Frequent Pizza Express alot and the Derbion branch is probably the worst for customer service. Everything seems such a chore to the staff. Hard for them to come and greet you, hard for them to raise a smile. Never get asked if we'd like another drink. No complaints about the food, just the employees.

A good meal, nicely cooked. But a very important operational observation- there were several flashing lights that could cause an epileptic fit. Should be repaired ASAP

Dire!! Unfortunately this place was such a let down..we were a table of 8 , food arrived at different times. We weren't asked if we wanted any more drinks, throughout our meal , weren't asked if we wanted desert afterwards... has to chase the bill.. Food took ages and was very underwhelming Absolutely poor!!

Ordered with plenty of time to deliver promptly. Order arrived late. All Food stone cold. No refund or alternative provided. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely amazing after our previous visit to the Irongate branch. We went with slight trepidation. Service was fantastic, friendly and helpful. Sorry, I can’t remember our waiter’s name but we were on table 14. Food was amazing, no faults at all. My husband’s pizza was tweaked to his liking with no fuss or bother. All orders taken from memory which I think is brilliant. Then again that’s probably my age as I wouldn’t remember after 30 seconds.

Me and my mum went to celebrate a promotion and my engagement. We were well and truly spoilt and well catered for. We will definitely be coming again!

Well, I would be writing here what an absolute blast my daughter & her friends had today - if I hadn't have been rung THE NIGHT BEFORE (Sat 22nd July 2023) @ 8pm, cancelling the party, after initially receiving an email to say that everything was confirmed. It was the Pizza Express @ the Irongate restaurant. 8pm!!!! On a Saturday night! What the hell was I supposed to do / rearrange in that time??! If I'd have heard sooner in the day, then fair enough, but 8pm...an absolute joke. My daughter overheard the conversation & was really upset I do hope that we receive something in return for the inconvenience?? Vouchers? Free pizza? Absolutely ridiculous

What can I say,after me making a big mistake thinking I'd booked our meal for 17.15pm..I'd only gone and booked it for 15.15pm..so 2 hours later , due to got to a concert at Derby Cathedral Peter the deputy manager soon sorted the situation out ..he got us a table straight away we ordered drinks they came straight away, Our ceaser salads followed..they were delicious 😋 Thanks again Peter you are a star 🌟..sorry for the inconvenience we may have caused, but you dealt with it in a suburb professional Manor thank you Best wishes Cathryn and Karen 😊

I’ve always been a fan of Pizza Express.. until last night. It was absolutely dreadful. We were a party of 6, out for my Sister in Laws birthday. Every single pizza that came out was burnt to a crisp! I though one of us would end up at the emergency dentist with a broken tooth! They didn’t taste fresh at all! The frozen pizzas I buy from Tesco are better! My husband had the garlic prawn pizza, there was two prawns on it and no garlic. I had the goats cheese pizza with not a piece of goats cheese in sight! We were passed the Dessert Menu only to be told half of the desserts weren’t available. The service wasn’t much better either! Our server was less than helpful and clearly wanted to be anywhere else other than there (but then again, who could blame her) Overpriced and terrible service. My father in law picked up the bill so not sure if we were charged Service Charge. Avoid this restaurant and if it’s Pizza Express you really want, take the short walk up to Irongate and try the Pizza Express up there instead

Me and my boyfriend were served by the lovely Laura I believe her name is. She was very attentive and efficient and we were in and out in the hour. Lovely food and will be returning !!!!

Staff are rude, don’t get what you want and even talk back to you but the food was brilliant except for when I saw the chef spit in one of the starters 💀

We were sat for nearly 20 minutes without even having a drinks order or some communication to say staff would be with us ASAP. We left without ordering.

It was clean and tidy and staff were welcoming, it was not a busy evening and food took a long time. They gave us a discount without having to ask for it which was kind of them.

My family and I had truly exceptional service last Friday. Probably the best I can remember for a very long time, anywhere. Hands down it has to be the best service we have ever had in a Pizza Express. We booked the table online and even though we arrived the early our table was ready. Our waitress was very friendly and polite. The whole service was so quick pretty much straight after we got our drinks our starters arrived. It wasn't long after our ta le was cleared from the starters our mains were at the table. Everything was cooked fresh and pippin hot. Such a great service and whatvyou would expect when eating out and paying for a nice famiky meal. Others should be taking a thing or 2 from the staff here.

Firstly I’d like to start with a positive our two pizzas were lovely, we really enjoyed them, although I would avoid the halloumi bites, they’re basically half a handful of crumbs for an extortionate price. Our main complaint stands with the rude waitress, who didn’t even show us to our table she ran ahead and threw the menus on a random table and walked off before we even managed to sit down. When she eventually took our order we ordered fizzy drinks as well as a glass of water for the table. This, sadly, never arrived. The food came out quick but we wasn’t once asked how it was. When the waitress took our plates away, again she never asked, instead she presented us with an attitude and no manners. We did want a desert but we weren’t asked and my partner wanted to leave by this point. To top it off we then had to chase the bill. Great pizza, shame about the staff.

We had a lovely meal last Friday evening. We chose to use the ‘starter and main for £11.95’ menu and it was really good value for money! We ordered the garlic bread, tomato salad and the dough balls, with an extra of the prawns. Then for mains we had the tomato pasta, bolognaise and a carbonara pizza on a classic base. All the food was very tasty and came out quickly. Our waitress, Laura was brilliant and we can’t thank her enough for making our night enjoyable, especially telling us all about Derby Feste! Would definitely return!

Came in for a midweek meal with friends, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Our waiter Matt was friendly and happy to help throughout our experience. However, we were unimpressed with other staff who seemed to notice our empty starter plates but did nothing about this, however they were very quick to come to us with the card machine to pay....Nice meal, friendly server just a shame about the slow service pace.

Came here as a group of 6 and each had a three course meal. I ordered the dough balls which were baked to perfection. then had the margarita pizza which was absolutely amazing. for desert i had the cheesecake which was omg the best thing ever. the food came so quickly, by far the quickest service ever. the friendly waiter made sure to help us in any way and often engaged with humorous conversation. already booked to go again xox

Went with my two children and my mum, we wanted a nice meal where we knew what we were getting as where there is a good children’s menu, which is what we got. The food and service were nice, nothing special. I think it’s expensive for what it is, but it was enjoyable and I would go back, everywhere was clean and tidy, food came out quickly.

I had the Sticky Toffee Bundt Cake for pudding which was meant to be served hot - the waitress told us it would take 10-15 mins in the oven, but when it arrived it was cold in the middle. When I mentioned this to the waitress (I had to go over to her) she said it was because I had been to the toilet... if served hot it would not go cold in the 2 mins I was in the toilet. She mentioned this to the manager who rolled his eyes and then offered to heat it up again. When the waitress returned the same pudding had been placed in the oven with the ice cream still on so it melted all over the pudding. The pudding was still cold in the middle though so they probably didn’t even reheat it, and it was difficult to get the manager’s attention as he tried to avoid us. Eventually I mentioned that for £6.95 a cold sticky toffee pudding with melted ice cream is not acceptable - he offered to make a new one but after the uncomfortable looks from the other staff who thought we were being difficult we decided to leave it and they refunded the cold pudding which was not eaten. I will not be visiting again and was very disappointed with how rude the staff were, making comments behind our backs and making us feel awkward and unwelcome. I generally like pizza express, however some of the restaurants I have been to are poor - if you want to go to pizza express in Derby I recommend the Irongate one it is much better.

Went on a Thursday evening when it was pretty quiet. At first, service was slow but the waitress was very helpful and I even got my favourite Bruschetta Con Funghi (Mushroom Bruschetta) which is no longer on the menu.

We dined on a Thursday evening at around 8pm. There appeared to be a staff shortage and service was therefore slow. We decided on a mixture of Pizzas and Pastas. The pizzas were greasy underneath and not as a proper italian pizza should be. They were expensive for what they were too. I wouldn't return in a rush.

I have been here a few times. The food is always delicious and the set menu offers great value for money. Definitely recommend.

Got seated quickly in a fairly busy restaurant on Good Friday! I must say it always takes a while from being seated until anyone comes to take a drinks order or food order! We had dough balls and mozzarella and tomato salad to start which was nice, but the plates weren’t cleared before the main courses came out! Food is always nice but I feel the service could be a little more attentive! We had a voucher for starter and main for £10.95pp which I think is reasonable for what we had!

My husband treated me to a night out and we thought we would go to pizza express and then the pictures. What a mistake!! We had to wait to be seated even though it was pretty empty. And then we sat there waiting for nearly 10 minutes to order a drink, when the food eventually arrived what a disaster, my husband had the sloppy Giuseppe pizza which he said was really good, I had the pollo pesto pasta which I have had many times at other branches but this was our first visit to the derby branch. All I can say is awful, the pasta was bland and burnt, there were pieces that I couldn’t eat as they were black. When the waiter finally came to take our plates he looked at my plate where I had left some of the worst pieces and he didn’t even ask if we had enjoyed our meal!! If we hadn’t been in such a rush as we were going to the pictures I would have left the meal. I won’t return and I wouldn’t recommend either. The service was terrible and the meal was was very poor.

I have visited Pizza Express before in Derby at the other location in Iron Gate. Having said this due to the fact this operation is a corporate chain I would say my comments apply to all branches. On my previous visits to Pizza Express I have rather unsurprisingly eaten pizza. Whilst this has been at best average it is what I have expected. In my eyes a pizza, no matter where it comes from, is pretty standard junk food. On my latest visit to the Pizza Express in the Intu Centre I ordered lasagne for around £12.00 and a bottle of white wine for around £17.00. The staff were efficient and friendly, I received my wine at the table in a couple of minutes in a cooler. Some ten minutes later my lasagne was delivered. It looked pretty sad to be honest. Served in a black dish it was piping hot and still bubbling. Whilst the presentation was acceptable the product itself was awful. For £12.00 the lasagne was slightly larger than my hand. In depth it was no more than a centimetre and a half of which most was pasta with very little sauce. It rapidly sank as it cooled. Taste was fairly standard for a lasagne. To be honest a £1 frozen lasagne from Iceland would have been a better product at a vastly reduced price. The wine was acceptable but no better than a £5 bottle from Sainsbury's. A very poor meal overall and I will not be returning. I'd go as far as to say it was a rip-off. I have awarded 2 stars only for the fact the staff were working hard and were friendly.

Managed to get a table without a booking so on that front the staff were accommodating. The food & service was ok-ish - did not bowl me over. I have tasted better pizza elsewhere. The tables are very crowded together and overall the restaurant very noisy. Personally I think it's too pricey for what you are actually getting.

Good food as usual, service was prompt and food arrived very quickly too. Maybe the service was a little too prompt; we opted not to look at the dessert menus but rather finish our drinks. However the bill was placed on the table almost immediately after our plates had been cleared. We hadn’t asked for it, we were still drinking and therefore found it slightly rude. A cue that we’d over-stayed our welcome by not having desserts?

Attentive service, good quality food (served quickly for the kids), good portions sizes - the polar opposite from Pizza Express Trafford Centre. Pollo Pesto was really good, low calorie pizza option had lots of salad.....ha ha. Kids love the dough balls !

We had a meal before going to see a film and it was really nice. The antipasti to share was really tasty, fresh and a generous size. I’m coeliac so I had gluten free dough balls with it which were really nice.

We all enjoyed out pizzas and pastas tremendously. My kids are extremely fussy and yet staff were very accommodating and the kids definitely liked their dishes, they cleared them up which is a rare occurrence! Staff were lovely and service was quick and all round pleasant. Highly recommended!

We turned up on a Friday evening rather late and rushing to go to a performance at the Derby Theatre. Despite this the staff were very pleasant and agreed to allow us to have our starter there and then and to then have our main after the performance along with our voucher's offer. I really didn't think they would say yes but by allowing us to do this we ate with them and were very happy customers. The food was of a high standard as usual and we will definitely be eating here next time we visit Derby Theatre! Well done to the staff for being so accommodating.

The title says it all. The fresh Pizza is soooooo nice, you wont be disappointed. Freshly made pizza right in front of you. Pleasant laid back atmosphere and the staff are friendly, courteous and allow you to eat your meal in peace.

Set in the Intu centre we were spoilt for choice, but decided on this restaurant as we have always enjoyed eating at others in the chain. The service was excellent and the food up to the usual standard.

I booked a table online for 20.30pm as it wouldn't let me book any earlier. When we arrived the place was half empty so I'm not sure why I couldn't have booked any earlier. Anyway we were seated, I noticed a couple of serviette's on the floor around our table. We then waited nearly 15 minutes for someone to come over to take our drinks order. By this time we were very hungry and had decided what we would like to order. Finally we ordered. Our drinks came quickly and not long behind we're our pizzas. I ordered the gluten free pizza which was very wet and not crispy at all which was a shame. It was ok. Don't think we'll go back for a while.

Me and my friend visited last night, I booked a table yesterday online at mid day, got an email confirmation... but when we arrived at 5pm they didn't have it down on their 'booked tables' list. It wasn't an issue as there as a table for us, however I would have been annoyed if it was busy and couldn't get a table. This is the only reason I have given a 4 not 5. Service was great, the waiter that served us knew a lot about the drinks selection when we asked. Pizza was yum! Will be back :)

Popped in Wednesday evening and its was busy, the menu has plenty of choices, the service was quick and friendly, the pizza's all good and the deserts even better, well worth the visit.

Really enjoyed the food and the service. I had the seafood rigatoni which was delicious. My daughter had the kid's pepperoni pizza and my wife had the Caesar salad. All of it was demolished, daughter had colouring crayons and we had lovely drinks as well. Will go again!!

My husband and I came here for dinner as we were given a voucher by a friend. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The food was delicious I had the cannelloni which was very filling.

Cheery attentive waiter. We opted for starters and a main each. One vegan in the family and she was very pleased with her food, the waiter offering to change the garlic butter in one dish to garlic oil so she could have it.

Saturday lunch with a friend we arrived at 12.10 and it was quiet, but after 10 minutes I had to grab the attention of a waitress, who were in a group chatting to each other to order drinks. I request a white wine spritzer and was surprised that I would have to pay for a bottle of soda water! So decided to have just the wine, pinot grigio which was lovely but at £6.90 for a 250ml glass I thought expensive. The service did get better and we were served with our lunch quickly. Very disappointed with my Nisoise salad small amount of tinned tuna, anchovies and just salad greens 4 pieces of cucumber, I request no tomatoes. The bread which came with it was lovely but as I am trying to diet had just a small amount. Therefore I came away hungry and had paid £11.10 for my pathetic salad! No meal check or opportunity to express my disappointment and as I was catching up with my friend I didn't want to make a fuss. Won't be going back.

Amazing team and great manager, the best La Reine I've ever had with plenty of topping and well cooked! Dough Balls were lovely too! The toilets are very roomy and clean. There are a lot of spacious tables and it's a pleasant restaurant.

We visited on a Saturday Night at peak time, but the restaurant was almost empty. Food was mediocre, my pasta pollo was bland, could of done with some spice! My family were happy though. Pleasant staff.

We are a family of four, and ordered a starter of dough balls and garlic bread, four American classics along with two alcoholic drinks and two soft drinks coming to a total of £70, this was a rip off, none of us were full when we had finished and had to buy snacks on the way home.

We have been frequenting pizza express for many years and sadly the quality of food, particularly the portions of toppings and ingredients in very expensive salads have become increasingly poor ( and lacking the variation of the description ) to the point they are shocking and we felt totally ripped off. The poor waiting staff have to look you in the eye and try to justify what they know is poorer and poorer quality over time.

After the cinema we thought about a treat and booked a table.

My friend wanted to treat me to a nice lunch. Ordered a Marguerita Pizza and was more than disappointed. The case was so thin it could have been described a warmed up wrap. The tomato base looked like it had been added and then scraped off. Four plastic pieces of cheese we plopped on top.

Out of all the restaurants in Intu, chose Pizza Express as had eaten here before. However, found the menu quite limited and wished I had gone elsewhere so that I could have had a wider choice. Six of us visited Pizza Express for a family birthday. We found the food to be good but the service was on the slow side. One of the orders brought to our table was incorrect but they didn't take too long to remedy the situation. We also used a 2for1 pizza voucher found online.

I've been to several pizza express restaurants and always enjoyed the food. Last week was the first time we tried this particular pizza express. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. My pizza was very burnt, the edges and middle of the base were not edible and ruined the flavour of the pizza. They were busy but the pizzas are not cheap so they really need to have some one checking the food that's about to be served. We won't be eating here again.

Our previous visit to a different Pizza Express did not impress us. It is good to say that this one has renewed our opinion. The service and the food was good; the waiter was efficient and friendly and the surroundings were modern and pleasant. Generally a good experience. We visited lunch time and it was very busy, as was the shopping centre, so on busy days get there early.

Visited for a lunch with my daughter . Great service , great food X Food hot & arrived quickly will be coming back .

1st time and LAST it was DREADFUL took ages to take order it took 3 attempts to get a Hot Chocolate anything like tepid let alone hot, food was a great disappointment certainly not good value for money, will never go again

Been to this pizza express several time never a problem, food always lovely the service is great the staff are so polite and always have my food made spot on hence why I keep going back great place!

Title says it all what a lovely waiter Matt was so sincere and very polite. Food was lovely and tasty and didn't really wait too long to arrive at the table. Not badly priced either. Will be returning

Pizza Express is another high street restaurant where you know really what you are going to be eating before you arrive but I was really impressed with the Anti Pasta it was really good with lots a surprises.

Usually we use the Pizza Express in the Cathedral Quarter, which I have to say has a much nicer ambience.

Pizza express is a great place to take the children in the holidays. Unfortunately I recently had a bad meal here. This has persuaded me not to return. The pizza I ordered was about £11 which I thought was expensive. As I was eating out with my boyfriend I thought I would order something that expensive as a treat even though it was cheese and tomato. The pizza was burned and because of that I had to leave about half of the £11 pizza. I took look on Trip Advisor to see if other people food has looked like this. As the pictures did not appear to look like my pizza I have come to the conclusion that they must have been so busy with the school that they messed up one pizza. Other than the pizza we ordered the dough balls these were very nice and tasty. Although it might be one mistake that anyone can make I don't think I will be returning.
