Well where do i start, The first this I see when I arrive is a rat running behind I can only assume is the kitchen !! The manager was rude and disrespectful towards me and my partner when I asked him about dairy intolerance. I had friends recommend this place due to the food and one of their favourite servers who they think is Australian but not sure. When the food did arrive it was cold and inedible and tasteless and I felt sorry for the young staff who seemed to be stood around doing absolutely nothing at all, phones in hands looking like they’d rather be anywhere else on earth. Never in my life have i been so disappointed with a cafe. Never again !!

The Fishery Wharf, eh? A proper spot for a bite! The soups and hot chocolate there are top-notch, tasty treats for sure. But crikey, that Aussie bloke there trying to be the next big comedian? Give us a break! Despite the random humor, the food and drinks are well-made and delicious. A jolly good place to grab a meal, just mind the jokes! Cheers!

I recently visited the Fishery Wharf Café with my family, and it was a delightful experience. The café is situated right by the canal, offering a lovely and peaceful atmosphere. We enjoyed coffee and brownies, which were absolutely delicious. They also offer a variety of food options, from hearty breakfasts to light lunches, all made with locally sourced ingredients. The staff were incredibly friendly, adding to the warm and welcoming vibe of the place. Afterward, we took a short walk along the canal and were lucky enough to see boats passing through the locks—a real treat! There is convenient but limited parking available, so it’s worth arriving early. Highly recommend it for a relaxing meal or coffee break, followed by a pleasant stroll by the water!

I wasn't aware of the Fishery Wharf Cafe until I was invited along by a friend to play at the Open Mic night (which happens on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month). The open mic is hosted by local legend Shane Lamont and is an absolute blast. If you're a musician you need to get on the board before 7pm in order to be certain of getting a place (typically there are 15 - 20 looking to perform). The cafe is a cozy little place by the canal with a lot of outside seating, and inside seating enough for about maybe 40 people. They have a small menu, mostly burger-oriented. There is a small but well stocked bar. The guy who owns the place is friendly and clearly enjoys his work! I visited in winter but would be quite keen to visit during the summer! Look forward to returning!

Nice food, but so expensive. We had brunch here the other week and whilst the service is good and it's a nice atmosphere, the food is far too expensive for what you get. I get that you need to pay for quality, but there are places in St Alban's where the quality is the same or better but the cost is far less. The final straw was being charged £3.95 for a really small square of very average rocky road!

Really rude treatment, horrible hygiene and not so great food… Honestly, i thought it might be a nice simple meal out with my husband as he wanted pizza and i wanted something with chicken. This pasta dish with chicken came to me soggy and was horrible. I didn’t complain when i was there because the lady that served us was incredibly rude and unkind. She sat us at a table that was not cleaned. We asked if she could clean it and she came with this already used wet cloth and wiped one section of the table and sprinted off. I called her back and said it’s wasn’t cleaned properly then she sort of argued with me. It’s almost like she got offended. Then after we asked if we can have our drinks together with the food at the same time. She proceeded to bring it anyway straight after the order and when we mentioned she raised her voice a bit and told us that it’s very busy and that she can’t bring it later with the food apparently. Absolutely appalling behaviour. Service: zero Hygiene: zero Food: zero It is such a shame for a quality town like Berkhamsted to have such food places that perhaps doesn’t not deserve its location. If you want constructive feedback - your staff need serious training and discipline! They shouldn’t be allowed to treat customers rudely and overall one of their main responsibilities is tables to be clean and hygienic! Either way we won’t be coming back to this branch!
