Pizza Express in Edinburgh, City of

Enjoyable lunch, lovely waitress (Tilly, I think). Asked where we would like to sit but I replied that she probably knows best.....at which point she showed us to a lovely quiet table. Look it's Pizza Express, Edinburgh - a UK pizza chain rather than some pizzeria on the shore of Lake Como, Italy. We use this Queensferry Road branch because it's consistently good. Thanks to the team.

Didn’t seem very busy but we waited 50min for our pizzas which is just too long. The pizzas were good but quite small considering the prices. Wouldn’t come here again.

It was the second time I went to Pizza Express, the first time in Manchester, and I was pleasantly surprised, and I left a great review. So, I wanted to come back here in Edinburgh, but it was very different. The service in this place is really poor and unfriendly. I have some dairy intolerances, and the waitress didn't even know if the salad was vegan and told me to take it without dressing. Of course, she never smiled. Maybe I should have paid extra for that. Also, the quality of the pizzas is bad. I took a Roman giardiniera that should be thin, but on one side, it was so thin that it was burnt. On the other side, it was a centimetre thick and rubbery. Also, when it was brought to me, it was already cold. On top, there was an artichoke broken into four or five tiny pieces, a tiny piece of mushroom and one tiny cherry tomato. That's it. There was practically nothing on it, totally tasteless. I really couldn't believe it. Of course, I didn't leave a tip, I won't go back there, and I won't advise anyone to go there. I shouldn't have even accepted it. I should have walked away, but I was coming back from work, and I was hungry, but I had to leave this review because it's right like this, as I feel robbed and mocked.

If I had know that your portion of potatoes was so miserable I wouldn't have ordered it. All the food arrived also cold. I spent more than 40 pounds. I will think twice next time.

My server was Aga and she was a delight and so on top of everything. I got the new mushroom truffle pizza and as a former New Yorker I can say its thin crust and perfect topping ratio was perfect. I ate the whole freaking thing and didn’t even take a picture. Granted I walked a lot today but I couldn’t stop it was so delicious and not heavy. Def recommend.

Food was cold on delivery. Not blaming delivery guy. He was very polite and respectful He helped the star rating, from going lower Sides were stingy, with regards to amount Know people have to make a living But less was just that. Less. It's Pizza Express at its best. If you like Pizza Express food, the location of this particular restaurant is great for an evening meal, so you can for a drink afterwards. Great service from staff. Atmosphere is good. Some of the round tables are a bit small for the big pizza plate. Make sure you are seated at the back.

Great food, server Aga was terrific

Would have liked to review the food and drink but didn’t get a chance to order any! Have just left a quiet pizza express in west end with wife and daughter as nobody bothered to serve us after being seated for ages. We were given menus and that was it. Waitress spent all her time trying to sort out an internet issue and sort other customers bills whilst the duty manager walked around and paid zero attention to asking us if we wanted anything so we ended up walking out. As we left we were given very empty apologies by both members of staff! For what! Neither of them bothering to come and take a drinks or food order or pay any attention at all in a quiet restaurant! Absolutely useless management. Good luck in there.

Wonderful location. Doughballs were really good. Pizza was to die for. Flavor galore. Perfectly made. Great portion as well. Music is all over the map. We waited longer for our ticket than our food. We asked 2x. It was just so long we didn’t understand bc it was empty. It was a Tues night. Not sure if server had a bad day or what.

Dreadful changes to delivery times and I messaged cancellation. Phoned restaurant who suggested that courier may have stolen the food. Angrily disappointed as app showed courier stationary in Slateford for almost an hour

My food arrived an hour and forty five minutes after ordering and arrived cold. I am really disappointed and will request a refund

Disappointing experience at Pizza Express Queensferry St, Edinburgh. Usually a safe bet for good pizza and service but not yesterday. Front of house guy was unfriendly and unwelcoming and looked very stressed for an averagely busy Sunday afternoon. Sat us at a table staff had been sitting at without tidying up or replenishing cutlery, napkins or glasses. Grumped when asked for a high chair and said he knew nothing about it despite me discussing it earlier that day with a colleague - quote ‘nobody told me, I just started’. He would benefit from some customer care training. It felt like everything was too much effort for him and spoilt the experience of going out for a bite to eat with family. To top it off the pizza I had which I usually love (garlic prawn on classic base) was stodgy with a minimum of topping, more cherry tomatoes than prawn. I’ve been visiting Pizza Express for years and it was by far the worst experience I’ve had. The front of house guy was obviously having a bad day but that shouldn’t impact on customer enjoyment.

Food was great! Service was also very good. Our food was made fast and well made. Hoping to come back another day! Very nice!

Walk in Sunday evening and were welcomed. Lovely staff and nice new menu (since our last visit). Loved the new DUO options.

I am generally a big fan of this chain & I always make a point of ya big a pizza at Pizza Express BIT this was utterly disappointing. The dough had bits charred others undercooked. I had requested extra anchovies that were hardly noticeable. Overall super disappointing & not up to standard

Great experience! Delicious food! Kamil welcomed us, he was very warm and professional. During the whole time, he took care of us better than I could have expected. Perfect service! The food was ready very quickly which made us very happy because we were very hungry. Everything was so delicious! Every request was heard and fulfilled. Thank you for such a wonderful time. We will definitely come back soon!

Good value, nice meal and friendly staff.

The flavor was good. If they added more cheese and cooked the pizza longer, it would be a 4 star for food. Pizza dough was good and salad was fresh. Brownie bites were good and rich.

When we arrived the restaurant was very busy, which is usually a good sign. However, the food was not very good at all. I ordered prawn pepperonata which was a penne dish. Some of the penne was burnt at the edges. Just how you manage to burn penne I do not know. The sauce was more of a coating for the penne than a real sauce and there were some rather small and overcooked prawns. My wife ordered a margarita pizza which was rather skimpily topped. At £16.45 for the prawn dish this was well over-priced for what was a pretty poor approximation of Italian food.

I often collect a takeaway from this branch. Food is always tasty. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Always deliver in terms of quality and service.

Usually love the food but not the usual standard tonight. Garlic butter missing for the dough balls. Only five bits of chicken on the piccolo pizza and bruschetta was greasy and well done. Cost of all takeaways are shooting up so for the price I want to enjoy the food. Bit of a miss tonight.

Pizza Express Queensferry Street Edinburgh. It’s a while since we have been to this Pizza Express and looks like its a while since other guests have been also, we were the only people there ! Lunch at 1pm should be busier than this. We were shown to a table in the back area which was nice and sunny , would be even brighter if the green mould on the glazed roof was washed off. A very friendly and helpful waitress took our order for drinks and pizza which all arrived very quickly , probably due to the fact only one other couple had turned up. The pizza was good but as long term customers we can’t help but notice that the Leggera pizza is getting smaller and that the fillings on the Romana much less too. At £16.75 & £15.75 it’s beginning to be poor value. Nice bottle of Nero D’Avola £24.25 price in Ask £17.95 ! MATTO pizza do much better pizzas for around the £12 mark, so a bit concerned that Pizza Express seem to be slipping with quality. My photos will show previous pizza’s and their generous fillings compared to now. Hopefully this was just a blip and not a trend to save money as we do like Pizza Express pizza’s and will go again to try another day.

There was an item missing from my order so disappointing

This was the worst food! The pizza was delivered in time but was the wrong pizza and old and very cold! Starter bruschetta was un edible and had to be binned! The desert was a small cheap frozen cheese cake and a massive disappointment for the price! I will never order again!

All toilets bar one cubicle were out of use which is no good in a busy restaurant but other than that the food was as good as ever.

This is absolutely ridiculous! I ordered a couple of pizzas to my flat and the address was right but the pin was wrong. I don’t know where the driver left it but it wasn’t here. I was never contacted to say they were having trouble finding my place and I had no way of contacting them. I submitted a refund and I never got the option to get the delivery and tip back and there’s no way of contacting anyone. This is disgusting! I’m appalled at not only the actions of the driver but lack of contacts

Pre-booked visit to celebrate my sons 9th birthday. He had chosen this restraunt for his birthday meal. From the moment we stepped through the door I regretted our descision to eat here. There was no warm welcome. The man who I believe was the manager on that day, came down to the stand and just put his hand to his ear at me and never spoke. At this point we should have just walked straight back out but my son had been looking forward to this meal. Things continued to get worse when he brought our food over, he did not place it down on the table. Bizarrely, he just held the plate above my son. I can only assume he was expecting some sort of response from him. My son is disabled and unable to communicate so became distressed. We didn't stay for dessert as planned and left upset and angry.

Original table we were put in probably the worst on the floor but it was easy to move to a better place. Our orders were swiftly taken and the food came on a timely basis. I wasn’t too wowed by the few jalapeños I got as an extra filling but all the food was very tasty. Used the app to tip and check out which I find hugely useful. We are gold members so clearly fans of this chain.

This is a cosy pizzeria that's perfect for both quick workday lunches with friends or colleagues when you fancy a hot lunch in a rush, or more leisurely drawn out family friendly affairs. The staff are friendly and efficient. While some of the starters I've had have been mediocre, the menu is extensive, and the pizzas and desserts are yummy. The bill can get expensive if you're paying the menu prices, but they often run special offers in their app which can be combined if more than one person at the table is registered to add up to some quite generous savings.

Food was not cooked the sauce was stuck together in big clumps and the pasta was solid nearly 16 pound for a pasta and couldn’t even eat it very disappointed

We had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at this Pizza Express venue. We'd booked way in advance as we knew it would be busy just before Christmas, service was excellent, despite how busy it was and the food and wine did not disappoint. We ordered the seasonal dough balls in blankets, which were absolutely delightful, 3 Romana pizza's with various toppings and the seasonal dough balls with cinnamon and icing sugar and a salted caramel dipping sauce, simple but a game changer in desserts. Our meal was leisurely, we weren't in the least bit hurried, the time between courses was just right and a perfect way to catch up with friends before Christmas. I thanked the manager and staff as we were leaving, we really couldn't fault the experience. Thank you so much.

I've ordered my food at 13:00 and it came at 17:00. That's a 4 hours wait

My friend and I booked a table here for dinner this evening and she asked to sit at a different table further away from the draughty front door (restaurant 1/3 full) and it was then downhill after that with the waiter (initials JW, as don't know if he can be named). He was incredibly rude and ignored both of us when we tried to speak to him. I then went and stood right beside him and asked 3 times for a menu and each time he completely blanked me. The chef who was beside him looked at him and me and back at him. We spoke to another member of staff about him and there was an acknowledgement that that's what he's like. It was incredibly unprofessional behaviour and he shouldn't be working with the public.

ridiculous customer experience - dont order there you order pizza, it arrives cold, and the wine you ordered has been forgotten. 90 pounds for cold pizza and wine that comes later on second delivery. weakest pizza delivery experience i have ever had.

Worst Pizza Express meal we’ve ever had. Ordered a home delivery and literally everything was cold. Paid extra to be delivered to first and yet food was terrible. Pasta still hard, halloumi not cooked, pizza rubbish. Will never use this one again!

We had a lovely lunch here. We had two toddlers - the kids menu is brilliant. The vegan giardinera was great as always. The waitress was really helpful. The only thing is that the disabled toilet/baby changing is hidden and not signposted - next to the kitchen. There should be a sign at the top of the stairs to stop people going down to discover there's no baby changing.

The driver rang my buzzer but I could not let him in. By the time I got down to the stair door he was driving off. Why can’t the drivers contact you via the.app or by phone if there is an issue. Over an hour waiting and still got no lunch!!! Going to stop using just eat as other apps are better!!

Arrived without a reservation as a table of 6 and were quickly seated. Drinks order was taken, then a short while after food orders placed, drinks arrived starters were quite quick in arriving, then it was a long wait for main courses, 3 of the party had picked double portions from the kids menus, all arrived as single portions, the 2nd portions arrived, but sadly for one of the kids their pasta was not very edible and she left all the pasta, one of the pizzas has a pretty burnt edge to it, and I saw other tables get the same. So although the food was good, the service was very slow and orders not given correctly. I think this chain needs to re-address the word Express in their title

On our first trip to Scotland we went to Pizza Express on our first evening in Edinburgh. The first meal was so delicious, we went there again on the second evening as well. Thumbs up for the people over there, the service and the good food!

Calamari was tender (not chewy, which is a common mistake in other restaurants) but it was not crispy at all. Good though overall.

Excellent service despite being very short staffed . The server explained that we may have to wait a little as they were very busy . Nonetheless our wine was served immediately and other than after a wait of 10 mins our food arrived . We did note that the manager who welcomed us, showed us to our table was also making pizza’s and dealing with other customers ! Nonetheless he was kindly courteous and efficient when we pointed out that we had a VIP discount and fixed out our bill. We will certainly return and commend him and his staff . Dr I K … and AW . Normal pizzas were great, however I wouldn't recommend ordering gluten free pizzas from here. It was all sauce and barely any cheese.

Went for my friends 40th birthday, found the service very slow I got half carbonara and half pizza sharing with a friend we found it was not very hot.

Friendly place. Service was quick. Pizza was great. Drinks were good and well priced. The price was very reasonable.

Ahh the first of many places I visited when arriving in Edinburgh and it will certainly won't be my last! The staff were very welcoming and had a charming twinkle in their eye while the food was as amazing as a Sunday morning stoll in Switzerland.

Bizarre to have to complain about a lack of cheese on a two pizzas. Plenty of toppings and almost no cheese! Not bothering with that again.

Value for money is not the case here. I understand that the late arrival time of our meal was due to the availability of couriers but when it arrived we were very disappointed with the size of the pizzas versus the price. For a meal of two little pizzas, and I mean little, and three side dishes to cost over £50 is not on. We will not be ordering again.

The pasta was hard and inedible had to throw it away the pasta was 15 pounds and couldn't be eaten. Contacted just eat for a refund still waiting 2 and 1/2 weeks and still nothing. Will not be ordering from here again. Not the first time I've been sent orders with items missing that I paid for and never received.
