Pizza Express in Elmbridge

I went to pizza express Walton today. I ordered food with a brilliant waitress, then the dough balls arrived as a starter alongside water and a Coke Zero, when I ate the dough balls there was relatively large pieces of what looked like china inside one that I didn’t realize till I ate and swallowed some. I showed the waitress the part I spat out who said they’d get there manager, who came over and after seeing a chunk of china told me that I could have the portion of china infused dough balls for free (they were already free as a pizza express member) and charged me for the coke that I didn’t get a chance to drink. I have autism and therefore sensory issues so lost my appetite and couldn’t stomach lunch anymore and was met with begrudgement about cancelling the mains rather than the understanding I expected. This ruined my meal out and I was disappointed. I would be cautious of health and safety standards at this particular pizza express.

Had a lasagne which was delicious and a chicken milanese which was good.

Couldn't fault either service or food, so 5 stars!

Our waitress Monica was amazing, she remembered us and our dietary requirements from the previous visit.

Base taste good but hard to find any toppings on it, like eating bread on its own...even not much cheese..... just base and tomato souce.... do not recommend...

Amazing food, great taste, top quality, and good staff!

Attended this evening and were served by 2 very helpful staff one being named Monika Who went over and beyond what she could have in order to make our visit enjoyable. She had a smaller version of an adult Sundae made up for our daughter who had her heart set on one but this was only available as an item on the full size adult menu. Thank you!

Great food good value for money would recomend

The food was lovely (except the lime and basil sorbet which tasted very artificial) and the table service was great. Lovely friendly staff and quick food turnaround. The only downside was the lack of space. The restaurant felt very cramped, there needs to be fewer tables. I had a pram with me, and there was no way to get to my table at the back so the staff had to pull out tables and chairs for us to make our way through which was quite embarrassing. Other than that, I can't fault the experience.

Had a really enjoyable three course lunch here, today. I'd booked and asked if we could be seated in a booth to avoid a kids party on the opposite side of the restaurant. The waitress asked which one we'd like to sit in before seating us and providing menus. The portions were the ideal size. We ate everything that we'd ordered, just took a small portion of dessert as son was unable to finish it all. Food was freshly prepared and hot. Bosco salad was delicious and liked that I was ask if I'd like to order bread to go with it. Too many places assume you'd want that, so makes a nice change to have the option to order if required. Restaurant wasn't too busy when we were seated at 12:20, but there was a small queue of people waiting to be seated when we left around 13:45. Really enjoyed the food and visit. Well done to the team!

Visited the Pizza express in Walton - Sandor was our server - amazing service, very friendly and helpful! Fantastic pizza! I had the new gluten free pizza base and it was sensational!!

My mistake is ordering takeaway – the pizza inevitably arrives cold, I will never ever be ordering again from them.

Staff taking us to the table never said a word..appeared to be disintrest.. waited a long time for dinner, which was really difficult as my son is diabetic and did his insulin that had to wait over 30 mins he is meant to ear within 20 mins. The waiter serving us was helpful and pleasant..

Pizza Express is a pizza chain we often go to. It's a great place to have a light pizza with a good kids menu. Even if you go without a reservation, there are usually seats available.

I always like the food at Pizza Express, but the service at the Walton branch is not at all welcoming. You wonder if they want you there. Not a single smile from any of the staff, never engaging when you asked a question or made a request. The request was met but as if they didn't really care. So generally felt it was just food for fuel rather than a nice afternoon out. Won't rush back.

Standard Pizza express fare, food consistently decent. Service was mediocre, our order was not correct which wasn't the end of the world, but a bit irritating.

Do not order delivery from Walton via Uber Eats. Food was stone cold on arrival.

This location has been consistently good. Pizza hot and fresh. Best rewards app. Great staff

No doubt it’s the best pizza express out there! Other restaurants should take note how to deliver. Keep up the good work !

Used to be really good service but lately not so good , forgetting orders and slow service and pizzas slightly burnt. Hampton court and weybridge are better with food quality I have found.

What happened!!??? I have been a regular patron of this restaurant and it is usually fine. However, last night's visit was appalling. The waiter continually apologised for the extremely long waits (nearly an hour) and the food (same dishes as usual) were diabolical. A simple margherita was covered in salt and the dough was missing on most of the bottom. A nicoise salad was runny, anchovies like fillets of mackerel and could not be finished; indeed now it's the following day and I have had the runs all day. A very strange experience - something MUST have been going on, because as I say, it's usually fine.

Great food, lovely team. Had my daughter's birthday pizza making party here which was great fun.

I honestly thought my order was a practical joke. Took a photo but the website wouldn’t let me upload. Ordered a seafood/prawn pizza. It arrived with no base or toppings other than a tiny shrimp on each slice. So six tiny shrimps. An absolute rip off. This company is going under. I will never order again and have advised all who will listen not to either. Robbery.

Pizza express keeps the family happy and an excuse to get out the house.

I visited Pizza Express Walton-on-Thames for dinner tonight and was really disappointed with the service. While the food was decent, the older female server (blond with a tattoo on her forearm) was incredibly rude to us. When we were seated, the male server informed us that some of the starters and mains we wanted were not available, which was fine. He suggested we order the available items first and then go through the menu once again to order the rest. We agreed and picked some other dishes. When we asked the older female server if we could now order the rest of our food, she somehow looked really cross about it and spoke to us in a very rude and dismissive tone. Her exact words: “Tell me only if you have made up your mind, then I will come back” and she walked away right away shaking her head. We felt quite startled by her reaction and had to call her back. When she saw us waving at her, she gave us this impatient look and said “So you have made up your mind now?” while approaching our table - again, that was really rude. We had been very patient and polite ever since we had entered the restaurant. We did not deserve to be treated like this. Once she got to our table, before we could say anything, she went “If you do not order all your food at the same time, the system gets confused and it would mess up everything you have ordered.” Even though I knew that was not true, and customers shouldn’t get told off just because of that, I still patiently explained to her that we had been told to order in this way by her colleague. She said “Okay” but did not apologize for her behavior. Her attitude made us feel truly unwelcome. We noticed that she treated other customers differently and this made us feel targeted as the only Asian customers in the restaurant tonight. While the food was satisfactory, the poor service we received from the older female server left a bad taste in our mouths. We hope that Pizza Express Walton-on-Thames will take steps to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and professionalism.

Wish I could give 0 stars. The worst staff and service I have ever experienced. This place deserves to be closed. Horrible management and catering team. Luciana (manager) is very poorly trained in all aspects required in a work environment. Going to a different pizza express is a better choice in my opinion, believe me.

I recently visited Pizza Express in Walton on Thames. On the whole, the service was friendly and the staff were very helpful. However, I felt that the pizza lacked cheese and was quite expensive. It didn't quite live up to what I expected from a Pizza Express, but if you're looking for a quick bite to eat this is a good place to go.

Great place to enjoy pizza and pasta and all Italian food and drinks.

Our server was friendly and the service was prompt, Katie I think she was called? Great evening overall. :)

We ordered 2 portions of Cannelloni for collection, however, very disappointed with the portion size. They were half the size of what they serve in the restaurant. Though tasted great but not worth the full price. Really disappointed. Had to cook dinner thinking would be a good break to enjoy Pizza Express.

This is the best Pizza Express in Surrey. The Pizza Chef has been working that oven for 25+ years!!! He used to be making the pizzas there when I was a boy, and I returned this week after 14 years living abroad to find him still there.....and he made some epic food. IT WAS SO GOOD I RETURNED WITH MY FAMILY 3 TIMES IN THE 1 WEEK WE WERE VISITING!! the staff here are also fantastic, friendly and helpful, and all this trickles down from the Manageress who has also been running this place perfectly for years!! @pizzaexpressheadoffice needs to take note and reward these guys for excellence!!

Terrible service. Pizza arrive nearly 2 hours after ordering and was stone cold. Can’t speak to anyone as don’t take calls. Rip off

Much better now it’s refurbished. No longer an insufferable echo chamber, it’s now actually quite a pleasant experience to be in here. The food you expect, the service was a bit slow.

I Went there with my family for my birthday meal and I can’t thank the team here enough for the amazing experience we had, from service to the food both were outstanding, I would highly recommend to all. Thank you for a wonderful evening x

We arrived at 8.15 for a meal for 5. Had to ask to have our order taken. When we ordered, after we told them what we wanted, we were told there were missing egg for a tuna nicoise. We asked for broccoli instead. Then told 10 minutes later there was no broccoli. Meal arrived, missing one of the dishes. When we got to desserts a third of the menu wasn’t available and the manager had told staff to go home and was clearly trying to close, this was around 10pm. The food was absolutely fine but the service just made us feel unwelcome as though we were an imposition on staff. I really appreciate that it may not be the best job in the world but going out to eat as a family is a treat and you just want to feel welcome. Find an independent restaurant folks, where they will appreciate your custom.

Fed up with over-priced places to eat whilst travelling with work, settled for a simple pizza and drink - was not disappointed. Friendly staff and lovely freshly cooked pizza and at a reasonable price. Free evening parking across the road also a bonus - what's not to like?

visited yesterday because of a previously good experience-there were 6 of us including a child and a baby-Once again I cant fault the restaurant-comfortable-great service-food excellent and reasonably priced too-Well done

The new layout seems to make it very awkward for the waiters - by the way they reach across clients to put meals down. Not ideal - could be lack of training by Pizza Express.

We went to PE to celebrate a Birthday. Whilst the food was ok, the service was incredibly slow and the staff were fairly indifferent in a 1/4 full (at most) restaurant. It was clear that takeaway orders were being prioritised and the restaurant experience comes second.

I arrived with my wife and two grown up daughters last night enj route to the Everyman cinema. My expectations were low, to be honest as I knew the restaurant was just about to shut down for a refit. But we had good pizzas the place looked fine to me and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The lady who served us was perfect. I drank the Fullers Honey Dew ale and it was really nice.

I visited Pizza express in Walton yesterday with my children and I am absolutely appalled with my experience. Once we got seated (which took over 15minutes), we ordered our food which took over 30 minutes to come due to the staff blatantly abusing a delivery driver. My children had to witness everything that happened and had trouble sleeping later on as they said it scared them! The staff including the manager Luciana was obviously verbally abusing the driver, the staff were physically abusing the driver by pushing him and trying to take his phone when he was clearly recording the horrible behaviour from the Pizza express staff. The manager Luciana was allowing the staff to threaten the driver and then proceeded to lock the doors on us customers and not allow anyone to leave which is most definitely false imprisonment. The driver apologised to the customers for the situation and asked politely to leave. However, the staff didn’t allow him to and barricaded all possible exits including the fire exit which must breach health and safety regulations (as if he had committed a criminal offence which he clearly didn’t!!). For someone with kids this did not make me feel safe whatsoever, and Luciana tried to blame it on the driver!!!!!! I am appalled by such low level behaviour of the manager and staff and I wish I asked the driver if he’s okay as I cannot imagine how humiliating this must’ve been for him as the staff were obviously humiliating him and he kept a brave face…. 1 young delivery driver surrounded by a minimum of 5 staff members does not seem very fair to me! this should not be tolerated especially as the police had to escort him off the premises as if he was the perpetrator!! I am disgusted and won’t be visiting this branch again. I called up the restaurant today to complain and spoke to the restaurant manager Kanga who pathetically spent the entire conversation defending Luciana and the staff making it seem like they were the victims. As I witnessed this first hand and it was nothing like how Kanga described I will be escalating this to the Pizza express head office to ensure someone from Pizza express takes responsibility for the abuse the delivery driver tolerated yesterday night.

As always with a chain, the menu & restaurant layout is bespoke to the chain and therefore as expected and possibly bland. Staff can make a difference and staff here were engaging & friendly. Drinks in any Pizza Express are excessively priced and this can turn a reasonably priced night out into an expensive evening.

Had service with a smile, we arrived without having booked a table and was greeted by the manager who said there was space for another 2, the pizzeria was full of adults and children celebrating several birthdays, each in there bubbles, the staff were rushed off there feet taking orders from everyone, whilst being observed by 2 members of the company's directors who congratulated the staff on there presentation and customer service, well worth another visit

Short staffed but an enjoyable experience

The service we received last night was exceptional The food was delicious and attention to detail outstanding (the waiter even changed my beer glass without me asking as it was not chilled enough.) The atmosphere was great We had a great evening with my family The service received from Anga the Manager, Sebastian the Assistant Manager and their team cannot be faulted and I thoroughly recommend this restaurant. we sat inside and there was enough social distancing to make you feel comfortable. Great place- we'll be back!

We booked a table at Pizza Express Walton tonight 11th May thinking it may be a little busy - but when we turned up we were the only people there - we asked about heating or even blankets and was told no we have never supplied outdoor heating - we were then told the restaurant just along has heating ! Great business tactic there Anyway we order drinks and pizzas and decided to grin and bare it ...at 9.15pm we went inside to order a coffee as no one came out to ask if we wanted dessert and was told sorry coffee machine not working - so i said not working or just being cleaned and you just dont want to do it ? So once i said that he said yes sorry but its late and we are no longer serving coffee ! My reply was ive sat outside with no heating and i want a coffee - the manager then appears and said ok we will do it ! ....all this branch wanted to do was close down early and they just couldnt be bothered - if that is the case DO NOT OPEN ! I would have thought you would he rushing to open the doors to customers not making the dining experience even worse than it already was .... P.s...when we went to the ladies we noticed their used blue masks on the tables ...not a good look when its meant to be cleaned down to prevent the virus ..... Note to Pizza Express - if you state 10pm and someone orders coffee at 9.15pm.pls accomondate - the manager the waiter just couldnt be bothered - totally unimpressed by tonights experience - will not be rushing back to this place

The staff are dedicated to their service. Even during this pandemic where only a Take away is available.

The servers were really nice, but my friend waited 30 minutes for a drink - we were one of three table. The waitress came over in a fluster and said she would be back with the drink. And the tables arent cleared after the main, we werent offered dessert for over an hour after we had finished eating.

Went here to support my local area and business even though I’m not a big pizza express or eat out often. We booked and on arrival did not receive a great service or welcome from staff. We’re given a table bang in the middle and there was 3 of us and table was for 2. There was kids parties going both ends and the social distancing was extremely poor and staff were not interested, We requested another one on the side but was told this was reserved (we never saw anyone sit on this table during our meal). We had starter main and dessert and drinks. The calamari I had was sooo salty and def not worth the price of over £7 worse than frozen. The garlic balls we got later realised online these should have been complimentary and we were never told this or offered. Being vegans and vegetarians was recommended a terrible pizza after asking for something suitable. Dessert was the only good thing otherwise the food was a big disappointment ☹️ As well as the bill. This looks like a good pizza express from the outside and I expected the ambience inside to be nice too, instead it was dirty and noisy. I won’t be coming to support this business sorry.

Always happy with the selection and standard of Pizza Express food, but unimpressed with this branches lack of social distancing measures. Apart from the availability of hand sanitiser at the entrance, there was little evidence of any further attempt at Covid safety measures. The table layout appeared to be exactly the same as pre Covid - there was no discernible extra space between tables. The staff did not wear masks, nor did they appear to make an effort to keep a distance between themselves and the customers. We recently visited a different branch of Pizza Express, and found their anti Covid measures to be a lot more diligent and hence reassuring. I’m not a particularly nervous diner, but find it strange that Pizza Express restaurants clearly don’t all follow the same ‘Covid conduct’!

4 out of 5 of us felt Pizza under cooked. Tables very close together. Not much social distancing.

We asked for a table in the corner and was informed it was reserved, but had not seen anyone come during the entire time we were dining there! Did not think the table we had in the centre was ideal for social distancing. The long table behind us we all Were in very close proximity, lots of people walking up and around our table, there seemed to be a few group parties, these big parties should Ideally be kept separately, there was space on the top with few diners why were we not offered to go there ? Disappointed as wanted to support the local restaurants. food : wasn’t the best calamari was sooo salty and pizza just meh, desserts oks..felt like we were a nuisance there, didn’t feel it was worth it even with the eat out scheme going on.

If you like proper pizza, this is easily the best. It can only be a good thing that you can watch your pizza being freshly made in open kitchen, only problem i have is trying not to drool as its brought to table.

BAD experience I love this restaurant but last night I went out with my partner for the first time in a while and both of us were quite disappointed with our main meal. My partner had to ask why there was only a little cheese only covering half of his Margarita pizza to which the waiter said he had to ask for extra cheese on ordering. I had the risotto funghi, and it was only luke warm and was extremely garlicy. So much so that my partner could smell it from across the table and it was actually burning my throat to eat it. When I gave feedback I was told it was not actually made on site! So it had been ordered in and reheated. NOT impressed.

Great service. Staff very attentive. The chef was playing up to the girls when he was making the pizzas but made it fun! Food was excellent. Kids ‘ menu was a bargain with 3 courses and a frothy milk for £7.45

Had a great pizza here as I had been craving a nice thin crust pizza and fancied a change from our pizza delivery that we sometimes get. Had a Romans base which really was very thin, you could see the light through it, but it was excellent, and pretty similar in price to our takeaway/ delivery pizza. Service was good as well, and nice cocktails and good wine all at a very reasonable price. A very pleasant experience after not visiting here for many years. It can get very busy as they had to check what tables were available so worth reserving if more than just 2 people.

Personally thought the service was shocking! Took me Ages to get the waitresses attention she just stared back at me, considering that I have worked in catering strongly not impressed. Food wasn’t as good as i expected.

Watch the bill like a hawk. Got overcharged here by £11 last time. Otherwise its a fun treat at Pizza Express and the kids live it, but not proper food in my opinion.

Went here before going to the Riverhouse Barn. Food, as usual, up to its good standard, but always looking around for someone to clear the plates and provide the next course or the bill.

Good food and quick service. Whenever I have visited it has always been very busy, but the staff are always accommodating and manage to find us space to have the newborn's pushchair at the table.
