Duddingston Fry in Edinburgh, City of

I am very disappointed in the food delivered. Only ate the garlic bread pizza as the rest of 30 odd pounds worth food was not edible.

Ordered a delivery at 1650 still waiting at 1845!!!!!

Typical fast food fish & chip shop, serving takeaway hot food including fish, white and black puddings, haggis, sausages and pies. Drinks and chocolate etc.

I ordered a home delivery approximately 1720 hrs(less than a mile away) & their website was easy to navigate. It said my delivery was going to be around 1800 hrs. I rang at 1830 to enquire where my fish supper was. I rang again at 1845 to be told it was on it's way. My fish supper arrived around 1900 hrs. An hour and 40 minutes to get my delivery from ordered is not good service. The staff that I spoke to were unhelpful and had terrible customer service training (assuming they had any). I didn't get any apology or customer service. Won't be recommending or using again.

Waiting a hour over delivery time my order isnt massive or even hard it most fried and kept in display cabinets bombaric that it's taken this long

This is my regular go to chippy for a delivery however tonight they're picking and choosing who they deliver to coz they're too busy and only have one driver on. This is a good way to losing all your regular customers. Very disappointed and certainly will not be returning

Do not order anything for collection and expect it to be ready for the collection time..... In fact don't expect to have it ready at all. Absolutely chronic service from the people working the shop. Why bother taking the order to be collected if you aren't going to get it ready and then proceed to tell us we need to wait for the fish despite having fish ready to go...... WE CAN SEE IT IN DISPLAY. Food is not as good as it used to be either. Awful these days. Awful.

The kids ordered food from here and waited 2 hours for it to be cancelled. With no reason or explanation was given. I am not impressed.

Smelled horrible liked it had been sittting out for days , I asked for a refund and got declined I took it further with the app I used and they tried to help but once again duddingston fry refused the refund !!

The food is decent, however I ordered a fried pizza supper and it came in a box that was far too small. So for whatever reason, they thought it would be a good idea to fold it over...it was a mess. Also, I went in and ordered chips and the guy said he was going to make fresh ones. The woman then started telling him the ones that were there would be fine to serve. He kept saying they had been there too long but she was adamant they were fine. I appreciate that he made me fresh ones regardless of her opinion, but her attitude really put me off. It felt like a very poor attitude to have in front of a customer. It's extremely unlikely I will return.

If I could give zero stars I would. placed the order and it took 2.5 hours to arrive with us! If it had arrived hot we'd of been happy but all our meals were look warm most of the meals lacked salt/sauce/anything. All in all, will not be going to this chippy again - one of the worst experience of my life!

No discussion about smaller, half portions. Just paid £12.50 which included delivery for a chicken breast and onion rings. There are more accommodating premises available and understanding of people that require smaller portions.

Modern and sleek, with delicious, hot food including all the usual favourites, plus pizzas, kebabs and more. Premises is always spotless, and staff are friendly and welcoming. Not the cheapest around, but for us it's worth both the journey and the price as we're never disappointed, and there's no leftovers!

Best chippy we have had in a long time. Nice portion and lovely chips/pizza/haggis. Will go again.

Gave 2 stars as the food is good but delivery is terrible. Normally over an hour for delivery nearly 2 hours this time. When you call to ask where it is you're always told "it's just left" not using this place again. Another customer lost.

Just had the best spicy haggis supper ive ever had anywhere..crispy haggis delicious crispy chips and most important of sll not in the least bit greasy..amazing !!! My new go to chippy.❤️❤️

Just had a rump steak. It's the worst I've tasted, I don't know what happened to this chip shop, it was one of the best. The fish supper wasn't any better. The fat needs changing, as it was very dirty.

Has good reviews but I ordered and it was worst supper, batter soggy, thing looked like Sat in hot plate for hours or even days worst 12 I spent my advice don't bother unless u want day off dried up supper with batter like rubber horrid oh by the way chips were just as bad and I threw the two suppers in bin, great way to business guys enjoy the 12 quid as its last and u have a review which I hope saves other customers worst chip shop in Scotland award perhaps 😀 here is pic wife did try and eat some golden crispy batter is not what u get here 😀

disappointed in the food - we ordered at 6 & it didn’t arrive until 8pm (for context we are not even ten minutes away) when the food arrived it initially felt hot and warm but when it came to eating the food it was under cooked, slimy consistency & all round not very pleasant. Whilst understanding that Saturday is a busy night, standards really shouldn’t slip. Tried to phone the restaurant to try rectify the order but no response.

Ordered through Uber eats tonight, yes it took a wee while but the pizzas were absolutely beautiful, could maybe just let customers know delivery will be a bit longer, As it’s worth the wait 👍

Got a delivery today it took 75 minutes to arrive my chicken supper was over cooked the chips were look warm my daughters macaroni was tasteless won't be ordering from them again

Love the fish and chips from this restaurant - highly recommend. Must say customer service is excellent too. We forgot to pick up an item when we ordered for collection and Duddingston Fry sent the item with a delivery driver even though it was outwith the catchment area for delivery. Shockingly bad....the fish seemed to be cooked in oil that looked as though it was the same oil from the start of the first lockdown! And asked for salt and sauce on everything and seems they are on a sauce budget of some sort as there was literally a small drizzle. Disappointing, should've just made toast.

Although it arrived on time, batter on fish was soggy, smoked sausage supper very small, more a childs portion, twice this has happened, dissapointed

never used to be a chippy person now im becoming a regular salad fresh and crisp. chips are always fresh burgers are excellent as well as the rest of the food and staff are lovely

Mi primer pedido y debo decir que como West Coaster & OAP me considero que tengo un paladar exigente cuando se trata de pescado / Cenas, pero estaba en el cielo, pensando que había sido transportado de regreso a mi lugar de estampación, como debo decir, los estándares son altos allí, pero Duddingston Fry llegó "al plato". Bien hecho, servicio fantástico y entregado con una sonrisa. Pescado absolutamente delicioso, solo que aunque las papas fritas muy sabrosas y 'frescas' podrían haberse frito un poco más para obtener esa crujiente. Solo una cosa muy menor. ¡Fresco, caliente, delicioso e incluso obtuve un descuento OAP! Porciones tan grandes que incluso el perro consiguió un pedazo de pescado. Definitivamente haré de esto un pedido regular. ¡Gracias a todo el personal de Duddingston Fry!

The meat was great and the bread too, i only disliked the chips because when i got home, they were cold and sticking to the bread, i was apalled by the sight of it and i never ate them as my Leccy woke up on the wrong side of the bed too lol if you know what i mean. It's a shame i couldn't heat them up. Great customer service. They are lovely at heart; truly never insult someone who fixes your food . I could tell you another story along these lines but i'm not sure if i have enough space to summarise it on here now; since i've already met my goal. Similar traits too to the chip shop although they are not a restaraunt but you'd rest assured knowing they have sold you some organic food that taste as well as they complicated as they seem. Worst chippy in the world” SHOCKING food” Why if in the chip shop business... do u think 2 sell half cooked rubber chips soaked with grease so bad they bend an ouse grease is ok,,,they should have more pride in there service as for the rest of meal well the batter was soggy an really quite bad the dog wouldn’t even eat it ...heaven knows how this place is still open or has any customers ..I will never be back Plz don’t order here u WILL be disappointed and like me still hungry🤮🤮🤮🤮

Absolutely disgusting. Everything comes from farmfoods next door. Most items I've had in the past week were undercooked. Avoid at all costs.

We got a couple of sausage suppers tonight. Sadly the batter on the. Was soggy and lacking any flavour. The chips were nice atleast. Note they only take cash - no cards but there is a cash machine next store.

Fancied a chicken kebab and decided to give it a try from here. Had to wait quite some time for it to be made, but I didn't mind as they things need to be freshly made. It was £8 per kebab, a little steep. They looked great though. Unfortunately they were awful - pretty much no flavour and a little dry. I do not recommend you try them!!

The chippy is very nice the staff are helpful and ask you specific questions like what kind of bread and any sauce the food is delicious and is very awesome

Recently moved to the area and visited a few times. The fry is very clean, staff are very friendly and everything we have ordered so far has been great - not too greasy like other chip shops.

Ordered a fried pizza. Got given a half pizza. Kind of strange that I didn't ask for a half. Was pretty disappointed that my order was incorrect, especially seen as if i'd wanted a fried pizza i'd have ordered that. Pizza was nice in the end. All half of it!!

I'm a great fan of their pizzas. They are always hot and fresh. Great week day deals available. Never had their fish and chips but they look nice and fresh. A lot of customers every time when getting my pizza. I would only extend opening hours. Very nice and helpfull staff.

Was well before the date states but I had a fried pizza supper, and when I was eating my pizza I bit into something hard. Had a look and it was full of staples!

Poor form was a regular customer but recent order and delivery took me to leaving this review and not using this place again. Order took an hour to arrive from shop less than 3 mins away by car. Large and small order both "small" salad requested was ignored and stone cold on arrival. £15 feel like i have been robbed.

my nearest takeaway place and it is beginning to annoy me, I try to use local places but this place is just to inconsistant in its quality to really make me want to come back.the guy that usually does the pizzas seems to have disappeared and the chap making them now just not just does not make them to the same standard. Given up on eating the fish and chips in the place just not good enough.

It is the nearest chip shop to where I live, just wish they would cook the fish to order instead of leaving it in the hot plate for ages. The Pizzas are all cooked fresh and are what I usually go for and they are pretty decent.Staff are all very nice and friendly.

As my title suggests. The service from the staff is great but the quality of the fish is substandard - soggy batter. But fine for £5.55 so not complaining too much... Cards not accepted but the shop next door (farm food) does cash back.

I rate fish and chip shops by the quality of their fish, and the Duddingston Fry overcooks the fish, so it's dry and tastes like cardboard. The chips aren't good either. It's always busy, with a lively atmosphere, and the service is good and quick, but I've tried the fish and chips a few times now, and won't be going back.

only been here the twice. After much ear bending from wife who is from this area, to try this place out i did. food was great. Chips were very tasty and pizza was great. 2nd time however was a let down. chips were soggy and tasted of potato skin rather than the light fluffy chip i had previously. Even the wife had to ask if these were "duddy fry chips ?" So best advice is to give it ago yourself. First time it was lovely..........

This is the Best Fish and Chop shop in Edinburgh. It is clean with excellent service. Everytime you visit. We have had a chippy here everytime we go home and the same excellence we recieve over and over again, well done to the Management and Staff

I like my fish and chips, but the supper would taste nicer if the oil was changed more often.
