Pizza Express in Edinburgh, City of

We visited on National Pizza Day to get our free pizzas and they did not disappoint! Our server, Christian, was friendly, upbeat and helpful. The restaurant was visibly understaffed due to absence but Christian kept calm and cheery whilst managing the entire restaurant floor alone. Well done to the whole team for keeping the pizzas coming despite difficult circumstances.

We enjoyed a typical Pizza Express experience. It was my first time using the app to split the bill, which worked very well. It’s so nice to use an app that is actually smooth and user-friendly. We had a big group with some complicated dietary requirements and the staff were mostly very patient.

Just wanted to congratulate the staff on the service, on a wet Saturday evening in December. It was incredibly busy, but they had plenty of people, it seemed very well co-ordinated, everything arrived promptly - I was very impressed.

Decided to stop for a quick bite to eat and some drinks before the theatre and was highly impressed by the staff and manager. Everyone was so polite and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. Even had a chance to chat to the manager who was wearing doc martens shoes. He was very polite and had good recommendations for drinks. Fab experience would highly recommend!

I was in Edinburgh for a couple of days when then rain came down hard just as I was passing this Pizza Express disguised behind alot of scaffolding!! It's just at the top of Victoria Street in the old town.The staff were all friendly. I was served promptly by a lovely young man named Christian. My food arrived quickly. Pizza was great. Restaurant was clean. Good all round experience.

The food was very promptly served and good. The waitress was super friendly. The restaurant decoration could be more welcoming, a bit cold and « canteen » like.

Very accommodating in very fast paced conditions. Knowledgable staff which enabled service prior to our later booked event. Quick and lovely food. All staff we encountered had excellent customer service. Christian on front of house was particularly good knowing which events people likely had booked and at which time for the Edinburgh festival, which instilled confidence that we would be seated, served and out with plenty of time, despite having to wait as we hadn’t booked a table. Our waitress (didn’t catch her name - blonde hair, just finished first year of uni and from Sheffield) provided fast and very friendly customer service throughout the evening, despite a very busy restaurant. Kathy was a joy, very bubbly character which couldn’t help but make you smile. Overall, very enjoyable, nice pizza and exactly what we were after prior to the Tattoo performance .

What a terrible experience. Have always loved Pizza Express but the waiter was so rude and uncaring, leaving us waiting for ages before serving us snd then being totally dismissive snd bordering on disrespect. Why do a job like this if you cannot engage with patrons and have a bit of personality to add to the experience. I rarely leave a venue without tipping but today he got nothing! Totally ruined a pleasant outing

Bei unserer Suche nach einem Restaurant zum Abendessen war dieses zugegebenermaßen nicht unser Favorit, da ist schon eher nach einem großrestaurant aussieht aber angefangen vom Service bis hin zur Qualität des Essens, waren wir sehr überrascht und positiv beeindruckt! Der Service war über alle Maßen gut und man hat sich stets um uns bemüht und gekümmert und die Pizza als solche, war qualitativ wirklich sehr gut und somit kann ich jedem dieses Restaurant ganz klar empfehlen!

The staff at this location are so friendly. They took on our big group at lunchtime and the service was quick and the food was delicious!

The pizza (Pollo ad Astra) was one flat piece of dough with hardly anything on it. I mean it, wee patches of sauce, a morsel of chicken here and there, a vanishing quantity of cheese. I could hardly believe my eyes what I saw it. All that for £17 I think. The Grand Chicken Caesar was anything but grand, a truly small portion with a dab of dressing (I'd have enjoyed more). I didn't like the taste the way they do it, chicken mixed with anchovies but I don't blame them for that, my bad I didn't see it contained the anchovies. Main complaint a vanishingly small portion.

Christian the manager was brilliant! So supportive, friendly and the food was great! We will return, as it’s great to find a manager who’s happy to help and support customers with their needs! Thanks again for a great night🙂

On my way to a meeting, I stopped off at the restaurant. I was immediately greeted and taken to a table. Menus and glass of wine and pitcher of water arrived quickly. I ordered the Marinated Green Olives as a starter. The bowl arrived in good time and was a very generous portion. My main course was their "signature pasta dish" Pollo Pesto. The food was enjoyable and again a large portion. However I felt that the quantity of cheese was inadequate and it would have been greatly improved if there had been some parmesan or similar grated on top. The really sad item was the wilted green leaf with blackened edges that was perched on top of the dish. Why did the chef put an obviously scruffy, passed-it piece of foliage on the plate? However I was really impressed by the waiting staff who were attentive and professional. Shame the kitchen wasn't as impressive.

Came here a few months back with my parents as we had just visited the castle and were looking for somewhere for dinner. Popped in here and were given a nice, quiet table away from a big party on the other side of the restaurant. the staff were so friendly and attentive and one waiter in particular (didn't get his name unfortunately) was super kind as I had a really sore throat so he kindly took me over some green tea and lemon and was super sympathetic. The food came quick and was really good and they even gave us a box to takeaway what we couldn't eat inside. Would definitely come back in the future.

Had a nice lunch here a couple of days ago. Social distancing was being observed along with sanitizing so it felt very comfortable. Food was tasty and staff friendly. So good to have a meal out after lockdown.

Debo señalar que la mayoría de los precios de los alimentos en el Reino Unido son casi el doble de lo que pagaríamos en Australia.Teníamos una muy buena pizza vegetariana de buen tamaño cada una, servida en nuestra mesa de manera oportuna. Además, un refresco costaba 34 o casi $ 70 Au $. Nunca más a esos precios, seguro que vuelve a Greg's.

Das Essen war absolut ok. Auch wenn nicht alles so kam wie bestellt. Aber beim bezahlen fing der Ärger an.Wir wurden gefragt ob wir noch etwas möchten,.und wir verneinten, da viele noch Getränke hatten, darauf hin wurde uns dann gleich unaufgefordert die Rechnung gebracht.Da wir eine Gruppe von 8 Personen waren, wollten wir gerne getrennt zahlen. Die Bedienung wollte aber nicht selbst ausrechnen was jeder zu bezahlen hatte, sondern wir sollten es selbst ausrechnen und ihr die Beträge nennen. Fanden wir etwas seltsam, haben wir aber dann getan. Als dann alle gezahlt hatten, mit Trinkgeld, kam die Dame dann noch mal zurück.Wir hätten den Service Aufschlag, der ab 7 Personen fällig wäre nicht mit bezahlt. Darüber waren wir sehr überrascht, denn sie wollte jetzt noch 12,5% von der Endsumme extra haben . Das wäre wohl auf der Speisekarte vermerkt, aber niemand von uns hatte das gelesen. Stand wohl irgend wo ganz winzig .Ein kleiner Hinweis darauf wäre nett gewesen. Gezwungener weise haben wir halt dann bezahlt.Waren aber sehr verärgert das wir schon gutes Trinkgeld gegeben hatten und jetzt noch mal extra bezahlen mussten. Und 12,5% ist schon ganz schön happig.

After nearly three weeks in London visiting our son and family we took the train to London Bridge foa last stroll ending with an excellent meal at the Pizza Express. Could not have asked for better.

Very good and quick mid afternoon service and food. Very good standard gluten free pizza. Clean venue in good area of Edinburgh. Very busy long wait for some to get a table but we were very lucky. 👍🍻

We went here with 2 vegan friends specifically for their vegan menu during the fringe only to find it wasn’t available during the festival- items were on the main menu but not the full choice the friends had previously experienced - we had a pleasant enough meal but annoyed a chain with the vegan menu displayed in the window and only removed after I said something could put volume turnover over customer experience.

During a 10 day family vacation in Scotland I noticed several Pizza Express locations. I figured that with multiple locations that all seemed busy they must be pretty successful and must therefore be quite good.We decided to give it a try and came away unimpressed. I don’t have any major complaints, but didn’t find the pizza to be particularly fantastic. The food was ok and the service was acceptable. We did ask for a simple variation on the kids meal for our younger child. He just wanted plain buttered noodles and they tried to make that, but the noodles came out baked to inedible crisps. The server explained that they bake their pasta in sauces and don’t boil noodles, so they weren’t set up to service plain buttered noodles. They removed the charge for the rock hard noodles without me asking them to do so, so I give them high marks for that, but that good action was offset by the server who was not particularly pleasant - she wasn’t rude but also sure wasn’t putting forth much effort to provide good service. Perhaps she was just having a bad day at work. Anyone wanting pizza in Edinburgh might want to give this place a try. I didn’t do much for me, but I may be spoiled by some incredible pizza in my hometown in the US. This meal was the probably the least impressive and least enjoyable during a 10 day vacation. A single restaurant is not going to appeal to every person, so while I didn’t really enjoy my meal very much, many other people may really enjoy the food and the atmosphere.

Excellent and friendly service by the staff. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated immediately and our food was served quickly and efficiently. There was a slightly reduced menu due to the Tattoo (presume quick turnaround) but still plenty of choice. I had a pizza and my wife had lasagne. Both were delicious. As ever we used our Tesco vouchers so vastly reduced our bill. A very handy location for our visit to the Tattoo and not ripped off by high prices as many places in the area do!

Food was good and prompt, waiter took a long time with the bill and had to ask another waitress to complete our payment despite it not being particularly busy...

I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price for a meal at pizza express. The beauty is no matter which branch I’ve always found it’s consistent and the service is always great.

Visited this restaurant on Saturday night, very enjoyable but as I went to toilet my feet left me as the floor in front of area where pizzas are cooked was like an ice rink. This was reported to head manager who took 10 minutes to speak to us. He said there had been a notice put up regarding the slippy floor as a few people had fell and said that this had been reported to head office. This is not acceptable as an older person could seriously hurt themselves. The head waiting was unconcerned and wrote the incident down on A4 paper and started laughing with other staff when he left our table. Very sore arm after falling

Wee vist here for the first time and it was busy but the service was good and very friendly wee where there for lunch and the choice of bits of pizza on the lunch offer was really good also the as much can eat sales was great along with the dressing for it I wood defo recommend going here it's lovely inside and very clean

Just love pizza express for a tasy pizza and bottle of rose with my friend. This visit to George IV Bridge was good, friendly and enjoyable. Pizza was a bit hotter than expected, but hey it was so good. Got the birthday bottle of rose complimentary too - that's just fab.

We were staying at the RadissonCollection Hotel, next door and popped in here for a quick meal. It was so good, we stopped in on our last night in town for another meal.Our party of 4 enjoyed pizza, Pollo Pesto Chicken, Lasagna. Caesar salads, mixed salad and breads. All excellent.

We had the super food salad with chicken x 3, with oiives whilst waiting for our order. Just salad but tasty and surprisingly filling; delicious glass of Chardonnay. Very good service for which we left a tip. We would return when we plan to go back to Edinburgh.

D’extérieur très attractif nous avons été placée (2 personnes) très rapidement. Prise de commande simple 1 pizza et 1 cannelloni... 2 apéros avec des olives. Jusque là tout va bien. Boissons servies en 5 mn mais olives réclamées 2 fois pour pouvoir les manger avec l’apéro...Quand aux plats on a attendu plus d’une heure avec des excuses bidons!!!!! Autant dire qu’on n’a pas pris de dessert... C’est pas parce qu’on est des touristes qu’on est des pigeons!!A fuir!!!!

Food was as you would expect from Pizza Express, visit was marred by the airconditioning unit pumping out cold air, staff informed us they could not turn it off as the fans in the kitchen were broken????? wouldn't go again.

Found the staff a bit off the mark apart from one great lady. Didn't bring the extras we ordered, hard to get attention when asking (kitchen quite far back from the front which doesn't help) but food ok. New additions to the menu didn't go down well with our party but not branch fault.

Das Essen war toll, das lokal ist gut zu erreichen und hat einen tollen Service.Lasagne war frisch und lecker. Die Calamari sind als Starter sehr zu empfehlen. Das Essen ging sehr schnell.Allerdings würde ich mir wünschen, dass wenn man Whisky bestellt, gefragt wird ob man den Whisky mit Eis, Wasser oder Pur möchte. Das ist immer ein persönliches Ding. Ich trinke ihn immer Pur und er wurde mit viel Eis serviert, was dafür sorgte, dass der Whisky sehr schnell verwässerte. Für das nächste mal sag ich es aber einfach.

From experience this is the best pizza express in Edinburgh. When we arrived we were advised that there might be a delay on food (it was pretty busy for a Sunday!) but it was clear the staff were doing everything they could to keep service flowing- well done them. As we had a starter we had no delay at all and the food was great. Great value too as we used a voucher code.

I went here for a quick hot dinner, whilst staying near by. When I received my order of Pasta Bolagnase, the pasta was so undercooked it was crunchy, the sauce was barely hot and when advised the wait staff acted as though I was an inconvenience. I felt overlooked and as an inconvenience as a solo diner. The staff seemed more concerned with private conversation than with decent service. Won’t be recommending any one eat here ever.

We visited Pizza Express on the 30th of December just before Edinburgh's torchlight parade so it was busy....very busy. That said, we had booked and were seated and served promptly. Our Pizzas were tasty and nicely presented.Drinks were a wee bit expensive but not outlandishly so.

Good selection of pizzas to choose from. And they are tasty. Friendly staff. Can be crowded thus might need to wait for a while for the food to arrive.

Booked a table on line for 6:15 pm Saturday didn’t realise by booking that I would be offered what must be the worst possible table in Edinburgh if not Scotland sticking out into a passage way that customer and staff use as the main thoroughfare. One of the seats sticks out and you will be constantly disturbed. We asked for another table but was told this was all they had. We told the sitter down that we would leave. But the magically was offered a good table with 3 tables for 2.
