Pizza Express in Watford

I can say this is the worst pizza express I have ever In my life been to . Service the worst they have no people skill and look lost . I waited 1hr for my starter doe balls and 1hr 25 for main It wasn’t even busy . Shocked me a defo will not be going there again

Good Pizza express very kid friendly. Good offer with kids eat free. There only appeared to be 1 toilet, which meant that we had to queue.

I recently tried the Classic Padana pizza, and unfortunately, it was the worst vegetarian pizza I’ve ever had. The toppings were bland, and the combination just didn’t work. The goat cheese, which should have been a highlight, was overpowering and tasted off. The onions were undercooked, and the base lacked the crispness and flavor that you’d expect from a good pizza. Overall, the pizza felt greasy and unappetizing. I was really disappointed, especially since I was expecting something fresh and flavorful from a vegetarian option. Definitely not worth the price or the hype.

Despite arriving at what looked like an incredibly busy Saturday Lunch. We were a a family of 5. Paul and his team found us a table within minutes of our arrival. Gulsen our waitress provided menus and took a drinks so efficiently & professionally. Our food order was promptly taken, Gulsen was very knowledgeable, regarding dish ingredients. On a personal note. Marco the chef and his team produced the best thin based Pizza’s, different toppings, amazing flavours. My Granddaughter had Mac & cheese, lovely and creamy. A huge thanks to the team at Watford. High Street.

This branch of Pizza Express is in a listed building and has a lovely ambience. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The menu was good value for money.

I dont know whether it was pizza express specifically.. my order left at 5 50.. my order turned up half hour later freezing cold. Delivery driver was sat somewhere for over 15 minutes.. so having to reheat my food.. really not impressed at all.

Initial estimate to arrive between 18.50 to 19.10. Arrived at 20.49 with app telling me at one point it had been already delivered. It hadn't. When it arrived it was luke warm and tasted like it was made at 18.30 (as kitchen ticket said) - inedible

I’m absolutely appalled! I don’t know why I even have to tick a star to move on to submit……SHOCKING! This is question is been asked how was my food & delivery I didn’t even receive what I’ve ordered & I want my money back & definitely not on credit to Just Eat so you can keep hold of my money…….Refund in full & delivery

Very slow service and the staff very noisy, from waiters being shouting to behind bar plates dropping. Don't expect a quiet and swift service there. Pizza was good.

Service was very poor. We were greeted with Hi, there’s a 30 minute wait. Almost like they didn’t want us to come in. Service took so long but food was decent. Atmosphere okay but the background music so quiet almost felt awkward.

Courier withheld order for 1 hour after pickup from restaurant. Food was stone cold.

Good Pizza only the one concern is there is no sign warning people of the step , which nearly caught me out by the restroom sign , before going up the stairs to the toilet

Pizza Stone cold. Not Just-Eat's fault by the looks of it, as the order was in "preparing" for a long time. Not the first time. Wouldn't order from here but the cardboard pizza is the only thing my daughter will have, so here we are.

Such an awful experience. I did my son’s bday party at Pizza Express. I called in advance to ask if I should pre-order as there were 13 kids. The manager said no need to pre order they can quickly serve when we arrive. The food took such a long time to arrive with so many gaps in between. Obviously the kids were getting impatient and all they could do was chit chat among themselves. The staff was making faces every time we ask for something and kept complaining directly to the kids to keep the noise down. The noise wasn’t anything unreasonable. When asked for extra cups, they said we ran out of cups. They made the whole experience so unpleasant for us which was awful esp considering we went there to celebrate a very special occasion. I think this Pizza Express should advertise themselves as Adult only restaurant as they are totally incapable of serving kids.

We were looking for somewhere to have late lunch having travelled into Watford for an appointment. My husband and I had our three year old and newborn with us this afternoon so decided that a pizza express would be a good choice as my son loves our local one in Gerrads cross. On arrival only one of the doors was open so my husband entered with our older son and I had to wait outside with the pram until someone could assist. A few people entering the restaurant asked if I would like help and offered to open the door, however I explained that my husband had gone inside to ask for assistance. He spoke to a waiter who asked if it was okay if we could leave our pram outside (in the middle of a high street!?) A very rude man (looked like the managed/ waiter) came to the door banged a chair down on the floor and unlocked the second door so we could enter. On thanking the man, he responded with a huff and shrugged his shoulders. A waitress showed us to a table at the very back of the restaurant in a corner when there were plenty of unoccupied tables available at the front of the restaurant to the sides (it felt like they they were deliberately being difficult) Whilst watching my husband try to manoeuvre our three year old into a seat I saw the waiter muttering to the waitress and pointed over at the pram. This restaurant seems itself as family friendly, wheelchair and buggy friendly yet I see absolutely no evidence of that! Having seen how the pizza express was run in this town which looked filthy and overcrowded with tables all over the place we are glad that we left of our own accord and shall stick to our usual one where we returned later that day to the best service and wonderful smiles on the waiters/waitresses faces (who were fabulous with our children!) Anyone with young families or very little children STAY CLEAR! Everyone else stay clear if you would like a free smile with your meal.

If you like swarms of fruit flies hovering around you and your food, this is the place to go. When I mentioned it to our server, she said management were aware of the problem, but the flies were hard to get rid of.

Lovely lunch, garlic bread and Pizza Margarita.

Food and drinks were lovely as were the staff . Unfortunately, inundated with small flies which really needs addressing. Hard to enjoy a meal whilst swatting flies!

On Wednesday evening at 930 pm we entered as a family of 3 to be told abruptly we close at 10!! We sat down and looked through the menu and no one came to the table to take our order , not even a drink , we looked to see if we could grab someone’s attention , no one interested , not happy we walked out -thanks for nothing and poor customer service - we will not be using pizza express again that’s for sure

I pay extra for calamari and they were not in the order, very disappointed as one person couldn't eat anything else!!

We didn't have a booking but on a friday afternoon and in a busy Pizza Express we managed to be squeezed in with no hassle! We were served from start to finish by Macy. Macy was super happy, smiley and helpful! She engaged well with all of us including my twin boys who can be big characters - she handled us all really well and nothing was too much trouble! Great customer service and attention to not just our table but others in the section she was serving. We had a really positive experience here today! Thank you

Not at all impressed and felt sorry we chose to lunch here. Met a long lost friend and decided to meet here for lunch but the experience left us hungry and disgusted. The place is unclean, the tables are placed anywhere and anyhow. The table for two just about accommodates a Pizza and there's hardly any room for glasses, drinks and plates. In fact, when the pizza arrived, we had to move around these items to let the pizza sit on the table. The not so friendly waitress thrust the plates in my hands and walked away. The coke I ordered was served at room temperature. ( I did say no ice but I expected it to be served chilled) . The Mixed Salad consisted of a few rocket and spinach leaves with just 3 small pieces of cucumber. The Pizza was served cold and was extremely stiff . It took some effort to knife it. There was absolutely no taste to the Pizza, it was bland, tasteless and very disappointing. No one returned to our table to ask if all was ok. Overall the restaurant lacks ambiance, courtesy, quality of service and quality of food. Hygiene and care is non existent. Seating is not efficient. Sad to see that the Pizza Express brand standards were so badly compromised.

delivery time changed several times. I was a little disappointed when the pizza arrived at its size. pizza itself was really nice just expected a larger size considering it was over £17 for a single pizza order. apart from that the pizza was nice

We were very pleased with the service and our grandchildren always choose Pizza Express when we have them to stay.

Unfortunately we were sitting by the glass recycling bin so we heard a loud clank! Every few minutes -not very pleasant. Can this not be relocated away from the dining area? Very unpleasant. It was a very busy day but that doesn't excuse the timings - we had 2 kids meals and the food took forever! I didn't care about myself but our 2 kids were waiting far too long for their food. It was also a very hot day and we had to wait ages to get a server just to get some water on the table. Our food eventually arrived and quality was fine nothing bad to comment on it - just could have come a bit sooner, i was so hungry I could have eaten anything by the time the food came. Some servers were OK and some clearly need a change of career because every time we asked for anything we were met with a huff or eye rolling which made us feel like we were a nuisance. You try dining on a hot day with 2 kids who are fighting over colouring pencils and let me know what you think. Water in a small glass jug for 5 people needs to be topped up. Rant over.

Went to your Watford branch July 30th "The food here is absolutely delicious! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection". Peter was super welcoming & the service was very good. Would definitely recommend the Watford chain.

I was absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated in Pizza Express this evening. Not only was my pasta under cooked and I politely asked for it to be replaced but to be rudely told to "go and sit down" twice by Barbara the manager when I was seeking assistance to pay my bill. I hadn't even said anything and I was rudely instructed to sit down. Is this what paying customers should expect at Pizza Express nowadays?

Service is atrocious…..warm beer served and i literally had to flag the waitress down to be told “someone else is looking after your table”’, clearly not. Worst PE I’ve had the displeasure of eating in, should have gone to the Stanmore location, where the service is impeccable! I know for next time…..

Sadly disappointed. The manager seemed agitated when we arrived and left us at table which was right by the bins so crashing bottles throughout. Very slow service, waited for at least 15 minutes before anyone asked about a drink. Food was lovely. However the white wine was warm! Had to ask for ice but was really not okay. Not planning to return. 😞

What a hovel. There is zero pride at this restaurant outside of a single employee—our server who was amazing (and the only reason this wasn’t 1 star overall). The food was standard pizza express fare, thus 4 stars. The bathroom was positively disgusting and needs work (see pictures). The rest of the space wasn’t much better. Food was, as stated, fine, however took more than 45 minutes to arrive during a Monday lunch where the restaurant wasn’t more than a third full. Overall, I’m surprised corporate or even the council hasn’t shut this place down for various reasons. I’d highly suggest going anywhere else in town.

Fantastic time here. Came here for some late lunch. Kids had fun. We bought a cake to cut for my daughters birthday. They discounted a dish we also eat there. And we asked if they can make it and the chef did

Best pizza express I’ve been too and all because of the staff, they were simply fantastic! Food was great, but generally always is at a pizza express so nothing unusual there. All staff were friendly & as I was sat next to the kitchen I could see how hard the chefs were working (not sure how they manage that intensity for a 9hr shift!) But particular mention must go to our waitress Georgiana she was super lovey, more than just taking our order she advised on what we might like, continually checked in to make sure we were ok & just generally gave the impression she really cared about our time whilst there. She is a credit to the company :)

Ordered pizza at 7.14pm, pick up was 7.31pm with Jus Eat, but it came only at 8.06pm. It was cold.

Took the family to Pizza Express in Watford after the kids pestered us to go. Unfortunately after waiting 10mins to be seated we left. Staff walked passed us several times, and the chefs could see us clearly waiting, whislt the front of the restaurant was half empty. Extremely disappointed at the lack of service.

We had an interesting experience here on Sunday for Mother’s Day, We used the Mother’s Day deal and the prices were great for a higher end high street restaurant. However, one staff member in particular had a unwelcoming attitude that made us feel very awkward and as though we were in the wrong for being there, but to be fair it was incredibly busy and working in hospitality us elf I can understand that she was probably stressed, the food came in a good amount of time but the kids brownie was quite hard and you couldn’t get a knife through it, but a replacement adults brownie was given in replacement at no extra cost and when we told the other staff about the attitude of this one lady they resolved it straight away and reduced our bill of £57, so overall apart from the service hiccups we had a great time and praise the manager for sorting this out for us in a well executed manner.

Time between pizza conception and finding a driver delayed the delivery as a whole comparing to initial provided time. Pizza quality were very good and yummy even if not a lot of ingredient and smaller than initially thought. Many thanks

Toilet smelt was so bad I nearly was sick. The pizza is like a 99p tesco pizza. Never again.

Now I’m not someone who ever complains or a ‘Karen’ so to speak but this was so apalling and frustrating I have to say something. We should’ve known what myself and my boyfriend were in for when we saw a couple walk out before ordering. We were upstairs with a 3 large table of teens who kept walking around, throwing things. But whatever we weren’t too bothered were very patient people. When we ordered we waited an hour. Yes, an HOUR for x1 dough balls and chicken wings We had only started eating them for 3 minutes when suddenly our mains came out. The woman (purple hair) was incredibly rude when she handed it to us. Also… the pizzas were FREEZING Going to Antarctica for a holiday is probably warmer than the pizzas that were served. We asked two separate members of staff for our water and dips we ordered. When we finally asked a 3rd member of staff she didn’t give us glasses for the water and was never seen on our floor again. We paid on the app and left as soon as, staff were ignoring us as we left, no one asked during our meal how it was. No one said goodbye and thankyou as staff etiquette goes when you leave a restaurant. I understand that it was a Saturday night and probably very stressful and busy. But clearly no communication amongst staff as when we left, staff members by the chef station were clearly having a domestic between eachother (awkward)

Order was cold and delivered about 40 minutes after the initial advised time. Garlic butter wouldn’t melt on the dough balls!

Food is cold, not an ounce of heat coming off it

I ordered and been charged for 2 Peroni 660ml but what’s delivered are two Peroni 330ml. I need refund.

This review should be read with a pinch of salt as Pizza Express Watford service levels vary on how busy they are and who is serving you. On valentines Day, my fiance and I dinned here. We sat upstairs, and the waitress (who is also a school teacher) was amazing from the get-go. She was welcoming, made conversation, and kept checking to see if we needed anything, etc. 5 out of 5 for service. The food from starters to desert was absolutely awesome. Garlic bread, bruchetta, cannelloni, lasagne,cheesecake, all top notch. I have visited this branch on a few occasions and had the same great food, but never this outstanding service. I was in a great mood and boldly asked the waitress to bring me the next customers bill so I can pay it as a suprise. My fiance and I made another couple very happy. Great all-around experience at Pizza Express Watford.

Very rude old purple hair lady, kept saying different times the food would be ready for collection obviously didn't want me there, food was bad too, awful pizza. Also I have still not heard anything back from you but that was expected given the level of service at the watford branch.

TBF Pizza Expresses are normally pretty good and consistent but this one shines a bit brighter because of the warm welcome from Paul and the team - it’s also a lovely building. A star taken off for the P Ex eye watering prices and lack of offers nowadays but enjoyed our visit.

Lovely food, I thoroughly enjoyed the new La Cubana pizza. The main part of the restaurant, located at the back of the premises, is quite dark and lacks atmosphere, would be nice for the evening but it's a bit dreary for the middle of the day. Some extra lighting could help here

Delivery times kept changing over an hour late

Amazing food, amazing service, very kind team.

The chocolate fudge cake, both pieces, were stale and inedible. Also, the two sauce portions I ordered barely covered the bottom of the tiny pot that they came in, they should both be FULL for 75p each you have to pay for them AND, it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I dare to order a sauce from you that I never bother. I shouldn’t have done so knowing this as I have never received a full pot of sauce EVER. I have complained to Just Eat about this and they have refused me a refund because apparently it

Great place with great ambiance. Not too crowded good service. Just the pizza had a really thin crust, but was tasty. Been here before students will have a discount and if you are a premium member you'll get a 50% off on your pizza.

Ordered two specials of gluten-free dough balls and gluten-free pizzas. Received two pizzas but only one box with 5 dough balls. Odd number of dough balls Indicates it was only one portion. Called the restaurant but couldn't get any answer. Left a message and it was ignored. Shame because the food we got and delivery were great.

Waited for an hour after estimated time for my food. Wasn’t assigned a driver for over half an hour, then the driver didn’t get to the restaurant for another 25 minutes. Food arrived cold.
