Pizza Express - Edinburgh, Northbridge in Edinburgh, City of

We brought a group of 27 guides and 10 adults to the restaurant on a Saturday evening. We couldn’t fault the service, the staff were helpful and amazing with the girls and the food was delicious as always. Thank you so much for having us

Surprisingly poor. Firstly they seemed short staffed so service was hopeless. Starter of dough balls was £7.95 and there were five very small dough balls in a wee cup. Leggera pizzas were soggy and undercooked. The biggest shambles were the desserts. The mini desserts which include a tea or coffee couldn’t be served as there was no hot water to make drinks. They refused to deduct the hot drink from the price even although they couldn’t serve any. Hopeless shambles. Staff didn’t seem bothered by either poor food or service. They clearly think their city centre location lets them away with mediocre!!

I had the worst experience in a pizza place ever dining in at your pizza express at 23 North Bridge Edinburgh. The (chef) 😱 Daniel burnt our pizza we wondered why it was taking so long and when it arrived it was black and he’d obviously removed the burnt toppings and replaced them with semi cooked ones. The pizza was burnt and black around the edges and the waiter who sounded like American or Canadian plonked it on our table and said “Crispy”. What a disgrace we paid for our two Peroni beers left the change and got out of there. Disgusting service Daniel or the waiter should have just said sorry it’s burnt and apologised and we would have understood why we waited so long instead of trying to con us into accepting a cremated pizza. We’ve never been in Pizza Express before but you’ve certainly left an impression that won’t be forgotten. As tourists from Australia you might think it doesn’t matter as we’ll go away but bad news travels fast. 👎

Amazing service from a lovely waitress called Shaun! The food took a good while to come and wasn't quite up to usual standards but was handled very well by shuan who was apologetic yet still boisterous. Overall a great place to eat out.

Pedimos un plato de pasta y unos canelones y la verdad estaba muy bueno. El camarero que nos atendió era español (Diego) y fue muy amable. En vez de postre y/o café, nos gustó la opción de tomar un café con un postre pequeño, tipo degustación. Te permite tomar un par de cucharadas de algo dulce. Muy buena idea.

Zuerst wirkten die Bedienungen sehr bemüht. Als der Teller der Pizza abserviert wurde, bestellte ich gleich ein Dessert. Aber das kam nie … Dann wurde mir einfach die Rechnung gebracht. Die Pizza ist aber wirklich ein Hit !

Very disappointed. Waited ages for our pizza and when it finally arrived it was barely warm. People around us who came in after us were served and had their food before us. With unapologetic and illgrace the manager gave us 5% discount. Won’t be back.spoilt a pleasant day

Both the waiter and manager displayed excellent customer service, making the whole experience most enjoyable. Grateful thanks in helping us use our Tesco vouchers.

Arrived mid week at 16:45 and place had two tables in. Stood in door a waited a good 5 minutes and were ignored by staff, finally waited dragged himself over asked if we had a booking (we didnt) and he said they couldn't seat us as they were short staffed. Pointed out there was no one in the restaurant, he said they might get busy later?!! It wasn't even 5pm! Chose Pizza Express as you know what to expect- good food, good service - clearly not the case in Edinburgh. Has put me off the Pizza Express altogether. Avoid. Go over the roaf to Bella Italia instead where we and got exceptional service there and were more than happy to take my £100+ spend

Was given a table despite making a reservation at the wrong restaurant. Prompt friendly service. Colouring provided for my youngest. Only criticism is desserts took a while to arrive in comparison with service of starters & mains.

We needed an early tea with our young children. Entered the restaurant to find only 1 other table in. We stood there for 5 minutes being completely ignored by the 3 members of staff so we left. I’m not giving them my hard earned money when they can’t even be bothered to acknowledge us. Dreadful service.

We were eating here on March 12th, during our school trío and the service was excellent. We ate with 13 children and the waitress Julia was very nice and helpful. We recommend this place to eat. Excellent prices and service. And the waitress the best, Her name is Julia

I’ve reviewed pizza express just about everywhere I’ve been! I’ve only ever been disappointed once (see Gretna review). We used the O2 offer at lunch time. The pizza was very good and the service and surroundings good too.

Sin embargo, perdió un punto porque estaba completamente lleno, pero no parecían tener suficiente personal para hacer frente, el pobre tipo que nos atendió, daba la bienvenida a los comensales, despejaba las mesas e intentaba servir a todos al mismo tiempo y apenas eran 6 pm.

Reservado para 6. 45 y llegó a tiempo para que le dijeran que la mesa aún estaba ocupada y estará disponible en 5 minutos. ¡30 minutos después nos sentamos! ! ! Se ofrecen menús, pero no se ofrece una bebida ni nada para ser justos. Otros 15 minutos después, mi amigo con el que estaba se levantó y me preguntó si podíamos pedir una bebida, claramente molesto, la persona era simplemente grosera e ignorante y de mala gana tomó la orden. Siempre insistimos en que los niños usen sus modales y digan por favor y gracias, ¡pero nuestro amigo ignorante obviamente no había aprendido esto cuando era niño! !

After a day out in Edinburgh, my family and I were looking for somewhere to eat in the centre and found this branch of Pizza Express thinking it would go to plan and be as good as ever, little did I know I was very wrong.

Went with my husband and and sons. Service was terrible. When the food arrived it was barely warm. Asked for garlic oil I was totally ignored. Sat squatting flies and spiders webs near the windows. Service in-between meals was so long. Sat waiting for he bill for 30 mins. We told the waitress the service wasn't good. We complained to the so called manager who informed us that the waitress was crying. Well how unprofessional to say that and sorry the waitress is not in the right job. Avoid here a total joke

Pizza is so variable so I prefer to go for a place which has a good standard. Came here two nights in a row and had the delicious Pollo Forza (handy tip -ALWAYS get the Romana base rather than the classic otherwise your pizza will be tiny). Special mention to Silvia who is intuitive, friendly, and makes every customer feel special.

It was our first family visit to Edinburgh. After a city tour we were looking for a lunch. My boys favourite Italian eatery is Pizza Express local in Harrow.

Food was fine. Service appalling. Didn't seem able to cope with a large group. No cutlery. No water glasses. Asked several times for a juice. No dessert menus. Wont be back and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

We actually ate here two nights out of the 3 nights we were in Edinburgh. Ou first night we walked down and got a couple pizzas to bring back to the apartment, the last night we had spent time at the Pop Up Geeks bar and while walking home decided this would make a nice late night supper. The gluten free pizza and dough balls were great, as was the regular pizza. I would happily go back!

We took the grandchildren, 6 and 9 and they loved it. The children’s portion Margarita for the six year old and the larger for the boy. I had Diavolo with jalapeño peppers and boy was it hot but delicious. We sat not far from where the chefs were making the pizza dough discs and were amazed at how having roiled them out they then tossed them about but they still seemed to fit the proving dishes perfectly. Non alcoholic Peroni lager was very welcome for me as a driver - the red wine by the glass for my partner was also good.

También eran gerentes en la cocina ayudando y sirviendo, pero no llevaban delantales ni sombreros, lo cual pensé que era obligatorio si estabas en la cocina. r

La pizza meno cara 9p,grande poco più di una pizzetta, non cattiva ma neanche buona, 5p una bottiglia d'acqua che ti portano già aperta... Chissà se l'hanno riempita nel lavandino... Bocciati,una catena non può far pagare così tanto, piuttosto mangia qualche piatto del posto in un pub!Noi essendo in 5 e un po' in ritardo per la cena per i canoni del posto (19:30) purtroppo ci siamo dovuti accontentare ma una seconda volta non ci torno sicuro!!!

Turned up on a really busy Saturday evening. Waited a few minutes to be greeted and I think because there was only 2 of us managed to get a table immediately, as larger parties were waiting for tables. We were served quickly. Pizzas were delicious. Used Tesco vouchers which they were happy to accept. Staff were excellent under what appeared to be a busy and pressurised environment. We had to leave quickly as we were heading to a concert so needed to hunt for our waitress. Really good experience for such a busy evening. Would return.

Came for dinner on my son's birthday with 4 of his friends- starters & main courses arrived ok without too much of a wait but after that no waiter came near our table so the plates weren't cleared & we weren't offered the dessert menu. In the end I had to go to the till to ask to pay & then couldn't use a discount voucher as well as paying with Tesco vouchers which was disappointing as previously I have been able to. The kids were also disappointed there was no time for pudding but we had already been there for 2 hours & had a train to catch to get home. The pizzas were all nice but I think expensive if a discount voucher can't be used & the poor service would unfortunately put me off going there again.

My son and his girlfriend, both 12, had planned a fun afternoon in town yesterday and wanted to finish it going for pizza. We'd booked them a table at Pizza Express North Bridge. They had arrived, sat down and ordered when they realised they had lost half the money they'd taken to pay for the meal, meaning they wouldn't have enough. My son text me worrying, and asking what should they do. I rang him and asked to speak to the waiter/waitress to check if I would be able to pay over the phone with my card. It was passed to the manager who said, we'll see what it comes to, and if it's not much over how much they have, then we can waive the extra. I thought that was very kind, but was anticipating a call later on to pay the difference. The manager then called back a few minutes later to say not to worry, they would cover it, so I figured he'd seen what they'd already ordered and decided it wouldn't be too much. He then told them to order what they wanted and they'd deal with the bill at the end. No longer worrying they enjoyed a great meal.

The restaurant has a nice ambience and the menu is pretty standard Italian (a range of pasta and pizza plus some other dishes). I had the lasagne. It was fine but the portion was what I would have expected from a starter. The restaurant also did not have a cold bottle of the wine we wanted so we had to settle for two glasses from an already open bottle. At the end of the meal getting the bill also took a lot of time. It is OK but there is another Italian a few doors down which could be better.

Otra de las opciones en el centro histórico de Edinburgo cuando prefieres la comida mediterránea o italiana a la británica o escocesa. Justo en la esquina hacia Victoria St tienes una sucursal de esta cadena. Aunque esté completo no se tarda mucho en pillar mesa y el servicio es rápido. Los empleados amables y las pizzas están muy bien.

We stopped here one afternoon during the festival. We were offered a window seat and had a very good meal. Staff were efficent and friendly.

Eat here twice while visiting the city food and service exceptional. Tried a new pizza on the menu which was delicious. Only negative beers a bit pricey so didn't bother.

Visited with my son while enjoying the Festival. Delightful atmosphere. Waiter was wonderful, attentive, kind and welcoming. Pizza was delicious!! Highly recommend.

No nos gustó. No le pongo solo una estrella porque está en el centro y es cómodo. La comida está regular, solo la ensalada vegana se salvó. Los menús infantiles muy pobres, les pedimos la salsa de la pasta a parte y nos dijeron que no podía ser. Les sacaron los macarrones a los niños blancos pero bañados en aceite o mantequilla o yo no sé... para que no se los comieran... fíjate.

No surprises : Good pizza , fast service and reasonably priced in a buzzy location .I had a wholefood salad ( under 500 calories ) and it was small, but delicious . Very noisy, very busy, very warm and lots of kids running around. Not somewhere you’d ever stay for a leisurely lunch . But it serves its purpose and is really well situated for the Fringe. We had four mains and two diet cokes and the bill came to £52 including service .

There was only 2 chicken pizzas on the menu and as I didn’t like mushrooms went for the other with peppers but there was no mention of the heat that would be inflicted nor ruin the whole taste of any chicken on the topping - we were told by one staff member yes these were the hottest peppers then again by the manager that they were not and when we asked for a discount as I had picked them off was told no so will no longer be considering Pizza Express to eat in ever again as no consideration given for my discomfort or the ill advised staff

Quite good pizza and also the Salads are very good (recomended, pollo salad). The service is very fast and the people is polite. Standard prices, recomended.

Die Pizza war in Ordnung aber mit Sicherheit nicht die Beste in Edinburgh. Ich fand sie auch sehr klein im Vergleich zu dem was ich aus Pizzerien in Deutschland kenne. Service war freundlich. Wartezeit betrug ca. 15 Minuten.

Wir waren zum Edin Tattoo, naja mittags einen Platz zum Essen zu finden ist schon nicht einfach, aber dann kommt der Pizza Express, und was soll ich sagen, einfach super, der Laden rappelvoll, die Mitarbeiter super freundlich, die Bedienung super freundlich, und das Essen kam trotz total vollem Laden super schnell, und dann schmeckt es auch noch super.

We went here a couple of times on holiday. The service was kind and quick. The gluten free options are great. The pasta is the best I have ever tasted. Plus there's some really good dessert options too not just ice cream / sorbets.

There are so many restaurants to choose from near the Royal Mile, and 5 pizza places on this block. But we loved the food here. We got the Calabrese pizza, loved the combination of flavors including the peppers that give it a slight kick, along with the arugula and pesto. So delicious and large enough for 2 or 3 people. We also got the chicken pesto pasta which was also delicious. I would go back again and Oder both! The servers were friendly and service was prompt. Loved the place and would go back!

I turned my hipster nose up at this place when I first saw it because the name makes it sound lame and cheap and its a chain... but my son insisted and we actually really enjoyed the food here. The location is easy (as is in the one on the Leith) and the wine is cold and good. I liked the lasagna and the carrot cake. They have a good kids menu.

Vers 18h30 nous avons essayé d’accéder à plusieurs restaurants sans succès, trop de monde partout . Du coup nous nous sommes rapatriés sur cette pizzeria qui avait des places disponibles et finalement c’était bien sympa . Les pizzas étaient bonnes , le serveur super gentil . Rien d’extraordinaire mais un repas très correct .

This Pizza Express is conveniently located just off the Royal Mile and next to the Hilton Carleton Hotel. Maybe that is why the prices are so high.

Good place to eat a tasty pizza, however make sure you got nothing else to do after it because they service food a bit late.

We were in Edinburgh for the week and whilst site seeing we stopped for lunch. Tasty pizza, the restaurant was empty there was only us and another couple.

The name makes it seem like it’s a fast food place, but it is a nice sit down, the food was absolutely fabulous! We had the Bruschetta, Calamari , Penne with Bolognese and the “American” pizza. Would definitely come again and recommend.

As a family of Pizza Express fans we have eaten in many, many branches the length and breadth of the UK, so on our Easter weekend break to Edinburgh we were certainly going to be visiting a branch!

We’ve eaten in other Pizza Expresses and it’s been a good experience however Pizza Express at North Bridge falls way below expected standard.

Forgot our children’s food. Was cold when it finally came so had to send it back. Chefs were surly and rude and since we were sat right next to the open-plan kitchen we heard everything. Was an unpleasant, uncomfortable experience from start to finish.

Visitamos este restaurante porque honraba nuestra tarjeta Gourmet. Estaba muy ocupado, me alegro de haber reservado con antelación. Era muy ruidoso y el servicio fue lento, tuvimos que esperar 45 minutos para recibir nuestro primer plato, ¡pensamos que nos habían olvidado! Estaba muy bien presentado y sabroso. El principal llegó un poco más rápido, pesto de polo, pero creo que el chef se olvidó de poner el polo. En general, bastante promedio, nuestro local es mejor. Si volvemos a visitar Edimburgo, probablemente buscaríamos en otra parte.
