Pizza Express in Bath and North East Somerset

I'm not sure if Andrea works at this store but I wanted to leave a review to say she is fantastic and a credit to Pizza Express. She worked at this restaurant and dealt with National Pizza Day like a superstar. Dealing with an oversubscribed event and hungry queue! Thanks Andrea!

The only downside of our meal was that it was incredibly noisy. The food was lovely

Probably the best Pizza Express restaurant I visited in the UK - had a great lunch here with very friendly, efficient service.

The Gluten Free pizza is very good. Highly recommended for people with Celiac disease or gluten intolerant. And the attention of the staff is most cordial.

Pizza Express was quick, decent food and decent service. I can be a picky eater and struggled a little to find something on the menu that I liked, but the lasagna was unlike any I've ever had and I enjoyed it!

Great meal out, Staff worked really hard to ensure I was looked after. Only disappointed either the offers on the desserts - bring a celiac meant the choices were very limited.

The restaurant was clearly busy due to half term and their “kids eat free” offer but the food was as good as we expect every time from any Pizza Express. We’ve been served by Andreea the last two times we’ve been and she’s been absolutely brilliant both times. Friendly, efficient and always making sure we’re making the most of the app. She’s also been very patient as we have to loud kids. We’ve enjoyed it every time we’ve come.

We visited this branch of Pizza Express before our show at The Theatre Royal. We had booked which was fortunate as it was full. There was a nice atmosphere and the staff were super helpful. We are Loyalty Card members and made use of a second classic pizza for £1. Both of our pizzas were perfectly cooked and tasted great.

Excellent food, cheerful staff and they fit me in despite being full and 'booking only' sign at the door. So why only four stars? Only let down by the cup of earl grey tea. We have become a nation of coffee drinkers and people have forgotten how to properly brew tea with boiling water. I got a cup of hot water and a tea bag in the saucer. Shame on you, you spoiled an otherwise faultless visit.

The pizza was burnt. I can share pictures if needed. I at it, I am not asking for a refund or any thing, but the Pizza was defenitely burnt and it had very little mushrooms (as against what was mentioned on the description).

The dining experience was thoroughly unpleasant from start to finish. Upon arriving, we were greeted, and he was actually nice, but after that everything started to become unpleasent. Once we were shown to our table, the waitstaff seemed wholly disinterested in providing any semblance of decent customer service. They took our order with evident annoyance just walking over to our table and expecting ud to know what their there for. A simple "Are you ready to order" would've been nice, it could have also been nice to ask if there were any allergies as the person I was with had some, but we were not asked. The food arrived in a timely manner and decently well heated, but that was the lone a bright spot of the meal. The pizzas (American + Margeritta *with mushrooms*) were swimming in an excessive amount of thick amounts of cheese and sauce, completely overpowering any other flavours. It was as if the kitchen staff had simply ladled on as much of those components as physically possible, with no regard for balance or proportion. To make matters worse, the waiters were extremely unhelpful, including rushing us. As soon as we finished a course, seconds later, she'd come over to grab the plates. It wasn't even busy. By the time we finally decided to cut our losses and leave, we were both in a foul mood, our appetite ruined by the subpar food and terrible service. It was hands down one of the most unpleasant dining experiences any of us had ever endured. Wouldn't recommend.

food and drink was great but I didn't check the bill properly until later and found I had been charged full price for two classic Pizzas, despite them being advertised as being £8.95 on Mon-Thu for pizza club members. I feel ripped off and this has spoilt what was an otherwise lovely evening.

Shocking service… our order arrived nearly two hours late and wasn’t edible by the time it arrived!

Tried going to both the outlets in bath, but didn’t expect the waiters would have the same attitude and wouldn’t even acknowledge the customers waiting at the wait to be seated sign for more than 5 min, even though many waiters walked past us. Very ill prepared for on obvious bank holiday weekend and out of food by 8pm .

Horrible waiters. Spent nearly 10 mins stood waiting for a seat which just had to be cleaned in 2 seconds. Spent the 10 mins looking for another restaurant.

Nothing special about the atmosphere but all the rest was great! Including the price we paid for the food we had. We went for a lunch, when Andreea and Geoff attended and served us with availability, professionalism and with a friendly approach!

Unfortunately one of the worst Pizza Express’ I’ve been to. The upstairs was cramped and we kept noticing a nasty sewage/damp like smell. When I went downstairs to use the toilet, I realise why. The whole downstairs smelt damp and strange. The toilets were dirty and smelly too. According to my partner, the men’s toilets were some of the worst he has ever seen.

Service great. Even on busy days. Food of good standard.

We were standing at the reception with a sign „please wait here to be seated“ for like 5 minutes, and so many waiters passing by ignored us. When we finally grab a person and asked can we just sit anywhere, the person said it’s all booked. They could have done better than ignoring the customers

The service was good seeing they seemed understaffed. Pity about the pizza it wasn't good at all and for the money very disappointing.

In a city of great independent restaurants and pizza places, this one clearly trades on its brand and location. It's good, but there's better to be had in Bath if you look around. However, the food is good. And no-one does better dough balls, that's for sure! Staff are, as you'd expect, friendly and professional. Decent.

we had been to the theatre and went to this pizza express after , so pleased we did , our table was waiting when we arrived , the restaurant was really busy and having to turn people away . Once at our table Kyle served us , a really pleasant and easy going lad who made us feel pleased to be there , the food was excellent as always and the service during our meal by Harry was most welcome . All in all a great experience with a special mention for Kyle and Harry who made our visit a pleasant experience , we will definitely return when in Bath again

The worst Pizza Express experience- really should have checked the reviews! Took ages - on a quiet night Tuesday night to take our order. Had to send the starter back as just warm and the second starter which we’d forgotten about arrived after the pizza. Never had a bad Pizza express experience before!

I have not been here for years, in fact the last time I heard the name the Company was going bust. Anyway we popped in for lunch. Two pizzas ordered, old favourite for me...Sloppy Giuseppe, and La Reine for my girlfriend. Mistake made, pizzas ordered with Romana base, larger than Classic, but crispy. Pizzas served with pizza wheel cutting tool, useless. Had to turn the knife into a hack saw to tackle the base, not satisfactory, we should have stuck to the originals! Pleasant waitress, only three tables occupied for a Tuesday lunch. 1 x small sparkling water, 1 x large Peroni + 1 x large white wine, £56. Pizza almost impossible to eat, but tasty. I will try again one more time!

Ordered at 6.45 came at 21.47 we are going to be demanding a refund. Restaurant was uncontactable and just eat driver wouldn’t take it back. Didn’t eat

Excellent pizza…still lovely & hot and super tasty!!

The manager was unbelievably sour and unfriendly (evening of 17th March), not a smile or any helpful interaction of any kind even though she could clearly see people were waiting and trying to get staff attention, nobody came to ask if we had a table booked for 10 minutes after we arrived (we had to call someone in the end as everyone simply walked past the queue at the door) so we were stood waiting by the door along with many other people. They had massively overbooked themselves and were completely full yet clearly couldn't manage that capacity. We had a theatre to get to and ended up having to stuff our food in in 10 minutes to make it on time, as we waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive. We had allowed 1 hour and 15 minutes for dinner which should be plenty in a pizzeria. 20 minutes after we had (finally) placed our food order the waiter came over and told us he had only just been informed by the kitchen that a key ingredient in 2 of our dishes was missing - they hadn't bothered telling him when he put the order through, but waited until he checked on our food with them. Result was that the table was booked for 6.15 but food only arrived at 7 and we had to leave at 7.15. Nobody brought the bill either when we asked. Absolute shambles. The young waiters were nice enough but SO unskilled. Basic function of a manager is to TRAIN STAFF and check their restaurant is running smoothly - this does not seem to happen anywhere anymore. Terrible and frustrating experience, we are locals and won't return.

I have to give this 5* for its friendliness & inventive solution to a problem. We booked on a very busy Saturday evening over half term & it was packed. A carafe of tap water arrived as soon as we were seated & the order was taken soon after. Wine arrived very promptly, but we waited a long time for our pizzas. When I chased them up I was told my gluten free was frozen & took longer (which I have never come across in my local branch). When it did arrive I had two child's size pizzas side by side on the black board! Both our pizzas were delicious & the two sweets. Our waiter was run off his feet & clearly supervising younger staff too, but he always had a smile & was unflusterable. To cap it they even accepted Tesco vouchers on a Saturday at half term!

Food was lovely but service was very, very slow, took 15 mins to be seated, 30 mins to get drinks and food ordered. Then the mains come out before the starters so just had all the food on the table at once! Can’t say it was the best experience I’ve had in a pizza express, more staff are definitely needed, especially for a Saturday night only having 2 waiters/waitresses for the whole restaurant!

Absolutely appalling. 40 minutes before we even got our drinks. Our pizzas were sent to the wrong table, and had started to be cut before it was taken off them and brought to us... should have made us fresh pizzas and started again. It is quite clear the staff/managers are unable to cope with a busy lunchtime shift. In hindsight we should have got up and left before spending any money

The only good waiter was the man with a bun who was the only service we got and the waiting time was about an hour just for starters. Then the staff were very rude (swearing) won’t be going back. The only good part was the amazing man who we didn’t have his name but was very helpfull (man bun, jeans, shirt)

Staff were hostile and rude from the so called greeting at the door. Errors were made with food Inc items that were specifically stated as allergy. Pizza arrived stone cold, honestly didn’t bother complaining just wanted to leave. Don’t bother wasting your time going.

We went with my dad for a quick lunch. The store was empty due to the time of the day but the customer service was just amazing!!! Really good food, tasty and properly made. I would definitely recommend going for the pasta dishes!!

Hadn't had Pizza Express for a while as I built my own oven at home. I'd forgotten how good it was.

The Food was scheduled for delivery at 19:05. The Food was delivered at 20:07. The Delivery Driver was great. Not his fault. He was stuck waiting at the Restaurant. Also, there was virtually no salad dressing for the salad. I had to use my own.

It was like a comedy show how bad the service was here... I've always used the caterham pizza express and they've always been great. This was next level... An hr wait for food Warm lager Large peroni poured in with a head of a bout 6 inches and thats being seriously generous... Massive attitude with the waitress... (I'd usually not moan about that as you never know what someone might be going through outside of the workplace) but wow it was like we'd done something to really hack her off... There's another Pizza Express in Bath. I'll give that a go next time

Arrived late and cold, 1 hour 50 minutes after ordering, over an hour after the drive was "at the restaurant"

I had a fantastic dining experience at the local pizzeria. The pizza was delicious with a perfect crust, fresh ingredients, and a variety of toppings. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff provided friendly service. I highly recommend trying their pizzas!

Made a booking for a birthday treat with young children. Turned away, “booking system wasn’t working” despite being able to see lots of empty tables.

There are two Pizza Express in Bath. Many people confused. We did, too. When we realised we went to the other one on time, we call the restaurant we would be late. No answer. We left a message. When we got there, a lady with black hair told us our table were given to others in very aggressive way. We told her we left a message, she said "we are busy!" Later we were given a table and she said "you should leave in one hour!" even the restaurant was half empty after one hour. We go to Pizza Express often but this time we did not leave any tip. She was so rude!

Had an amazing time out in Bath Pizza Express. Got a warm welcome and the waiter was extremely nice, service was great and the food didn’t take long and tasted amazing, would 100% recommend to anyone who is looking for somewhere to eat out!

4 family members went for Xmas shopping and a birthday treat . Decided to pop in for lunch , ordered a meal each . When served our meals we were then informed that 2 of them were no longer available. This left two people without a meal and then told to order something else from the menu, meaning two eating , two waiting. The waiter walked off leaving his colleague to apologise to us , but the meal was ruined . I would have expected the waiter to have informed us at the time of ordering and not when food was served. Very disappointed.

Well, where do I start? Went in during the evening of 3rd December 23. Table for 2. Male server was very polite, ordered drinks and starter. Family of four (2 young children) stated they hadn't been told of the 40 minute wait, and left. We waited for some time, and got a garlic bread starter. This was very poorly made and so small with a blob of cheese on the top. Another couple had doughballs delivered, and sent them back for some reason. Their mains arrived before the doughballs had been sorted. With that, I spoke to a female who I believed to be the shift manager. I told her the garlic bread was poor and I wasn't prepared to wait any longer (over 45 mins by this time). I offered to pay for my drinks but she refused and said they were complimentary: in view of the poor service I assumed. The staff were obviously up against it, so many customers, but it seemed too few staff. It seems to be becoming the norm in this country that companies operate with as little staff as possible in order to maximise profits. Very disappointed to say the least.

The food was brilliant but the service was slow. We were sat for ages before someone came over to take our order. The food was lovely and was ready quickly but after the food was delivered we were forgotten about. We had to get up and find someone to get the bill and then get up once again to find someone to pay. It might have just been a short staff situation but I would choose somewhere else to eat unless you are happy to wait for ages for service.

All food cold, one main meal missing and half starters missing.

Estimated delivery time when I placed the order was about 40 minutes. It actually took over 2 and a half hours to arrive. This is not the first time. I don’t think it’s a problem with the restaurant, I think it’s Just Eat giving bad estimates to make more sales. Food arrived cold too.

We had a student discount but it was refused. I asked why and they gave a vague response about the Christmas market being on. I read the terms and conditions and nowhere does it state that certain events such as a market affects the discount. I think they couldn’t be bothered to reprint the bill. Won’t be eating here again as we only came here after seeing a good deal. Food was great but was left with a sour taste.

Shockingly bad service and stone cold pizzas. I was told we would be refunded as we didn't want the cold pizza and were too busy to make fresh ones. It's been over a week and we still haven't had my £30+ refund.

Order didn’t arrive after marked delivered on the app. Restaurant didn’t answer the phone after phoning consistently for 20 mins after! We had an issue previously where only half the food was delivered so we had a whole meal missing but usually no problems. Sucks to be £40 down and no food!

Service was really rude Really bad experience unfortunately. We were given a table outside, even If all table inside were empty. The waitresses said all table were reserved but no one showed up for the all time we were there. When I asked what time the tables were reserved from, they didn’t even reply. We were left outside freezing and waited our food and drinks for at least 1 hour. Choose well before sitting there!

The waiter hurried us and told us they didn’t have the ingredients to add on top of pizzas but when we asked someone else they did (showed laziness and a lack of care). Got all of our orders wrong and overall was a negative experience with rude service. Will not be back.

Where is my order ??? Just got the just eat app left very clear instructions of where I live and yet no food !!! And …after waiting 2 and a half hours ,it’s now saying it’s been delivered,no one has buzzed my door I’ve checked the communal hall way in block of flat and just nothing??what kind of service is this !!

Nicht nur Pizza! Aber natürlich stehen vor allem verschiedene Pizzas auf der Speisekarte - ist ja schliesslich der Pizza Express. Es gibt aber auch andere italienische Klassiker wie Lasagne und Gnocchi. Mit feinen Vorspeisen und/oder einem Salat wird der Hauptgang zu einer vollen Mahlzeit zu dennoch moderatem Preis abgerundet. Wenn Sie nicht zu Stosszeiten dort sind, nimmt sich das Personal auch gerne Zeit für einen Schwatz. Wir wurden rasch und freundlich bedient.

The food and service were great, very accommodating!, even with an awkward app discount thing, but a chipped grease covered glass for water is basic no no. Also the air con was on and it was a tad chilly one set of diners moved, then where they moved to was even colder so they left the restaurant. I would eat here again because it was delicious but the few things I mentioned jaded it.

Awful customer service, unable to contact the branch itself or no one was answering the phone. Wanted to pre order food to ensure our birthday party meal ran on time for parents collecting. I arrived an hour early to ask if I could leave cake at the venue and pre order the food as was unable to this in advance despite leaving x3 voicemails and sending emails. Lady who I spoke with was so rude and it was clear she was inconvenienced by my visit and requests. The food for the kids was good however and the guy who served us was friendly with the children.

My expectations at tonight’s dinner were exceeded immensely mainly due to the care and attention we received from Mario. Great service, very personable and he even had some late night bar suggestions for us once we had done. Our food was freshly cooked and the pizzas super tasty! An excellent experience all round.
