Pizza Express in City of London, Westminster

Food was great and service was exceptionally fast even though the restaurant was very busy. Would definitely recommend 🤩

Another very good meal, we both had dough balls, my wife had pizza and i had chicken and penne (plate not hot enough, so meal lost temperaturetoo quickly). I finished with cheesecake, Mrs W had the mini dessert and coffee (not hot enough).

My partner and I ate in this Pizza Express tonight and found it disappointing. My partner had been literally a few days before in the exact same place and found a real difference in quality! The garlic cheesy bread has barely any cheese on it. The mozzarella sticks, I would assume would have been hard on the outside normally, but these were soggy and unable to be picked up. The halloumi bites were also soggy. The American pizza was lacking flavour. The cheesecake apparently was still frozen. The redeeming feature was the garlic prawn pizza which was lovely but naturally I would have liked a few more prawns on it. But there were just about enough. I understand they are busy on a Saturday night, but it was a real shame as it was a meal for both our birthdays. Our server was very nice however, just run off her feet.

- We ordered two pasta dishes, one was “chicken pesto” with cream and other condiments which was very good, but I ordered “chicken parmegiano”, in my case the noodles were warm to the point of cold, the sauce was good but it was not to my liking. - The attention of the guys at the entrance and also of the girl who served us throughout the dinner, excellent! Above all, she was very sweet, friendly and attentive if we needed anything. - The atmosphere was somewhat noisy because there were a lot of people (a large group of celebration-type kids), but when they left it became a little more relaxed and the music could be heard. The decoration is nice. - While it doesn't have much variety, it does have some dishes for different diet restrictions.

I sat there for 30 minutes without anyone coming to take my order! It's incredible! I left since the waiters didn't care about me!

The food was lovely, this is not a patch on the taste of the food at all, nor the lovely waiting staff who came over regularly to check we were okay and had all that we needed. This is a real experience that happened tonight, and also a few weeks ago. If you value tasty food, Pizza Express is always a go-to. However, this branch have been unkind to me on numerous occasions. I was due to attend two weeks ago, but was on a bus and it was diverted, so I therefore couldn’t make it. I rang Pizza Express on The Strand to let them know, to see if I could move the table to a later booking. Unfortunately, I couldn’t and they were very rude about it. I was screamed at, treated unkindly and when I told the phone operator to please stop screaming at me, he lost his temper and continued to keep going. I had to pass him onto a male friend, who shouted back at him to try and get him to calm down. The second experience was the manager in store today. She was rude and disrespectful. I turned up a few minutes early for my booking, and I said that I couldn’t stand in crowds for prolonged periods of time due to a medical condition. She seated me within the crowd too, saying that I had to wait like everybody else, irrespective of whether I had a disability or not. People were whacking me with their bags because there was little to no space to get in and out of the restaurant, there was broken ceramic on the floor by the doorway which was a serious health and safety hazard and people were getting irritable because the manager was ignoring the queue of people that was going out of the door, standing around and chatting into her headset and when she did come to talk to us, she had a very rude and unpleasant attitude. I would NOT attend this Pizza Express again, even when you’ve got a booking, the management staff are rude to you. The wait staff and the really lovely food are a credit to this place, I just wish the management team could match this.

One of the best pizzas I’ve EVER eaten, the crust is really thin tho just so you know (it’s literally written on the menu so it’s not reasonable to bash the restaurant for it) the crust is really good and it’s not bad that it’s thin, I highly recommend to get the red lemonade as a drink it’s SOOO GOOD. BUT we had to wait to pay for a long time

Given a nicely placed table even though it was busy. Waiter was attentive. Service was very speedy and we both enjoyed our food. Location for theatre and opposite the station was great for us.

The pizza bases were like razor thin discs of leather and difficult to cut (it's not clear why they arrived at the table uncut). They were certainly not worth the £45+ charged for two pizzas, two dips and two drinks (that we also had to pour ourselves)

Pizza average service poor with rude staff. Wouldn’t recommend or go back. No surprises it was virtually empty.

Great pizza and excellent service, though there was a bit of a wait. The only downside was a loud alarm ringing throughout the visit—not the restaurant’s fault, but it did affect the dining experience. Otherwise, a great spot overall.

Recently, I enjoyed some delicious vegetarian dishes at Pizza Express, including pizza and bruschetta. I must say, both were quite good! The pizza was perfectly baked, featuring a wonderfully crispy crust topped with fresh ingredients that burst with flavor in every bite. However, it wasn’t cut, which made it a bit challenging to serve. The presentation was stunning, with vibrant colors that made it almost too beautiful to eat! The bruschetta was equally impressive, with toasted bread generously topped with a savory mix of ripe tomatoes, aromatic basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. It was a delightful appetizer that set the tone for a fantastic meal. We visited without a reservation, and although the restaurant was busy, the server welcomed us warmly. Overall, both dishes were a feast for the senses, and while the food wasn’t exceptional, I still recommend them to anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience!

Very average. Butter for dough balls was hard. Macaroni cheese ok, tiramisu dry. The sponge should be soaked in coffee. It wasnt. It was just dry sponge . I have mobility issues and asked for a corner table to give me room to get up and down and store walking sticks. Male server very helpful and helped me move from an unsuitable tiny table. Female server came and “told me off” for moving table! Not a great service impression

The manager was very kind when we realised we had appeared at the wrong restaurant and seated us anyway. Service was very quick when we explained we only had 30 minutes to spare. Pizzas were delicious. My daughter sorted out the table and the offer and the bill on her phone which was super quick and easy.

Food was at best microwave quality, and even that, they had managed to burn the pasta, no offer of parmesan on the dishes which every other italian cuisine establishment offer..., service was slow, and the ice cream was served in a drinks tumbler Awful Awful experience, I will not be returning

We visited Pizza Express at the Strand London. Everyone was very friendly, courteous and exceptionally efficient. We were seated quickly and considering it was pretty busy we were asked for our order promptly. Drinks arrived only minutes later, and food wasn’t long after. It was all piping hot, fresh and delicious. You can’t go wrong with Pizza Express and they just never fail to please.

Ioannis was a friendly, attentive waiter. Pizza Express' classic-based pizza always feels a little under done and IMHO, could do with a few extra minutes in the oven to crisp up. Can feel expensive too... £60+ for three pizzas, a wine and a beer without an offer. But otherwise, good vibes, easy food and no complaints about service.

We experienced a rude welcome. The waitress exudes negative energy. She is unfriendly and not cheerful. The menu looks appealing, but the pizzas are not good. I’m attaching a photo. The glasses are dirty. I wouldn’t come again and wouldn’t recommend it.

My sister and I enjoyed a really lovely dinner at Pizza Express 450 the Strand. It was a very busy Saturday night, however, we were sat at a table pretty quickly and were welcomed by our waiter Ioannis soon after we sat down. Despite it being really busy, we hardly waited any time before our drinks were served; our starters came soon after. There was a slight wait for our main cpurse, but it was well worth it, as the pizza was as delicious as always. Ioannis was a very attentive waiter and clearly a hard worker. Well done to Ioannis and the rest of the team.

Waited 15 minutes to be seated, waited 15 minutes to be served, waited 1 hour for food, when it arrived the pasta was burnt and the pizza under cooked, there were no sauces and the staff were all arguing! However, one waitress made an effort with our table and sorted the final bill out for us.

Perhaps we came at a bad time (7pm on a Thursday) but service took ages and with 3 kids it starts becoming a nightmare. Even with a fixed menu it took 2 hours. I had to send back my pasta parmiagiano as the pasta was cold, then the chicken tasted burnt on the underside. The server was obviously having a bad night. He wasn’t super unfriendly but was super cold and didn’t smile once throughout the whole night. We all felt he hated us for some reason (perhaps the 3 kids did it). Disappointing experience overall.

I love a pizza from Pizza Expeess, but this branch is damaging the brand based on my experience. I visited on 30 Dec, and there were too few staff to manage the restaurant when at capacity. It's unfair for the management to inflict the amount of stress on the staff to manage the workload needed, and setting all customers up for a really poor experience. Every single thing about my experience was so poor I'd be here all day writing about it. But looks like it could be solved by rostering or employing more staff. It's consistently the same experience in this branch when I visit.

Having finished eating after waiting, well again it's rush hour I accept. Then, we are seated and we wait (another) good 15 minutes before someone finally takes our order. After (more) waiting, my dish arrives without my partner's. We wait, he arrives 5 minutes later. We start to eat but problem: we still have no water. We ask someone who tells us "ok" then we wait... still... finally our waitress brings us the water... another 5 minutes later... when we had finished our dish 2 more swipes of the fork late. I don't know if it was the wrong night, the food was good, but I don't think I would come back next time I'm in London.

Booked a 1pm reservation for a family gathering at Christmas. It’s been an hour waiting. Stood up. No table, children are upset, we are all hungry, staff have been rude. This has been the worst service. Edit: it’s worth noting that after the below response there was a few back and forth emails then they stopped replying

Food was great and fairly quick. Waitress was great. Men’s Toilets were diabolical with loose toilet seats. All 3 toilets were minging, 2 blocked and one had an explosion. Granted this isn’t the restaurants fault and the turn over of people must be insane but they did look a bit run down. Only other criticism was we booked for 6:15 and ended sitting down 6:30. Not the best not the worst.

We went in by mistake, because we had seen the reviews of the pizzeria which we only later discovered was nearby. We ordered a pizza and asked if it was possible to have a Neapolitan pizza, they didn't know it, I ordered a margherita and it was obscene. In the end he asked us if we had Google and we didn't understand why we gave him the phone and he independently gave himself five stars with my son's phone. I find this rather shameful.

The pizza needed more cheese but great for a quick bite. Ioannis was attentive and he was sweet.

You get a pizza with a base that is thinner than a piece of paper. Not really filling, and the price for what you get is expensive

I ordered a pizza and I don't know if what I got could be called a pizza, it was thinner than a sheet of paper, and if I put it outside, the wind would blow away the "pizza". The toppings themselves are good, but because of the way this pizza is made, when you eat it, you only feel like the dough is burnt. I don't recommend this pizza to anyone.

Friendly, professional staff, and superb pizzas. Had the Duo Romana with 1/2 Hot American and 1/2 La Reine and honestly it was absolutely delicious, lots of toppings, thin and crispy, and served super quickly, piping hot. Ok the atmosphere is what it is, but in Central London we had a really tasty, filling lunch for 4 adults and 2 children which included a few beers, for just £150. Bargain!

Muy decepcionante, pedimos bolas de masa y bocados de halloumi para empezar, pero nuestras pizzas salieron primero literalmente a los pocos minutos y de alguna manera ya estaban un poco frías y el queso se había solidificado. No es una buena experiencia. En realidad comemos en diferentes Pizza Express regularmente y nunca hemos tenido una queja, así que nos quedamos sintiéndonos bastante decepcionados.

I have been looking forward to dining at PizzaExpress again for a long time. I was especially excited to enjoy their gluten-free Dough Balls once more. The food was absolutely fantastic, service was amazing and the restaurant provided a nice, peaceful atmosphere to relax and enjoy the meal. It can get a bit crowded at times, but it’s not a major issue. Thank you for another pleasant experience and delicious food:-)

Had a good time there today considering i went without a reservation on a Sunday at 7 pm. The host was lovely and our server was a polite blonde boy who I believe was named either San or Sam, he was great but clearly very stressed out and needed a break but he was busy with the other tables as the restaurant was full. The food didn't take long to come out, we got the margarita pizza, mac & cheese and crispy potatoes. The potatoes were cold but they replaced them for us as soon as we asked but everything else was great! The pizza and mac & cheese were hot and delicious and the potatoes came with a delightful marinara sauce. The atmosphere of the place was amazing and the staff were all helping each other out which was very nice. I just wished we went in on a less busy day because i know the service would've even better then, if you're in London i'd recommend a visit to it. As for the prices, i included a photo of the check.

Ich weiß nicht wie man das Pizza nennen kann. Der Teig ist eine Frechheit. Der Laden ist dazu völlig überfüllt, laut und man wartet ewig aufs Essen. Die Preise sind dann die Kirsche auf der Torte. Ich kann jedem, der Wert auf eine gute Pizza legt nur von Pizza Express abraten. Man merkt, dass es eine Restaurantkette ist und der fade Teig ist im wahrsten Sinne von der Stange.

Staff were very accommodating and welcoming even though they were very busy and we hadn't booked. Yannis was our server and was very attentive and gave service with a smile.

I was deeply concerned by the sanitation practices I observed during my visit. I sat near the kitchen, and what I saw was very unsettling. For the sake of not embarrassing my husband, I chose not to raise the issue at the time, but I couldn’t shake the discomfort I felt. I watched staff preparing food after using harsh chemical cleaners without washing their hands. There were no gloves used during food prep, and I saw one employee wipe his nose with his hands, yet no one washed their hands afterward. Additionally, one worker was drinking coffee over the ingredients used in meal preparation. I understand that eating out always carries some risk, but I think it’s reasonable to expect that those preparing our food would take basic precautions, as we would hope for them to do for themselves. I was extremely disgusted by what I saw. My husband encouraged me not to speak to management, but I feel it’s important for others to be aware of what’s going on behind the scenes. We had a great time here, they were very accommodating with us and our toddler, moved some tables together & were very understanding throughout. The lady who served us was ace & very helpful. We had a bad experience at the bow street pizza express and this was much better.

My friend and I dropped in for dinner on a busy Saturday night and had a lovely time. The food was delicious. Ioannes was a great waiter, most attentive but not intrusive. He was very friendly and professional. We will definitely return.

We went there spontaneously for lunch. Although we had to wait about 40 minutes for our food, it was also very busy. But it was good and the service was great.

Really poor quality food, my daughter had a dish that looked just slapped in a bowl , pasta thrown in overcooked with a lump of chicken on top. Coffee and hot chocolate were cold, sent them back. Tables not cleaned. Toilets smelt. Service at table poor , dumped food on the table as rushed. 4 of us left very unhappy

Lovely venue, busy but perhaps even slightly too efficient service. Overall though the kids pizza was very cheesy with plenty of pepperoni. My cannelloni was very tasty. Cocktails yummy. My waiters Redi and Yannis were great.

Nos acaban de apretar y la persona en recepción notoriamente tut tutted y nos llevó a la mesa justo al lado del baño. Pasamos al siguiente, que también era libre. Después de este servicio fue cortés y la pizza multa. Pero claramente solo quieren que comas rápido y liberes la mesa. Así que supongo que cumplía con los requisitos, pero era ruidoso, apresurado y el primer miembro del personal dejó claro que éramos un dolor
