Pizza Express in Worcester

Ordered takeaway was told to pick it up in 30 mins got there and they hadn’t even put the order through. Staff weren’t attentive and didn’t even get a sorry for the wait. 1 hour later got my pizza

Recently had my first visit to Pizza Express which was quite underwhelming unfortunately. Whilst the food was lovely (especially the dough balls), the visit was let down quite a bit by incredibly slow service and some lack of care. Despite arriving on time for our booking, we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated despite lots of empty tables and plenty of staff. Once we were seated, our drink orders were promptly taken however after asking for a minute to look over the food, we were not approached again for 20 minutes and then our relatively simple orders took half an hour to get to us meaning we had already been there nearly an hour before being served our starters. Unfortunately the speed of receiving our mains wasn't much better and we had nearly approached 2 hours by the time we finished our small mains. We also didn't receive any cutlery initially until we had to chase for them and there was no care to advise us with some suitable cutlery based on our choice of meal. I would've loved to have tried one of the chocolate fudge cakes for dessert but didn't feel like waiting another hour for that privilege too. Whilst the food was lovely and the staff were generally very kind and pleasant, unfortunately Pizza Express will be lower down on my choices of where to eat for the foreseeable future.

Kitchen staff and floor staff didn’t know what planet they were on. Serving wrong tables wrong orders, missing items, out of stock items all the time. Bill messed up. Manager attitude and not willing to refund missing item easily! Won’t be going back any time soon - go to Zizzis or Ask over the road - much easier!!

Why on earth would you stop doing the Calabrese, after having achieved the gold award on the app it feels like a kick in the teeth 😭

We eat here a few times in the year and always just before Christmas. This year the service has been progressivly getting worse but tonight was a new low, it was 4:30 it wasnt busy it wasnt short staffed but thats was their excuse there were 6 tables and 6 members of staff at least. What felt like the general manager greated us with a face like and smacked face and the welcome of a man who just wanted to get of home (guessing he did as we didnt see him again) . We were seated and after waiting 20+ mins before having to getting up to ask what seemed like the team leader if we could place a order. He said he was just on his way great! Then he got distrated by a table being seated as he clearly knew them so after a 5 min chat with them he finally came and took our order. We wanted the chicken calzone without the bechemel but we were informed they couldnt as it would effect the allergen information. (This is a stupid answer. The removal of something would only possibly reduce allergens) to quote Bullet Tooth Tony: You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. we didnt make a fuss just ordered a pizza instead. After another lenghly wait we got our 3 starters and 1 of the sides that was supposed to be with the mains. We then had to wait 25 mins after finishing the starters to be asked if we were finished I'm guessing by the assistant manager. I highlighted we'd waited for the plates to be cleared for 25 mins and could we have the mains asap. He apoligised and said he'd been in the kitchen helping, which to be fair we'd witnessed as we saw him doing pizzas while 2 kitchen staff stood laughing and drinking casually . If hed prehaps managed them instead of doing their job for them he'd probaly of been able to avoid the mess they were in. After another 40min wait, (we're nearly 2 hours in now the kids are bored, starving and they've watched people that have come in after us get fed) we finally get our mains but none of the sides had come out, we told the waitress who then went to go and get them only to then be seen 5 mins later on the otherside of the restaurant. We drew the attention of the waitress and confirmed they'd forgot to cook the so we asked for them to be cancelled and if the kids desserts could be brought over in fear that this would take another 30 mins like it did for the family of table next to us. Sadly the promptist part of the service was the main plates being cleared whilst still chewing the food. We were then asked if any desserts had been ordered (this is the same waitress that 10 mins ago that was asked to put them in a takeaway box) we reiterated that we'd like them to take away and asked for the bill. The bill turned up with the sides on it so this was raised and off the waitress went to talk to the assistant manger but sadly him and the team leader we talking to the table that they knew for 5-10 mins. After nearly 2.5 hrs since walking in we ask to speak to the manager. After another 5 - 10 mins of waiting for them to stop talking with the 1 table they gave a shit about. I approached to speak with them i was asked to wait a minute. The assistant manager came over and explained it had been a bad service, he said he'd given 1 table 100% discount and he had to give half the restaurant discounts due to the shocking service. We were given a discount which was fine as the quality of the food was ok when we had it and some free desserts but it wasn't about the money the damage was done. Our last visit to pizza express ever was finished. Well nearly it took another 10 mins to get the desserts. Good news is there are double the staff members tomorrow if you're going and he said then wont when need them. He doesnt do the rota some other moron must.

Service was so poor it was funny. Waited several minutes to be greeted at the door to be seated despite having more staff than customers. Then waited to have our orders taken, had to ask a chef to get someone as the two male servers were far more interested in two female customers (who were clearly also staff) than serving other tables. Received starters with no cutlery and again had to ask the chef as we were clearly invisible to the waiters. Food was good but I can’t imagine what service you get when they’re actually busy 🫢

A fantastic experience for us at Pizza Express Worcester, last night. Gus, the manager, was very welcoming and accommodating, as were all of the staff in the restaurant. The food and service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed the visit! Great atmosphere too. Thank you.

Visited the Worcester branch of Pizza Express this weekend and we were warmly welcomed and looked after by one of the team, Richard. He was very helpful and attentive, gave great recommendations on the food and even had a good chat about the Coca Cola Oreo flavour as we were a bit dubious at first, but it was actually quite nice. We didn’t want to waste money or the drink, but he was very helpful in helping us to decide. The food was piping hot and delivered quickly. Paying was a breeze as you can do this via the app at your table.

The pizza was overall very good but my friend tried to order some chicken and the manager came over and explained that they can do it but it would be ok then about an hour in we got all if our food ( some drinks were missing) apart from the chicken we then asked about the chicken and they said that they were not sure if it was cooked which did not fill us with confidence so my friend decided to change his food because he did not want salmonella. The staff were not engaged at all they did not get the table water after multiple requests and seemed to be doing nothing. So overall the service was terrible. The pizza is good but i do not recommend the chicken unless you want to get poisoned.

All the food was cold and just about edible

Strange experience for our grandsons birthday. We thought we would have olives and tomatoes while we waited for the mains. Mains arrived in dribs and drabs, and no olives/tomatoes, one pizza was made wrong,taken away and we had finished before it appeared correctly made. The restaurant was cold, we asked for the heating to be turned up, sadly with the door being left open by delivery guys, who appeared to get better attention than us inside, it didn’t improve. Luckily my grandsons only 8 so not really that bothered. For the adults it was best forgotten and next time we will try another restaurant.

A lovely lunch today. A special mention to our server, Ethan, who was extremely knowledgeable about what was gluten free for my husband. He was such a polite, smart young man. Nothing was too much trouble. He kept my husband safe in what he could order, as a diagnosed coeliac and he requires a strict gluten free diet. Ethan made our lunchtime meal experience absolutely hassle free. I really wish we could say this about other eating establishments. So thank you Ethan. We will definitely return here to eat, the next time we visit Worcester.

Service was appalling - 3 tables occupied waited 20 minutes to order and then another 30 minutes to order dessert to then be told items not available. Staff were busy socialising and setting up for the next day. Rude, rude, rude.

It was not very busy and there is no customer service skills, they took about 30 minutes to take our orders and were rude when we asked to be served. Would not recommend this particular restaurant if you want served in a timely manner and with good customer service.

3 hours wait. order was then cancel. I call the restraunt they couldn't and didn't anything. I could only contact just eat by email. So I got no reply what so ever. Terrible

Terrible experience overall. Walked in with my partner and stood there to be seated for at least 15 minutes while every worker walked past us and made direct eye contact, not even acknowledging us. Bear in mind there wasn’t a lot of people and plenty of seats available for us to sit at. Gave it a couple more minutes because we really wanted to eat there, however with no luck obviously. The embarrassment and shame we felt was unbelievable, even a delivery driver decided to leave because he couldn’t stand waiting there while every worker was chatting amongst each other and didn’t want to seat people that were waiting. Never again and most definitely DONT recommend, unless you want to be treated like you’re invisible.

Food took nearly double the predicted time and kept getting later. This caused the food to arrive cold and have items missing.

Gus served my table and when I tell you the quality and service of my food was amazing it genuinely was! Food was outstanding, the new mushroom truffle pizza was honestly the best pizza I have ever had. Would definitely be coming back!!

Pizza was good, but i ordered 2 garlic butters to go with the dough balls and got 1 garlic and herb dip instead. Not the same!

Don't go on a Sunday unless your pre-booked. Waiter said he was only guy serving and couldn't manage three pizzas 🤣 go to Zizzi across the street no probs in there 🍕

Lovely place, came in for an impromptu bite to eat. Very warm welcome from manager Gus on entry and seated near the window by a heater.

Visited on Saturday evening. Lovely Christmas atmoshere with great new seasonal menu. Great menu for kids - good options, sensible portion sizes and good value. Excellent service from Joseph - very friendly, great with the kids and very knowledgeable about the menu. 5 star!

My food arrived over an hour late. No attempts had been made to contact me at all yet the driver could not find my address. By the time my food did eventually arrive it was stone cold. Sort it out just eat and issue me my refund for stone cold food

I visited pizza express on Friday evening and left without eating. Upon arrival multiple staff members looked over at us waiting to be seated, yet no one came over. We even had one worker tell us she would be over in a minute and then never came back over. This should have been a clue to what was about to come. Once seated we were told about the perks of downloading the app and that this evening we could get free dough balls and 50% off pizza. Whilst trying to download the app a server came over 3 times to ask what we wanted to eat. As these were so frequent, I hadn’t yet decided. When we had finally decided it took multiple attempts to call over a worker as it seemed to be the same one waiter working the whole restaurant. We finally ordered our pizza and free dough balls at about 17:50. We got our dough balls shortly after and then sat waiting for our pizza. By 18:30 we were getting concerned that tables who were already sat down when we arrived were just getting their food. We spoke to the waiter who told us he would check where our meals were. He never came back to tell us the outcome so we had to speak to him again at about 18:40 where he told us it would be ASAP. As we were due to leave for the theatre at 19:00 we knew even if our meals had come we wouldn’t have had enough time to eat them. This seemed like a general problem as the table next to us also spoke about the wait and were offered their food in take away boxes. We weren’t as lucky and were told at about 18:45 that it would be advisable to cancel our order. The restaurant did offer us our 2 diet cokes and our free dough balls for no cost- which was generous. But ultimately left with no food after waiting approximately 50 minutes. If you want a meal in reasonable time then I suggest you DO NOT go to pizza express !

Upon entering the restaurant it took about 5 minutes for someone to even come over to seat us despite multiple staff walking around doing nothing including the manager who made eye contact multiple times but then just walked away. The restaurant was also filthy and most of the tables had dirty plates and glasses on with scrunched up napkins everywhere. Finally once acknowledged the server then complained about the restaurant they were currently employed at not giving us any confidence in the restaurant. We were then seated, and our drinks were served the waiter stated that there is usually festive extra and fruit garnish in our drinks but stated they didn't have any. So paid full price for incomplete drinks and was also served in the wrong glass types for the style of cocktail. Our food order was then taken. Starters were poor, Garlic bread tasted of no garlic at all and instead was just a large dump of Cheesy bread. Our mains then arrived in which the pizza was cold barely touching on luke warm, with the actual plate hotter than the food. After few bites we had to send back for a fresh main, which when arrived for a second time the pizza base was soggy and barely cooked. After a few slices we ended up leaving the pizza as it was just bland and the garlic sauce we paid extra for was ice cold and rock hard. Once getting the bill the server asked if we enjoyed our experience and we told him we had not, he seemed to blame other customers and a larger group of customers that came in earlier in the night. Stating he had to wait on 7 table instead of 4. We paid and left and will never be returning to the restaurant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone

Visited wife grandchildren had a really good experience. Although shorts staffed the manager had his team working well 10 / 10 to Gus for his service Food was cooked perfectly and very tasty

Very quick service. The food was brilliant.

One Pizza was fine and the dough balls were delicious. The other pizza, however, was a mess. It was like a floppy, flat pancake. It didn't even have a crust. The toppings were even worse. Ridiculous amount of sauce with a tiny blob of cheese right in the middle. It was inedible. I got a refund but I wouldn't order there again.

AS USUAL, RICHARD WAS EXCELLENT, A SWIRLING DERVISH AS HE WENT FROM TABLE TO TABLE. OUR GRANDAUGHTER ENJOYED HER PIZZA, A 17TH BIRTHDAY TO REMEMBER. THANKYOU VAL & TRACE.

Pizza was cold, not cut properly so hard to pick a slice. Mac and cheese was very good and chicken wings were perfect.

Went for an early evening catch up with a friend. Service, by Richard was excellent. He was friendly and attentive without being intrusive and took time to explain menu options. Food was hot and freshly made. Also speedily delivered. We had dough balls and halloumi bites as shared starter and lasagne and burnt ends pizza as mains. We were left t enjoy our meal, didn't feel hurried but neither did we have to wait for our next course. Would definitely recommend.

We love this chain. Always consistent and great. Best thin crust pizzas and cute little puddings to choose from if you feel too stuffed;). The staff is always brilliant but a big shout out to Ethan for his big smile and professional manner. We will always return. Well done pizza express Worcester !

Great service, perfect place to go for quick service and lovely food

We just wanted a casual meal so decided on Pizza Express. This is a chain and has to be judged in that light. The ambiance is OKish - certainly not intimate. Staff were pleasant. The food produced was surprisingly good. Both my Penne Pasta and my partner's Canelloni were really tasty and good portions though mine could have been hotter.

Absolutely waste my time and money!! Waiting ages for my food and when it’s arrived was in horrible state, burned and dry and cold! Peps STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE as far as possible!

Me and my boyfriend came here on a date, we waited to be seated in the line for about ten minutes. We were pleased to see that though it was Saturday night it wasn’t too busy. Once seated the waiter gave us some time before asking us for our drinks. He also gave us extra time as I wasn’t ready to order my food quite yet. We waited about 30 minutes for our starters which minus the waiting were lovely. I had express dough balls which are always amazing. My boyfriend had mozzarella sticks, which the restaurant covered with a sweet sauce. He wasn’t sure if he liked the sauce or not but I enjoyed it. His also came with a tomato sauce which he liked more. We then waited an hour for our mains. Which again other than the wait we couldn’t complain about. I had an American pizza which is pretty much a pepperoni and my boyfriend had a double American. His pizza was so big it was hanging off the plate. We really enjoyed our food and were really full afterwards. We did have a lady who was cleaning the tables ask us if we were still waiting for our food and once we said yes she told us she would check on them for us. This was really appreciated even though our food came soon after. Like this lady, all the staff were very friendly and polite. Though we did have to wait a while for food the company was 10/10 so It wasn’t too bad. Would 100% recommend for those that don’t mind waiting a little longer.

If you want a pizza from Pizza Express in Worcester delivered within the original estimated delivery time and for the food to be hot, then avoid ordering. It's not the first time I've ordered food from Pizza Express which has been just warm and arrived far later than the original ETA via Just Eat. Delivery times keep slipping back.

I have been going to pizza express for many years , as far back as I can remember . Unfortunately it now seems to have turned into a generic brand and has lost the individuality that it used to have . The pizza was good but the price you pay for a coke and a lime & soda is ridiculous ! the staff were great though and made us feel very welcome . I remember the days when pizza express used to be rammed , so to see it so quiet and no different to the likes of Pizza Hut is very sad

We went to eat at the last minute because there was an £1 pizza offer. Ethan greeted us & showed us straight to our table & then explained the offer & how to get the app etc so that we could redeem it. Nothing was too much trouble & always welcome good service. So thank you Ethan

the food has just arrived and it's stone cold. mac and cheese and doughballs have gone in the oven. I don't want to have to reheat it, it negates the point of having it delivered, but here I am. there are no toppings on the mac and cheese as described on the menu. the pre-dressed salad is soggy. I expect a full refund.

Avoid and go somewhere else is the best summary. From the offset there was something not quite right, the place is empty there's ½ a dozen staff doing no much, well that's not totally correct two members of staff were having a good flirt in front of all the customers! How very professional. Not! We then waited several mins to get someone's attention, once in we were seated at a table with 3 chairs even though there were four of us in the group. We were given the menus and told someone would be back in 2 mins..... Well it was a long two mins more like 10 mins. But that's ok we're looking in the menu seeing what to chose. We then gave the order as well as the drinks order, the drinks ever arrived so we tried to get the waiters attention but we're blanked. When the starters came out were asked where the drinks were and said they we're been prepared. The service was no better throughout, no checks to see if the food was good. It then took over 70 mins to get the mains, now I don't mind waiting for fresh prepared food anywhere. Good food done well takes time. But the pizzas were at best average, they were nearly cold. But at this point we were fed up of waiting and also hungry. The pasta dish was so hot it was like lava. Clearly the chef/s got all the timings wrong. When finishing the main we then waited over 25 mins for anyone to come and see if we wanted the deserts we had ordered. I had to speak to another member of staff. Who grunted and said they would be sorted. Then then took another 5 mins to someone to come to ask if we wanted the deserts now. I am not local and made a special trip to visit Pizza Express, it wasn't worth it at all. There's loads of much better places around to get pizza and are probably cheaper also. Good Food and Service is everything when eating out. The staff and rude and unprofessional.

We went last night for a meal. Our waiter, Ethan, was great really friendly and great with the kids. The service was slow but there was a large group of students in. The food was great.

Myself and my hubby had a lovely meal in pizza express in cathedral plaza, we had a bit of a strange request for the staff and chef to which they delivered without any hesitation or we can't do that attitude, customer service was fabulous from all staff that had dealings with us and we'll definitely be going back, thankyou for accomodating us.

Great service, food and staff, highly recommend this restaurant, everyone is friendly and the food is great value, always an enjoyable visit each time I go!

Meh. It's a pizza express so you don't expect much but was understaffed and a bit shambolic whilst we were there. Wine is ridiculously expensive for the quality. Pizza was middle of the road but what you pay for

Had incredible service, though I don't know the name of who served us, a man with dark hair who I believe was one of the managers. We were very hungover after a funeral and this man went to great lengths to give us a beautiful lunch. I have eaten here so many times over the last decade however this is how its done.

We booked last minute and were kindly accommodated. Straight to our table and met by Dylan who was our waiter. What a pleasant experience. He explained the menu in detail and we discussed the wines. We chose La Reine pizza with slaw side and American both on Romana base. Both very nice and great value. We shared a bottle of white French wine Picpoul De Pinet which was just right as recommended by Dylan. Highly recommended 👍

I only do salads I don’t eat pitzzers meat or Fryed food just plaine fish and no pudding or starts but my salads there have all ways been to notch I dont take always to the house ethers and takers way places is not my places I would go in to my self macdonales or Burger King. Only if I was desperate and only for soft drinks. I had coupons for Pitzza express

I wish I knew how the food was but the service and atmosphere were horrific. Walked in they sat me and I sat for 20 minutes until nobody ever came by. I tried to wave down a waiter and they were always too busy with the 3 other customers. The food may be great, but you never know.

We often visit Pizza Express when in Worcester and have a good experience. This time wasn't different. The restaurant was beautiful and clean, the food and drinks were great as usual, and the staff was BRILLIANT from start to finish. We took my elderly in-laws to PE for the first time and they loved everything (and said they'll be back). The staff was very caring and patient. I'm sure they'll be well looked after when they go there again by themselves. Thank you :)
