Pizza Express in Elmbridge

We've been going to Pizza Express for over 20 years but the last time we went was truly shocking. Waited over 30 minutes to have our order taken, then another 20 for half the starters to arrive. They totally forgot my starter which I had to have with my main course. Which arrived burnt, tasteless, lacking in toppings and overall just poor. Had it not been my father's 80th birthday, we would have walked out immediately. Won't be going back. Staff are absolutely clueless, overworked and understaffed and is blatantly obvious to the customers.

I have not been to Pizza Express in 5 years, but recently I was exhibiting in Esher and stayed in the Ship Hotel at Weybridge. Pizza Express was opposite so myself and 5 colleagues booked a table at 7pm. We looked at the menu and ordered a variety of food. The waitress was very pleasant , helpful and courteous. The food was tasty although 7 Polenta chips for £6.50 seemed excessive. There was no option for normal chips ? The food was tasty and hot and really hit the spot. At this point I must explain the reason for the low score ! We were tired and had a few beers and enjoyed letting our hair down after a very busy day. One of my party took a kids colouring picture and some crayons, putting in front of our youngest colleague, joking that he should draw a picture. It was a bit of fun. The Deputy Manager came over immediately and almost shouted at the table; "These are for children" and snatched the crayons and paper off the table with a thunderous look on her face and stormed off. Our waitress apologized and retrieved the crayons and paper and placed them on the table, understanding it was a bit of fun. This time the deputy manager appeared again and repeated her rant, before we had chance to say anything, repeating her rant. We were not acting loudly, we were not 'drunk', we were simply relaxing and the deputy manager spoiled the atmosphere. We intended to order dessert, after dinner drinks and relax further, but after our run in with this rude lady we decided to leave. The food was great, our waitress was awesome but the reactions to some simple fun by the deputy manager was harsh, rude and disrespectful.

Food was excellent as expected. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our early dinner. Not too busy when we went so really nice

We had a return visit after an appalling previous visit The greatest asset Pizza Express Weybridge has is Monica she personally transformed our Pizza Express experience from our last visit with non working young staff just looking at each other Monica was charming efficient and delightful an absolute super star thank you We also must mention the gentleman waiter who has been at Weybridge a while and is always fantastic but on holiday on our last visit! Can’t see this pizza express lasting much longer. Not consistent with the usual product. Won’t be back. Shame that this brand is suffering

We’ve been going to this restaurant for years and years, but unfortunately this seems to be another business that has gone downhill since the pandemic. Tonight there was hardly anybody in there and yet service was appalling. We waited ages for someone to take our orders, the olives we’d requested to nibble on before the meal were forgotten about (until we reminded the waitress), and the pizzas themselves took ages to arrive, and only turned up after we complained. We sat there hungry, watching staff pack box after box of takeout and deliveries. In fact, I think this restaurant, being small, should forget about in-house dining and concentrate on deliveries, because that’s all they seem to care about. Anyway, I’m never going back.

We used to visit Pizza Express regularly with our children, but as they grew up we stopped going. Popped in early today, about 5pm, for quick supper and were reminded how good the pizzas are. We had the padana and the BBQ meat crispy base pizzas. Lovely. Very tasty. Glass of house merlot. Lovely. The man who welcomed us and served our table was friendly. Noisy children in the restaurant, but to be expected for early evening. We will return.

Food didn't come for 1h and 45 mins. The waiter said the food would come 2 mins ago,it's been 20mins

Welcomed with a smile, a sense of humour and politeness by a charming young lady by the name of Bianca. Attentive, efficient, polite and even while busy, had time to communicate!

Been here many times with grandchildren, who love the food and environment. This time with 2 boys. They had dough ball starters, then adult pizzas, which they finished. Ended with chocolate fondant shared. Licked the plate clean. Very kid friendly and good value for money

I needed a VAT receipt for my dinner so that I could claim back on expenses. I didn't realise until after I had left that I was given the wrong one and thus fell approx £4 short of what I actually paid, and I included a tip. The Bruschetta was okay. I had the Bolognese for mains. I felt that there were too many fennel seeds in the bolognese and it wasn't as good as it could have been. Desert was fudge cake with mascarpone. This was the highlight.

I ordered takeaway and the pizza came practically stuck to the bottom with all the toppings off. The dough balls looked like they had been cut in half. Not impressed

I have eaten at the Pizza Express on two occasions and have found the staff friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent on both occasions and I would recommend the Pizza Express for any informal, 'meet and eat,' with friends and family.

We were prebooked as a party of 4 adults and 3 young children for early evening dinner. Most other tables were also taken with families and children, so it was noisy! Service was quick and helpful. The children had their colouring pens and puzzle sheets,...

I had Pollo pasta and my husband superfood salad. Both meals were delicious. Waiter was very polite and efficient. Got our drinks straight away, starters came quick too. Never disappointed at this pizza express. Will be back again soon.

The pizza is delicious,unfortunately the lemon and herbs wings (new starter) were a let down..dough balls were nice as usual.

I booked for my daughter and 5 friends to celebrate her 15th birthday together.

We went there on Christmas Eve for lunch, quiet time in the afternoon, the staff was prompt and nice. We had garlic dough balls and pizzas, as good as ever and the leggera salad, sort of energy food ingredients, which could be tastier.

This is one of the nicer Pizza Express Branches and the atmosphere is very good. Their thin and crispy American Hot Pizza was to die for and there cheese cake desert cant be faulted..

As always the food at Pizza Express was delicious. The service was a bit slow but our waitress was rushed off her feet - this didn't prevent her from being friendly and helpful at all times.

My Daughter has had her party with Pizza Express 2 years running now last year was with Walton this year with Weybridge , It went perfectly & she enjoyed every minute !

Honestly its a rip off - the quality of the portions in this branch are poor - it relies upon lots of local school um and kids trips - waiter we had was weird and had an attitude! Chertsey branch is better!

Should've tried the pizza. Instead chose lasagne and cannelloni. Tasted like ready meals. Yuk! Coffee was fine, as was the service.

I’ve reviewed this branch before as it’s our local pizza express. The food has always been what you expect but not this time. No gluten free dough balls early on a Friday evening was disappointing so I chose mozzarella and tomatoes, the plate was hot and the cheese almost had a crust to it. I can only guess that our cold starters had been left under the heat lights on the pass. Pizza was ok, nothing else to say although I still find it disappointing that the gluten free base is so small particularly up against my friends Romano pizza! Our wine had sediment which we hadn’t seen until the last pouring of the bottle....yuck. And then to our waitress, an older lady who was miserable and actually quite rude when it came time to pay the bill, she did herself out of the tip that frankly hadn’t been earned at all anyway ( I always tip well normally). It turns out my friend dining had the same waitress the week before when dining with her daughter and she thought she was less miserable this week!!!

Visited here for an early dinner. Had a voucher for a free bottle of Prosecco. Very nice food as always, excellent service and friendly.

Having eaten at Pizza Express in Southampton only two days before we were immediately aware that prices here were considerably higher, a fact confirmed by a staff member who said that both Chertsey and Walton on Thames were cheaper.

Kids love it there. Always a winner and service is always good too. Recently refurbed and looks and feels good

I visited here on a Friday evening with a friend. We didn’t have a reservation and it was quite busy but we were able to get a table easily enough. We had the 3 courses for £13.95 deal which was very good value and the food was fine. The only things that let it down, no salt on any of the tables - you shouldn’t need to ask for it, and more importantly (and oddly?!) I asked for mayonnaise only to be told they do not serve it! Disappointing. For value for money though it was brilliant, can’t get much cheaper for three courses.

We went at lunch and were pleased with the location and service. You know what you get with Pizza express but we have had some bad pizzas previously-not so here though and it was all made perfectly. Recommended.

We had just been to the school play & all very hungry which rounded the eve off just lovely.Karen took our order for 2 kids & 2 adults.We also had gluten free dough balls & Margherita pizza,(Kids size), dough ball, Classic American, Romana Soho 65 & Legg Polla Astra without tomatoes.It was all very yummy.Good choice on the menu. Thank you. Would recommend, but wise to book luckily we got a table.

We enjoyed our meal with my husband, especially I was pleasantly surprised by the sharing platter - it was very good value and delicious!

I used to frequent Pizza Express with my family often but in recent years we just don't enjoy it anymore. The food and staff just aren't what they used to be. Its a shame as this used to be my favourite restaurant in Weybridge.

Visited Sunday evening at about 7.00pm. On entry no one greeted us and we were left standing by the door. After a few minutes a passing waitress directed us to a seat. After 5 minutes menus presented and drink order taken. It was 40 minutes after arrival that our food came. Nothing wrong there - as expected. However chaos reigned in the restaurant. People waiting at the door to be greeted. Some turned around and left. Tables not cleared for up to 20 minutes after being vacated. Two tables returned food to the kitchen. Luckily I was paying cash as the electronic payment system wasn't working. Overall impression was that no one seemed to care. We will not return.

We like Pizza Express, but so often the larger restaurants are crowded and noisy, but not this one when we visit. I have to confess we visit once a year and have done so for the last 5 or 6 years, on our way home from our annual visit to the RHS Flower Show at Hampton Court Palace. It's a tiring day there and we welcome the stopover at this branch of Pizza Express. It has to be one of the smaller ones that we visit, but one of the best for service. The food is always good and we found this year that it was even more friendly and proficient. Sadly, we don't go down that part of the country at other times of the year, otherwise we would be more frequent visitors.

Went there for a nice Saturday evening meal and were served by Razart who brought our starter and drinks within five minutes of arriving, main courses within ten minutes of starter being cleared, and desserts within five minutes of placing order. He was friendly, attentive and the food was also excellent.

Visited on a Saturday night, ordered a last minute takeaway and then decided to sit in to eat. Wonderful service and very accommodating for the late change in plans. The staff were absolutely brilliant, kind, happy and friendly. Thanks for a great meal.

We visit this pizza express quite a bit as its a central point for my family. The service is always great and good value for money. Food is of high quality and you know what your getting each time!

Visited with my wife on a Saturday evening. It was fairly busy but service was good. We had booked a table and it was ready for us on arrival. Staff were pleasant and helpful in explaining the menu, and the food was tasty and enjoyable. We used vouchers for starter and main courses which helped with the bill.

Not the first time to have visited this Pizza ExpressBasically Its just another Pizza Chain ( AKA Milanos ) ...Pizza is good albeit a little greasy from using cheap cheese but lets hope its not cheese analogue... Good selection of wine , although not great value for money.Staff are very friendly and helpful , the place is clean and looks to be well run.

Used to have a great atmosphere and the staff were always very friendly. But a change in management and staff, has resulted in a downhill spiral, with a lot of the old favourite pizzas no longer available and grumpy staff. We have hoped to see an improvement, but the last three visits have all been disappointing. Used to be a fun place to eat with your family, but needs to improve significantly, if it is to get its old mojo back.

We have been to Pizza express in Weybridge many times but this time our visit was the worse ever and very quick because we haven't been served at all, we sat down by the table and waited for 10 minutes to be served but no one came to see us and we didn't even been given menus. There was manager and his assistant around and yet we were ignored, we decided to leave and no one came to ask what happened!

I visited your restaurant yesterday to what became a terrible experience within itself from begging until the end! Firstly as a customer I expect better service especially being within a well known food chain as yourselves. I was approached by a member of your staff who had terrible attitude which was very clear to see they didn't want to be there! Waited over 30 minutes for our food to arrive.. my friend then was trying to make many attempts to approach your staff member who of which clearly to see choose to totally ignored us. instead thought it was far more important to stand around with other members of staff talking very loudly in a foreign language which begin to disrupt our experience even more as well as affecting other customers around me. The only apology I received during this whole period was when one of your other colleagues (younger waitress) approached us to see if we were ok, and went to check where our food was and assisted us further to solve our problems . If it wasn't for this member of staff fixing our problems we would have walked our before our food even arrived due to the service and experience being very low standards! Also when I queried my bill...This specific women i dealt with from the beginning didn't explain your charity promotion at all, apart from replying 'you don't want to pay it then' that certainly wasn't my question or the way to be answered!!From this experience it has opened my mind a lot wither to use your restaurant again certainly this branch!

I had previously booked a table for six of us to attend this restaurant when visiting my parents. We entered the restaurant and waited for a table; no one took any notice of us and so I went and found a waiter to explain we had a table booked. He was not interested and said, 'go sit in the window'; the same 'could not really be bothered attitude' we received all evening. We waited for 50 minutes for our pizzas to arrive (this was at 4.30 in the afternoon with only about 6 other tables occupied) which were just put in the nearest spot on the table for us to circulate between ourselves. Our plates were just collected in silence with no 'did you enjoy your meal? Could I get you anything else?' from a different waiter. When we finally got to dessert, the menus were dropped on the table, again without a word, and we were left to look at them. When taking our order my mother was given a choice of cream or ice cream. I ordered my dessert and was given no choice of accompaniment, which my husband queried, and I was then reluctantly given the choice of cream, ice cream or marscapone. I requested marscapone. When mine arrived it was served with cream as the waiter, when taking my order, was too busy watching another family enter the restaurant rather than listening to us. After spending £135 I would have expected a more gratuitous service. However, rather than leave a tip of cash my tip would be don't bother to go to this pizza express if you want friendly service as it will not be forthcoming - go somewhere that deserves your custom instead and have a more pleasurable meal.

Menu prices are ridiculous so always download the voucher. Varied menu, all pretty good. Our service was great. reliable place to go with the kids but this place is popular with couples and friends. Nice ambiance

There were 5 of us and we were seated straight away without a reservation, although it was a Monday evening. Our waiter, Pawl, was fantastic. He listened to our order with care and attention and attended our every need. The food was probably better that our usual Pizza Express, although the new chilli lamb pizza could do with more mint and chilli to the meat balls, but overall we all enjoyed our evening. Used the Tesco vouchers and saved ourselves £80.00!! Great evening.

On a Saturday night when we didn't have a reservation for a restaurant in Weybridge, we decided to just have a pizza and salad at pizza express. It was crowded and noisy but we got a table. Placed our order with a friendly and efficient waitress and got our order in no time at all. The pizza and salad were good and overall this was a relaxing experience.

Great gluten free options and lovely staff. Shame about the slow service, have never had this issue before here. The manager was miserable and clearly wanted us to leave (I think he's a new manager as I've never seen him before and visit quite frequently) he approached our table a total of four times to ask if we were ready for the bill/ready to pay - it wasn't even closing time!!

In the past few months during a period of convalescence I've visited a lot with family and friends at lunchtime and evenings. Last weekend being the most recent. We have both booked and just turned up. The food is absolutely what you expect from a restaurant chain, the same as any restaurants in the chain following company guidelines. But the service! At lunchtime you are definitely an inconvenience,there is limited customer service and no return for extra drinks etc and the staff dissappear out of sight so you go without unless you wave frantically or get up to go and find someone. Last Saturday evening it was busy, we ordered wine as we sat down and water, the wine arrived after over 20 mins and our order was taken. Our starters arrived immediately and had clearly been prepared pre service and not to order,the server was miserable and said nothing! . We again asked for water. Our mains came out and again we asked for water and were told they didn't have enough jugs to bring some to us. Eventually as we finished our pizzas a hot jug appeared with warm water and ice. We had wanted other drinks but both had a mouthful of food and the server again didnt give us the ootion.And all of this is fine it's a convenient location chain restaurant of reasonably priced food we don't come here to fine dine.But this branch definately exists on the brand name, if it was an independent restaurant you wouldn't return. The staff are miserable there is no customer engagement or recognition they rarely smile,engage or look like they want to be there. We're going to change to the Walton branch for now.

Good good especially with 40% off the bill voucher. Legera Padana was delicious as were the salted caramel profiteroles. Shame about service, very slow even though restaurant only had customers on 2 other tables!

We've had dinner here a couple of times recently after not having been for some time. The first time we arrived quite late - about 9.30pm for dinner and it was abundantly clear from the waiter that he wished we hadn't. Several people came in after us too.The other night we came in on a Saturday when it was busy and again we appeared to be an inconvenience. After being seated we were ignored for over 15 minutes and then the service thereafter was perfunctory to say the least.On both occasions I've no complaints about the food which was exactly as expected but they could do with doing some customer service training for the staff!

Travelled down to place order and when made the pizzas were very basic, no herbs as previously made by Pizza Express, just cheese and tomato v thin base, no flavour. Not as good as the cheap supermarket ones. As we couldn't get through on the phone to place the order or query anything we decided that it is too much like hard work to go there. Sadly they no longer offer quality or the service you expect. Actual restaurant is ok to eat in but the quality of food not worth the trouble. Shame

We went to Pizza Express Weybridge for the first time today & were treated by Dennis as valued regulars. Dennis was charming, kind & good humoured. Dennis advised on wine & choice of food and was an excellent host. Giovanna was also lovely & made our lunch date a fun event. Bartak the chef prepared an excellent Calamari as a starter and 2 perfect Pizza's to follow. The reason we enjoyed the meal so much (as we eat in many expensive restaurants in Surrey) was the atmosphere that Dennis created. We would have paid more for such a moment….Dennis is a huge asset to your company. WE WILL BE BACK….WITH OUR FRIENDS!!

Good pizza and a wonderful lasagne sets Pizza Express apart from its competitors, but you pay a premium for it if you order any of the tiny starters. The setting is ok and our kids love the piccolo menu. Service is fair at best as it always feels rushed. We tend to spend our Tesco vouchers here which keeps it cheap and is the main draw for us doing regular returns.

Almost every town has a Pizza Express and we've eaten in a few. The Weybridge restaurant is one of the best we have visited. The decor and ambience is more friendly and cosy than most. It gets very busy but the service is always extrmemely efficient. Great pizzas as you would expect!

The food was as you would expect from a Pizza Express and was good. The waitress who served us was very difficult to understand because of her accent, it was very hard to get their attention to get the bill. The coffee machine had broken and alto they did have instant coffee the waitress seemed reluctant to let us have some!

I visited this outlet Sunday 11th October, about 15:00hrs. There were four of us and as the place was virtually empty, so we thought we would get a fast service. How wrong we were.The young lady that greeted us acted as if we were giving her a bad day simply just by showing us to a table. After ordering drinks, we began ordering just main courses. Three pasta dishes and a pizza. We wait about 45mins before the pasta dishes came out. One had luke warm sauce and cold pasta. The other was burnt around the edges and lukewarm in the middle. It also had a large chip on the inside of the bowl (Photo attached).We complained and asked for fresh dishes to be fired, not the ones we had reheated. This was done, but they simply returned one of the dishes reheated and still not at the correct temperature. By this time, over an hour, still no sign of the pizza. How long does it take to roll some dough, put toppings on and fire for ten minutes?None of us could eat as the person whole ordered the pizza complained to the chef and left. Our dishes were just not up to any sort of standards health wise. My co-diners were family who I had not seen for a long time and the whole experience was a nightmare and frankly very upsetting.We spoke to the duty manager who did listen, understand and agreed with us completely on the terrible service. To his credit he did apologise profusely and said there would be no charges at all for anything. We said we would pay for the wine, but this was kindly refused also. So cannot fault the manager's service well done sir.After eating else where after, we discussed the service and from what we saw, the chef really must take full responsibility. I actually felt sorry for the manager. He really did look and sound like he had been let down by his staff.Not sure I could visit there again. Unless assured a new chef and table staff.Very disappointed.Dave.

It's a run of the mill pizza express. Parking is close by (pay-for up until 6pm) and the actual venue is spacious and staff are all friendly.Food was tasty and well cooked. Drinks a little expensive for what you get.

This branch is one of my favourites as it's in a stand-out location and the staff here are friendly and attentive, the food was all great and no complaints. They also have the valpollicella ripasso wine that is amazing but not available at many other p.exp

First time to this particular Pizza Express, but regular visitor to other branches. Ordered drinks but Appletiser with Pomegranate not available. Then ordered Noci as our starter. Not available. Told that a number of items not available as the menu is changing and the branch is running down stock of items to disappear. Ordered a Pollo Verdure and told that this was not available. Three items on one visit is not acceptable from a brand that celebrates 50 years this year.

Called in on off chance of table and was lucky as busy, as always Pizza Express were very efficient on getting you to your table. Very friendly staff who soon had my meal and drink to the table, I wasn't rushed and had a good time

This place is situated across the road from the hotel we stayed in , Myself and my work collegues ate there and have to say it was very good . Staff where friendly , service was excellent and the price was great

We have be going to this Pizza Express for years and have always found it one of the best local family restaurants. It can get a bit noisy if you like to eat early. But the food is always good and you get service with a smile.

Always had good service, good wine and good food at this location. Lots of kids around 6 pm so can be deafeningly noisy but after that is fine. Parking opposite. Nice atmosphere.

Stopped off for a quick take away. Looked like a lovely restaurant. Excellent staff member, I said I'd be back in a few mins as my car was parked in a permit space. He even came out to tell me the pizza was ready. Very nice pizza.

Booked a table for 4 on Saturday evening. Parking was a real problem. Ended up in Morrisons car park just around the corner. The restaurant was quite busy on a hot steamy night and we were seated in the childrens area which was really hot and uncomfortable. The main room is air conditioned but we couldn't get seated there. Food was quite good as it normally is for Pizza Express. Drinks expensive too.
