Service was good, food was good enough, value for money is atrocious. Who thinks that paying 19 quid for a pizza is reasonable? Given how competitive pizzerias have become in recent years, I think this place is on borrowed time unless it radically changes.

Awful service wanted to split bill in two as was with friends and my daughter explained I had Tesco vouchers which I wanted to use for myself and daughter . The other party did not have vouchers we would never pay together anyway and have done this consistently before . Manager was obnoxious only interested in the money no customer service skills pizza express should not partake to Tesco voucher if they do not really want them . I refused to give that manager any of my money , others had placed order so I sat there without anything to eat. Would have gone elsewhere but was a concert night so obviously hectic which is why we rebooked . Will not be visiting again

Pre booked table for 7,,, signs up saying fully booked only pre bookings allowed. We arrived 10 minutes before our booked time, staff member checked our booking and quickly had us sat our a table. The restaurant at this time was very quiet, only around 4 - 5 tables with people. It took a long, long time to get served , in fact, we had to go and ask for our order to be taken. Once order was taken, everything was very slow, drinks, starters, and mains were just ridiculous long,,,, over an hour to get mains. While the food was reasonably tasty, some of the pizzas were not very hot, clearly been stood for a while while others were cooking. Despite asking for the pepper grinder and chilli oil, we eventually got up to get our own. The staff started to clear plates while some were still eating. They even attempted to remove my daughters plate while she was clearly eating (food still on plate). We were overcharged on the bill, an additional pizza was added,,, we did not order or eat this pizza, how many times do they try this??? The staff were not interested in serving at all, very miserable and disinterested. Very poor experience for a bill of over £100

Bad chef today. Very very thin dough, like literally hardly any thickness to the base. Hardly any cheese on all the pizzas. Ordered a pollo as Astra, the chicken was plain with too much flavouring on the actual base not on the chicken? I’ve eaten at a lot of pizza expresses and this was the worst food I’ve had. service was good though hence three rather than two stars.

Myself and my sister tried to visit the restaurant on the evening of Friday 1st December around 6pm where we started by waiting outside the doors as there was a sign saying “please wait here to be seated”. At this point I would like to note that I am coeliac so have limited dining options, but usually have a good experience with pizza express. My sister is also disabled and autistic and had her small assistance dog with her. After 15 minutes of being ignored by staff members who had blatantly seen us, and another group joining behind us, I decided to go in. I approached the manager who had been ignoring everyone outside, and she immediately and rudely said ‘we have no tables’. I could see there were quite a few tables of two, but fair enough, I’ve worked in hospitality so I understood. However this could have been communicated to us instead of leaving us waiting, and I know that’s what I would have done in my jobs previously. We then went to gourmet burger kitchen next door, and had a 100 times better experience in terms of staff friendliness and professionalism. Funnily enough when we left and walked past pizza express about an hour later, quite a few of the same tables were free. That made my DISABLED sister feel like the reason we were ignored and dismissed was because she had her assistance dog with her. Instead of communicating with us, it felt like assumptions had been made and it’s not okay. Pizza express, do better.

I had never been a fan of pizza express until eating here the food was excellent but was overshadowed by the excellent service the host and our waiter went above and beyond for a large group of us would highly recommend

Booked a pizza making party for 13 yr old twins and 3 friends. Set up just outside the main restaurant so as not to disturb other diners. Table set with hats, pens, balloons and aprons. Single tables with pizza dough all ready too. 2 lovely members of staff helped kids stretch pizza, select toppings and made the whole experience great fun! (Even made sure they all washed their hands) Kids ate dough balls whilst pizzas cooked. Myself and husband ordered our lunch which arrived at the same time. Kids played a couple of really funny games - one involving dough throwing - hilarious! Plenty of squash provided and very attentive staff throughout. We took a birthday & candles which staff brought out. We weren’t rushed and nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks to Asha, Lizzy and Italia (hope I remembered your names correctly). Highly recommend booking a kids party here.

Fantastic service! Loved the food! Came out pipping hot and absolutely perfect! Drinks served swiftly and dough balls scrumptious. Service was amazing from Lizzy and the team! We were in Birmingham for a show and we’re able to be seated promptly and food came to the table as quick as any other pizza express we visit and with the same quality we’ve come to expect from them. Really good experience and will look to return next time we’re in town for a show.

Stood outside waiting for a table and were ignored - few tables empty so they had space, Darren had sat a table of Five and refused any tables of two. I do understand how busy it was. But Darren could have informed people who had been waiting that they wouldn't get a table rather than waiting..

My husband and I had tried here earlier before the Andre Resu concert but with no joy as they were fully booked. . We came back when the concert had started and the place was empty. We were shown to a booth table and given the menu by a rather nice young lady. My husband and I looked at the menu and made our choices. My husband had a spicy chicken pizza and I had a mushroom pizza, they arrived hot, but soon went cold as the plates were not that hot and very large and so lost heat quickly. The pizza's were tasty, but nothing to write home about. We washed these down with a can of bitter and a rose wine spritzer. The bill for two pizzas and two drinks was expensive around £ 45.00. We will not be returning here again.

The welcome from all staff was second to none. The restaurant wasn’t busy and food service was a little slow. All meals were good. A solid 4* seems fair.

We came in for a very tired dinner late on a Tuesday evening and were served great food, in great time and in a warm and friendly environment. Our server Tudie was friendly efficient and kept us entertained. Overall great!!

Not sure if you can leave a review if you left before you got in. Stood outside waiting for a table and were ignored - few tables empty so they had space, when we went to ask for a table begrudgingly offered a table by the door and told there was along wait for service. If you don’t make people feel welcome they go elsewhere - as did we !

We visited Resorts World Birmingham last weekend for Hits Live. It was so busy and we had not booked a table beforehand. They still managed to squeeze us in. Very good food and great service, highly recommended 🙌🏻
