Pizza Express in Solihull

The place was empty and it still took them 40 mins to cook 1 pizza and a garlic bread. We only ordered as it was supposed to take 10 mins. When the food finally came they said there was nothing they could do to make up for the wait.

Thank God that we were able to redeem Tesco clubcard vouchers for our meal or we would have had to leave to eat elsewhere. The charge was £50.00 for a pizza leggere which was nice (but more like a snack portion) and my partner ordered a gluten-free pizza which we thought would be as large as the other pizzas we could see on other tables. We initially thought he’d been served the wrong pizza as it was very small and the protein toppings were very minimal. These pizzas with two drinks were £50.00 which is way overpriced. The order was akso incorrect as my partner ordered 0% alcohol beer and was brought an alcoholic one. We won’t be returning and will stick to Zizzi from now on as they offer gluten-free large pizzas with plenty of protein toppings!

The most stingy pizza I’ve ever seen. I ordered a combo two meat pizza. I actually thought the waitress brought a veggie pizza by mistake. I found three pieces of chicken and the beef was nonexistent. Nearly £50 for two miserly pizzas and two drinks. Never again

Only went in the for hot drinks and desserts, greeted by management, staff members were lovely especially my server called Andrea, I think? We had an nut allergy and that was not an issue. But, just wanted to mention what a great ending to the evening we had at this place 😁

A really enjoyable experience. Staff were lovely, food was quick and a really good portion size. Only waited for the bill & chased an errant dough balls. If I'd have known I could pay via the app, it wouldn't have been an issue. Definitely recommend.

Excellent customer service. Friendly and professional staff. Bit noisy with very loud young girls on next table. Otherwise, perfect. Food was lovely and piping hot. Decent value for money although the drinks were somewhat expensive.

Came with a friend for an early dinner, was asked if I had any allergies, I am coeliac and was given a gluten free menu which was great! After looking over the menu I didn't see as many vegans options as I saw online so asked for a vegan menu as well and was told what on the menu could be made gluten free. I even asked for a recommendation and was told which out of the two options were more popular. The food arrived quickly and was fantastic! The staff were attentive and brought boxes over for left over food and helped us with our student discount as well

I came into pizza express for a nice meal and good service as usual but I was wrong. The food was amazing & enjoyable but the service and wait was appalling. Our dough balls starter took over 20 minutes to arrive when usually it takes half the time and our main meal took around 40 minutes to an hour. This was ridiculous and frustrating as the restaurant was fairly empty. Do better next time. I had higher expectations.

Went on Thursday lunch time, we were dining 2 adults and 1 baby. The restaurant had not long opened. We were the only table in there, the service was brilliant, as a general manager myself in the hospitality industry it was nice to see the staff who was on not just standing around they were deep cleaning. We felt very welcomed the minute we sat down. Nothing seemed too much for the two ladies who were working FOH and the 1 chef BOH. We are regulars to pizza express as my mom is gluten free and they have options available for her, although she would like to see the spaghetti bolognese gluten free back on adults menu, as that was her go to dish.

Large group of us went for our works meal. The food was great. Service was outstanding. Mary our waitress was absolutely brilliant, so attentive and friendly. It can be hard serving a large group but this didn’t phase her. She was brilliant. Thanks Mary!

We’ve being enjoying food at pizza express Solihull for a good few years now and it’s our go to place for pizza. The food is always exceptional as is the service but today was one step even above that. Vickie is the most welcoming manager and after asking how our Xmas had been I mentioned it was our 33rd wedding anniversary. We ordered food which again was delicious and once finished asked for the bill. We were shocked when the young server came with this lovely surprise. Pizza express had also very kindly given us the meal on the house. This was such an unexpected kind gesture and in all the excitement we forgot to tip the server! Something which I will correct Thank you so much Vickie and her team

Visited for lunch on a Saturday and can’t complain. Staff told me about the club and I joined, got free dough balls and a discount. Could also pay on the app which I found handy as well. Very nice food, the portions are slightly smaller than you’d expect for the money though.

Absolutely wonderful adult pizza making party at Pizza Express last night. Hannah our host was a delightful young lady, who couldn’t do enough for us and as for Alex the chef, well he is a superstar too. Fabulous duo and I thoroughly recommend this restaurant as the pizzas are delicious. Ps. The Manageress who’s name I think is Vickie was a fantastic person to deal with too

Cold food, long waiting between ordering and food arriving. Over cooked pasta, cold garlic mushrooms and a freezing restaurant. Not a good evening. Waitress and manager apologetic and got a discount, but still let's the chain down as we weren't the only table having issues. Short staffed shouldn't be customers problem. Same dish in photos, but one was over cooked and with less sauce. 👎

Food was bland and tasteless, Calzone was wet and lacked flavour, defrosted spinach boiled aubergine made the bulk of the watery content inside, halloumi was greasy and it was hard to establish it was actually halloumi, portions overall were small. The only plus was the garlic bread olives and dips. Service was slow and lacked any desire or interest, we were only asked if we enjoyed the food after asking for the bill, after replying no we were met with the response of never mind. £60 for this is just terrible Pizza Express standards have slipped massively and the kids they have working there don’t care….. very disappointing and we will not be choosing to eat there in the future…………………………………… UPDATE I decided to take up the offer to reach out to Vickie the manager, weeks later after two emails sent I have not had a reply. This has only gone to reinforce my opinions of what a sham this place is!!! It would have been better if they had said nothing rather than an empty response to be seen to be addressing what is a pretty poor rating. AVOID THIS BRANCH OF PIZZA EXPRESS TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT

Could do with being a little warmer.

I was in lakeside for a quick shopping spree and being a pizza express fan I thought I would treat myself to a lunch. After being seated it took nearly 20 minutes of asking someone to take my order numerous times to finally ordering. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and at the end of picking out all the brown lettuce leaves, 30% of the lettuce leaves in the end were all brown, two pieces of anchovies, no croutons which I was told would cost me extra, I asked for more dressing because the little cup it came in was only a third filled. I put half the lettuce leaves on the napkin to show the waiting staff but my feedback was brushed off. I waited for 15 minutes to pay bill and decided to walk with my bill to the front to pay however, staff walked past me to seat other diners and ignored me. Worst food and customer service. Shame because I’ve always loved pizza express but my experience in lakeside has always been awful.

Terrible service. Dirty glasses. Dishes not removed from the table we had to move our own onto another table. Main course lasagne served cold in the middle. Massive food poisoning risk. Manager wouldn’t even take it off the bill. Just knocked some money off. He couldn’t really have cared less. Dreadful.

We were in the area and decided to get something to eat from here. The place was quiet and we were shown to a table straight away. We ordered drinks which I had the large peroni which was good. For the main I had the duo ramano which I had the 'duo romana' which I chose 'padana' for one half and the other half 'sloppy giuseppe'. This was good, we didn't have to wait overly long for the food to arrive. Overall the place seemed clean, the person who was serving us was really friendly and helpful. The food was good.

The food was really nice apart from one of the pizzas were quite greasy but the taste was full of flavour. There was a member of staff Asian guy he seemed to be completely lost just walking around, he did wonder over to our table but seemed scared stiff when we asked if we could order some more drinks. He said he would go and ask someone else to take our order for second drinks which I found odd as he was hovering by our table and didn't seem to clear our starters or anything to be honest I was unsure of his purpose there I think he was to. He wondered off to talk to the chef. We flagged a lady down to get some more drinks in the end. The same guy then when we asked for the bill and two boxes to takeaway he then seemed to ask a girl to go and get them to which she just looked at him and advised him where they were as if to say he should get them himself. Was very quiet but apart from the chef who was on point, I'd say the chef could've ran the show on his own he provided more customer service than anyone else by asking if we enjoyed and observing when we needed things which surely shouldn't just be upto him. More training needs to be given to the wondering guys.

absolutely amazing!! we walked in (6 of us) no booking and were seated straightaway. brilliant service. on request they even allowed our 2 children to roll a couple of pizza's!! absolutely brilliant....thank you guys!!!

Avoid. We visited on a quiet Thursday evening. We were sat down quickly and given a menu, that was about as good as it got. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to take our order but we didnt event get eye contact from any of the 3 staff waltzing past us. Another 10 mins had gone by before a staff member said they'll be with us, my two kids were getting a bit agitated by now as was I. Two more groups of people came in while were waiting and when they got served with a smile before us I decided that was it. Off we went to Pizza Hut, who by the way were excellent service wise. Dont waste your time here. There are plenty of other food options around, and if you want pizza, go next door. No dont they'll be a generic 'sorry for your experience' reply, but maybe spend that time training your staff!

I ordered a starter and main dish to arrive at 5.20pm. The 'meal' such as it was arrived at 8.00pm. The tracker gave misinformation about the status. The 'meal" eventually arrived. Soggy bread and scorched lasagne. No apology, no shame. Never again.

We visited a week ago with my husband and toddler. Special shout out to Hannah who was our waitress and was so lovely and attentive. Much better experience than the bullring branch, and food was of a completely different standard (bullring was pretty poor all around)

I came into the store in the evening of Monday we saw one person serving only and were waiting for our food but the waiter was welcoming and kept us informed of the wait which was not an issue to us as the place seemed short staffed. We were extremely happy that the manager brought over a dessert with a candle on it for our daughter which made my day. He took our drinks order straight away which was great as it was a hot day. The only issue i had was the air conditioning considering the weather was hot but overall great experience.

While visiting family Monday last week, I popped in to get a quick bite to eat. The staff were amazing, happy, and chirpy, especially our waitress, vickie. The found was lovely and hot, and when asked what's best for pudding, vickie recommended the brownie.... oh boy, was she right.. Will definitely visit again when visiting family.

We went for lunch with family the food quality was extremely poor. Calamari was burnt margarita pizza was burnt from sides as well. And to top it the service was pathetic the staff was hiding in the corner and not looking after the guests. I literally had to get up and order a couple of times. We went there after long time but only to get disappointed. I am definitely not visiting this place again.

Visited last Saturday before taking my daughter to see Little Mermaid at the cinema, she wanted a pizza so I took her to Pizza express, we were greated at the door by the Manager who sat us at a table, she ask us what our plans were and when I said we were going to cinema she told us that she was going to take her little boy to see that too. A lovely waitress came over and we ordered from the menu my daughter had dough balls, margherita and chocolate brownie from the kids menu. I had Calamari and BBQ burnt ends pizza. Our starters came out in quick time and the manager came over to see if everything was ok. The calamari was cooked just right not over cooked as I've experience in a few other restaurant chains. A short while later around 10mins our mains where brought over, the pizza for my daughter was the right size for her and my pizza was presented lovely. The food was hot and everything you expect from Pizza Express. As someone who works in the hospitality sector is was refreshing to see a Manager take time in making all her customers feel welcomed and valued and taken time to speak to them too. Prior to my visit I had read a few negative reviews but I can honestly say this visit was a wonderful experience and my daughter loved it too. I like to thank the Manager and her team for our visit and I will in the future using the restaurant when I am visiting the shopping centre.

Lovely meal here this evening! Great service. Quick and food tasty. We as a family of 4 had starters and mains and kids had 3 courses. Pollo forza was delicious, buffalo tomato salad and king prawn starter amazing. High quality ingredients. Husband had the calzone which was generously filled. Lovely Rose Prosecco and beer. Fresh, tasty, hot and quick! Felt good value too.

Terrible service by the manager Vicki, the most unhelpful person going and looks down through her nose at you ,I tried to phone her to let her know how disappointed we was ,and she slammed the phone down on us ,I feel she is in the wrong job ,so off putting with her tattoo's

Absolutely disgraceful! We went here on Mother’s Day and got the worst service ever. We had the meal deal and the waiter overcharged us for the full price instead of the deal. Then when questioned it they told us we should have done it on the app instead. At the end he also tried to con us out of our change. Don’t bother going to this appalling excuse of a restaurant! Rude staff and bad service!

Got there at 8ish on a Saturday evening and it was deserted- maybe an indication of the abysmal experience people get here? Service: Quite dismal, not a crack of a smile or any signs of real hospitality from any staff, felt like a burden being there- service was at a snails place too (UK lives up to its reputation for awful service and staff) Food: apart from okay starters (garlic bread and olives) the paneer tikka pizza is a complete gimmick with not an inch of paneer cooked tandoori style which is what the menu purports it to be. The romana pizza was half decent and the only reason I give it one more star (wish I could give none) Drink: WARM beer, disgusting. At least give me a cold one, is that so much to ask? Never again.

The pizza was nice, the leggera was nice, children's pepperoni pizza found it very dry, so my child left it, but the cheese and tomato pizza was alot soft which was finished. The kids had dough balls which they enjoyed and ate the salad that came with it. Cucumbers could of been cut think too chunky. Just was a shame they had limited children's menu. A bit disappointed when we took out desert home for the kids as hardly anything inside the big boxes. They could do a bit more being half term. Very nice staff and friendly. Worth a visit in Touchwood Branch.

Lovely evening meal today. A particular mention to the chef team, who accommodated my request for little changes to the pizza I ordered and delivered it exactly as I like it! I had a negative experience at this shop unfortunately. I went out with my friend sky and we decided to eat at pizza express . We stood outside waiting and no one came to show us to our table despite their having staff present. Afterwards, we ordered a pizza which was Luke warm there was barely any tomato paste and had an excessive amount of cheese on some parts . Anyway we ate our food paid and left . We believe we have food poisoning from your food as to the fact early ours if the morning my friend and I experienced sickness and upset stomachs and our friends that didn’t eat here didnt suffer from any illness

We had arrived on Sunday evening with my husband and was promptly seated by a young lovely lady, who seemed like the only waiter working. Our drinks were brought swiftly and so was the food. The food was excellent and the waiter with the name Italy on her card had given us also excellent service. She recommended for us to get the app but it took too long to download. Definitely will come back again!

This evening I went with my son to eat at Pizza express. I wish to thank the lovely polite young waitress, and the manager. I apologise for not getting both your names. We had a pleasant evening, as we do every Monday. Thank you both for making our evening, and will be returning.

Came here with my family & what a let down, horrible food, unprofessional staff, the waitress actually delivered our drinks whilst on the phone…..good job I get a student discount as otherwise it would of been a £100 meal!!!!!! Will not be returning.

Food came barely warm, pasta undercooked. Told the member of staff the pasta was undercooked, they took it away and when they returned it the pasta was burnt on top. Food left untouched as was uneatable. First time eating here, won’t be returning. Staff were polite hence the two stars.

We always enjoy eating out here. Good variety on the menu. Excellent pizza, well cooked. Worth saving room for dessert, again excellent. Staff are friendly and attentive. I’ve been using the app which is good, rewards loyalty.

Food is OK, although have tasted better at other pizza express restaurants. Some of the staff were friendly enough, but others including the manager just can't be bothered. I assume he was the manager since he was the one wearing a shirt as opposed to the branded t-shirts. The manager brought the food to our table, didn't bother asking who had ordered each meal and just started putting the plates down - incorrectly. He then swapped them around when this was pointed out and went to walk off immediately without asking if we'd like any else. I didn't even have any cutlery to use since I'd already used that on my starter. When guests left other tables - some were cleaned - the rest were left for over an hour with all the used plates and leftovers on. They still had not been cleaned when we left later. Not sure if certain people clear certain tables, it might depend since a few were done. Normally you'd hope the manager would train the staff correctly in customer service etc., but in this case looks more like regional or head offices need to train this guy instead otherwise they will lose business. I can't see how this one survived the lockdown and other far better pizza express restaurants were closed (e.g. park gate Shirley which was excellent). The reason I'm giving 2 stars is a small number of the staff were fairly good - just let down by the rest really...

Amazing service, wait time was minimal and food tasted great! Our waitress (and part chef) Courtney was a life saver and extremely helpful considering the blazing heat!

Food was quite average. Very limited vegetarian options. Missed the main topping on our pizza and served with only onion and mushrooms!! Service was poor too considering there were only 5 tables occupied at the time!

We booked a birthday party for our little girl and many of her friends. The staff was very helpful, the party very well organized and kids absolutely loved it.

Rude and patronising behaviour from staff. I’m visibly a 19 year old who is fairly small for their age but still obviously looks my age. First time I went they asked if I wanted a kids menu and second time I went we sat down and they put colouring books and crayons on the table and when I said I was old enough they asked me ‘oh really are you sure?’. How rude! Just because I’m small doesn’t mean you should treat me like I’m under 10. This place needs to base “kids” on actual kids not just smaller people!! Will not be returning as their behaviour has ruined both times. Table was dirty, and there was crayons on the floor next to us (hazard) and the glass screen was dirty - showing how hygienic they are. It took ages to be seated as there were about 3 staff on, but still very quiet in the restaurant. The one star is for the service which was very fast.

Food took very long to come out even though the restaurant was practically empty, only one other table with customers. Mushroom starter wasn’t cooked properly , actually felt sick when I came home. The padana pizza was nice though. Rasberry drink had no taste and was so disappointing!

We have been to several pizza express restaurants, this was the first in Solihull and the last, after a long wait when my husbands pizza came out it was the wrong one, he kept it because we had already waited ages however mine was sloppy and had to go back in the oven, it sill wasn't great I should have asked for a new one but by then I couldn't be bothered, no customer service, had to ask for the bill then ask again to actually pay, the staff just were uninterested it was really disappointing.

We have had a lovely meal and the service from Ellen was fantastic! The new pizza with the bbq sauce is amazing! Ellen was really welcoming with our 5 year old going above and beyond!!

I'm a regular at this restaurant, service is always impeccable and swift, the environment is calm and pizzas are great. I recommend it.

Avoid! Terrible service and unhelpful staff. Arrived for a 7pm booking on time to find out table seemed to have been given away. We had to wait an extra fifteen mins and then we were sat at the back of the restaurant in a separate area that was a complete mess and looked like a staff area. From our seats we were sat next to the kitchen and a table full of washed plates and glasses! On top of this we had a slow service and staff didn't clear our plates after courses so we were left with a table full of mess whilst eating!! After our meal we sat for twenty minutes waiting to pay, in the end we had to physically walk up to the staff counter to get thier attention. If this wasn't enough they again forgot to come over with the card machine after! Won't be visiting again.

A good place, clean and welcoming. I recommend the pesto dough balls and the devil's pizza, very flavoursome. But what made it really nice was the attentive staff, always helpful and smart. They were the ones that made all the difference.

The pizza was over priced at £13.99 each and so thin they were a soggy mess, with very few toppings. To make matters worse I tried to pay the bill with a gift card that had their logo on it and they refused to take it, leaving me to pay whole over priced bill for food and surroundings I didn't enjoy.

Very quick on pick up takeaway order, gave me somewhere nice to sit. Ingredients were great and pizza tasted gourmet and delicious. Highly recommend for posh(ish) pizza.

Just ordered from deliveroo.. Pesto Pasta for £12 (£ 15 altogether with delivery charges) . Too small a serving for £15 hardly size of the starter leaving me still very hungry .. pasta burnt and stick to the bottom and the sides, pesto and cheese sauce lateralised to one side; so when you start to eat from the other side tasted totally bland, chicken used miserly, 1 or 2 bits.. very disappointed. I have had it in restaurant before last year when I remember it to be much better... Quality if food and packaging and Quantity both gonedown. Drastically

Friday 11th February about 2.00pm. Certainly wasnt service with a smile or any sort of enthusiasm from the staff, very slow, dirty cutlery, poor experience all round, food was ok. Need to up your game Solihull!!
