Pizza Express in Solihull

Awful experience. The restaurant wasn't anywhere near full yet service was extremely slow. We waited 45 minutes for our food. When the food came it was terrible. The mozzarella sticks were soaking in oil and made me feel sick, the pasta was runny and soggy, and the pizza looked like a children's pizza and tasted average. I don't usually have negative experiences at restaurants and am usually understanding that staff have a lot to do and there can be issues sometimes, but this was honestly awful. When we raised the issue one staff member was very rude. The restaurant also felt run down and dirty. Food on the floor and on seats.

Staff were pleasant but not very attentive, for example we asked twice for a high chair, we were not asked if we wanted extra drinks or desserts, we had to go up and ask for the bill. We had a kids meal but no one offered the kids dessert. Macaroni cheese main was very over priced for what it was with nothing extra like salad or garlic bread. Very over priced for what we had. Calculating price per head is hard as we had a toddler and child with us.

*FOOD POISONING* Visited pizza express Saturday 11th Jan and later that evening had excruciating stomach cramps and was vomiting violently all night. I was sick 20+ times and when I contacted them they said they “did an investigation” and found nothing as no one else was ill. They offered me a £20 voucher to use! What a joke. There must have been something seriously wrong with the food and or hygiene in this restaurant due to how ill I was. AVOID!!!!!!!!!

No one asking your meals alright or needs anything else, very burn

Unfortunately the pizzas were cold within minutes of starting to eat them. But also, we ordered halloumi bites and honestly the portion size was disgraceful, around 10 bites of sugar cube size. I tried to feed back in this item but the app doesn’t offer that option.

Seated by server then totally ignored for 15 minutes. Gave up and went somewhere else. Nothing express about pizza express… need to change your name! Edit: after their response asking me to email them, I did and they totally ignored my email. Abysmal customer relations.

Table was next to windows, although all closed was very chilly . Seats were like school chairs, very uncomfortable. Service was OK but a little slow , with food and drink coming out on dribs and drabs . Food was average, pollo milanese to start very pale batter, fell off , under cooked . Bruno pizza tasted nice , a little soggy . Don't understand why you wouldn't cut the pizzas into slices before served . Putting a cutter on evert pizza is bonkers , its a novelty we could all do without. Surly would save the company a fortune in pizza cutting tools too. Desserts were good but all in all a very average experience.

We have dined here quite often in past but now collect pizza to take away. We’ve always enjoyed it and it’s never been too busy and atmospheres always nice. On our last visit to collect they surprised us with a lovely freebie! My son was over the moon. Thank you so much!

Pizza is naff for a pizza shop. Pepperoni is mini like the one on small Chicago town pizzas, actually they are much nicer. Also drinks were only half full. The cook touches the salad with his fingers then touches everything around. Over priced garbage

Ordered chicken parmigiana pasta. Didn’t like it at all! Chicken tasted old. Also the cook touches the vegetables that goes on the pizzas with bare hands! No gloves! Totally unhygienic.

Every time i come to pizza express i do not enjoy the experience ! I have experienced racism (I am brown) they saw me and my sister were waiting for a table for ten mintues but they never approached us, and our food always comes late eveb though we have ordered before other people in the resturant. This has happened many times!

It was a bit cold in here. The cups they gave us looked dirty and felt greasy. The water jug was also dirty and we weren't given ice in the water or our drinks. The waitress was super friendly and bubbly though, and the food was superb as always.

We were a large group booking of 19 people, and I gotta say, every one of your team members were spot on! I called up in advanced, and they asked for a pre order of what everyone wanted. And although I messed up on one of the orders, they were extremely quick to rectify the issue and got that order sorted with no fuss. Everyone was really patient (I've worked in the food industry before, so I know how stressful it can get), and they handled everything with such courtesy. Will be bringing my team back again soon - will be our annual go to! Thanks, once again

Ordered deliveroo fast service. Took over 90mins to come. 2 pasta dishes and a pizza. Everything was undercooked, the penne still was hard. Definitely not worth it. Tried to get a partial refund for the penne, deliveroo couldn't but mentioned leave a review.

really disapppointed, this is the 2nd time in a row delay over an hour, last time i had to cancelled it. and i was about to cancel it too this time after waited for over an hour. this is really not acceptable.

Booked a table for 12 o’clock today. Arrived on time and around 4 tables were occupied and most of the restaurant was empty. A man whom I assume is the manager sat us right at the back stuffed into a window where it was freezing cold and staring at the window cramped up. I asked if we could move and he said sorry the whole restaurant is booked out, we booked too?! We said we would be leaving as we weee unhappy with the table and he shrugged his shoulders and said OK. The restaurant was basically empty! Off to Zizzi we go!

Generally nice atmosphere with decent food for the price, staff & service are where it really shines. Neil in particular is the definition of professionalism and hospitality. Any establishment would be lucky to have him.

The pizza wasn’t cooked properly it was cold and doughy

Simply perfect! I was welcomed by Sam, who was very attentive and kind. And our orders were taken by the manager Stephany. She was totally helpful and managed to lighten the atmosphere. The food is extraordinarily delicious. And the atmosphere is very relaxed. I recommend it 100% and I will definitely be back soon.

My daughter and I recently dined at pizza express Solihull branch. We ordered a vegetarian pizza along with a couple of sides and drinks. When I initially took a first bite I smelt a meaty smell from the pizza so I had to stop myself and take a second look at the slice to make sure that it was actually a vegetarian pizza we were given, there was no signs of any meat in the pizza so I continued….it wasn’t until my daughter mentioned that she could also smell and taste something she described as a Smokey meaty smell and an off taste that we carefully inspected the pizza. We were both appalled upon realising that it seemed like there had been cross contamination in the process of preparing our pizza as the smell from the entire pizza was very meaty. We notified a staff member and the manager, they both denied any cross contamination had occurred. Although the manger took off the pizza from our bill, he was being rather rude about the situation. my daughter and I left the place feeling sick to our stomachs as we are vegetarian and Muslim. I would advise any vegetarian or Muslims to never eat at a place like this.

My husband and my children visited on a Friday evening to mark the end of half term. We hadn't been in a while, but we are so pleased we visited! From start to finish the service was impeccable, even though it was clearly busy. I am so disappointed I didn't get my waitresses name to give her a special commendation, as she was ever so friendly, put the children at ease, and there was nothing too difficult for her. She had a permanent smile on her face and such a positive demeanour, she is an asset to the team. The food was delicious - we ordered the £50 two large pizzas with 2 sides and doppio dough balls, and I ordered a lasagne for myself, all of which were served fresh and piping hot. I honestly couldn't fault anything at this venue, everything from the service to the food to the table by the window was faultless, even on a Friday night. We will be back again!

Mary was absolutely fantastic! Her friendly demeanor and attentive service made our dining experience at Pizza Express truly enjoyable. She was always smiling, happy to answer our questions, and ensured that our needs were met promptly. The food was delicious, as always, but Mary's exceptional service elevated our meal to a whole new level. We'd definitely recommend her to anyone visiting Pizza Express.

Our first time eating at this chain and... Lords, what a complete mess. We arrived at 6pm for dinner, made our orders and waited... Our entrees came out after about 20 minutes... Not a great start. It's a busy Saturday night, but still. Got to about 1 hour before we finally flagged someone down to ask where our mains were... Eventually after flagging her down AGAIN, we are informed that the order got lost... Very sorry, 5 to 10 minutes. They finally do come out, sides are coming. Parmigiana is pretty sad looking... Not much cheese, not particularly crispy breading. Pizzas look Fine. Sides come as I am finishing my main 😒 crispy potatoes... I take a bite and it's not particularly crispy... Oh, and still mildly frozen. Great. Flag someone down, send them back. They get shunted through whatever machine again and returned with an apology from the manager. In total we were there for over 2 hours, pretty dismal service (obviously understaffed) food was average and the price was definitely much higher than it was worth. Doubt I'll be back.

Pizza Express - Touchwood - Solihull. After-shopping meal. It was very early evening and the restaurant was quite quiet. We ordered promptly but were told there was no cannelloni, don't they make it on the premises? We discussed options with the waitress and she agreed they could serve spaghetti bolognese. Starters arrived promptly and were OK but the chilli prawns at £8.25 were expensive as the prawns were typical of frozen prawns thawed out. Then came the main course - sloppy giuseppe pizza on a romana base and the topping was very 'thin'. The spaghetti bolognese arrive but was macaroni with a tomato topping and no sign of any meat. We complained and were told they didn't do spaghetti. We accepted penne with bolognese sauce but when that arrived there was still very little trace of meat. The manager was less than helpful and when we said that the waitress had agreed to supply spaghetti he said 'these young ones don't know what they are talking about.' Surely it was his job to make sure they do know. Anyway, he walked away when we said that the restaurant had gone down a great deal since the change of menu and our last visit. This will be the last time we will visit a Pizza Express as the waitress said all the restaurants are the same.

Great food and food service. Took quite a while to be seated, but when the manager (I assume) stepped in, the line cleared in 5min! It was excellent. Food was fantastic and the satff were very friendly. Good reminders to use the app to check in too, much appreciated.

Why don't you cut the pizzas properly or at all? Please sharpen your pizza cutters or just get new ones. And please cut the children's pizzas, it takes seconds.

We stopped off here for dinner on our way back home. Our server Vicky was so friendly from start to finish making sure we had everything we needed and were served quickly, she really could not do enough for us. Also, Vicky knew the allergy menu like the back of her hand which was so refreshing as this is often far from the case at other restaurants. The food was great, premises clean and service quick. Awful service. Waited 20 minutes without having my order taken. Told the manager, he did not seem to care. The restaurant was not busy. Plenty of staff standing around doing nothing

The order was so late. 1 1/2 hours from order to delivery. Completely unacceptable.

Came for dinner early one evening, place was half busy. We were seated quickly and then left for a good while as our waiter greeted and served others who arrived after us. The pizzas were ok but we all agreed that this chain is living in the past now, the quality and style is easily surpassed these days by those with a decent pizza oven knocking out quality sourdough pizzas for fun.

Starters very nice. No complaints there. Mains however very disappointing. I had a tin tuna salad the potatoes were like bullets definitely not worth the price . my Granddaughters food was bland and tasteless . When we complain that the food was substandard the manager sent our waiter back to us saying there was nothing she could do as we didn’t complain when the waiter had asked us if we wanted more drinks ! Not very helpful and then wouldn’t speak to us about it . Definitely avoid Pizza express there are so many other places to eat in Solihull . Poor value definitely not worth the £100 we paid .

Visited Pizza Express today for my 7 year olds birthday & had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Our waitress Sophie gave 10\10 customer service & deserves recognition for that. She was super friendly, efficient & happy to help with our cake & any additional crayons requests from my children. All staff we encountered were equally friendly & helpful. The food was delicious & served within great time frames. Will definitely frequent this Pizza Express again & recommend it to friends! Thanks!

The place was empty and it still took them 40 mins to cook 1 pizza and a garlic bread. We only ordered as it was supposed to take 10 mins. When the food finally came they said there was nothing they could do to make up for the wait.

Thank God that we were able to redeem Tesco clubcard vouchers for our meal or we would have had to leave to eat elsewhere. The charge was £50.00 for a pizza leggere which was nice (but more like a snack portion) and my partner ordered a gluten-free pizza which we thought would be as large as the other pizzas we could see on other tables. We initially thought he’d been served the wrong pizza as it was very small and the protein toppings were very minimal. These pizzas with two drinks were £50.00 which is way overpriced. The order was akso incorrect as my partner ordered 0% alcohol beer and was brought an alcoholic one. We won’t be returning and will stick to Zizzi from now on as they offer gluten-free large pizzas with plenty of protein toppings!

Our first time to enjoy Pizza Express and the pizza dough and ingredients are of good quality. Please cut the pizza properly next time. Thanks

The most stingy pizza I’ve ever seen. I ordered a combo two meat pizza. I actually thought the waitress brought a veggie pizza by mistake. I found three pieces of chicken and the beef was nonexistent. Nearly £50 for two miserly pizzas and two drinks. Never again

The pizza came slightly burnt and the delivery driver was very rude.

Only went in the for hot drinks and desserts, greeted by management, staff members were lovely especially my server called Andrea, I think? We had an nut allergy and that was not an issue. But, just wanted to mention what a great ending to the evening we had at this place 😁

The portions were ridiculously small. The pizza was OK but the hallomi bites and roulade was childlike portions.

Food was ok, but a twenty minute delay at lunchtime is a lot. I’m sure it wasn’t the drivers fault.

Excellent customer service. Friendly and professional staff. Bit noisy with very loud young girls on next table. Otherwise, perfect. Food was lovely and piping hot. Decent value for money although the drinks were somewhat expensive.

Came with a friend for an early dinner, was asked if I had any allergies, I am coeliac and was given a gluten free menu which was great! After looking over the menu I didn't see as many vegans options as I saw online so asked for a vegan menu as well and was told what on the menu could be made gluten free. I even asked for a recommendation and was told which out of the two options were more popular. The food arrived quickly and was fantastic! The staff were attentive and brought boxes over for left over food and helped us with our student discount as well

I came into pizza express for a nice meal and good service as usual but I was wrong. The food was amazing & enjoyable but the service and wait was appalling. Our dough balls starter took over 20 minutes to arrive when usually it takes half the time and our main meal took around 40 minutes to an hour. This was ridiculous and frustrating as the restaurant was fairly empty. Do better next time. I had higher expectations.

Went on Thursday lunch time, we were dining 2 adults and 1 baby. The restaurant had not long opened. We were the only table in there, the service was brilliant, as a general manager myself in the hospitality industry it was nice to see the staff who was on not just standing around they were deep cleaning. We felt very welcomed the minute we sat down. Nothing seemed too much for the two ladies who were working FOH and the 1 chef BOH. We are regulars to pizza express as my mom is gluten free and they have options available for her, although she would like to see the spaghetti bolognese gluten free back on adults menu, as that was her go to dish.

For something that usually comes warm, it was disappointing that it was cold.

We’ve being enjoying food at pizza express Solihull for a good few years now and it’s our go to place for pizza. The food is always exceptional as is the service but today was one step even above that. Vickie is the most welcoming manager and after asking how our Xmas had been I mentioned it was our 33rd wedding anniversary. We ordered food which again was delicious and once finished asked for the bill. We were shocked when the young server came with this lovely surprise. Pizza express had also very kindly given us the meal on the house. This was such an unexpected kind gesture and in all the excitement we forgot to tip the server! Something which I will correct Thank you so much Vickie and her team

Large group of us went for our works meal. The food was great. Service was outstanding. Mary our waitress was absolutely brilliant, so attentive and friendly. It can be hard serving a large group but this didn’t phase her. She was brilliant. Thanks Mary!

Pizza was ordered at 7.15 and by 8.30 it still hadn’t arrived. I called Pizza Express and they said it was ready to go at 8.15. My pizza arrived at 9.15. 2 hours waiting time. No apology.

Visited for lunch on a Saturday and can’t complain. Staff told me about the club and I joined, got free dough balls and a discount. Could also pay on the app which I found handy as well. Very nice food, the portions are slightly smaller than you’d expect for the money though.

Absolutely wonderful adult pizza making party at Pizza Express last night. Hannah our host was a delightful young lady, who couldn’t do enough for us and as for Alex the chef, well he is a superstar too. Fabulous duo and I thoroughly recommend this restaurant as the pizzas are delicious. Ps. The Manageress who’s name I think is Vickie was a fantastic person to deal with too

Cold food, long waiting between ordering and food arriving. Over cooked pasta, cold garlic mushrooms and a freezing restaurant. Not a good evening. Waitress and manager apologetic and got a discount, but still let's the chain down as we weren't the only table having issues. Short staffed shouldn't be customers problem. Same dish in photos, but one was over cooked and with less sauce. 👎

Food was bland and tasteless, Calzone was wet and lacked flavour, defrosted spinach boiled aubergine made the bulk of the watery content inside, halloumi was greasy and it was hard to establish it was actually halloumi, portions overall were small. The only plus was the garlic bread olives and dips. Service was slow and lacked any desire or interest, we were only asked if we enjoyed the food after asking for the bill, after replying no we were met with the response of never mind. £60 for this is just terrible Pizza Express standards have slipped massively and the kids they have working there don’t care….. very disappointing and we will not be choosing to eat there in the future…………………………………… UPDATE I decided to take up the offer to reach out to Vickie the manager, weeks later after two emails sent I have not had a reply. This has only gone to reinforce my opinions of what a sham this place is!!! It would have been better if they had said nothing rather than an empty response to be seen to be addressing what is a pretty poor rating. AVOID THIS BRANCH OF PIZZA EXPRESS TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT

Hi guys.. The food was delicious... But I would have loved to see regular chips and wedges, spicy wedges etc. on the sides menu... Was disappointed about that.. My children introduced me to dough balls which I was quite new to.. And sorry to say I didn't enjoy it as much as my kids...

We had a large selection of starters and they were all very greasy and tasteless.

I was in lakeside for a quick shopping spree and being a pizza express fan I thought I would treat myself to a lunch. After being seated it took nearly 20 minutes of asking someone to take my order numerous times to finally ordering. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and at the end of picking out all the brown lettuce leaves, 30% of the lettuce leaves in the end were all brown, two pieces of anchovies, no croutons which I was told would cost me extra, I asked for more dressing because the little cup it came in was only a third filled. I put half the lettuce leaves on the napkin to show the waiting staff but my feedback was brushed off. I waited for 15 minutes to pay bill and decided to walk with my bill to the front to pay however, staff walked past me to seat other diners and ignored me. Worst food and customer service. Shame because I’ve always loved pizza express but my experience in lakeside has always been awful.

Terrible service. Dirty glasses. Dishes not removed from the table we had to move our own onto another table. Main course lasagne served cold in the middle. Massive food poisoning risk. Manager wouldn’t even take it off the bill. Just knocked some money off. He couldn’t really have cared less. Dreadful.

Pizza stone cold and so thin it was like paper and burnt all around the edges and the centre was burnt through !! Rubbish very disappointed

We were in the area and decided to get something to eat from here. The place was quiet and we were shown to a table straight away. We ordered drinks which I had the large peroni which was good. For the main I had the duo ramano which I had the 'duo romana' which I chose 'padana' for one half and the other half 'sloppy giuseppe'. This was good, we didn't have to wait overly long for the food to arrive. Overall the place seemed clean, the person who was serving us was really friendly and helpful. The food was good.

I have tried to call but no one answers, and no where to leave a message to say that items were missing from my delivery. I would like a refund for the missing items asap
