There is a service charge, but no service charge was applied. The pizza dough was crispy and it was very delicious.. The lasagna is amazing!!! It's super delicious... I think Ryazanya could be a good restaurant haha. Anyway, I had a good meal. The downside is that there is no air conditioning, so I ate while sweating. Cola, pizza, lasagna A total of 38.75 came out..

We were lucky getting in and seated quickly, and our server was polite and friendly, when a server was available, which was not often. The food which wasnt a pizza was awful, it was cold and clearly reheated which made it stodgy and disgusting. I have had better chicken from McDonald's. There was also no condiments available, as in they don't even have them on the premises. They clearly believe in quantity over quality, but it was expensive and disgusting. Won't be going to a Pizza Express ever again after this experience. It's basically a poor copy of Prezzo.

I came here with my sister a couple of weeks ago and on arrival everything was great. We got seated and ordered very quickly. Our startes came out within 10mins of ordering which was lovely but we hadn't even finshed our starters and our mains came out as well. Food was overall nice but went cold very quickly. We then had to wait over 40 minutes just to get our plates taken away and get a ahold of a desert menu and then waited another 15mins for our dessert to actually come out. Then waited another 15-20 minutes to get the bill. The worst thing about the whole situation is that the restaurant weren't even that busy so I can't imagine how you handle a busy day.

Ivo our waiter was brilliant, polite, quick and incredibly friendly he was really helpful and made several jokes with us. He made us feel so welcomed. We have been to other pizza expresses and other Italian restaurants but none have been as good as the service that Ivo has given us. Would 100% recommend and it was a bust Saturday night in summer!

Nice restaurant next to charing cross station

Service was chaotic and reluctant. No one came to the table for over 10 minutes after we sat down and no one wanted to catch h our eye. Our starters arrived after the main, which was missing the salad dressing. Kids menu is good but there was no pasta available, apparently. Pizza was fine and you always know what you’re getting with Pizza Express but the whole experience was loud, chaotic and slow.

Nicely cooked pizzas. Bbq chicken was a lovely flavour. Staff very friendly and efficient. Good service all round.

Had a meal with colleagues here the other day. They get very busy at lunchtime so there's often a bit of a delay getting served. However, Chris our waiter was great, very friendly and efficient. My romana pizza as always was hot and crisp. Will definitely be back soon!

Despite booking ahead, with a show to get to, the table was not ready until 15 minutes after. Too late.

Nice and welcoming place.. we had a very nice and friendly waitress.. the pizzas were really good.. Margherita a little expensive for the small size (baby pizza).. my husband had a good Roman pizza and standard size but paid a good 18.46 pounds🤦‍♀️ we tried to ask for coffee but we had a laugh with the waitress telling her that it was colored water🤣 anyway I really recommend it for those with children and for those who want to eat something close to Italian tastes 👏 💪

I am an elderly and I tried to get help with ordering a pizza and was insulted and then they hung up, I do not appreciate this it was very un kind. 0 STARS !!!!

The women who is the manager with a severe attitude and dismissive . The service is a chaos, however I am not surprised after seeing the manager behaviour.This lack of attentiveness made the dining experience frustrating and disappointing considering the reputation your restaurant chain.Additionally, the restaurant was not as welcoming as was very dirty and messy.The overall cleanliness of the dining area left much to be desired. Totally unsatisfied and unlikely to return in the future.

The food was lovely and the service was OK, slightly disappointed when they got the order wrong and it took a while to rectify it.

We booked a table for 5.45. Understandably busy due to the half term but we got there on time. We then had to wait for our table (at least 20 minutes) We weren't seated until 6.10. Extremely cramped with loads of people around us while waiting. It was only the fact that I pointed out to the staff we would miss our train if we had to wait any longer to be seated and the fact we had booked and didn't have a table albeit people who didn't book were being let in before us. Once seated, we were downstairs. It was extremely noisy and we couldn't hear each other without raising our voices. We tried to order on the app, in line with the leaflet but were greeted with a £69 bill on our table on the app. We questioned with a staff member who stated we had to wait to be table served. We then had to wait a long time for a server to come and serve us. When the food arrived, the sauce was cold and was over the side of plate on one pizza. I am disappointed with the presentation of it with the lack of cheese and clear disregard of quality check. The server at the end whilst giving us our bill showed a disinterest for valuing our request of using a different voucher to what was applied, commenting that it would take too long (the restaurant had slightly cleared by now). The toilets were vile - the smell was disgusting, making me feel sick. I am extremely disappointed and ashamed of our low standard visit and shall never visit again. It ruined our day - we came home and all we were talking about was how this ruined our day out. Wish we could give 0 stars!

It’s not a secret that the central places of the capital are risky places to eat out. The logic is that they get enough foot traffic from tourists not to care too much about ppl not returning. But sometimes you need to take guests for a quick bite, and some previously “reliable” chain conveniently located… I could say one thing - don’t come here, the service will spoil your mood. Imagine have to wait and wait and wait to put an order. Imagine you waive at the waiter standing 2 steps away and he looks at you and walks away. Eventually you order your food with someone having almost hostile facial expression and dismissive attitude.. order comes 2 dishes short, you have to go out looking yourself. Same story with the bill. I’m hurriedly apologised to my horrified guests and left never to come back again.

We booked for +/- 100 people. Were promised everything would be on time. Pre-ordered all the meals. Arrived early and immediately reminded them of the time frame. Were obligated to order desert, but did not want to. Then had to leave because the service was so slow we would have missed Wicked otherwise. None of us got our desert and one of us was told her meal was gluten free, which it was not. Then: not even a tiny sorry. Never again.

Very quick and friendly place to eat

Had a really nice lunch at the Pizza Express on the Strand. Was welcome and seated promptly. Janine (a very pleasant and attentive server) came over and I asked for regular iced water and she brought me a bottle. I ordered a relatively light lunch. Dough Balls Al Forno (I have to admit the “It’s Back!” on the menu lured me in, and a surprisingly good size Side Rocket Salad. The food came quickly (more quickly than I expected) but the place still had some empty tables when I came in. It was tasty. I hadn’t expected to go to Pizza Express on this trip, and had never been before to one, but I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this one.

Basic pizza, but can we please talk about the 7£ tiny balls Arancinis starters ? In Italy they are 5 times bigger and cheaper. You can do better than that.

The food we ordered was good but we initially had the incorrect order but this was amended. I think the service needs alot of improvement the wait staff were polite but needs training on getting the correct order for the table. The manager was rude - understandably the place was under-staffed and it was busy but you shouldn't be rude to your customers and you should set an example for your staff on how to handle high pressure environments.

So, I arrived. Greeted very coldly an sat in the darkest corner of the space. Then ordered a. Black americano, came burnt, delivered with attitude so I decided to leave. Rubbish experience from a below average restaurant. Avoid if you can.

We came in here after the marathon, the staff were so quick and attentive, gave us their time despite it being really busy and our food was not only served quickly but was really tasty!

Came here having left previous restaurant due to poor service and cold food. Despite being fairly busy and getting close to theatre rush time they found us a table. Had a nice meal served quickly ( as they knew we had a show to get to) by lovely staff.

Pizza Express mains are always great, no complaint. The service here needs some improvement; staff don't want to help, don't want to make eye contact, and they seem only concerned with strictly their own tables and, I guess, some kind of commissions system. The wrong order was brought out too, and we had to pay extra due to the waiting staff not understanding our order. Nevertheless, it's Pizza Express, so it's still great.

Our waiter Saba was amazing. Very attentive, characteristic, an exemplary body of what the company stand for. 10’s across the board!! Will be coming back for her services for sure!! Ps. The lady at the door was so kind and respectful- made me and my friend feel very welcome. We will defo be back. Also food was a slight let down the calzone (chicken italiano) had raw dough.

Great pizza for the price and speedy service over a busy lunch time period.

We are from Hong Kong. Came visit the city during Easter Holiday 2024. We picked this Pizza Express (we have this at home too, one of our favs!) and i told the staff we are 3 people by showing 3 fingers, yet we are lead to a dark corner with only 2 chairs. I have to repeat we are 3 people. We ordered a Margarita, a Caesar salad. 1 adult 1 oldie and 1 ten year old kid. I am not sure if it is expected to order 1 dish per person. Staff are not friendly at all. The Caesar salad contains no Cos Lettuce….staff is not helpful and said “oh I am not aware of this” and she turned to the cooking staff asked if they ran out of Cos, and that’s it. No apologize no explanation. And, when i pay by cash with a 50 note, i am told its too big they don’t have changes…OK so this is the service in the tourist spot. Nice. Disappointment x 10000.

I would like to highlight how disappointing experience we had, when visiting this store. The waiting staff was just careless and slightly rude, there was only one young man with blond hair which was nice and pleasant and our waitress which we have received after moving the table. Sadly the others were just careless and laterally have no consideration of us having a baby with us. They have placed us into the table where we could hardly move and one of the waitresses wanted to even push our pram next to our table which was just silly and would mean that we wouldn't be able to sit down and eat. It was right in the corner between the window and entrance to the restrooms. The attitude of staff should really be reviewed. Just wanted to say thank you to this young man and the lady who have served us afterwards ( I don't know her name but was wearing purple lipstick), that they were lovely. Also the company should review their sitting allocation because some of the tables for 4 people especially with kids are just impossible to use and the experience is accordingly disappointing. The food was ok, nothing special. Also, the high chair for our son was dirty and I had to wash it before using it. It is sad to see, just because of the location where this store is located, everything else is being forgotten.

The food and atmosphere was nice, but they didn't tell us at the door that UNIDAYS discount codes weren't working, and it ended up costing us £16 more. They should have informed us that the UNIDAYS code wasnt working, service said that "it had been acting up all week and there wasn't anything they could do" despite us having student ID. Disappointing.

Had a lunchtime pizza here and as usual it was delicious. Very polite staff, quick service and the regular fantastic menu. Best place for pizza by a long way.

If you are disabled or want to change a nappy do NOT visit this restaurant. The disabled toilet was in an absolutely disgusting state. It had obviously not even been looked at let alone serviced in days, possibly weeks. Tap could not be turned off but more offensively, the toilet bowl full was full to almost overflowing and could not be flushed. I visited in my wheelchair so using it was my only option. I shall not be returning and was embarrassed that a restaurant so popular with tourists could be allowed to let this fall into such a foul state.

Slow service at a time when the restaurant was pretty quiet. Pizza was slightly undercooked. Caesar salad was really good. Experience overall was fine but a little underwhelming.

Good location and you can't go wrong with Pizza Express. I only have 4 stars because it is "only" a Pizza Express, i.e. nothing special or different. This is possibly a bit harsh however

The service was fantastic. Could.nit have asked for better. There was a slight wait to be seated but to be expected. The food was average tho. But with the price paid really not the quality expected. We had a macaroni cheese which on its own would be 1 star. Tasteless. Pizza, a kids meal. And desert. Luckily I used 40 pounds in tesco voucher as the outstanding bill was still 41 pounds. I know pizza is expensive but for a lunch time meal. Two adults and child over 90 quid is quite expensive especially given the quality of the food. I don't think I would plan to go to again. For 90 pounds I would expect much better quality

You always know what you're going to get with pizza express. The pizzas were tasty and the dough balls were delicious. Great location and nice big, spaced out restaurant. I've taken a star off because the service was very slow, even though there weren't that busy. Our dough balls were also Luke warm by the time they arrived.

Fast and expensive The food is cold, very little toppings but it's good. I don't necessarily recommend.

Its a great venue, the manager is very personable and will go the extra mile to make sure customers feel welcome. The staff are very friendly and the location is quite scenic and peaceful now that the road outside has been pedestrianised. The lighting is nice and the restaurant is clean.

This was Pizza Express as expected in terms of standardised food and quick service. Only reason for lower marks is that it felt understaffed and we had to go and speak to our waitress a couple of times to place orders or make requests. Kudos to her though as she did a fab job getting everything ordered and to our table quickly. Re the atmosphere - it is a mammoth space downstairs here and it wasn't full which made it feel less exciting. I highly recommend booking here as if you just drop by you may well be disappointed due to its situation and 'Pizza Express' popularity.

The staff were all great, engaging with the kids and attentive. Food was good as expect with Pizza Express. Location perfect - walkable from Buckingham Palace / Big ben and across the road from Charing cross stations. Writing a review to flag that the ladies toilets downstairs need some proper investment. The taps were hanging off, all but one toilet was blocked. I really got the feeling this was a recurrent problem. I felt sorry for the staff - this seemed like unnecessary work for them if they were fixed in the first place. So this is a request to those who hold the purse string - fix the loos.

Ordered Pollo Pesto this evening. I received a dish that was lukewarm at best and the onions were raw.This used to be a dish that was served piping hot to te table. Considering the increased cost I don't expect this. I didn't eat half the meal. Whilst the waiter offered a replacement I didn't have time for this. I said that she shouldn't have needed to offer a replacement when it should just be cooked properly in the first place. When I left I was given rolling eyes by the door staff, for what seems like a reaction for me simply making a complaint.

Restaurant was very busy to give them credit, and our waitress was absolutely lovely. However, I ordered the Chilli King Prawns - "Juicy butterflied king prawns, garlic butter, tomatoes, roasted peppers and chilli flakes with fresh tomatoes, red onion and parsley, served with Dough Balls". First they came uncooked, and secondly they certainly were not Juicy Butterflied King Prawns, they were the smallest prawns you could imagine. I wish I had taken a picture. They were definitely not worth the £9 charged. My partner's starter arrived about 5 minutes before mine, our wine arrived well after the starters. Our mains arrived before we had finished our starters. My pizza was tepid. Overall a sad experience and a disappointment. Such a shame from what I remember a good quality go to chain.

Attended for a school trip with my son, they made their own pizzas. The chef was amazing (Roberto) so knowledgeable and passionate about Pizza express! Our Host Chris was wonderful with the children had us all laughing and was very warming! Thank you to the whole team for a great day and experience!

Pizzas sub standard for Pizza Express, looked like they had been thrown together by a toddler, toppings unevenly spread and severely lacking in cheese and pepperoni. The pepperoni was small and tasteless to the norm from Pizza Express. To top it all they were barely cooked, had to send them back to the kitchen for them to cook. Will not use this branch again, worst one I have ever visited. Cue the response form the manager how they always aim to give 10/10, well words are easy to write, the proof is in the number of low reviews you have!

Terrible - rudely accused of taking photo of Pizza Express worker whilst I was waiting to be served at the till. I took out my mobile as I was waiting and don't know if it was the glare. I showed him my photos that I did not take any photos. No apology - nothing. I left. This was after I had left another Pizza Express restaurant on Strand as I only wanted to order starter and manager said I had to order a main otherwise can't be seated. Are all Pizza Express like this in London?

Worst service ever had in a pizza express

Came with my daughter for an early lunch, really nice seating in the corner, lovely server, the only downside is the pizza was cold, we did mention it but nothing was done about it, we were starving from travelling and walking all morning so still enjoyed it, in “normal” home town life it would have gone back or been taken off the bill, The place is packed so I guess attention to detail isn’t going to be top priority to a chain restaurant, you kind of know what your getting before going in. Stunning glass of Sav served at the correct temperature

I want on a Saturday with my family. We didn't even get offered anything to drink when we sat down. And that was only that start of the problems. We ordered starter the 2 classic dough balls and other type, we got one classic and one completely the opposite what we ordered so had to wait 5mins for me. Then the food came out, it was cold. Like Ice cold. We told them they took it away and we got new fresh and hot ones in 15mins. It ruined the nice day out to get served cold food. The only positive would be getting 20% discount in the food because of the cold pizza.

Standard fayre for Pizza Express. Service wasn't great, despite the restaurant not being overly busy. We had to remind the staff twice to bring a dessert menu, also had to ask 2 different staff to bring the bill. Not sure we'd be rushing back.

Nice pizza (I had the garlic prawn romana) and very glad to know that they do gluten free food (one of our group had dietary requirement) very well. Decent price with app offer. Our waiter Kris was very friendly and helpful. A good meal all in all.

La cubana pizza was totally AMAZING. Sadly we weren’t that hungry to order more items….I want to highlight the friendly attitude and excellent service of our waitress Iryna!!

We were a large group and arrived before our booked time but they coped okay. Paying the bill took ages.

I appreciate it’s a busy restaurant, but what a disappointment. Our starters arrived before our drinks, then our mains arrived while we were still eating our starters. They took the mains away but clearly just left them on the side as when we were ready for them, they were borderline cold. We then just sat there chatting for ages with no service for around 40 minutes, in the end I asked someone attending to a kids party if we could have a dessert menu - finally we ordered and this was probably the best part of the entire meal! Once finished, I pretty much asked for a bill from again the kids party server in order to get out of there. Why did we pick Pizza Express? Because it’s always been a favourite of my sons, and as we were in London for a day out as part of his Christmas present, it seemed fitting. Will never eat there again, it won’t affect their trade as opposite Charing Cross station and tourism will keep them open, but we won’t be back.

Visitamos este restaurante durante un viaje en Londres después de visitar otro de la misma cadena en un día anterior y haber tenido buena experiencia, sobre todo con el servicio, a diferencia del de este. Decidimos comer varias pizzas y otros platos. Para empezar, una de las camareras que nos atendió me ofreció añadir toppings extra a mi pizza, pero parece que olvidó mencionar que suponían un recargo adicional de 2 £ por cada uno, detalle que de haber sabido, quizás hubiéramos decidido no añadir nada. El servicio a la mesa fue lento y tardamos en tener todos la comida. Además, pedimos agua del grifo, pero en su lugar nos sirvieron una botella de agua de 5 £. Pedimos también una porción de tarta para celebrar el cumpleaños de uno de los integrantes de los comensales de 7.5 £, y no tuvieron el detalle de añadir una simple vela. Lo peor estaba por llegar, al ver la cuenta y ver que ascendía a más de lo que esperábamos. Después de haber pagado, nos dimos cuenta de que habían aplicado un recargo de 12 £ como propina por el servicio, que como ya he mencionado, creo que no fue suficientemente bueno como para merecer siquiera 1 penique. Nos la jugaron.

I really don’t like leaving negative reviews, but this place is to be avoided at all costs. Firstly I will leave the only positive - the staff. Our server, Chris, was amazing. Super friendly and accommodating, yet absolutely run ragged. He was also very apologetic annd embarrassed about our horrible experience. Firstly, the place was completely understaffed for a busy pre-theatre seating. All staff were running around up and down stairs, doing their best…. but we felt so sorry for them. It was shocking the pressure they were under. Secondly, the food was abysmal. Honestly I’ve always championed Pizza Express as one of the better pizza chains, but this food was dire. One pizza was burnt, one was undercooked, and the halloumi bites were a congealed mess of nothingness. Was so embarrassed, as had brought guests from abroad with me. Finally, and worst of all was the state of the ladies toilets. I have NEVER seen anything so disgusting in my life - even in the worst of pubs. They looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for months - hair, mud and muck all over the floors… 3 toilets blocked, and one (sorry to be so graphic) was full of faeces and blood. Missing cistern flushes, a toilet seat lid cracked in half and actually held together by brown tape- as was a toilet roll holder in another stall. Clearly no maintenance occurring. I reported to Chris who was v embarrassed and tried to get someone to sort it out, but unfortunately all that was done was that 3 of the stalls were completely locked up, and more tape was put on the broken toilet roll holder. This left 2 stalls remaining. By the time we left, one toilet was completely blocked up and the other was starting to do the same. I’m utterly disgusted by the whole experience at this restaurant and hope the manager immediately takes charge, as apart from the understaffing and the horrible food, the hygiene level is absolutely disgraceful. I will never return and would advise anyone else to steer well clear.

Walked in with out reservation . They were able to fit us in within 30 min , despite beeng busy and short staffed. Sion was amazing and very patient with us. Great service and food. Will deffinately come back..Thank you

Went here before the theatre and had a lovely time! We was served by a young lad who couldn’t have been better, so lovely. Had an issue with the order but he quickly resolved it. Food was amazing, highly recommend!!

Visited this place on Friday 29th Dec had a table booked and understandably due to the time of new it was very busy, we have been customers and big fans of Pizza Express for many years this was the most horrendous experience I can remember, let start with the meet and greet, only one word for this rude, we were given a table downstairs it was very busy, we waited around 10 minutes could be longer before anyone came to us, then another ten before our order was taken we ordered our drinks starters wine and mains , it took a few minutes for our drinks to arrive then ten minutes for one starter to arrive then the second one arrived six minutes later the third starter we needed to remind them then before that arrived our mains arrived which the took back to the kitchen but let say the staff were not happy to do this, we finished our starter and they brought our mains, but our side salad were missing it was a mixed side salad but when it did arrive after asking twice it was just green leaf not mixed and although our mains had gone back to the kitchen one of the pizzas was raw , yes raw, they did not charge us for the Raw pizza or the salad, interesting point during this very busy time the store manager was entertaining friend at the table next to us and had a very different experience from the paying customers around them , maybe this should be reviewed, in general the branch looked unloved by the team running it with many simple items like pepper mill missing
