at £30 a bottle was a little annoying. The water we ordered also never came. Starters were nice although again for £13 for a mixed starter they were a little small. It was the pizza that was a bit of a let down, very limited amount of topping - in fact I had to ask for more sausage on mine as my friend who had the same pizza had double what mine had - and the pizzas (unless stated) have no sauce on at all so it was a very dry affair with small amounts of cheese and topping an abundance of a big thick crust which I noticed most people were not eating! For £14 I expected an awful lot more. We will not be rushing back anytime soon

I’m a bit confused how this restaurant has so many terrible reviews. We had a really lovely meal here - we shared the fritto misto and then had the pepperoni and 8 cheese pizzas with some crust dips. The crust was super - light, chewy, thin in the middle with a decent crust and good level of spotting from the oven. The toppings were really tasty. The staff were all Italian and friendly. We felt like it was a fairly authentic experience having been to Naples last year (when in Cambridge). We will return!

Family of 5, been before but to Covent Garden. Really disappointed with the Cambridge branch. Staff were ok but wiped our water glasses and they were disgusting. The napkins were literally brown 🤢 We ate and left, not wanting to return. Shame!

We booked dinner at Pizza Pilgrims as it was always busy, so we thought it must be good! And to be fair - the pizza was lovely! We were seated right in front of the till, so you felt like someone was always hovering over you which was a bit uncomfortable. As we were looking at the menu a family walked out, and the dad shouted "worst service ever", meanwhile another customer was at the till getting a refund on the bill the waitress had overcharged her on. We questioned whether maybe we'd made a mistake, but decided to stay. It took a while to order, but we weren't in a rush. The table next to us got bored of waiting to order and left. The waitress took our order without writing it down, so inevitably part of our order was forgotten. She did give us two "free" dips for the inconvenience while we waited, however we counted the cost of those in the not so optional service charge. We are people who will always leave a tip if we have good service - we don't like to be forced to leave one, especially for bad service. While i understand it's optional, it's very difficult to stand in front of your server and ask them to remove that. I have to say the pizza and garlic bread was lovely, however you were let down by average service.

After passing the restaurant during the day and seeing the pizza, we made our minds up that we would order it that evening. Unfortunately what we got wasn’t great. We had it delivered and it had moved around in the box but it was also kind of wet maybe from grease I’m not sure but it wasn’t overly special either just average tasting. I will say though the spaghetti balls were on point and definitely better than the pizza. Side note we were only a 5 minute bike ride from the restaurant which is how it was delivered.

Five stars at best pizza place around by far! As a white artist myself (I’m an Italian pizza master), I’ve always struggled to find a nice Neapolitan pizza place in my already 7 years in UK. Been working a bit around and never been allowed to modify the company dough, I could never enjoy the pleasure of a real Neapolitan pizza. So far. Finding Pizza Pilgrims at 30 minutes driving from home is a gift. Long story short, eccelse pizza, not too bad prices and lovely setting showing you how parts of Naples really are. If you’re in Cambridge, you gotta eat this pizza.

I love pizza, but it is not easy to get right. The one I had at Pizza Pilgrims missed the target by a mile. The dough was tough and sticky, and a little undercooked (and indigestible), there wasn't enough tomato sauce or cheese, and the piece of mozzarella di bufala was smaller than a golf ball, and very mediocre. Fritto misto should be fried in batter, but here it was in thick, dark brown breadcrumbs. Not good at all, and there's much better pizza to be had elsewhere in Cambridge.

Amazing time at Pizza Pilgrims - food delicious and staff great. We sang an a cappella song and got free dessert so excellent experience all round. Thanks!

Booked table for for daughters Birthday Celebration. Given table in front of main desk and in main walk way, spent most of the evening surrounded by waiting staff crossing and delivery drivers in full bike gear, in balaclavas, slashing phones with booking references on, not pleasant. Table not fully laid. Pizza as always good, starters /sides served in half bowl portions, not at all up to usual standard. Either short on supplies and some one had lost interest. Deserts the same out of lemon sorbet, tiramisu and 3 Nutella things arrived tasting and looking very different with a definite shortage of ice cream. Service slow and flustered, not at all worth the 15% charge automatically added to bill. In all disappointing evening.

I'm not one to usually write reviews, but this place was INCREDIBLE! I have coeliac disease, which they took care of very well and made sure my pizza and dips were gluten-free. I ordered the 'You've got Maiale' pizza on a gluten-free base, and I would go as far to say that it was the best gluten-free pizza I have EVER HAD. Everything was delightful. I would highly recommend this place to any fellow coeliacs, or even if you're not gluten-free like me, the regular pizzas still looked amazing. We were served by Astin who was so attentive and sweet, sat me and my friend down during a busy time when we hadn't booked, and the food came 15 minutes after ordering. 100% will come back soon :)

It took a long time to be taken to our reserved table. The service was poor. Lots of staff, but not concentrating on the customers. The food was good, but average. I paid around £36 for a pizza, side salad and drinks. Expensive for what you get. Basic and cheap ingredients to make this meal and being charged so much! I will not be returning, which is a shame.

Pretty average. Dont bother if you are looking for good pizza. Pizzas quite empty. Not good value for money. Staff good though. Not good

Not a Neapolitan pizza. Friarielli were not friarielli. Texture was somewhat similar, but didn’t resembled to the right taste. Waiters were kind and it was nice quite to have a good conversation with a friend

Food here is ok, prices are ok, service is just about ok. It’s a pizza place that is just average. I see no reason to return to it when there are plenty of good pizza places in Cambridge. This is just your typical chain restaurant, expect average service and food and you won’t be disappointed. We had items missing from our order, was then told two of the items of the starters we ordered were out of stock. We were then served one lone dessert when there should have been three, had to go ask for the other two as the one we were served had now been eaten as it would have melted. Was told they had ti sort a delivery drive out that’s why food delayed, that’s correct, sort a delivery driver out instead of looking after paying customers in the restaurant. Service charge is added to the bill as standard.

📍Pizza Pilgrims, Cambridge A sensational pizza experience- first time for me, second for ben. The menu had a variety of pizzas, all sounding lovely, however I went for the ‘you’ve got maiale’. Ben went for the double pepperoni and hot honey, and we got the cacio e pepe balls, and smoked mozzerella bites as sides. As crust dippers we got 2 garlic and herb dips and one proscinaisse. To start with my pizza- wowwwweeee. It was cooked perfectly and the toppings were so generous, with the addition of the burrata on top being the icing on the cake for me. The balsamic glaze added a hint of sweetness alongside the spiciness of the ndjua sausage. The garlic and herb dip worked PERFECTLY with this and the crusts were not at all dry and were definitely not left at the end. With regards to the sides the cacio e pepe balls stole it for me! They were literally crispy balls filled with a creamy cacio e pepe! Could’ve done with slightly more pepper for me but were very creamy and cheesy. The mozzerella bites were VERY cheesy (look at the cheese pull), however could’ve done with some more sweet chilli sauce that came with it. Tasty nice but perhaps a bit more of a ‘smoked’ flavour as advertised in the menu could’ve have been nice. Great feedback from ben on his pizza too. Overall the experience was DELIGHTFUL and would definitely return. Portion sizes were perfect, and service was incredibly fast. Price reasonable for a pizza chain.
