We were brilliantly looked after by Shabba and had a great meal, dough balls, Buddha bowls, pizzas, tiramisu, and all the drinks. Thank you.

Wow! We visited here for my nephew’s 10th birthday and what a friendly place, nothing was too much trouble. My pizza came out slightly burnt on the edge and when he realised he offered to replace. I said no as it was only a tiny bit on the edge and the pizza was delicious. I wanted to try the biscoff sundae but didn’t want a whole one and he offered to make me a mini kids one which was scrumptious. Brilliant place!!

Great service, great food! We turned up early on a Friday evening with our toddler and were fine getting a table, though it got busier later on. Our waiter (Shabba) could not have been more helpful - gave us a choice of where to sit, helped us get the high chair in place and arrange the table, and then came back to help again when we decided we needed to do musical chairs. He was really pleasant and engaging with our little boy (and us!) and sorted anything we asked with a smile. Overall a lovely evening out.

Utility DREADFUL! Restaurant had half a dozen tables so therefore where we were seated was a disgrace. My birthday with family and friends. Pre booked , table for 7 Sat us on the hideous table next to the bar . Older couple with us , perked on high bar stalls. The mirror at the end of the table ,whilst ‘antique’ ,disgustingly dirty with cloth marks all over it. The wall certainly needs cleaning if not repainting. The service was APPALLING! We waited 1 hr 20 mins for 2 salads and 5 pizzas. We were told ‘ there is no rocket’ and I even said , ‘I’ll go and buy some from Waitrose ( literally across the road) . My Caesar salad was poor as was my husbands Niçoise salad . The girl from the kitchen in her plastic pinny came and rubber gloves! and started clearing plates whilst our friend was still eating .! I had to go and ask the chef who was making dough if we could have a waiter to serve us pudding and coffee. Waited a further 20 mins then we decided the evening was just rubbish . The bill came to £191.00 and I handed over £200 cash and never saw the change and to be honest I should have demanded a deduction of service charge as well as the change.

We were visiting for the first time tonight for a valentines getaway . Shabba was our waiter . What a fantastic, fun-loving lovely guy, he made our visit even more enjoyable. Chatty guy, very relatable . Our food was beautiful, very fresh, hot and enjoyable. We had cocktails, and they were lovely . Shabba went out his way to get us the ingredients for the drinks we wanted. Very happy we chose to go there tonight!

This is the second time Shabba has looked after us. If only everyone in hospitality were like him. He genuinely cares about customer experience, is so helpful and humorous. We regularly come to this pizza express as our daughter loves it and the food is always great and the people who work there are always lovely! What made it extra special today was meeting the amazing Shabba. He was so attentive, friendly and upbeat and really took the time to check in with us all. Penny our 4 year old daughter was desperate to have a look around the restaurant when we finished our meal and Shabba took her on a guided tour! Legend! She felt like a VIP and it made her day, it's stuff like this that makes such a difference and has put such a spring in our step. We visited this restaurant for the first time today - and it certainly won't be the last. Food was delicious and our server- Shabba was just the best. He was so friendly and attentive and nothing was a bother to him. He is definitely an asset to the restaurant.

Christmas Eve jaunt to Pizza Express, Jesmond …a Romana Porchetta Pizza was calling. Dismal affair indeed. Hardly anyone in, the place was cold and had as much swing going on as a Christmas Turkey Slaughter House. Staff were bored, just standing about wishing they were some place else. Starters were overpriced. Dough balls were very uninspiring and covered in half a jar of what could have been Filipino Berilo Classic Pesto, which I guess added a bit of a zing to this very…. been on the menu forever and a day, cardboard starter. Porchetta pizza was a very disappointing affair….hardly any Porchetta on the top. Considering it cost £17.25 it should have been covered in it ….£17.25!!!!!!! For the pleasure of sitting in the cold, unfestive restaurant, eating a pizza with a meagre porchetta topping £74:80…!! For goodness sake…. What a rip. Prices inflated and quality slashed. The end.

Customer service 0 out of 10. Three staff on shift grumpy, didn't respond to complaints, yes they actually did, in a rude manner. Although we came with children we weren't given a kids menus and had to get one ourselves. My grandson asked for a straw with his drink, this was just thrown on the table. Waiting time for starters 30 min. It was Christmas eve lunch, but the restaurant was half empty, five tables occupied. Waiting time for mains after starter 45 min., staff's excuse was because we had starters. Pizzas weren't sliced, overhanging the plates, trying to slice they slipped off the plate and nearly off the table. I mentioned the " service" to the waitress, it was responded with a shoulder shrug. Speaking to the manager, he half-heartedly apologised. Total bill 70 pounds, worst waste of money.

Went for supper earlier this evening and had good food as usual but Shabba made our Pizza Express experience so much more special. He was unbelievably kind and attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy throughout our meal.

Visited on October 11th and was absolutely amazed by Shabba’s service. From the moment we sat down, he approached us, he was exceptionally friendly and helpful. He taught us all about the pizza express app and rewards we could claim. He helped us to sign up on the app and managed to save us so much by taking advantage of it. The kitchen was slower than usual and it took relatively long to receive our food but Shabba was so attentive and was always checking in on us. He even offered us complimentary drinks whilst we had to wait! We had a brilliant conversation with him about all his passions and how much he loved his job - honestly one of the nicest blokes I’ve come across in a long time and I would go as far to say the best service I’ve ever received! He got speaking to us about his passion for baking and even gave us some samples he had brought to work! He is one in a million

A great time was had by all for my birthday lunch with family! The staff couldn't have been more helpful and went above and beyond to make it very special. Service and food were excellent. I visited here yesterday with my daughter after school. The food was amazing as always but what really makes this place is Shaba the waiter!! Honestly he is an asset to the place always smiling and upbeat and can’t do enough for you. Thank you Shaba will hopefully see you again soon . My 6 year old said you’re the best pizza express man 🤣

Booked a pizza making class for a team building event for work and had a such a fun time. From sorting out the booking to being a great host on the night, Kai was exceptional. Everything went like clockwork, from greeting us with Prosecco and nibbles to the pizza making session with certificates awarded for various categories, everyone was buzzing at work the next day talking about such a great night. Couldn't recommend more for an alternative work night out, oh and our pizza's were delicious!

Las tablas eran demasiado pequeñas en comparación con las anteriores. El personal fue muy servicial y amable, pero cuando se trata de postres, ¡solo había 2 opciones! de un total de 10 en el menú. La pizza era muy buena y llegó muy rápido. Cuando llegamos un sábado tarde por la noche, había un grupo ruidoso detrás de nosotros con niños corriendo, trepando y parados en sillas. Eran muy ruidosos, lo que no fue muy agradable para nosotros cuando este Pizza Express en particular no suele ser un lugar donde haya niños corriendo y volviéndose locos.En general, quedé muy satisfecho con la calidad de la comida y el servicio, pero probablemente esta ha sido la peor visita que hemos tenido en las numerosas veces que hemos estado aquí debido al ruido.Nuestra visita fue "normal", pero estaremos dispuestos a intentarlo de nuevo pronto y esperamos tener una mejor experiencia, ya que este era nuestro restaurante favorito de Pizza Express.

Very disappointing visit. Waited 75 minutes for our food. Only 3 meals given although 4 people had ordered! Informed the pizza had been made incorrectly but told this twice!! The 4th meal arrived 30 minutes later! No interaction or apology from the manager! Waitress seemed genuinely embarrassed! Given 20% discount after she told us she had had to argue with the manager for this!! Extremely poor!

Katherine fue amable y atenta en todo momento a pesar de tener medio restaurante para cubrir, y todavía se tomó el tiempo para conversar con nuestro hijo de 3 años cuando él quería ordenar por sí mismo. Trabajo en hostelería y sé lo difícil que es mantener esto cuando estás en la maleza, es un crédito para tu empresa. ¡Espero que Pizza Express recompense las buenas críticas porque merece al menos una pequeña botella de vino! !

Would not go to his place again. Waited over 30 minutes for chicken wings only to be told the kitchen staff had forgotten our order. When it did arrive we got chicken drum sticks not wings. If the staff get things wrong with the order then you tend to be forgotten.

We visited the Jesmond Pizza Express for a light meal on our first night in Newcastle. We ordered a margarita pizza which was quite tasty. The lady who served us was outstanding. She was pleasant and extremely helpful when we asked her for places for tourists like us to see in Newcastle in one day. We really appreciated the extra effort and time that she took to help us with local tips.

He estado yendo a pizza express en gosforth durante años y el personal siempre fue amable y cordial. Recientemente me mudé a Jesmond y he estado frecuentando la pizza express aquí. Es triste decir que hay una gran diferencia aquí. El personal es abrupto y no atento, y parece que no está capacitado. ¡Volveré a Gosforth!

Pretty much your standard PE, good pizza, friendly staff reasonable price but over priced beer. Not the prettiest PE I've been too, functional but but and handy for the Metro.

Thank you for making our mother and daughter pre Christmas girls meal out so lovely. The lady who was our server was very friendly and orders arrived promptly. We enjoyed the Christmas menu.

Visited here with my friend for our monthly catch up, and were nicely surprised. Such a buzzing restaurant in the middle of a trendy area, with great food, a great atmosphere and lovely staff. We were served by Hannah who was friendly, supremely efficient and really knew her stuff- she recommended pollo pesto which really went down a treat. Will definitely be returning to try the Christmas pizzas!

Checked website which said close at 11pm. Arrived at 10.40pm and told it closes at 10.30pm (unless you are already eating). Kids as staff = no respect! Usually love pizza express

We've visited Pizza Express Jesmond a few times now, mainly because it's not too bad to park in this part of Jesmond and the food is pretty good too. It's usually quiet during the day so service is attentive. Food is the usual Pizza Express standard so no complaints here.

We have eaten here on several occasions and are not usually disappointed. We hit one snag on a very busy weekend for rugby fixtures when the whole of one team and their supporters all turned up together. Apart from that - we really like it here.

An early evening quick bite to eat took much longer than expected and the extra piece of cellophane in the salad (presumably from the dressing sachet) was a trifle disturbing.

Went to this restaurant because we had a deal for 30% off! Ordered a garlic bread with mozzarella for starter and it was so delicious we ordered another one with the main! We got got pasta dishes and tried each other's food, both dishes were fantastic! Couldn't fault the food and was a bonus with the discount. Will be returning again.

I have been for dinner for the last 2 nights as I am in Newcastle for work, and both visits have been excellent. The pizza was delicious and didn't have to wait long despite the restaurant being busy. The staff were really friendly and attentive, especially Danica who was my waitress both times.

Was a bit worried to go here after the last reviews but it was a stone's throw from our hotel so we went for it. Had a lovely meal with fabulous service. Have no complaints (thus 5☆s) but we did have a voucher to make it better value for money. Nonetheless, enjoyed our meal!Would recommend to others.

Unfortunately our usual experience of Pizza Express is in London where they are geared up to excellent service. Jesmond Pizza Express just does not match this - it took 40 minutes for dough balls to arrive, and instead of the 'Doppio' version we had ordered (with the trio of sauces), it was just two of the standard version ! It then took another 40 minutes for our salad and pizzas to arrive ! Such a shame as we really like the food - our memory is of the awful service, and it wasn't even busy !

Another local restaurant had unfortunately made an error with our booking, so we decided to try here as it was in walking distance - huge mistake!!The bruschetta was the biggest joke of them all - a piece of stale bread (you struggled to cut it with a sharp knife) and a couple of watery tomatoes on top - I would have been embarrassed to serve it.The pizzas had barely any topping on and were very greasy and stodgy. We all ordered something different and when they arrived we could not tell any of them apart - even the waiter wasn't really sure and just took a bit of a guess!! The service wasn't great and we didn't feel particularly welcome. A couple of soft drinks that were ordered never arrived and also one starter didn't arrive. It wasn't particularly busy so I couldn't see what the issue was. The wine was lukewarm and very expensive for what it was.Would not return - very disappointing visit.

Firstly this is 100% genuine and only my opinion on the day.I have recently had a meal here being a calazone pizza costing 12.95......A small orange juice costing £2.40 ! Also a pot of tea at £1.95.Firstly I found the pizza to be quite poor and not to my liking at all and too spicy and just didnt have the wow factor at all.But it was served on a plate with a bunch of salad! Service was no problem by a lovely waitress and the restaurant is modern and pleasant,in a good position in Jesmond.Sorry if this offends but it is is intended to give help to make your business better.Also I personally dont like having my food served on a piece of slate or other whatever it was and much prefer a normal plate but maybe I am old fashioned.Im afraid I would not rush back or recommend your restaurant at the moment.

On arrival we were quickly served and our food was ordered. The drink options were limited and overpriced, £6 for a bottle of cider is extausion as do is £3 for a small sprite in. Bottle. Out started arrived promptly and was lovely....once we received our mens they quickly became cold and unedible, I prefer my food to be just as warm towards the end of my meal and the end but this was not the case. Once our meal was finished we were left sitting with dirty dishes and after 15 asked for the bill. I would not return and this is overpriced Pizza trying to be posh

Lovely tasty meal, pleasantly surprised never been before. Professional staff too with a smile always makes the difference. We had voucher so got a bargain too.

Food was upto the Pizza Express standard, service was good, quick and friendly. We were just a walk in. Restaurant was busy, but still managed to accommodate us. Would recommend.

The great welcome at the front door was carried through to every point of contact with all the team members, Our request for GF food was met with a great knowledge of all the elements on the extensive menu, the server was very sincere and said that all the pizzas can be modified to GF requirements - just let us know when you are ready to order.Our order was delivered in quick time and the taste and presentation was superb, I am not a pizza fan but will definitely try this brand again. We are happy to recommend this chain.

We went here about a month ago and were very disappointed. We decided to go at a busy time but were still given a table. However, after 15 minutes without a drink we were told that there would be an hour wait for food and we had the option to leave then. Although, there was clearly some sort of kitchen crisis going on, we weren't really in a position to go elsewhere due to how late it was and the bad weather. The food eventually arrived one meal at a time and we weren't given anything complimentary and the bill took a long time to arrive too. This was coupled with the fact that the food was pretty average tasting as well. So all in all, a very disappointing and unprofessional meal and I urge people to go elsewhere.

Everyone knows what they're going to get from the Pizza Express experience and when my friends suggested it as our Christmas outing destination I was compliant rather than excited. The restaurant was busy but our table felt cosy not cramped. Despite the number of customers our waitress made us feel very welcome and looked after us brilliantly, even when one pizza was sent back because of a missing topping. The problem was sorted out with minimal fuss and we had a very nice evening. No surprises, but reliable with great service.

OK for a simple pizza, bit like a cafeteria, very simple and functional. Was hoping for a few decent pasta dishes, found just a couple. The meal filled a simple gap: we were hungry. Certainly not a "destination" restaurant.

Had lunch here, the pizzas were very good, I had a superb salad with chicken and pine kernels and mozzarella. The manageress who served us was very friendly and accommadating, service was very prompt without being rushed. all 3 dishes that we ordered met our expectations.

I visited with my daughter early one Saturday evening, we had a lovely night out, I chose the mushroom risotto which I thoroughly enjoyed, not a huge sized serving but ample for me, my daughter had her favorite pizza. Lovely warm atmosphere and friendly serving staff. Will definitely go again next time I visit Jesmond.

Family meal here and the staff were outstanding. Food well prepared as usual and my niece had some offer that meant very good value. When one of our group had to pop out to collect his daughter they offered to recook him a new pizza as his was cold...that is beyond the call of duty, he's used to cold pizza anyway! Thank you

We had booked elsewhere but we were delayed by traffic on the A1 (always a problem!) and this restaurant closes down at 10.00PM. So we went to Pizza Express, which was open till later. Good comforting fare with friendly service.

I do not like to put a place down but I was terribly disappointed in my first pizza express experience. To give credit, I must say the staff were excellent and attentive however the food was awful. I got the carbonara pizza and my girlfriend got the spicy chicken and the pizza was terribly heavy and just didn't taste right. I'll be avoiding pizza express in the future. My girlfriend also found hair in her pizza, not pleasant at all.

The restaurant was busy but i was seated and served very quickly by friendly and helpful staff - kitchen is on full view and staff were pretty busy but my pizza arrived without too much of a wait - time enough to enjoy the olives and a glass of wine. I was staying in the area for two nights and although there is plenty of choice of restaurants I decided to go back a second time and again was not disappointed. A well run outlet that serves great pizzas.

Visited with a family of four, service was prompt and polite and food was tasty. Not everything was available on the menu at the time of ordering but a discount was offered for inconvenience, restaurant was very busy when we visited but there is a lower floor if you prefer it quiet. Use the pizza express website for discounts and you will get a good value meal, would visit again.

I been twice this weekend once on Saturday late lunch about 2pm was only people in there so sat in window what help get more people in. We had garlic bread with mozzarella on it what was small but nice then he pizza wit pepper on it and I had chicken caesar salad and asked for more carsar dressing and we had chips and asked for some more honey must sauce and he had to coke and I had bottle of wine then we had hot chocolate and balieys coffee the bill came to 64 but cuz I got taste card it was £54 what think it bad price for all that. Was the last nite on first date he jus had some pizza what didn't have much cheese on it and I had the chicken caresar salad wit extra caresar dressing and honey mustard to dip the dough sticks in and a bottle of cider and he had Fanta and it was 29 and cuz of my taste card it was 19 what cheap meal out

Pizza Express is never going to be the Savoy, but we love it because you always know you'll get good food and, if you're savvy, you can find discounts online. The revised menu this year is great and the Peroni is always nice and cold. Service with a smile and food always freshly prepared. For a quick pre-cinema pizze or pre-pub stomach liner you can't really ask for more.

Didn't have so much of an appetite so went for the giant Caesar Salad with chicken and anchovies. The anchovies were incredibly salty (I know they can be like that but these seemed more than usual). The big gripe though was the dressing. It tasted a lot like Heinz salad cream. A lot. My son had a classic pizza and was really pleased with it.The star are friendly and polite and really do give the place a lift but the food lets it down a little I feel.

Persuaded by friends who wanted to go for a quick pizza. The staff are really friendly but it was very busy and very noisy. My wife's pizza had some very large deposits of chutney on it which she found unpleasant, my nicoise pizza was Ok but quite salty. The bill came to nearly £80 for four pizza's a bottle of wine 2 coffees and a small dessert. Even with a voucher it still came to £60 which I thought was expensive. There are better pizza places in Jesmond like Francesca's or Bistro Neri's in South Gosforth.

This was my third visit to this pizza express and was very disappointing. The staff were very slow, we was sat down 10 minutes before someone took our drinks order and then another 10 before food was ordered. Whilst the food itself was very good, the service was very poor. Some of the staff members seemed to be more engaged in conversation between themselves.

always super food although the mixed olives are not as nice as they used to be, other than that it is great. Kids love the pizzas, apparently the best in the world! Food is often a little slow to arrive so I would advise if you know what you want then order food soon as you arrive. The staff are very pleasant.

Has another excellent meal here last week. We have lost count of the number of visits but Pizza Express always excels. Three courses freshly cooked, really tasty and something for everyone. A special mention to the great staff here who are very friendly and go out of their way to please. Will be back asap.

We stayed at the Cairn Hotel, over Easter weekend, and decided to eat out at Pizza Express on the Friday night. The restaurant was lovely and big, also very clean and welcoming. The service we received was fantastic - the food arrived very promptly and was piping hot. Everything was fresh and just as we had asked for. We would definitely go back again.

With the NUS 40% off on Monday and Tuesday I find myself often in this branch of pizza express. It is by far superior to the gosforth branch with the staff in jesmond actually being friendly. Decent food but at a relatively high price if you are not a member of the Union of Students.

Popped in for lunch.Had wine and pizza to share. Not much to say as all was good. Even the macchiato was good which in Newcastle is a struggle

Two pizzas, a tiramisu and a bottle of red came to £45 - that's expensive in my book. That said, service was quick and polite, and the surroundings were better than your average chain. For a Tuesday night the place was packed too. Gave it an enjoyable buzz. We weren't hurried out either - we were the last ones in the place by quarter past nine.

Food was good, everything to be expected from a Pizza Express, but the restaurant itself was well above average.Location, atmosphere, staff and service were all excellent and I'm glad I chose this over other places to eat in the area.

Had early evening meal here on a Friday. Excellent value. Particularly like the light pizzas with salad in the middle. Service was very quick.

Good - except they supposedly ran out of pasta!! Also forgot to ask for discount and weren't asked to provide a student card.

Lovely staff, decent atmosphere and great location on Osbourne Road next to all the bars & hotels. However the food was average and significantly over priced. 2 pizzas and 2 beers came to £36.

Great service, asked if we could move table as was seated next to draughty window, this was no problem, ordered our food and it was delicious! Friendly man at the next table game ever us a voucher so ordered pudding, both had cinnamon dough balls and was also delicious. Would definitely return if we were to return to Newcastle.

Completely ruined our family NYE meal out by having barely no deserts. They didn't know that when we ordered, only when they delivered the good up the table, leaving us very disappointed. Won't be returning.
