Friendly welcome when we arrived. Cheery waitress. Delicious food. Love the GF pizzas

I’ve never left a bad review for a restaurant before but I truly think this is deserving of a 1 star. Despite the restaurant being almost empty it took is a little over 20 minutes to be served after we had been seated. There was apparently no ice for the drinks but as this was not their fault I’m not overly bothered about this. The polenta chips are advertised to be served with a honey mustard dip, instead I was served an empty sauce bowl alongside them. After we had finished it then took another 20 minutes of waiting for the bill until we finally looked up if we could pay online as we had spent longer waiting to be served altogether than it took to actually eat our mediocre meals. I was told they were unable to make the original martini I had chosen as there was no ice so I swapped this for a significantly cheaper Diet Coke however upon checking the online receipt I was still charged for the martini. I honestly could not be bothered to wait anymore so just left and did not bother trying to get the attention of a server to rectify this as we had already waited enough.

This used to be a really good joint with great atmosphere and great service. I used to be a regular here prepandemic as well as during the pandemic. However, postpandemic i have been there twice recently and it’s very different- not just the decor. Some of the old staff are still there but the staff morale is poor and service quality has definitely dropped a few notches down. The disabled toilet with baby changing facilities were closed due to a fault. The ladies toilet also had only one toilet cubicle open! That too didn’t have toilet paper. The sinks were clean and had running water but no soap in the dispensers!! The dough balls served to kids were burnt!! And to too it up- the food for the adults were badly made. No one came to check that the food was fine or not. The bill in the end was wrong as well and got overcharged for things. Even during the pandemic and postpandemic (last year) they were doing well. However, both times i have visited with family in 2024 has been very disappointing!

Had a really nice meal here on the 10th Feb. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and what you’ve come to expect from Pizza Express, really tasty, good value food. Definitely my preferred Italian food chain.

Enjoyable family meal, food is quite acceptable - prices have gone up but then that's the same across the board. Service was good and the waiter was engaging and pleasant.

A lovely lunch with the most polite young lady waiting on us and coming to check on us. The food was great, we didn't have to wait long for it, well done to the chefs for speed and tastiness. They also pointed out if we download their App we could have FREE dough balls. So we did that. Really nice time was had by all 3 of us

Good return visit to PE. A bit pricey at well over £100 for three people but great service nonetheless. Our waitress was top class.

Me and my friend went in September around 3 pm on a weekday. on arrival, the staff were friendly and welcoming they were taken to our table which was clean and quiet, and the waiter gave us some free water before we ordered. we ordered our food which was two pizzas and dough balls and we waited for it it took an EST 15 minutes for our starters and when we had eaten our dough balls the pizza came out to eat which took around EST 15 minutes to came out we have eaten the pizza and we left great but my only slight negative which was the only one staff out but if it was full and one staff it would have taken longer to get our food.

Visited twice (Friday and Sunday) after updating app and having VIP email for 50% off pizzas until 25 January. On Sunday, I entered the restaurant and was fairly quickly welcomed and I suggested a table where I could sit on a comfortable material seat with high back i.e. at the edge of the restaurant. I chose what I wanted and there seemed to be a slight delay in being noticed, with one server cleaning a table when many tables were available that were already cleaned. But I wasn't too miffed, although I did have to meet a friend afterwards so typically in a bit of a hurry. The waitress was the same person who served me on Friday and the drink delivery was mega fast and the pizza came within a very reasonable amount of time and was freshly cooked and warm. It was the first time I had tried the La Cubana and it was nice to have some different flavours and spices. I paid using cash as I wanted a £5 note in my change. As I am new to using the app, the waitress was very helpful in showing me what to do on my mobile phone app. I had left the waitress a £2 tip on Friday and so did the same on Sunday although didn't get to have the thanks and see you later conversation as waitress was in the back somewhere. But overall I enjoy pizza and the size of the Romana bases are very good although I noted that prices had risen since last time I visited (as in 2023).

A really wonderful experience that myself and my mum had today. My mum had the festive pizza (which she adored) and I had the mushroom and truffle pizza (gluten free), which was delicious. I’ve always said and will continue to recommend Pizza Express for brilliant selection of gluten free dishes and exceptional service. We were served by the wonderful Isabella today, an asset to the team! Staff like Isabella make the experience all the more special.

Went in to dine. No staff at door to welcome. Only 4 diners in the place. I think the chef came over to ask if we wanted to eat ???. Asked for a menu. He threw 3 together on the table. My wife had to walk the length of the place to ask for Christmas menu. He came back to the table with it. We asked for drinks. He walked off. We walked out.

Excellent food, excellent service. We went on a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn’t too busy, can’t fault it at all.

We know pizza express very well as its one of the view places I truly trust to handle my gluten allergy. However, I also just want to comment on this particular branch for a couple of reasons. For one reason, though I know the GF dough is made offsite to a standard recipe, this time the base was particularly delicious, soft and stretchy like a "real" pizza so I don't know if there was something in the way the chef handled it but it was utterly delicious after being so used to the hard, biscuity kind of pizza you usually get doled out when you are GF (I don't mean in Pizza Express as their's are always pretty darn good but in general). I also want to comment on the excellent waitress as I suffer from POTs and arrived through the door just as I was having a really dizzy sugar low moment feeling like I might if I stood a moment longer. She was very quick to clock my distress and ushered me into a comfortable seat at a table right by the door, even though it wasn't quite ready to be used, and asked me what I needed, getting me a drink of water really promptly. She was extremely attentive while I got myself together and with the menu choices and so I was so grateful that it was her serving me on this particular occasion as this is not the kind of service you could hope to expect in a lot of busy high street places these days...this was exceptional.

It’s a really nice restaurant, lovely environment and staff. We ordered one Christmas pizza, tastes pretty good! Got free dough balls. That’s enough for two people! I’ll definitely come back and try other pizzas!!

Staff were great and acommodating and food was really good!

The food was sub par and a hair in my pizza the staff were great however the manager was awful made a useless mistake and tried to blame us refused to apologies or help and made multiple attempts to turn us away with no help until a member of staff gave us an option to help. A smarmy manager. No one checked on us or refilled our glasses or offered us drinks after we had been served food. Easily the worst dining experience of my life. Half the cutlery was dirty

The manager who was on duty was absolutely awful, staff themselves were nice, did everything well, manager made one of our party cry, we booked multiple tables of 8 weeks in advance, they said all will be sorted, came on the day and only had 1 table of 8 and was basically told “it’s not our problem” by the manager, absolutely awful the way he treated us

The restaurant by the Winter Gardens offers superb service. Great food. Front of house staff were excellent

Took my little one to a birthday party, the staff were great, very accommodating, provided colouring books, crayons and party hats, the pizza went down well with my daughter, kept her quiet for all of 20 minutes so thank you ! Just a quick mention to Amber and Fran who were super attentive.

I booked my daughter’s 4th birthday party for 10 children and 6 adults and it was the best birthday she has ever had! I was able to pre-order food and cake day before so no worries about how long food would take and children getting restless. I was allowed to bring a birthday balloon and birthday cake decorations. There were quite a few children that have learning difficulties and this was one of the first parties that they had experienced in a restaurant environment. Thank you so much for making the parents attending feel comfortable and welcome. Special appreciation to Amber, Fran and Rhogan and all the pizza people that gave the time out to show how pizzas are made to the children that were interested.

Well what can I say the service was excellent, the food was excellent and I will keep happily going there thank you very much.

Massive scam. I ordered takeaway from just eat here and my order never arrived. Im pregnant and it’s been two hours of no food and now £30+ down on money not been able to get any response from the restaurant at all and just eat have yet to contact me about where my order went. Im now not able to have my medication on time as I needed to eat. I ordered from pizza express as they did gluten free options and had a good rating and my midwife advised me to do things I enjoyed and relaxed me. Now I’m stressed out because I’m going to now have to wait for my bank to process a refund and can’t afford to be ordering another takeaway and there’s not likely to be anywhere open now either as it’s taken so long for my order to not arrive. I was given almost an hour window for my food to arrive and nothing. If anyone is considering ordering here just don’t waste your time.

The staff are so rude, such bad communication or none at all. I walked out after being sat down for 20m trying to control 5 hungry kids and not receiving any service. Bare in mind the restaurant was more or less empty.

I had a great time in this amazing place. The food was delectable and the ambience was beautiful. I, however, would like to mention strongly about the service there. I can’t remember the name of the girl who served us but she was friendly and attentive. Everything was done right and smoothly by her.

Had a warm visit at Pizza Express and genuinely impressed with the food. Thought it would taste like Pizza Hut in Hong Kong - not worth trying with its food quality goes downhill every time I visit. I came with no expectation of the food cause pizza ain’t my favourite yet not much restaurant to choose from when it was not even 12pm. The staff were attentive and served with bright warming smile, already you could tell it was gonna be a good start of eating here. The BBQ pizza, chicken caesar salad, chicken wings and the pasta were all perfectly fit my appetite. I have zero complaints about them but the passion fruit drink that I forgot to order it less sugar was tooooo sweet for me. And the sofa was a little bit disappointing because it was sticky and the chairs as well. I hope the sitting area would be more hygienic next time:)

Just had two pizzas from here tonight, meat feast and full house both 11”. Wanted to leave s review because the food was excellent, the best pizzas in a long time and the staff were brilliant, very friendly. Can’t believe what we got for the price, but a very clean place, a friendly greeting by lovely staff and fantastic food is well deserving of a mention. We will definitely be coming here again. Well done guys!!!

Pleasant atmosphere and lovely attentive staff. It’s extremely child friendly. 10/10 for the kids menu. At 3 years old my daughter is already a connoisseur of babyccino’s and this is by far the best one she has ever had. It was the first time she has ever requested another one. She loved their bambinoccino’s. The cup and saucer size was perfect too.

Wine arrived in a dirty glass which I had to send back. 2 out of 4 pizzas over cooked and burnt in places. Service was slow though I did get the sense the place was unusually busy.

Went for a quiet meal here with my daughter. The music wasn't too loud, the lights weren't too bright, the food was good and got to us quickly. After a long day this was just what we needed!

Delicious food, clean modern restaurant and fab friendly and helpful staff. We couldn’t decide where to eat but choose here as the place looked welcoming when passing. We both ordered calzone and had a lovely evening with wine too.

Use pizza express quite frequently as their gluten free pizza base is really good. We were very happy with both the food and the service. Hot, tasty and fast delivery even tho the place was really busy. Definitely recommend

We had a lovely time. The newly renovated restaurant provided a very warm atmosphere. The food was lovely and the waitress, Eva, was very attentive and friendly.

My boyfriend and I visited for our anniversary, and it was lovely! The staff decorated our table with balloons and candles. Our waitress Eva was friendly, helpful and attentive. She made sure to ask for any allergies and dietary requirements as we entered the restaurant. The food and drinks were perfect as always, and the refurbishment is beautiful! Love the new look of the restaurant, much more open. Thank you for making such a special memory for us! We will definitely be back.

Been to a few of these pizza express joints. There not great. Over priced rubbish pizzas. Always employee young staff and get rubbish

Service was great. Really friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks came quickly, they let us order a couple of things not on the menu. Couldn't fault them. They even gave me a giant tiramisu. Everyone had a good time.

Food was pretty good but service was really poor. Took an age to order starters. They arrived fairly swiftly after. Food was nice. We had brushetta and doughballs for starter then chicken pasta and American pizza for main. We ordered extra drinks as we received mains and they never came. Staff vacant and not particularly bothered when we pointed it out. Way overpriced for poor service and mediocre food. Sick of restaurants like this short-changing customers with this average serving. 2/5 and will not return. Save your money

Great menu, lots of options. I thought the food was just okay, but that's just me. I wasn't expecting extravagant dishes after all. My partner, however, really enjoyed everything he ordered. The atmosphere was quite nice and the staff was friendly. After reading the previous reviews, I was expecting a very slow dining experience, but that was not the case at all. Everything went smoothly and all in good time. It's not like it was a quiet evening either. Overall, we had a good experience here. Would come again to try different dishes.

Before heading to The Leadmill had a lovely La Reine pizza followed by a tasty cheesecake. My partner enjoyed her classic American Hot pizza and Tiramisu.

£14 for a childs size portion of food for an adult. Went to a takaway afterwards cos still hungry. Total rip off.

Food was tasty and service was good, but some of the pasta in the carbonara was burnt which was strange. Dough balls are always 10/10. The student discount is a bonus as well

We had booked and the place has been very good. call me old but I'm a fan of places where music from the 80's is played. The starters have been very tasty: calamari, chicken legs and pizza doughs. Then we have ordered pizzas and pasta. In my case, I ordered a BBQ pizza and shared it with a friend who ordered a garlic prawns pizza. It's been delicious. I am giving it 4 stars because in my humble opinion we had to wait too long for the food. Nonetheless, I highly recommend it

A little bit pricey but tasty pizzas. Good size aswell. The pasta portions were smaller then they used to be. No good offers like there used to be which is a shame. I’d like the pizzas to have a bit more cheese and offer thicker bases

Went for a meal with the kids. Was best Pizza Express experience I've ever had. Service was completely smooth & really great with kids. Music was fun & generally really chilled. We actually had a good time, which massively exceeded my expectations.

After we had been to the theatre we went for a meal at Pizza Express in Sheffield. It was busy with a nice ambience. Food and service was excellent. A very nice occasion.

Not the best pizza express - find another one if you can. It is very cramped inside, and you always feel like you're in the way. Food is good as always, though.

We went as part of a large group to celebrate a birthday, the food was, as usual, delicious and the service friendly, however the best aspect of the meal was the willingness to accommodate the additional needs of one of the children at the meal. On informing our server that one of the group was autistic she immediately offered to reduce the volume of the music playing and was attentive to her needs. Getting additional plates of food when required in order to offset some anxiety and be flexible in ordering and helping. It may not be a big deal, but a little understanding and help made a big difference and allowed us to have a lovely meal. Great food, but 10/10 for attentive help!

Definitely could have been a better experience this time. The manager mentioned when I went to pay that there was a robbery during our visit which is why there was poor service so assuming that is true I will not be too harsh. So after I had finished my starter and main (which I ordered, arrived and finished in about half an hour) I was waiting for someone to come over with the dessert menu. After about 40 minutes, I decided to go up and grab my own dessert menu and then waited another 20 minutes before going up to the waiter to ask if I could order dessert. They said yes I'll come over in a minute in which I then had to wait another 15 minutes for them to come over where they then took the order of the table next to me first and then proceeded to tell me that they only had two desserts for me to choose from, so there was no point for me waiting so long in the first place if they had mentioned that from the beginning and I could have left earlier. They explained that they were on their own (while the manager was sorting the robbery in the back) but surely even on your own I shouldn't have to wait an hour for a waiter to be able to get around to me. It's not like the restaurant was packed either. They just seemed to be prioritising the other half of the restaurant. 21/11/22 - Update: I went again today, after a graduation ceremony. I had a table booked for 4 at 12:30pm but got there a bit early at 12:10pm. Got seated very quickly though as they had only opened 40 minutes ago and there was one other table maybe two already in there. Food was great but it took so long to get everything. Ordered some Dough Balls Al Forno, Regular Dough Balls, Garlic Prawn Pizza and Tiramisu. All with a drink. Left the restaurant at about 2pm, and that was with prompts for the bill and where our food was etc. The people that served us were lovely, I'm not faulting their attitude at all but when it comes to serving us quickly it just wasn't good at all.

Fantastic! Was able to book a table for 9 with 3 hours notice (due to being let down elsewhere), a tall order on a Saturday night but was told over the phone "we will squeeze you in". Meal was great, wide choice and very clear labelling of allergens on menu which was brilliant as we had a Gluten free meal needed in our party. The Service was excellent - the brunette woman who served us was friendly, knowledgeable and highly efficient. I was very impressed!

Been here before and in my honest opinion, it's just ok. The pizzas look good but they could do with having deep pan pizzas because I was stillhubgry after I ate all of mine, and finished my friends garlic bread. It did take 15+ minutes before we had to usher someone so that we could take our order, but they were very accomodating. The price is ok pretty standard. They don't offer normal chips which is very weird and unfair on vegans because their version of chips all contain cheese. I don't think it's a restaurant I'll personally choose but not worth getting rid of entirely

We were a group of 12 and they were so nice an accommodating at a time when they were close to closing and short-staffed. The food came out in a timely manner and tasted delicious!

Came in last night for food (02.06.22) and it was amazing. The place was really busy but the team seemed organised and knew what they were doing. Our server was brilliant and spoke to the manager at the end I think his name is corey, he was so funny! Best PizzaExpress in Sheffield. Thank you for making our night and being attentive especially when it was busy :)

Great place for a pre-cinema meal with friends

Amazing had my sons birthday there 20+ guests everyone was happy and the service & staff were outstanding! Food was lovely and served so quickly could not have been any more perfect would highly recommended for large bookings especially, super child friendly too.
