Pizza Express - Esher in Elmbridge

Pizza Express is typically a safe option but this time it just fell short. Pizzas were ok (not great) but the service was poor (got the bill wrong twice….both times in their favour….mmm). Also the cost now is just getting too high for what is fairly simple food. Sadly many better options in the area for pizzas…..

Came lastnight for the valentines meal. I arrived 15 minutes early but when arriving I did say sorry I am early and the front of house waitress replied by saying I can see that not that I can turn you away is it because your here which was rude!!!!! The waiter was nice blonde gentleman however seemed new and no one came to take our drinks order for 20 minutes so we were just sitting there. Service was poor waited a very long time for plates to be taken and to be asked if we wanted a drink. Asked for a pot of sauce with my meal which came towards the end of the meal which was pointless. As it’s an open planned kitchen, the lady chief was eating and did not her wash her hands which is disgusting! Overall it was terrible experience seen as the restaurant was not busy at all. Wouldn’t return

After a fab afternoon at Esher Jump-In the kids wanted to eat at Pizza Express. We normally go to Walton but as we were in Esher decided to visit that branch. Big Mistake. Huge. We were a group of 2 adults and 6 kids. The first thing that was said to us after asking for a table was - “well you should have booked” “next time book”. This was said by the tall blonde lady who was the branch manager. This was at 5:45pm on a Tuesday - there were 2 tables with customers. The restaurant was dead considering this was during half term. Our order was taken by a male waiter- who didn’t seem to be too happy. Food was fine. Walton branch is much better. The dessert was ordered for the kids after they had their meal and was brought out by the same waiter. He dashed the spoons on the table for the kids to help themselves. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. We asked for the bill and on realising that we didn’t pay any service charge, the same male waiter also dashed the bill on the table. This was by far the rudest and most appalling behaviour I have come across. No consideration for the fact that we were there with kids. Both staff members had miserable faces and not once did they smile or have banter. Worst customer service. I would never visit this branch ever again. I just hope that these staff members realise that they work in hospitality for which customer service is key! Do not waste your time and money going into this branch. Visit Walton instead!!

Consistently good over the years and yet still exciting. That's a hard act to pull off!

As a black person, I always heard that Italians are racist terrible people which I didn’t want to Beli but this place has further proven that to me. The first thing I heard when I got there is shouting from a mid age munter who shouted “YES” and while I was seated somewhere I saw how she delightful and welcoming with the other customers who are mainly white. The food itself doesn’t worth the money as I ordered Fiorentena pizza which was £15 and a can of lemonade for £4. Don’t recommend it at all. The pizza has barely got a cheese on it with around 5 pieces of olives and the can of lemonade can be bought from the corner shop for around 30p. Nice decor though.

Whoever was filling up the takeaway pots of garlic butter at pizza express esher on 4th Jan 2024 at 7.30. Shame on you. Couldn’t be less stingy if u tried.

Service was good but the pizza I had wasn't great but the others enjoyed their food.

Staff are really friendly and helpful. Food was delicious as always.

Evening out with friends. Waiter brought the wrong wine, after tasting realised it was incorrect, told waiter and he said oh thought you asked for ,,, Went to get correct wine, came back saying they had run out, picked another wine. Few other issues but food ok When bill came the original wine plus the replacement was on there. If he thought I asked for a different wine why was it on bill at the top. Were they trying to palm it off

We came in and we’re served by Mo. Had some issues with what was available but he made everything easy for us and was very friendly, great service . The food was very good as well. Staff and food a lot better than the other Pizza Express’ in the area.

First time in Esher and getting a delicious pizza here was a great way to spend the evening! Lovely food and we had a really nice guy called Mo serve us. I definitely recommend this restaurant and hope you have a friendly waiter like Mo serve you!

Booked in advance to avoid disappointment. Wasn't necessary as was empty on a Tuesday lunchtime. We where hungry after a morning of veg and strawberry picking at garsons farm. We had starters which where devoured completely. 🐽🤣. We all had pizza 🍕 😋 also scoffed with enthusiasm 😋. Lots of refreshing soft drinks. All done and dusted within an hour. Bish bash bosh. 🥳. We where looked after very well by the staff, and everything arrived at our table promptly. 😀 very nice lunchtime experience with my daughter and her sons. ❤️ 🥳🥸🥳🍕🥗🥤

Food was really delicious, esp pizzas. We tried 3 different kinds of pizzas and some pastas, all were really good. The best was the beef pizza.

Good food but not as atmospheric as some other venues.

I went to pizza express today and was served by a lady called Jazz. Incredibly happy with the care and attention i received. Nothing was to much trouble. I love pizza express i have there app and have made my way to Gold status meaning i get great deals. The food is incredible i get romana hot which is thinner and crispier. I am never disappointed by pizza express the food is great and by far the best pizza locally.

The service is always hit and miss here but the pizzas are excellent quality. Luck of the draw who serves you - sometimes super friendly and others like they’re doing you a favour. I’d still rate the place five stars because the food is excellent and the good staff shouldn’t be dragged down by the staff that couldn’t care less. Chop the bad staff and this place would be brilliant.

We had a lovely meal here and the temporary manager Farook was so friendly and helpful, we had a long chat with him. The meal was lovely as always!!

We stopped by for dinner. We shared the honey chilli doughballs and each ordered a pizza - bbq burnt ends and the funghi pizza. The Funghi pizza was delicious, burnt ends less so. Honey chilli dough balls were tasty, I would order those two vegetarian options again.

Our server was knowledgeable., helpful and chatty.she made our dinning experience very pleasant . The pasta was a little over cooked and the zuchinni soggy. Bu t it was hot with plenty of sauce. Left out capers and added prawns. Very clean resturant and loo.

My main issue with Pizza Express is that it is such poor value for money. The pizzas are not particularly good quality, and small portions, yet the prices are double competitors that make much better pizza such as Franco Mancas. At this restaurant our server was the most miserable waiter, never smiled at all, and was not friendly in any way.

Customer Service was Tremendous! However I was concerned when a Man Wearing a Black Suit Arrived, with his Family. He looked very Shifty. He had to dash to the toilet. (I was concerned about his Bowels) He then returned looking sweaty, and flustered. His Daughter Seemed to be Concerned. Staff were very Attentive to his needs. Polite, and Courteous. So in Summary, I'd like to amend my review to 5 Star.

The food was pretty much the same as most other branches but it just took sooooo looooooooooong for food to arrive. 50 minutes for mains to appear.

I rang ahead and spoke with a lady, I think it was Liz, expressed that I would order through a delivery company but wanted bbq base. She kept an eye out for my order and made it happen! Someone with common sense is the best employee a big chain can get. Thank you and also very tasty as per usual

Food took a while to come bad burnt doughballs. Took ages to serve us and take our order and then double that time to give us the bill.

Always good at pizza express in Esher

Such a helpful friendly waitress who really helped put the kids at ease, table of 8 so plenty of demands met with a smile and prompt service. Food was delicious. My Pollo Ad Astra pizza was perfect tasty and just enough spice. American Hot is a firm favourite too. My son loved his Dynamite Dough Balls. My calamari was perfectly done too. Sticky toffee cake was generous and cheesecake was absolutely delicious. What's not to like! Especially as my dear brother picked up the bill :-)

Really good with kids - great value menu and colouring too. Pizza was decent, service was good.

Food ace, but Service service service

Ordered a pizza for sit in in Boxing Day, it was burned round the outside, when we mentioned it the young waiter said he would have a word with the chef, but we didn’t get any further response, and no money was deducted from the bill.

lovely food but terrible service from our waiter. he was very rude straight from the beginning. shouted at us for asking about a discount and he was unpleasant for no reason.

Very disappointed with the male server today not only was he rude from the start but he also had a go at me and my friend when we asked about student discount code. It’s a shame as the food was great and we’ve gone there before with no issues.

Not much open on a bank holiday. So got takeaway from here. Staff seemed disinterested and unorganised. Food was not great. Totally regretting not getting a frozen meal at the convenience store instead. £27 for an average pizza and a terrible lasagne. Do not recommend.

Great job by the staff. We met some friends here with children and it was perfect. Good food that came impressively promptly- even after our waitress had warned us if staff shortages. Restaurant is lovely inside and in a nice location. Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

Another bad experience. Came on a Wednesday afternoon at 1 pm with the children I nanny for as well as another nanny and her children. We wanted to do two different bills but the blonde manager wouldn’t let us. She was a very rude to her young boy colleague. We ended up having to separate tables so that we would be able to get different bills as it was our nanny families that were paying for the bills so needed separate receipt. We waited around 30 minutes before someone took our order which again was that the woman manager who again looked and presentable and was a very rude to us. After two bad explain Which is manager I am thinking of going to different pizza express from now on. I’ve heard from repeated people about how rude this woman has been since being there.

Good food, exactly what you expect from pizza express, have a seat by the window and watch the posh cars at the traffic lights.

Great meal with the family, lovely staff. The dough balls and dips are a must. Will need to try their dessert next time

The blonde manager was Extremely rude and has bad service. We waited 25min before being asked for a drink then another 30min for food order. There was only two other table in restaurants so wasn’t busy as was around 2pm just after lunch rush. I am shocked at her service and rudeness

This a review from a child's view I did not like the food and the service was just bad they missed 3 things we ordered of course that was the workers but in feel they could hire more able people for frankly the one of the most important jobs and the still lemonade was horrible even after putting water and some fanta in it still tasted horrific I would not recomwd going there as you heard the very valid and honest protest I have made and again this is a child's review so there is no one side but if you do go there which I hope you don't just get dough balls there the only thing that's decent

Gluteen free pizza ok but lactose free cheese was barely on pizza. Seemed like about 4small pieces if bacon a very few musshhrooms3olives. And tomatopaste on tiny base 13.45. Not impressed. I need cheese but no Lactose. Felt ripped off as literally zero cheese

I love pizza express and this one is a new favourite. The food was lovely as expected and the service was beyond what I’d expect. All the staff I conversed with were lovely but I’d like to give a big shout out to the blonde manager who was so welcoming and gave us a VIP experience without us having to pay for silver service. She went above and beyond and you could see this is more than just a job and something she is truly passionate about. It was very clear it was rubbing off on the other staff members. So thank you pizza express Esther for a beautiful dining experience, we will be coming back very soon!!

Food was okay. Pizzas weren't the best quality and the waitress didn't know what a Pimm's was- seemed undertrained. They were all very friendly though and the drink was very nice once it was made.

Ordered a take away pizza came uncut cold and almost raw worst pizza I’ve ever had and to top it waitress sad it’s in oven when I arrived and waited 25 minutes !! safe your money and go elsewhere!!! After checking there reviews it’s seems they only reply to good comments very poor I will be contacting head office

Very enjoyable pre cinema dins, maybe a little pricey for casual dining but the food is consistently good, and the staff are well trained...

Terrible experience at Esher Pizza Express Manager extremely poor if staff make a mistake it is for Pizza Express to resolve it and not expect the customer to pay for something that they didn’t order next’s time I go for a pizza it will be somewhere that you feel want your custom 1/10

They had no idea manager clueless, if staff make an error it is for pizza express to resolve it not the consumer. I would speak to your area manager with the review in going back and doing the management training again especially the consumer law bit. By the looks of other reviews there is a pattern emerging.. 1/10

Stop for quick lunch here, ordered margarita with mushrooms requested it to be cut garlic bread and some drinks, simple. Glasses where dirty finger prints everywhere and they looked merky! I drank out the bottle my wife bought some straws and drankfrom bottle. Garlic bread was tasteless no garlic butter...pizza came out un-cut? So l asked the guy serving, "l asked for it to be cut as we are sharing"...Well the face was as like 🙄 l have to go back again!! Shouldn't a pizza just be sliced as that's how its eaten? No extra plates either ended up getting them myself.

The food was good, but the service was shocking. Probably one of the only times in my life I haven’t left a tip. And the toilets were disgusting. Staff were rude, unfriendly and very disappointing.

Having to slice the pizza after requesting it be cut as you would have thought a pizza company would slice a pizza. Came luke warm too. The only way the food comes satisfactory is if you sit in. No regard for the T/A orders.

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of my lunch in Esher. I popped in for some quick lunch, as I was with my one year old who was sleeping, whilst waiting to get picked up 40 minutes later. The lady was professional attentive & polite. I mentioned I fancied broccoli, so she recommended something new on the menu 'the Leggera Quattro Verdure' and boy it did not fail to impress. Thank you for the recommendation Leggera Quattro Verdure is a must try.

Waited 40 minutes for a starter before being told our order hadn't gone through. Staff,and there were lots, were disinterested and indifferent. Management noticeable by its absence. The chefs were very busy doing take away orders. The place has lots of uncleared tables and litter on the floor. No one cared. Recommend Hampton Court branch!

It's a pizza express. I mean, they haven't exactly reinvented the wheel, but it is a reasonably priced, decent-quality pizza in a clean place where they have a children's menu. Staff very friendly.

Very nice, had a range of beers available for the underage! Will come back.

Food great Waitresses lovely Unfortunately the service was very slow due to understaffing We attended at 5.30pm with two children under 6. We were there for 2 hours 15 minutes which was too long for our children’s age group to tolerate and for a pizzeria that markets itself as express. It was difficult to get waitresses attention between courses so there was a wait for about 20 minutes between courses. That’s fine if we were all adults but the children got bored so the meal became stressful. At the end we had to stand up and put our coats on before we were able to get anyone to give us our bill as they were so busy

Had the loveliest waitress when my boyfriend and I came for lunch yesterday. We got two lots of free dough balls with a discount code and two absolutely amazing pizzas! We will be coming back again asap!

Get a website that actually works and let you order things! Tried to order. Time slot wasn’t available. Sent me back to start of process twice and wiped payment details each time. Then have up.

Always have a good experience when I visit here, always clean, food is great and the staff are always super friendly and polite.

We went to to pizza express on a nice Friday afternoon and was met by server Amy who was very welcoming. We were allowed choose our seats and the choice was great from the clean table and soft chairs hat was on offer. We were given ample time to choose our food. Amy was polite and patient. I did like the food that was served it came pipping hot and the salad was fresh in taste, This restaurant had all the covid measures in place even though we should be ending in a month or two,.. All in all the restaurant, the staff, and the experience was great and all very nice meal out for over many months,. Well done, Amy well done pizza express. I will definitely come back again

Delicious pizza and great service

I posted a few weeks ago in FB the pics of food I got from Pizza Express... It was disgusting, I do not understand who can eat this sh.t... You want Italian pizza: Stone, Al Forno, Trust Crust.. Honestly... That's a massive No to food from Pizza Express. Staff.. Not wearing masks, very rood (Kingston branch). Again awful place and food.

Staff were really friendly and helpful

We had a nice meal but they forgot to bring our starter out before the main course came. They apologised and gave us our starters, remade our pizza and gave us £25 voucher as an apology. Mistakes happen and a nice touch instead of us having to complain.

Order was slightly wrong, and my mum spilt her wine on me!! Apart from that, lovely!

Fab service, social distancing. Lots of tables not allowed to use. Lovely fresh pizzas, relaxed atmosphere. Sanitising station at front door. Very clean restaurant.

Trying to enjoy a bank holiday Monday with the kids so ordered some pizzas from Pizza express esher, called through as pizzas arrived cold, soggy, undercooked, the worse I’ve ever seen or tasted. I called the shop and spoke to the manager who had zero empathy for what I was saying, just ranting away without offering to resolve my concerns. I tried to get a word in to explain the pizzas taste peppery, along with the fact no love or car has been given in preparation, she said she is very busy and the chefs can’t give love or care. I’m sorry if you can’t make pizza properly just don’t, the food is disgusting and we are throwing it all away in the bin. On the pizza you can clearly see pepper. My kids told me, my wife confirmed by tasting it as she hates pepper but the manager did not believe me. Just kept telling me to call Deliveroo, despite the fact they are the ones who made this horrible food. I’d give this minus 5 stars for food quality, customer service, quality and standards. Looks like a 5 year old could have made better at home. Talk about cutting corners pizza express, and using coronviris as an excuse to provide poor food. Disgusting all round. Stark contrast to last week when I had hot cooked nice pizzas. Instead of looking for excuses accept you got it wrong and offer to fix it.

I visited pizza express recently and was disappointed to see that the staff did not wear face masks or visors. Enjoyed the meal and service was excellent.
