Newly visiting Edinburgh we fancied a chilled night and a kebab was absolutely delicious and the donner wrap was massive - gent behind the counter was lovely and friendly and even offered to recook the pizza as he thought it was a little over good but was still amazing not sure what they use for pizza base but YUMYYYYYY was kind of like a paratha base highly recommend

Delicious food when it comes to Kebab. Delicious skewers with chicken and fresh vegetables. Kebab is cooked on the spot open plate and you can see that the meat looks nice and fresh. Chosen for a quick bite based on previous reviews. The owner is passionate about his food and home made sauces.

A highly recommended restaurant, the portions are huge and the ingredients are generous and not merciless. One box is very filling for two people. There are a variety of varieties. The red fried chicken is a huge piece, the skin is crispy, the meat is tender, and it tastes very filling. The mutton has no fishy smell, and there are many sauces to choose from. Cheap and affordable There are simple seats for indoor use The boss is very friendly and the experience is great

I got a kebab here a couple days ago and it was great. Today I wanted another kebab but they weren't open yet so I bought one from down the street and it was horrible. I waited until #1 was open and got one from there. It was superb! The service was top notch. I couldn't be happier. I've eaten kebabs on three continents and this was definitely #1. Their name says it all! Highly recommended.

Great take away spot in Haymarket. We got chicken kebabs, mixed kebabs, and a pizza. They were all excellent and the owner hand made the entire order. He took great pride in his product and was super friendly.

Amazing kebab shop! Enjoyed it so much we came back both nights we were in Edinburgh. We had chicken wings, doner kebabs, chips and curry (the night before) and everything was fabulous and fresh. Highly recommend!

We had the lamb doner, chicken wings with salad and chips. The food was amazing and the garlic sauce is home made. The guys were friendly and went above and beyond, we highly recommend you try this place when you visit Edinburgh and are in the Haymarket area.

was in edinburgh for the week and went here most nights after a few pints. open late and the service was AMAZING!! gave me free soda and candy bars a few time lol. plus the quality of food was good. can’t ask for a better late night food :) especially when everything else is closed!!!

Was in Edinburgh last weekend. Stopped in here for a kebab looking for a quick bite around 1am. Got a mixed kebab with all the trimmings, food was fresh, delicious, portions were great and service top notch. If I'm ever in the area again I'm going there.

I’ve been coming here for over 9 years. The original owner’s Ahmet and Berat are absolute legends. They sort me out every time. The food is delicious and fresh and such a hidden gem of a takeway, which is hard to find now a days. I just got a large chicken kebab, 12” chicken and mushroom pizza, chips and chicken pakora. Everything was fresh and tasty. I’d highly recommend this place if you’re close by or even out for a night out. Great service with a smile. I’ll be back!

Best service ever, great guys too

Avoid avoid avoid. They overcharge. Used card to pay for food that should have been around £5, instead found a £22 charge applied to my bank. Be sure to check amount before using card / contactless for payment. See similar reviews with same complaint so it seems to be a regular thing of theirs.

Can't get a shish kebab where I live, so quite pleased when I found this. "Is it home made chilli sauce?" I asked. Yes, he said. I then saw squirty bottle chilli being used on other orders 🤮 Changed my order to sweet chilli, which I was also told was home made, but was squirted from a mass produced bottle available from Costco etc. Salad was not marinated as it is in London, where shish kebabs are fantastic . £11 seemed excessive as a result. It filled my belly, but I was left a little disappointed.

I ate the best pizzas in Edinburgh here. The shop is very clean and the owner Berat is very friendly. I can only recommend it to everyone.

Poped In on 06/08/2023 order two Shish chicken. It was really nice the owner was really polite and friendly with soft personality. I have asked for additional extra item in busy time he always welcome me the same smile and respect. All staff were really good and professionally trained. Definitely Recommended

Got some chips omw from work on a Tuesday night. Servers were very pleasant and accommodating, got some kebab meat on the house as well. It tasted quite nice too so it was an overall lovely experience.

Today I visited the No 1 Kebab Shop with my family. The food quality is very good and the quantity is also valued for the money. I met with a staff, named Firat; he showed a good customer service, particularly to young child. He expressed extra care to my child. I am really expressed by the customer service.

Watch out for being double charged. I was walking my friend home when he saw this place. I had heard bad things and advised him against it. He ignored me and went in. I was proven right! The place was quiet, there were 3 people in front of us and there was 2 things on the menu. Donner or "chicken". My pal asked for a donner kebab and then waited patiently. A rush of young women came in and all focus was lost on order tracking. We watched as order after order was given out without my friends coming up. After 10 minutes he sheepishly asked about his order. The man tried to charge us a second time. When we refused to pay a second time after insisting that payment was already made, èthey dismissed us and went back to gawking at the girls. It took us a banking app to prove that we had paid already before even one of them would take us seriously and the kebab was produced. Barely an apology from the man who had to admit the mistake after we had shown the withdrawal in the banking ap. The bad things i had heard was, it's a rip off merchant. They will double charge you or add extra charges for made up items. I was proven right in this case. They prey on drunk people to turn an extra profit and have no shame in doing so. I have never recommended this kebab house, and I never will!

Ordered some food tonight and we were disappointed. It arrived lukewarm and looked a bit sad. The chips, cheese and donner meat was awful. Small portion of each and all seemed terrible quality. The chicken kebab was tasty but again ordered large and the portion size wasn't great. Would not recommend or order again.

£21 for two terrible and small kebabs and 2 cans of juice. Not on.

Visited last week. We got chips and cheese, veg pakora and chkn tikka kebab. Charged £16.10 which was dearer than menu stated. Chkn tikka had donner thrown in which we can't eat, veg pakora was mostly flour. Chips and cheese was horrible. Most disappointed with fact they thought they cld charge us more as we'd had a few drinks. Shame on you 😡

Unfortunately they refuse to listen to your order and cut you short when you try to confirm this order. We ordered three items, received only two with the staff determined we had only ordered two things, probably due to repeatedly interrupting our order to tell us they already have everything we are trying to ask for...oh and both the things they bothered to give us were wrong! The food would have been fine had they actually given us what we asked for ...but they didn't. Although their chilli sauce has no spice, the food was alright. Your main hurdle here is getting them to actually take your order without deciding to give you what they want to give you instead

Busy takeaway. We had the mixed kebab and chips, which was nice. Garlic sauce is not very garlicky, sadly.

We were greeted by a lovely gentleman playing a Kurdish instrument in the background. He proceeded to cook the food for us and it was of good quality. Would recommend for a little kebab stop after a few drinks.

Asked for chicken wrapped kebab which was £7 But I did get "large shish" which was maybe 5 small pices of chicken. I was charged £9 for this tiny kebab. Really disappointed!

Quite average food compared to their expensive price

Not impressed at all, ordered a take away doner kebab and when I got back to my hotel across the road it was already cold, they hadn't even bothered to warm the pitta bread on the grill, it had been pre toasted earlier and was cold.

Great place and service, really friendly staff and plenty of food. Highly recommended for no fuss fast food 👍 As with all reviews some can be positive, and some can be negative. Try this place for yourself and make up your own mind. English isn't the best at times, however I've been coming here for the past few years and have never had a problem. A bit of patience goes a long way.

Hey guys just a little heads up, warning, what ever you wanna call it, especially for women. So Saturday night me and my boyfriend were coming back from Glasgow, got off the train at Haymarket and headed up Morrison street to get good at No.1 Kebab at about 12:30/1am. When we got there, there was a man already in the shop that was giving his number to the two men working in the kebab shop and saying he'd come back and pay for his food tomorrow (seemed a little weird but kinda shrugged it off). We ordered a cheese pizza and chips. And waited about five minutes before overhearing one of the guys working saying to the other guy working about a meat feast pizza, chose to ignore this because another person was coming and going from the shop and presumed it was their order. We were called up to get our food which was in fact a meat pizza. We explained that that wasn't what we had ordered and we wanted a cheese pizza and then man tried to barter with us to get us to just pay for this pizza, which wasn't what we ordered. We refused and he explained he'd have to make a new pizza. Another ten minutes later he notices that my boyfriend is holding his bank card as means of payment and says that the card machine isn't working. We explain we have no cash on us. (Surely you must explain to someone before they order that it's cash only, and in a pandemic too!!!) My boyfriend goes away to the cash machine across the road and just up from the kebab shop but comes back to explain that cash machine is out of service. The two men working are starting to get frustrated and try to explain where another cash machine might be but as a local I knew where he was explaining there wasn't a cash machine. He told us we could come back with the money tomorrow, or bank transfer and at that point I just felt extremely uncomfortable and explained to my boyfriend that i think we should just leave it. The men started trying to offer us the food for free, which we declined and started to walk away as one of the men is shouting at us and starting to follow us up the street. Thankfully for us he left us alone. When we got home my boyfriend told me that the reason he didn't go looking for a second cash point was because he would have been out of view of the kebab shop and felt that these men may be dangerous and although we can't say or prove anything, for my safety he didn't want to leave me alone where he couldn't see what was happening. I want to know if anyone else has had a similar experience with this kebab shop or anything negative. Mostly just a word of warning to the community about some absolutely awful service and I would hate to think that I didn't warn people and something worse happened to them. Watch out guys.

I walked in at approximately 0120, the owner was closing, however, I asked for a cheeseburger, and the answer was yes. The cheeseburger was £4, I asked for some kebab meat on the side to make it up to a fiver, again, no problem. The food was tasty, burger had good flavour, and salad on the bun was fresh. Will definitely return, as I’m local. Pizza prices looked great, compared to the same from the main branded pizza places. Get in, and support this place, rather than Dominoes and Pizza Hut.

The guy was quit brazan about the fact he could not speak any English apart from declaring the prices and basic you want sauce salad etc. Women on the till was rude and unkempt put loud pop music on even though nobody asked for it r again could not understand even basic English . A disgrace I;m just glad we now have a Prime Minister who cares about his own people unlike the Scottish government who don't at all. If people are going to open high charging business's to exploit post pub croweds there should be certain checks and balances. In Scotland there are non. The food was no bad but the price was a rip off nearly a tenner for a take away kebab . Tomatoes had wrinkles .

I visited this small establishment twice in 3 days on a visit to the capital. On my first visit I ordered a 10" ham, mushroom and spicy beef pizza for £9. Wow, it's the 2nd spiciest/hottest pizza I've ever had! The second visit was a small lamb shish kebab at £7.50, which again was fine enough. The staff were friendly/efficient, but when I saw them sat outside their shop, having a cigarette, then going inside and preparing our food without cleaning up, or putting on gloves I thought "we'll suffer tomorrow!" This needs to change.

Ok no. Just no. I went there two times. The first one I ordered a pizza. It had no taste. It was like I was eating just dough. I paid £9.00-10.00. Ok no. Second chance came after a long time when I ordered a chicken wrap. 5 small pieces of chicken and then just salads. He put in the whole wrap ONE SLICE OF TOMATO. He filled it with cabbage, onions and that's it. Really?! I gave £7.00 for a salad wrap. No way.
