Pizza Express in City of London, Westminster

Really disappointed. Having had a great experience at one of your branches in Ipswich two days previously, I ordered the same pizza - half garlic prawn and half La Reine. When it arrived, my pizza was very soggy with no crisp edge. My friend's pizza was fine. Also, the dough balls were cold, and the garlic butter was too hard. Couldn't dip. We had to use a knife to put it on the dough balls. Normally, the dough balls are too hot to touch on arrival at the table. I forgot to use my Club reward and neither of us was asked by the (morose!) waitress if we had that. Sorry, I just didn't feel that on this occasion it was value for money. I probably should have brought up these issues at the time, but I was with a friend that I hadn't seen for two years and we had so much to talk about and I didn't want to put a downer on our meeting.

Went about a week ago, we were very early for our booking and the hostess was incredibly helpful in getting us a table anyway. All the staff were lovely and service was quick, but our server Ferroz was especially helpful. Had a wonderful evening and would definitely come back again.

It was an okay place to visit for a quick meal ahead of a show at a nearby theatre.

Ademar gave excellent service and helped us out getting a student discount! He was amazing with giving us extra help. Can’t thank him enough.

La pizza estaba caliente en lugar de caliente cuando se sirve; se puede ver la cocina y la comida esperando la entrega a las mesas y la comida estuvo sentada durante algún tiempo enfriándose mientras el personal se apresuraba. La pizza también era bastante sosa; no es lo que normalmente espero de Pizza Express. Parece que la sucursal necesita emplear más personal de camarera o tener menos mesas (esto también ayudaría a no sentirse tan aplastado con los vecinos; alguien no podría caminar entre nuestra mesa y la mesa vecina). No volveré a esta sucursal.

It took 60 minutes to be served and place our order after we sat down, and waited another 40 minutes for the food to arrive. Is it really Pizza Express, or should it be called Pizza Slow?

Our waiter Jacob was friendly, charming, patient (!) and very efficient. He was excellent and well supported by his manager who also spoke to us and made us feel welcome and cared for...

Quick review, we quite often eat here as it's close to the hotel we always stay at. It's always good, and a relaxing end to the day. Nothing negative to say. Staff are amazing with kids too. Thanks guys!

We were seated about 6pm pretty quickly (I had booked) by the polite host, but after that everything was pretty disappointing. After waiting for a long time to give our order I eventually stood up and addressed a nearby member of staff who told me he was a chef and could not help. I sat down as there was no one around and tried to address a waiter as he walked past, who just carried on walking in a hurry. After waiting a while longer, I stood up again and talked to the waiter who'd walked past me and he did come to take our order. We'd been in the restaurant about 30 mins by this point. When our drinks came, part of it was missing and when I tried to get some attention I was told by two waiters (including the one who'd taken our order) that they were not 'our waiter' and we should talk to 'our waiter'. We had no idea who that was. Eventually I flagged down a third person and she did bring the missing drinks. We'd ordered a starter to share but was told after a while that they had run out of that particular item. So we waited for the mains. We'd nearly finished our drinks by the time the pizzas came. My friend said, oh my pizza is cold and we realised all our pizzas were cold but we were so hungry and the chances of getting any attention to say anything felt very slim and stressful so we ate our cold pizzas. When our plates were cleared by about the 4th different person to serve us that even (maybe 'our waiter) she asked how things were and when I said the pizzas were as cold she told me we should have said straightaway, but I'm not sure who we should have spoken to as no one was around offering us service, and the thought of having to wait longer to eat was also very unappealing! By the time we finished our food the restaurant was much quieter and the person taking our payment asked how the experience was. I said it wasn't the best and she said they were very busy and apologised. On top of this, we were near the kitchen and there was pretty constant clattering and banging coming from there. So generally it was a pretty stressful, disappointing experience, sadly.

We have been regulars of Pizza express ( Milton Keynes) for many years, the reason for that is consistency, it therefore made sense to grab lunch in a Pizza Express whilst in London and unfortunately it was the Bow street restaurant that we happened to choose. Upon arrival we weren’t greeted as nobody seemed to even notice that we were waiting, within minutes of our arrival more people were queuing behind us , eventually a member of staff finally came , we sat down and within a few minutes we’d placed our order and drinks arrived minutes later , another 5 minutes later the dough balls arrived along with a black hair sticking out of the butter ! A few more minutes passed after we finally managed to get the attention of a member of staff ( I swear they have blinkers on ) , he quickly came back with the same now cold dough balls and another ramekin of garlic butter . Around 15 minutes or more later we noticed that the people on the table adjacent to us were being served their food ( they were behind us when we arrived! ) And then another bunch of people were also getting their food , by now we’re not happy so my wife had to chase down a member of staff to ask where our food was , we were told it will be 2 minutes more, 5 or more minutes later no food , so my wife asked the woman who we think was the front of house who said yes it’s coming ( still no apologies) 5 minutes later there’s still no food so we got up and left . Very poor service.

Visited 30th Dec approx 8.45pm, Apparently open until 10.30pm, first guy was friendly enough but rudely advised by bald guy place was closed, despite having patrons and kitchen looking open. Glad didn't eat there as looked dead and dirty, didn't want to leave a review but you clowns didn't leave me a choice, joke of a place.

Visited 30 December 2024. We arrived and the first impression was awful. We counted 11 dirty uncleared tables and only about 4 tables occupied. It was 19.30 . The lady on the door was very nice and helpful but had To wait forever to be served. The tables remain uncleared for the whole time we were there and customers were being told they were fully booked but they were not at all. The guy who appeared to be the manager after the lady left to go home was clearly not interested in having more customers so kept turning them away. The waiter were all clearly not interested and I even heard one complaining about their job to a table of customers I would really recommend avoiding this branch of Pizza Express as it seems standards there terrible!!! Avoid

Terrible food and experience. Possibly because we just got there with 15 mins before kitchen close, but the food was terrible and there is no excuse for that imo. The server seemed disinterested and the pasta arrived cold. The dough balls al forno tasted like nothing and completely bland, while the pizza was soft and soggy. The veggies on both the pasta and pizza were thrown disdainfully and werent even cut well.

Booking mattered for nothing, they were over booked, got a table 20 mins late and then waited 45 mins for food, which in fairness was very good.

Awful food and service. The lady that was at the main desk was good because we came earlier than our booked table. However, our waiter with the grey hair was not good you could tell he didn’t want to be there. All the staff looked stressed I even saw one kick something by the coffee machine. Bad vibes in there. My friend and her kids got the kids starter quickly but the main meal my pizza too ages about 50 mins. I had to ask for it politely I think the waiter had forgotten it was cold. The pizza looked anemic it was the mushroom truffle and it had no flavour! I used to go to pizza express all the time in the two branches in Dean street, and other central locations. The pizza was so small compared to a few years ago and it was almost soggy, the chilled pizza in Tesco is better and £5 not £17.50! Maybe it is this branch. We had to try and get a different waiter for the dessert for the kids meal, he was much nicer. The waiter that originally served us was not please when myself and my friend put no on the card machine for a tip and he slammed the receipt down. Absolute disgraceful branch there were loads of staff and it was only 3:30pm in the afternoon. I would definitely not recommend this branch and it has put me off to risk going to any other branch there are so many pizza places and competition in London.

Overall tasty, but the dough was not crispy and tasted a bit spongy. Tasty sauce and ingredients, nice restaurant.

A big thankyou to Agnieszka We're a bit slow deciding and ordering and Agnieszka was so patient with us. Particularly as it is very busy people going to the theatre. Much appreciate your patience . Been coming here for 30 years and that won't change !

My wife, my toddler & i were turned away at 16:09pm from this restaurant which was barely 20% full because apparently there was no space later on in the evening for walk ins. When we tried looking online later there were options to book which was odd... The chap who I believed was the manager was quite blunt & just kept pointing to his piece of paper with names on. There was a family of 4 behind us in the same position who had young children who were turned away for the same reason and who were also confused, it just kinda felt that as families with young children it was too much trouble to accommodate - I have a feeling if it was just my wife & I they would have found us a table somewhere, again, in a place less than 20% full. Anyway, we went to the Strand Pizza Express straight after the paper pointing & mumbling, they couldn't have been more accommodating & understanding and very good with our young son. So go there instead and don't let the paper pointing man ruin your afternoon.

Crowded out bustling place. Nevertheless quick and friendly attentive service. Prior booking a must if you want to be sure of a table. It was a Sunday so maybe even busier as a result.

Mi familia y yo fuimos a Pizza Express el sábado, no tuvimos ninguna reserva y el personal todavía hizo espacio para nosotros, todo salió bien la comida era deliciosos postres también tuvimos un camarero joven su nombre era Raúl, una persona muy buena y paciente amable y él era muy servicial con las recomendaciones sobre el menú.

¡Una farsa total! Esperó 35 minutos a que llegaran los primeros platos, los siguientes cuatro cinco minutos después. Penne Pollo Pasta ni siquiera estaba tibia, faltaban bolas de masa, y cuando llegaron eran los equivocados. Pedimos un plato de pasta de reemplazo y tomates en medio de la pizza LEGERA - los tomates nunca llegaron, la pasta llegó después de un recordatorio al gerente, momento en el que la mayoría de los huéspedes habían terminado su plato principal. La pasta una vez más estaba tibia, y cuando hablé con el gerente la respuesta fue - el restaurante está muy ocupado y vi al chef revolviéndolo! No comestible. Pedí dos pastel de chocolate caliente, salió frío y sin cubiertos - tenía que perseguir al personal para cubiertos. El personal no pudo gestionar el número de huéspedes en el restaurante.

We came for lunch and it was a very nice experience. The distinctive Roma pizza with mushrooms, cheese, and white pasta with chicken, with distinctive accessories and a luxurious view of the store. We were received by the distinguished employee, Raul, who was at your service and provided unlimited assistance from entering the store, taking orders, and even leaving the store. There is halal food

Tuvimos una comida increíble aquí. Pizza sin gluten deliciosa y cuidadosamente preparada con adaptaciones según lo solicitado. Ensalada fresca que era enorme y suficiente para 2 . La camarera era encantadora muy atenta y acogedora. gracias

Qué horror. Teníamos dos pizzas clásicas, ambas tenían bases mal cocinadas y cubiertas tibias. Cómo Pizza Express ha caído solía ser el lugar para ir por buena comida a un precio razonable. Tampoco recuerdo que las pizzas fueran tan pequeñas en el pasado. Nunca más. Hay cientos de lugares mejores para comer a poca distancia de la Royal Opera House, elige uno cualquiera de ellos y tendrás una mejor comida. Para ser justos, el servicio era agradable y atento, solo que la comida no era lo suficientemente bueno.

Standard Pizza Express. Nothing out of the ordinary. Quick service. No complaints.

Absolutely dire 50 minutes wait for our food. When it eventually arrived, surprisinly seconds after I had complained about the wait, they swore it had just come out of the oven, yet it was stone cold. It had obviously been standing around....for some time They offered to rebake it but by then it was too late - this was a pre-theatre supper The manageress was courteous and gracious and she did deduct the cost of the uneaten courses from the bill without question, but it was a ruined meal none-the-less To be avoided.

Food was great and got to us very fast, service was impeccable and we were served almost immediately by lovely people. Beautiful artwork on the walls and altogether a great experience!

So slow to get the drinks etc. And they didn't take our order until agesss

We went here for a meal before the theatre and were really disappointed with the service. I know it's busy, but we waited 15 minutes just to have someone take our order. We asked for kids starters to come with the main course but this was ignored and came separately. After another half hour of waiting for the main course I asked the waiter who just said "it's busy". Eventually and after complaining to the manager our food arrived. Food was decent but the waiter was not helpful at all, no appology and no update on how long the food would take. The place was overcrowded and clearly cannot cater for the amount of people they had there.

The 5 stars is for the service we received. Pizza preferences differ so much that my opinion probably is meaningless. The restaurant was full when we arrived at 6:00 without a booking. We told the manager that we were trying to make a 7:00 theatre performance. She was able to squeeze us in at the next available table. Then our waiter, Yuksel, worked his magic and got us immediate drinks, an extra speedy pizza and an instant tab. We made the performance with time to spare. Many thanks to all.

We chose Pizza Express as we thought it would be a good restaurant for our party of six with two young children, before we went to see Matilda. There were quite a few families doing the same thing as us. Unfortunately, I think at least one member of staff was missing, which we found out from overhearing the waiters conversation. We had reserved a table for 5 PM but were not seated until after 5:20. Our food didn’t arrive until 6:10. The table next to us gave up waiting and just left, we hurriedly ate our food as we had to leave in time for the theatre. The food was OK, the children’s pizza was great, the drinks were good. I wish someone had told us, and the other familieswho were pre-theatre dining that service was likely to be very slow when we walked in the restaurant. That would have allowed us to make an informed decision. The waiters were trying to be helpful and were always polite, but better communication with your guests would have been really appreciated!

Well where do I start with our experience at this restaurant!! Terrible! We were a table of 6 .. 3 adults and 3 kids!! We booked our table for 5.30pm, we arrived at 5.15pm and was shown straight to the table.. the waiter took our drinks 5 mins after.. drinks came within 5 mins and we were happy! The kids needed the toilet so we asked the manager where were they and he replied saying I don't know I'm new here!! Says it all really We then had to wait a further 45 / 50 mins even before ordering any food!! And that was us asking the waiter if we could order. He came over with a dirty plate and sweat pouring from his face to what he kept wiping it with his hand while using his table phone thing to input our order! While we were ordering we asked if the pollo pesto pasta was vegan and the waiter said there wasn't an option to input that and he would have to check!! Really!!! Once we had ordered we were left and only what I can describe around us was utter shambles! Meals going back 3 or 4 times because they weren't cooked or really badly burnt! I could see the kitchen from our table and everyone looked like they didn't want to be there.... They just couldn't keep up with the amount of people that was in the restaurant!! We asked the manager how long it was going to be. He didn't have a clue what was going on and I still didn't get answer... The kids were hungry and getting restless to only find out that they hadn't even started our meals!!! This was before at least 5 or 6 tables around us walked out. Once we found out our meals weren't even started we walked out and had to find somewhere else to feed the kids and at 7.10pm they were tired, hungry and emotional!! As we walked out that same manager said to us thank you for coming hope to see you soon!! Well he didn't want to hear my response!!! So we sat down at our table at 5.15pm and left the restaurant at 7.10pm with only having a drink!! This is not acceptable and yes I would like a response!!

Not great, both hosts away from their station so stood for a good 5 minutes despite booking and arriving on time. Kept disappearing off together and emerging at same time flustered touching their face/noses (!!!) Table not ready / and a lot of untidy tables which I assume is why it took the host a while to find us one Once we were finally seated we were broached for drinks and starter orders multiple times by different waiting staff. Once we'd settled and they'd worked out who was looking after us it was plain sailing and the food was good, highly unprofessional until this point though.

Lovely staff! Very efficient and organised! Fast service. The kids' pizza was quite small,however, for the 3 couses you get on the kids' menu for under 8 pounds (excluding drink), it is great value for money and certainly fills you up for lunch!

Pizza Express usually a family favourite, however the staff at this one were awful, stood waiting to be seated for 10 minutes whilst they sauntered around (I had to ask in the end), then waiting for another 20 minutes before and orders taken. I had to ask for the bill several times, many of which were very obviously ignored. I appreciate if restaurants busy but this was not even half full! Real shame

The Pizza Express in Bow Street is spacious and beautifully designed. The ambience at night with soft lighting is appealing. Whenever we went the staff are very helpful and professional and the food is excellent.

Always a good meal, but the waiter was particularly great. Nothing was too much trouble, although he was rushed off his feet.

I am deeply sorry to say the quality of the food is bad !! The service and atmosphere very good. But the pizza was very low quality.

Me and my family went out this afternoon for lunch, came to Pizza Express bow street a nice place to stay and have a coffee and to enjoy while being in family and eating aswell something delicious, today our waiter was one young man he just turned 18 not sure about his name but nice guy and very respectful and friendly around people

In comparison to other branches, and in comparison to our previous visit, the service really had dropped. The food quality was nice, and the waiter made an effort to check the menu dietary requirements for me prior to letting me place an order.

I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant with a friend of mine recently, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with the attentiveness of the staff. Despite the fact that the place was quite busy, our waiter was incredibly accommodating and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for him. I would highly recommend this establishment and give it a five-star rating.

I happen to like this franchise very much. Service is always good, very nice food and the prices are fair. This branch is particularly nice. I’ve enjoyed a very nice American pizza with onions, and the Italian beer is nice. Surprisingly fast also, for those ina hurry.

I went into Pizza Express in hopes to change my babies nappy after being turned away from many places, and at the front was Adam at the door, he was so accommodating and helpful and let me use the changing rooms, as well as stopped to have a chat with me and my family. He was so friendly and I would definitely go back simply because of how friendly and helpful he was!

I came here last week and the waiter was so nice, but this week its the second time i have been here, the waiter was almost shouted me and said 'just wait' in a rude way.. but the waitress lady who tooks order was nice.. also they didnt help us to charge our phone :(

Food was great and delicious, I ordered margarita pizza, vegetables pizza and penne pasta . The margarita was so delicious but vegetables pizza was normal one and had too much onions and the pasta was so delicious and tasty, the cheese on it was so good. Service was so great the employee was so respectful with us and helpful. Atmosphere was good

The person that served us was lovely but when we arrived I asked to move as my daughter is currently very anxious and needs to be in a quieter space. I was directed to the manager and asked to be in a corner or on the side. Despite me explaining the reason for my request (she was also wearing ear defenders) I was met with grumpiness and "it will be loud over there too". Also it felt a little grubby/dirty.

Had to go here due to a problem in Gauchos kitchen. Food was cold and not very nice. I’m normally a big fan of this chain much more so than the rest of the family but even I couldn’t defend them. They took 3 off the 4 main courses of the menu due to poor quality. Service was fine no issues whatsoever but after our complaint the manager told our server that he would be fired when his shift finished. Let’s be clear it was the food that was the problem not the service. Manager was then rude when we questioned this. Not a nice man and if anyone deserves sacking it’s him. Wish I took his name to publicly name and shame the manager.

Pizza express in covent garden was very busy all the time lucky l got a table with out having to book. Very pleasent atmosphere interesting menu with plenty of choice. Service was competent no rush all in all avery enjoyable experience.

Larisa was fantastic...so friendly, attentive and made great recommendations. She's a real credit to the restaurant. Food was delicious...thin base pizza with very fresh toppings

So this is the thing, we wanted to have some food before going to Matilda the Musical. We went to PZE as they have a gluten free menu and we have been quite happy in the past. The service was really good and friendly, however the pizza quality was not great. There were not many toppings on the pizza and the base was not great. We can make it a lot better at home and that is not why you go to a pizza restaurant. Will give it a rest for a while and risk it again in a few months. I believe in second chances.

My friends and I nipped in for a bite to eat before seeing a show, and we had the best time! We LOVE pizza express, and the staff at this location couldn’t have been more helpful - they recommended some great dishes, all of which we loved and devoured. I think our servers name was Tara (I hope this is right!), and she made our evening so special, hats off to you for providing such great service ✨ we will definitely be back again!
