Pizza Express in Dacorum

I went there with my brother this afternoon and it was one of the best experiences I've had. Each staff member went above and beyond. I was trying to use a voucher and it just wouldn't work. Those guys really helped me. The food was excellent too. I can't wait to go back there (if they'll have me🫣🫣) Thank you all

We arrived at 5pm on Sat as a group of 5 - waited 10 mins to get anyone’s attention. Advised that they were fully booked (place looked empty and in London you never have to book to go to PX!) and we had to sit outside We then waited 30+ minutes for anyone to take our order (told by each passing member of staff that they’re coming). When I spoke to the manager (he said he was one of the managers) he said “it’s’ fine and looked away”. 40 mins to wait for pizzas by which time it was freezing outside. Asked if heater could be turned on - “have to ask my manager”. Pizza’s were not a patch on pizza’s at London PX branches. The fudge cake was something out of an instant packet mix My partner left their water bottle at the branch. No answer when you ring the branch and no callback after a week of leaving a voicemail The junior staff were lovely but good quality, service and management needs addressing. Not what you’d expect in Berkhamsted of all places

The initial impression on arrival here was not great - no greeting at the door, several members of staff walked part past without acknowledging me and seemed to prioritise the uber delivery drivers rather than booked customers. Once we sat down and were served however, our waitress was fantastic and looked after us brilliantly. The pizzas were both well cooked and really tasty, I haven't eaten at Pizza Express for a while and really enjoyed my meal.

Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was lovely we had Pizza which was very tasty. The only slight criticism is the drinks are very expensive compared to a lot of Restaurants.

We had a wonderful time here today. Fantastic service from Carlos (apologies if I have spelt incorrectly). He was brilliant with the 4 children in our party, he had us laughing the entire time! an absolute star. Food was with us in good time, and was tasty. Also very reasonably priced. A must for somewhere family friendly and service with a smile. Thank you!

Staff were rude, didn't welcome us at all, had to practically serve ourselves. Really a shame. Food is why we came to this place, other branches always friendly. But berkhamsted let us down. Multiple times after saying hi and trying to order we were completely ignored. Left before ordering as a result

**Review: A Disappointing Experience at Pizza Express Berkhamsted** I recently visited Pizza Express in Berkhamsted, and despite my usual reluctance to write complaints, the experience was so subpar that I felt compelled to share my thoughts. Upon arrival, we were handed menus and told by the manager to "sit anywhere" instead of being directed to a table. While this might seem like a minor inconvenience, it set the tone for the rest of our visit. As we attempted to find a table, we noticed that nearly every empty table was dirty. It was disheartening to see the lack of basic cleanliness in a dining establishment. After finally settling down, we had to ask for our order to be taken. Even then, it took a considerable wait, and someone else had to be told to take our order. To make matters worse, our order was taken after a table of five who arrived after us, displaying sheer laziness from the staff. The service continued to disappoint when our drinks arrived. The server brought them over with the tops of her hands, and unbelievably, she had a beer tucked under her armpit. The lack of professionalism and basic hygiene standards was astounding. Furthermore, none of the staff, except one lady, were wearing proper uniforms, which added to the overall sense of disorganisation. Throughout our meal, not once did anyone ask if our food was okay or if we needed anything else. The only saving grace was the quality of the food, thanks to the chefs. However, the rest of the experience was shambolic. This wasn't merely a case of being understaffed; the staff present weren't even trying to accommodate or provide a basic level of service. Overall, my visit to Pizza Express Berkhamsted was extremely disappointing. The poor service and lack of professionalism overshadowed the quality of the food. I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to ensure a better experience for future customers.

Amazing building, best Pizza Express I've visited...visually. We dined outside, which was lovely. Starter was miniscule and massively overpriced. Pizza was ok, but needed more topping. My wife had a glass of Pims, which was priced @ £10 - crazy! Sadly, I wouldn't visit again because of the poor value for money, but my wife loves the chain, so see you again soon 😂

My son had his birthday party here and I recommend this branch specifically for a kids birthday party. Everything ran smoothly, the staff were friendy and attentive, and was well organised. There was one child that was gluten free and they catered to them without any quarrels. 10/10!

Great Pizza Express . Lots of seating, but it's always best to book. Good friendly service. Some parking out front, which is free after 6 pm. There is a Mark's and Spencer car park around the back. Easy disabled access. They take Blue light card for discounts.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I went in there being told that they were busy and I had to be quick just for my food to take over 2 hours to come. I was with friends and they started by bringing out the wrong food and trying to charge me for it. Then when the mains came out they forgot about one and we had to ask 5 people who worked there that they forgot it before they decided to do something about it, by this time we had all finished our food and where ready to leave as we had to be somewhere, but no her food still hadn’t arrived (bare in mind it was a kids portion and the restaurant was pretty much empty). When the food arrived the pasta wasn’t even cooked and the sauce looked disgusting and effortless. I expected them to not make us pay for the last meal but we obviously had to. There was also a lot of disgusting facial expressions coming from the young workers. I shall not being coming back ever again. Once piece of advice - make some pasta and pizza at home as it’ll be better and worth the money.

It was an excellent meal and Shruti was absolutely phenomenal. I loved how the Wu cared for us all and got a birthday surprise! We absolutely love it here

UTTERLY useless and not fit for purpose Sent us stone cold undercooked food. Tried to call, wouldn't answer 😕 Tried to call regarding a booking would not answer phone system. Tried to call regarding an order wouldn't answer phone system Clearly this place is run by robots or people without the ability to answer a phone.

We have been coming to pizza express for many years Carlos is great but on the last few occasions we have been served by Indian ladies, the experience has not betas good, but tonight went a step too far DEEPA our waitress was appalling 20mins to take a drinks order 20mins after to take a mins order then left us for 30mins after we had finished our mains. She was then annoyed when we did not tip her. This restaurant has gone down hill.

This is an amazing place. The staff are kind and very hardworking, so I appreciate that. Also the food and atmosphere is out of this world. Recommend this for lunch or a late dinner.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHERE YOU PARK, especially when it's busy! Do NOT park in the 'BT' bays behind the restaurant, they're managed by PPS who just love to fine people (even outside of office hours). Collecting my pizza, displayed my blue badge as can't walk far - fined £60

A great night out for a 3 generational family of 8. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, lovely surroundings , food to suit everyone’s needs ( including coeliac) and they made our day by bringing in our birthday cake !

We have dined in this restaurant a few times and have historically ordered takeaways pretty regularly. However on the last few occasions the standard of the takeaway has been very poor and no where near the standard you would receive in the restaurant. Pizza misshapen and smaller than usual and small, overcooked/burnt doughballs. Can only assume they rush or don’t care about takeaway orders. Very disappointing.

We go with our 7 year old daughter and is always great. We had her birthday party here for 12 children and Carlos was amazing as party host, teaching them all to make pizzas. Carlos is always very friendly and welcoming and a real credit to the restaurant

Arrived with my sister, brother in law, mum, dad and nephews for my nephews birthday. We arrived and the server asked whether I wanted the children’s menu (I a 23 year old 5,9 woman) said no thank you obviously awkwardly laughing at the bad joke. He then asked a second time, to which I bluntly said no, I would like an adult menu. When the children then ordered their desserts off of the children’s menu the waiter brought over three lollies, one for ‘all the children’ (meaning me). Quite an uncomfortable experience given I am in fact not, nor do I look like a child. Service was passable for the meal at best, only two water glasses for 7 people etc. Food was average.

Terrible service, rude staff - never ask if everything is ok with the food, not offered any more drinks etc - it wasn't even busy, the staff are just lazy.

Had another nice meal at Pizza Express. The staff were friendly but the service was a bit slow. The downside is how expensive it has got. Without Tesco vouchers I am not sure I would go there.

Awful service last night in Pizza Express. Unattentive serving staff, my husband had to go looking for someone twice during the meal to order more drinks and at the end again, to pay the bill. Every time he found the waitress around the far side of the bar looking at her phone. When it came to actually pay, we didn’t add a tip. Food was “ok” nothing to get excited about and generally felt as though there was no direction in the restaurant last night. Slow service and useless staff who looked bored. Truly dire and it feels like unless Carlo is on duty-you should expect this level. On the plus side, Carlo is the best thing about Pizza Express Berkhamsted. Maybe I should call ahead to see if he is on duty.

Great place to eat and my chicken pasta was lovely,great service with a smily man .starters was lovely just very small for the price you pay .

We've visited a number of Pizza Expresses and this is our favourite - we've been back several times to this one. The food is fairly similar at most Pizza Expresses, but the staff here are particularly helpful, friendly and competent which makes the whole experience that much more pleasant.

We had a lovely evening meal here on the recommendation of someone we met nearby. We were not disappointed, great friendly service, nice food and relaxed atmosphere.

Love pizza express but this is the worst branch I have ever come across. Waitresses were totally clueless, had to ask them 4 times for water for our baby! They had a lot of attitude right from booking to the moment we left. Food was not up to usual standard, Florentine pizza came with a egg that was over cooked and totally solid. Manager was good about replacing it but the replacement was burnt around the edges. Clearly the chef didn’t have confidence cooking this pizza. They also messed up the standard salad which they insist doesn’t come with croutons when it always does.

Disappointing… ordered the Leggara Pizza - now only a 2” round pizza with large middle cut out. Salad disappointing as only spinach and rocket! Definitely not worth £15.95 I will not visit again despite a lovely venue.

Came for a nice meal and food was awful, half our food was burnt, calamari was burnt and some how they managed to burn carbonara. They took it off this bill which was nice but necessary as it was not edible. They also made us wait ages when there was practically no one there and after we ordered, they took 20 minutes to come back and say they didn’t have 2 of the dishes so we had to change. Would not recommend, staff all seem very lost and don’t know what they r doing.

Visited on a Sunday because nowhete else was open. Bad customer service, partially unavailable menu and they for reasons unknown locked the door between outside dining area and restaurant. Weird vibe, felt like work experience kids were running the shop floor.

Lovely light & airy restaurant which is fully accessible with friendly staff & a welcoming family vibe. Everywhere is spotlessly clean & the food is freshly prepared & delicious.

Visited Pizza Express for a second time in Berkhamsted on Saturday for late lunch. For our first visit I had given it 5/5 and it’s 5/5 again for our second visit. Love this restaurant. Nice and big with nice seats both indoors and outdoors. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The manager was very helpful. This time I had the pesto pollo pasta which was excellent with nice salad. My husband had the calzone with salad and dough balls. The kids menu is great. The desserts were excellent. I love the fact they have the option of mini desserts to have with a coffee for 1 price. It was a bit expensive at £97 for 2 adults and 2 kids but still 5/5 stars. Would definitely visit again. Excellent clean toilets. Easy to park in the Berkhamsted carpark at the back.

Food was good, in line with expectation for a chain. Service was slow, we were a large group, but still disappointing. Lively atmosphere on a busy bank holiday weekend.

It was a nice evening but the pizza was over cooked, and tough to eat. Also in all of their restaurants the knives are never sharp enough to cut easily through the pizza.

I came to pizza express about 10 months ago, I have just found how to write a review. I would put 0 stars if I could….this experience has haunted me ever since…. It was the weekend before payday and me and my friend thought will go out for a reasonably priced Pizza Express. The food was pizza express standard and the service is okay. However the experience at the end of the night ruined my whole evening and weekend. The first payment I made by card for dinner, the money left my bank account deducted and the waiter said the payment hadn’t actually work. I was so puzzled as it left my bank and I asked if we could hold off till tomorrow or Monday and then me to pay again if this was true it didn’t, as the money had left my bank…. The manager came over and was so rude and direct and not humble in any way and really made me feel like a piece of dirt on her shoe. I showed her the money had been deducted from my account and I told her if she took the payment again, I would have no money for the weekend. The manager refused to let me and friend leave until I paid for the meal twice. She also threatened to call the police. ( I am a 34 year old, sales professional. Not a kid ) I was shaken up and panicked as I live alone and was left with £10-£12 till pay day on the Monday/Tuesday and she also wouldn’t let me have her phone number or name to call up next week to sort the situation as both transactions actually went through twice. Which was thought was odd, I was taken aback by the whole situation as I’ve never had to pay for anything twice or been spoke toso rudely. Wanting to sit and just stop my hands from shaking. She came over and asked us to leave and I said I will in a minute and she then left and came back over and squirted me with cleaning product spray!!!! Never in my life have I experienced such bad behaviour or been treated so badly and it left me depressed and confused for the rest of the weekend with no money. However, the first payment did come back to me eventually after about 3-4 weeks. But the customer service and experience was terrible and I wouldn’t ever want anyone to go there.

Busy restaurant Crew managed to serve as fast as they can. We enjoyed a good treat at Pizza Express. Felt like the taste not as good as it used to be. May be myself after tasting authentic pizza from Verona doesn't like anything outside

Had prawns for starters with halloumi bites. Vegan nourish bowl for main which was lovely, Very tasty, could have had a couple more prawns in there to nudge it up to a 5* on food. We are midday on a Friday so very quiet, hence 4* on ambience. Service was cracking, attentive and engaging. Good job berko pizza express!

Seated promptly on a busy Friday evening, drinks order taken, food order taken, all arrived piping hot & delicious. All of the staff were really kind, professional and working hard. Highly recommended.

Arrived at opening. Greeted by very polite host. Food served in a reasonable time. Was chilly in the resturant - probably due to the early meal. Will be back when I am in the area next.

Quick service Busy Saturday lunchtime

Tried the big Pizza Express in Berkhamsted high street for the first time with my family for dinner. Great big restaurant - lots of space lots of tables - very nice. Great location - easy to park. Our waiter was Marius and he was very attentive - thank you. We all ordered 3 courses and lots of drinks. We didn’t have to wait for anything too long. The kids menu was good too. The salad was very fresh. Toilet facilities were good. No complaints. Would go back again.

First time back in two years, still as good as ever.

Pizza Express! Food enjoyed by all. Serving staff pleasant and helpful. Plenty of promotional activity if you sign up in website and food can be paid for using Tesco partner voucher. Makes it a no brainer really.

Whilst the old location at Park St was more intimate (small) the new location at St Johns Well has turned a big unit to give the same feel and great look with the added benefit of a terrace for summer dinning. You know what you're getting with Pizza Express and never disappoints and the service in Berkhamsted has the familiar faces to make it great. Fun team, great location, lovely decor and the pizza have some great flavours, if that's not enough there are good choices on beer and wine to make it a great escape in the week/weekend.

Best Gluten Free pizza in the U.K.

Not much to say except its the typical Pizza Express. Prices are getting up there now , £50 for 2 pizza's , Childs option and drinks.

Really lovely Pizza restaurant, we were given a warm friendly welcome and given how busy it was, were served in good time. Pizzas were very well prepared and presented and were delicious- I took the time to compliment the chef as we were leaving. Highly recommended

Really disappointed in the Chilli Prawn Starter. 3 Minuscule Prawns, chopped tomato and Pepper, grapes halved with apricots, definitely not good value for money, shame because the Pizza was delicious

Best toilets around here. The tomatoes sauce base for the pizza tasted just like tinned tomatoes 🍅. Not very nice tbh. Waitress with glasses was absolutely fantastic. Different gravy. Thanks for the free pizza via the app.

Really sad !!! I work in the catering industry and ordered from these guys as I know the MD … what a complete sham ! No real direction, couldn’t give me any real answers… but yep took my money . Avoid at all cost !

Really poor environment as soon as we walked in. Had to wait to be seen at the door, even though not very busy. Lots of tables not tidied and staff seemed flustered. Language from kitchen not appropriate for patrons to hear.

Arrived at 5.15 on a Sunday for a family meal. Walked out at 5.45 without even our drinks order having been taken. Not especially busy, either. Won’t be back.

As i was looking for a place to eat a dinner with my friends we stumbled across this place, even though looked full they managed to take us in right away( group of4) Will come back!

First time to this pizza express and normally there all alike, but not this one!! From the moment you entered to the moment you leave it’s the perfect experience. The welcome, the service and even the presentation of the bill. I met Mayur (hope this is the correct spelling) who runs a tight ship and does it with a smile!! Would highly recommend.

Such a shame. We went for an impromptu dinner and have always loved pizza express. But this one really let us down, the calamari was wet and clearly from frozen. And my pizza came cold and burnt, but I still ate it as we were hungry. My partner went for the al forno dish with njuda Sausage .. well it’s not a baked dish (as al forno would suggest) and we watched as the chefs were careless and plonked cold mozzarella onto the hot pasta dish making it curdle and after tasting it was clear there was no sausage (as we couldn’t see any) and they had drizzled chilli oil all over the pasta meaning it was swimming. We sent the pasta back and was so put off it had it removed from the bill. But he went hungry and unfortunately they’ve put us off pizza express completely.

My girlfriend's pizza was burnt and I was served literally the worst excuse for a baked njdua linguini I've ever seen. Cold mozzeralla, two leaves, no meat at all smothered in chili oil to and definitely not baked. Really dissapoint. Returned my meal and went hungry. Servers were great but the chefs really don't care about the food.

We popped here at around 6pm, midweek, for a quick bite to eat. We didn't have a booking but we were able to get a table. The kids menu is good value, 3 courses for £7.95 (I think!) but I was a little disappointed with my pizza (one of the Leggera pizza) as it was quite burnt - I still ate it but it was a shame. I will also say that I do find Pizza Express pizza to be on the small side and not necessarily the best value for money. Overall the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly but it turned out to be quite an expensive meal for 2 adults and a small child.
