Pizza Express in Brighton and Hove

We like Pizza Express usually ....especially the one in the Marina in Brighton. Yesterday we tried the Jubilee Street one and it was awful ....my American Hot had hardly any topping but Stephen's so called Leggera Festival Wreath for a total of £ 18.45 (extra pepperoni that wasn't visible) was just disgusting. Who adds boiled pototoes to a pizza? There wasn't hardly any pizza ...the hole in the middle was bigger than we have ever seen it, salad was carelessly thrown on top (without any dressing). It was truly inedible. The men's toilets were out of order, I used the disabled one which wasn't particularly clean. We will not be back.

Went for an early lunch before leaving daughter at University. The service was absolutely excellent. Jenny and Laura where friendly helpful and professional. Made the whole experience lovely. Thank you ladies. We will be back!

Long wait for service. Dirty wine glass sent back. People in next table sent back theirs as well. No bruschetta starter. I mean the bruschetta is the signature pizza express starter. When main meals came no offer of pepper or Parmesan. Waitress removed plates before we had all finished. Really disappointing.

So pleased with our lunch on Monday for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Damian our waiter was great, the food was delicious and they were great with accommodating our double pram and other requirements. Everyone was friendly (especially the chef chatting kindly to my daughter on his break!) and the standard of cleanliness was high. The kid's menu is really well thought out too. Highly recommended for a family outing.

Came in for a meal with my partner and in-laws but was deeply disappointed by a brand I normally enjoy. The staff all seemed like they’d rather be anywhere else (which is understandable) and the service was slow due to what seemed to be the kitchen putting Deliveroo orders before the tables in the restaurant. We waited ages to be served even our drinks and when the food finally arrived it was lovely, just not as warm as I personally would’ve liked. It’s then took us another 15minutes to flag down our waiter to pay our bill. Not sure I will be returning anytime soon.

I still can't get over the rudeness I experienced at this branch of Pizza Express. I arrived without a booking at around 6pm & hovered at the entrance waiting for service. Nobody was the least bit interested in serving me so I asked loudly if a table for 1 was available. The young bespectacled man glared at me & just said No. There was literally a handful of people seated & when I walked past the restaurant again 30 mins later it was still almost empty. I've never been made to feel so unwanted & unwelcome at a restaurant in my life & would score 0 if I could. I am still baffled by it. I then went to Patty & Bun down the street & was seated & served very quickly & with politeness..which should be the norm. Looking at the reviews it seems poor service is common here. Avoid like the plague.

The worst place to eat.afwul expensive displeasant.avoid it.everything us afwul, and the cook deserve to be given too pigs…only if you hate thème.

I have been to a few Pizza Express restaurants over the years and they have been clean and quiet with tasty food - reliable. I have never been to one like this. There was some sort of beat 'music' playing at ear splitting volume and everyone in the restaurant (and it was packed) was shrieking at the top of their voices to be heard over the noise. One of the fridges was broken, so my white wine selection had to be rejected as it was warm. My red wine selection wasn't available. Our server did his best but circumstances were against him and he forgot my second round of drinks. It was sheer mayhem and we fell out the place with our ears ringing and an enormous sense of relief. £50 down the drain.

We visited this restaurant as it was our first night in Brighton and wanted something quick that we both enjoyed. The service was absolutely shocking, it took ages to be served then another 40mins waiting for our pizzas. The waiter even come over after 30mins and delightfully told us that they was now going in the oven. The pizza was nice but not worth the below average service. The side order of chips or whatever they were called are the most disappointing thing I ate in the 5 nights we had in Brighton. After this experience I will never be entering another establishment.

If I have to eat pizza its got be from pizza express BUT, and please take this as constructive feedback , the service at your pizza express jubilee street Brighton its the worse. Staff can't be bother to help , take too long to come and take our orders, we have to get up in order to get eye contact. Really unfriendly and almost give the feeling as they were doing us a favor whilst serving us . I've been there several times and I get the same type of service every time. On the other hand , the food is lovely and your staff at the pizza express in hove are wonderful, always make us feel welcomed. The one star us for the food!

Shocking. We planned our trip to Brighton in February. We arrived at our pre-booked time only to be told that there were no tables available despite my welcoming e mail today. A complete and utter shambles. How can you book a table 3 months ahead only to have it not available. The service was non-existent and pitifully slow. I am done with this brand. It used to be good but now its dreadful and there are better options

A pizza / pasta place that had no mozzarella, no pasta, no prawns, and a whole list of other things. We were two families totalling 7 , loyal customers of pizza express since it’s birth.... this was just not ok. What message does it give to customers. Are you running stocks down to close? The only saving grace was the lovely waitress who had to front this tale of woe. There is a Tesco express across the road, surely that could have solved the pasta problem. You will loose loyal customers if you continue in this way.

We stumbled across this Pizza Express having arrived late on a Friday and we're delighted that they happily accommodated us despite no reservation and looking full. Reassuringly there was plenty of handsanitiser, staff were in facemasks and tables were considerately spread to make us feel comfortable. We were very well looked after by Fabio who gave us great tips on the local area. The fantastic service was matched by the great food which we all enjoyed. Definitely one of the best Pizza Expresses we have been too. Thank you to the team for a great evening!

We had a great meal for my sister's hen party here. There were 16 of us in total and we did not have to pre book even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon. We were allowed to decorate our table. The staff were great and very efficient at taking our order. Thank you so much for helping make the hen do one to remember!

Getting there early for our booking (and making the booking seven times by accident!) was no trouble and food was very good. Special mention to our waitress Aga who was lovely, warm, chatty and friendly (despite being v busy) - in a way that lets you know that she is being genuine and isn’t dishing out platitudes. I hope PE can keep hold of her- she’s going places!

We did like it here. Lovely. Great service and food. Better than the one in the south lanes as it is ar more spacious. Staff were very attentive and food had lovely flavours and was hot an fresh. Lovely italian merlot

My Veneziana pizza was lacking content - I counted eight pine kernels, six raisins, a few onion rings, three capers and hardly any cheese. Why hold back ingredients ? Pity.

We came for dinner after watching a show at the local theater, we weren't the only people you did this, but food and service were good considering the high volume of people would return

Nos instalamos felizmente abajo, cuando justo después de comenzar nuestra comida se juntaron tres mesas adyacentes y un grupo de media docena de mujeres y un número equivalente de niños pequeños / pequeños se sentaron allí. Came in yesterday evening around 7, we were greeted and seated very promptly and cheerfully! Our waitress was so lovely and friendly and helped us decide on what to get from the menu. I had the mushroom starter and the Padana pizza. However a few slices in I started to feel really faint and unwell, which eventually unfortunately ended up with me being sick, I was so embarrassed and this has genuinely never happened to me before. I have no doubt it was nothing that the kitchen had done I think it was just one of those things! I can not express how amazing our waitress was. I ran outside and she came out with a tub, blue roll and a chair and then offered me a sugary drink! She even cleared up after me which I would never have expected her to do. What a woman. She went so above and beyond her job role. I'm so annoyed I didn't get her name but I hope someone sees this that knows what happened and passes this onto her because she deserves a medal and a pay rise! There was also a man who I assume was either a supervisor or manager who was really lovely and helpful when I asked for the allergy specs to take to my doctor incase it was anything like that.So although this whole thing was an embarrassing and horrible experience I am so greatful to the staff (especially to the amazing waitress) for making it that little bit easier to deal with.

We asked if our lunch could be brought speedily, as we had a car park fine to avoid way out of Brighton and needed to leap on a bus within 45 minutes. Our friendly, understanding, cheerful waitress arranged it (wish I'd taken her name. Credit card authorization code F39949, 13:30:05 1/11/19) and we had a delicious salad and margarita pizza in front of us pronto. Much appreciated.

Came here for a friends birthday and had a brilliant evening. Everyone enjoyed their food (and we had several vegans in the group who were very happy with their options). The main comment everyone made towards the end was how great the service had been - Dee looked after our party, always with a smile and a laugh, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the night. Have been here for a few birthdays over the last year and it is always reliably good - great job!

Looked after by Laura and Paddy, who were excellent. Enjoyed the Leggera Padana and the Canneloni, which were needed after lots of walking along the front at Brighton. See you when next in Brighton.

Nos encontramos con el restaurante por la mañana en nuestro camino para nadar en el príncipe regente de la piscina situado justo detrás y como estábamos de vacaciones decidimos volver a cenar allí. Nuestro camarero era agradable y trajo bebidas bastante rápido seguido de entrantes en un tiempo razonable disfrutamos de langostinos y picaduras de halomi allí estaban deliciosos. Luego esperamos bastante tiempo para los platos principales, pero definitivamente valió la pena la espera. Tuve una pizza leggera con cebolla y queso de cabra caromilizados y mi amigo tenía una pizza grande con verduras mediterráneas asadas. Estaban muy sabrosos. Estábamos llenos de pudín pero la factura llegó rápidamente y volvería a pizza express. Aunque un poco caro, teníamos un cupón de 30% de descuento que ayudó

Overcooked burnt and undercooked that's what was presented. Complaining to head office they could not be bothered so my regular business that they have enjoyed over many years will now go to a competitor.

No one came to take an order so I had to call them over. Food was really late. After I was complaining, no apology only say will ask manager for discount. Very disappointed never go back again. Ps.it wasn't busy in restaurants at all. If you want a bad service you can try this one

Came with my daughters for diner, the caprese salad had mozzarella that was hard like a rock and the taste was off, the pizza was average, dough not crusty as usual at Pizza Express.

Prompt arrival of server at my table. Server was polite and efficient and helped with my questions about the menu. Food was served in good time and was very tasty.

Terrible terrible. Had lunch with my children who ordered pasta for lunch, I ordered a salad. The gluten free pasta (which we ordered) arrived and was covered in cheese, not listed on the menu, my daughter is dairy free so had to ask for it to be changed. My sons pasta arrived and was undercooked, it was still crunchy, so sent back. I ask for salad dressing, as my pasta was delivered without any dressing at all, the dressing arrived after another 15 minuets along with my children’s second pasta, sadly and again both pastas were still under cooked but were burnt on the top. When I asked the waitress she said that’s how it comes as it’s been in the oven. Since when is pasta oven cooked? This would explain the eldante pasta! When I complained to the manager she removed the pastas off the bill, they weren’t even eaten.

Mother and daughter lunch on Saturday. We shared delicious dough balls as a starter, daughter had a caesar salad I had a pizza. Both were delicious. We had wine and the lunch stretched to well over two hours as we chatted.

The Pizza Express branch on Jubilee Street between the library and swimming pool in Brighton is a disappointment. It is grand building in keeping with the glass frontage of the library and really looks the part. Unfortunately not much else works well.

Nos preguntaron si nos gustaría llevar con nosotros cualquier comida que haya quedado en casa. Para el postre rápido, salió a tiempo. Ella sabía cómo hacer su trabajo como si hubiera estudiado una guía sobre un buen servicio. Bien hecho Pizza Express, has encontrado el banger absoluto de un servidor.

The restaurant is bright and modern and we were given a warm welcome and very friendly, efficient service. Our pizzas were wonderful. Would definitely visit again.

We were eight people waited at the door to be seated and waiters came inn and said sorry no room despite empty tables here and there for more than eight and asked us to turn back after thirty minutes so we asked to speak to the manger she was lady arranged us to be seated we really felt uncomfortable this the photos of the man who turned us away

Been here a couple of times now and have never been disappointed. Staff always friendly and efficient and the food is very good. Not just here but my Pizza was nearly £15! A lot of money, but it was incredible! Not a cheap meal out anymore I suppose. That said, we’ll be going back I’m sure!

Utterly disappointed with pizza express. The salad was incredibly small and consisted of half a tomatoe, a couple of slices of cucumber and a pinch of rocket. The gluten free pizza is incredibly small with barely any topping, yet the same price.

We were both very tired, and 4 weeks of solid sunshine had been washed away by endless rain. We needed a salad-based meal. Pizza Express provided exactly what we were looking for. No starter, a pizza each and a side salad - washed down with sparkling water - perfect! Worth getting wet for.

Absolutely loved it, i organised my friends hen do for 27 and was worried this would be too many. From the organising the staff get back to you within hours which made it super easy. We had the 3 course set menu with 2 drinks included. From the moment we walked in we were seated upstairs which was our own area, loved it! The waiter and waitress were lovely and told me to sit down and enjoy myself as they understood i'd be organising the hen do all day. I'd provided a list of the hen names along with each food and drink order, each ticket in the kitchen had each persons name on it, main it super easy to organise. the organisation was superb. loved it.

Great food good service can recommend. Short walk from the beach, situated a couple hundred yards up behind the Ship Hotel.

We were in Brighton on a very busy marathon weekend and were initially told there was about an hours wait. We decided to see if there was anywhere else but having walked the length of Brighton with every restaurant full decided that a takeaway from Pizza Express next to our hotel would have to suffice.

Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The food was the usual tasty standard. We had a nice sunny spot sitting in the window. What’s not to like for a lunch out and a break from the fish & chips when staying in Brighton?

Lovely food and very helpful staff. Just a bit noisy for my liking, but it is Brighton!! Loads of seating but still gets very busy, but it was a Saturday evening.

I've taken my children to two different kids parties here recently, and both have been fantastic. Very friendly, enthusiastic staff and I left with very happy children. A big thumbs up!

Have been here a few times now and it’s one of the best in the chain. Child friendly, the restaurant has lots of space around tables for children and the staff are very welcoming and attentive. Food is superb and there is a great atmosphere here. Will be back soon!

Just had a lovely meal at pizza express jubilee street. The food was great and nice wine and I used one of your great value coupons. The service was good so we were going to leave a generous tip but our change arrived back at our table including an old 1 pound coin. Because of this we did not leave as big a tip as we thought it dishonest. In hindsight I should have spoken to the manager but I was tired so just left.

Francamente, mi esposa y yo tuvimos unos expectativas de Pizza Express pero estuvimos sorprendidos. La pizza era vegetariano que compartimos pero muy sabroso y muy lejos de caro. Encantados de recomendar y revivirá. Por cierto las patatas fritas eran buen vino y no demasiado caro.

tried to get a table yesterday for 2 person, didnt want to sit in the middle of the restaurant asked to sit other places but couldnt.

I have been to pizza express a few times and enjoyed the food however I recently got a takeaway and was appalled by what arrived. The two pizzas were cold, burnt and were messed up on route. I paid £27 for both pizzas and expected better services . I will not be using them in the future as I have experienced this problem before but decided to give them another chance as I love the vegan pizza. However it is just not worth £27 for what you receive.

It's a smart place in a nice square, but I didn't find my dish of pasta very appealing. I ordered cannelloni, which is more difficult to prepare at home, but they didn't have any. So I chose rigatoni, which I can do better at home. It was a meagre dish, not at all exciting. At £11.50 or so I didn't find it good value. If you have the starter, sweet and drinks, you end up paying a lot for not much of a meal. It's probably better to stick to the pizza for a quick meal when in a hurry. The staff were pleasant.

Wir hatten jedes Mal die Romana Pizzen, die besonders groß und vom Teig her etwas flacher sind.Von der Karte her gibt es ungefähr 15 verschiedene Pizzen und verschiedene Starter. Das Personal ist super freundlich und auch schnell. Die Pizzen kommen auch innerhalb von maximal 20 Minuten.im Sommer kann man draußen sitzen, was bei dem belebten Platz echt ganz schön ist. Im Restaurant selbst zweckmäßige Ausstattung und zweckmäßiges dir sein, nicht sonderlich einladend aber wirklich o. k.alles in allem gutes Essen zu normalen Preisen in einer ganz guten Atmosphäre. Wir waren wie gesagt zweimal da, weil es uns gefallen hat. Für besondere Anlässe würden wir aber etwas anderes auswählen.

In Brighton for the day and found this branch for the first time. No salted caramel profiteroles for the second time in a row to different branches. What is going on? They're lovely. However, this did not detract from great food and excellent service.

Came here with my husband and two children for a family dinner. Booked a table and arrived early waitress was lovely and friendly. Ordered our food with no problem we didn't order starters but the kid's had the children menu and had starters which arrived lovely and quick and fresh. Few minutes after they finished next course came. Me and hubby ordered the same thing but both came different. We had the fish riganti pasta. Hubby only had three pieces of fish mine had more. And portion size for the money wasn't worth it 12.00 for a child's portion of pasta. It was delicious tho freshly cooked. All in all I felt rushed by the waitress. She asked what kid's wanted for pudding and not us. We had to ask for menu. But overall with having kid's and it feeling rushed we were gratefull for speed and if pasta portion was bigger would of given it 5*

We went for a light lunch. The restaurant is large and light and airy. The waiter found us a table for two tucked away in a quiet corner and in the sun - exactly what we wanted. We had dough balls, crispy squid, olives, (the best) a side salad and a couple of glasses of wine. It was all delicious, and it was all served impeccably. You could not have asked for better service in a five star restaurant. If you're in Brighton and want a light lunch, or if you're with kids (we've been here several times with the grandchildren and always well looked after), I would go here and not waste time looking around.

This Pizza Express is one of the more spacious restaurants in town, centrally located and overlooking a nice new public square, which is a treat to relax in when sunny.The food is up to brand standards and I particularly enjoy their new Romana (very thin crust) pizza base offerings.Service and cleanliness in this restaurant have always been very good indeed when I have attended. A reliable lunchtime venue and family friendly, without being too noisy, if you are dining with adults.

We went to Pizza Express in the 2017 summer holidays I had a bruschetta for a starter and I enjoyed it so much! I had a amazing American hot pizza and it was delicious! Such an amazing restaurant

Had a lovely lunch with my children, staff were welcomeing and friendly. Children always love coming to pizza express and this one did not disappoint!

A really great restaurant that has the added bonus of a big square of astroturf outside the front for the kids to burn of some energy after dinner. The staff we very attentive and helpful and the food was standard great pizza express quality.

I would have rated this good, but Trip Advisor jumps from Average to Very good.Service was attentive and efficient. Starters of doughballs and caprese salad were fine, albeit the caprese was on the stingy side.I have had better examples of the same pizzas from Pizza Express, but overall they were fine.Nice setting, handy for town and the train station.

So when you go to Pizza Express with 5 adults and 7 children it can be a stressful occasion. You place your orders and then nothing happens. The children become somewhat agitated, the adults want something to happen. They do not bring our drinks. They do not bring our food. We ask for the drinks, they bring some of them. They will bring our food shortly - they are running late because they are so busy - the place was almost empty.Eventually we get all our food and drinks and in truth the Pizza's were actually quite good. The place was a little grubby and lacked atmosphere I guess we went there because we thought that the assortment of real pizza places in the area would not cater for a rabble of noisy kids and stressed adults.When it came to the time to pay, I did what I always do and that is count the number of items listed to make sure the bill seemed to reflect what we had. Children screaming and wanted to get out, the count look OK, so we paid. The next day we realised that we were charged for large drinks and not the small ones we ordered and were given. It makes you feel a little cheated, I guess that's life when you do not pay attention.

Amazing super food salad and cod crochettes were wonderful finished with lemon posset will definitely be back very soon

We did go to Pizza Express Hove every Friday but in the last few months we have watched it go downhill and in the last 6 weeks has shut early at 10pm despite advertising open to 11pm !

Have frequented this pizzeria for years and until today staff have bee fantastic and friendly.We sat outside as we had our dog. It was extremely hot and on asking the manager if they had any umbrellas, he rudely replied no without any explanation. We informed him that they had umbrellas last year and that they are highly useful to have. The area in front of this restaurant will not be able to be used if no umbrellas are provided. It may be a health and safety issue. The attitude of the manager was rude and unsympathetic to this matter. We left and enjoyed delicious pizza at polpo.

Fitted our group of 12 in when many others restaurants in Brighton couldn't seat that many and we tried to book these restaurants weeks in advance. Food was as expected, had some excellent red wine and the waiter was extremely good. Surprisingly we would go there again.

Me and my boyfriend went for a dinner. Food is average, starters are absolutely overpriced compare to their quality. Pizza was good, but other italian places in Brighton has much better ones for half of the price. Service ok, a bit slow.

As a family, we have visited Pizza Express regularly over the last 5 years or so. Well after our experience yesterday I think it may be time to find a new family restaurant of choice. Where to start....wrong drinks brought, no tap water brought until third request. My wife's pizza was burnt and had far too much black pepper. My daughter couldn't eat her pizza as it also has far too much pepper on it - we had to ask for new one. Didn't they used to come to your table to offer pepper etc?Final pain was that the bill was completely wrong -none of the "VoucherCodes" had been applied and we were met with a shrug from the waitress when we queried the bill. It was finally amended and reduced by the £20 or so they overcharged us by.And so ended our patronage of this chain of restaurants!

Had a frosty reception from the waiting staff and throughout service it was very difficult to communicate and feel at ease. However the pizza express food never disappoints. Shame the toilets were difficult to access up lots of stairs and across the upper restaurant floor.

We came here for a casual monday night dinner - ordered a starter, mains and desserts. Romana american pizza was delicious! Crispy thin base with beautiful toppings. Don't feel sick after eating and the base is not thick and doughy. The restaurant was not busy. 4-5 tables at 8pm ish and 1 waitress working. Almost impossible to get her attention as she was busy doing other things and our table was right in the corner. We were here for 2 hours and had the starter at the same time as the mains and had to wait a while for the desserts. I think this place is expensive for what you get and it also being a chain restaurant. We had a student card giving us discount which is worth it - but otherwise we wouldn't have gone. Average service but good food.

Perfect spot for lunch. Busy but friendly, reliable service and delicious fresh pizza. Not over expensive. Happy experience all round

We came here before going to see a show at the dome and we got what we expected. After explaining about the show we were served quickly and got out with plenty of time for the show. The food was nice, what we expected really. It was very busy but it seemed there were plenty of staff employed to deal with this which was nice to see. It felt like a well oiled machine!

Pizza Express is over expensive unless you have some of their many offer vouchers. Staff pleasant and this one is central and accessible. But the pasta is not terribly good and the drinks expensive. Coffee not too bad and only great for pizza lovers only.

This particular visit would have caused me to rip PizzaExpress a new one but the manager saved the day - hence the four stars rather than one.The problem was a simple one. There are corners of the restaurant where you are not visible to the waiting staff and we were placed at one of these tables. My tip is DON'T take one of these if offered especially upstairs near the loos. When it gets busy the waiting staff concentrate on those they can see and on this visit I had to get up from the table no less than three times to attract the server's attention. By the time we eventually got to the dessert stage we had been there for an hour and a half and were stressing about getting to the theatre on time for curtain up. My complaint to the waiter was followed up by the manager who apologised profusely and immediately comped the whole dinner. Five stars to her for a great decision. We will return but will choose our table carefully.

Conveniently located in The Laines near the Brighton Dome and Theatre Royal this is a great place for pre-show dinner. We visited on a busy lunchtime and were seated upstairs. The staff were very pleasant but woofully understaffed. Our starters took ages to come but the food was delicious. When I enquired as to how long the kids dessert (£6.95 for 3 courses) would take as we had tickets to the Dome our waitress was great brought them straight away. Only comment would be to include a drink with the kids menu.

We had a reservation for 10 people, but it ended up being 11 and they had no problem accommodating us. We stayed for over 2 hours and the customer service was always excellent. The food was lovely and fresh!
