Bog standard 'chain' restaurant food. Staff lovely though

Booked a table for 6:30pm there was only one other table taken so obviously no atmosphere. The service was very poor at one point there was only the chef about. Maybe this is why there are no customers !

Excellent food and excellent service

It's been 6 years since we have been to Pizza Express. We were regulars before the whole lockdown happened. After talking about it we decided to head up as we were big fans pre lockdown. Overall? It was "ok" We usually always had the leggera Padana so chose to re-live past visits and ordered these. Well, the portions have shrunk a fair bit, they are way more frugal with the toppings and the salad used to be mixed salad, it is now just leaves and sauce. Sadly our last visit I think, it's not worth the price increase for a reduced product.

Great pizza and service was great. We had 4 kids with us, plenty of colouring material, great kids menu, high chair. Will definitely go back

We love this Pizza Express (Preston). The staff and manager are super friendly and always ensure we are looked after. Visited tonight, lovely atmosphere with candlelight, music and Christmas parties. Service and food fantastic, we waited for nothing as staff always on hand. Would highly recommend as this branch never lets us down. Thank you

Called in mid afternoon on a Saturday, the place was fairly quiet. Order was promptly taken, and pizza arrived shortly after. We liked the options to customise our pizza, as some in our party prefer vegetarian /plant based. Pizza was really good, thin and crispy base. Will definitely eat here again.

The food was delicious. The service we got was excellent. Hannah and Joanna were very good and helpful. They explained the menu . Nothing was too much trouble. Very enjoyable experience. Will definitely be back .

Went for my daughter’s 12th Birthday as a family of 4. We visit Pizza Express a lot including this one before but this time the food quality was the best ever. It was all lovely and fresh, piping hot and tasted awesome. I had the Calabrese as I always do, also the new Nduja Dough Balls were great. Our waitress was lovely (didn’t catch her name tho) Overall a great family meal had thanks

Hannah who served us was such a delight, she was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make us comfortable using the app, going through the new items on the menu and bringing out the cake for our friend on such a lovely decorated slate. It makes the dining experience much more enjoyable when the waiter serving you is as helpful as Hannah was. Highly recommend. Great food at reasonable price. Outstanding customer service

We were in the area and decided to stop here for something to eat. The place was very quiet maybe one or two tables with people on. When we walked in all the staff were standing together and gave us a weird look and one of them kept staring at us in an unfriendly manner. We were shown to a table. We ordered drinks and food which I had the 'duo romana' which I chose 'padana' for one half and the other half 'sloppy giuseppe'. The pizza took a little longer to arrive than you would expect from an empty place. The pizza wasn't overly the best and not to the standard for this chain and had from other branch's. The pizza was thinner than a crepe and soggy so you couldn't pick it up. The other food we had was also very poor and not to standard. The staff were relatively friendly but their attitude could have been better. Overall the food isn't up to the chains standard. The place seemed clean, location is good. There might be better places to eat nearby

We as usual ordered Romano pizzas, kid 3course meal, pint of perroni and apple juice. We found out their Romano pizza dough were super thin and unlikely baked baked like other store. It was soft bottom but a lot ingredients filling. It lost the essence of pizza because you hardly had a base to eat but just like a soft pancake. Went on a Friday. Very busy and so quite loud. Kids loved the pizza, but overpriced for what it is. Lasagne was tasty.

That was the worst pizza a ever ordered. Came all rolled up in the box, i regret that i didnt done a pic of that. Base was soo tin like paper you could see through it, had absolutely no taste.The other pizza on half on it had only sos nothing else and for that we payed nearly £30

Came here with my family and everything was perfect

I'm glad we've been so we now know not to go again. Apart from a very helpful waitress the whole culinary experience was very poor in quality, and in, over pricing of mass produced mediocre food. We were looking forward to taking our grandchildren here despite the negative reviews. I will take more notice next time.

Very quiet so lacked atmosphere. Food was as expected and we were offered pizza boxes to take away our leftovers. Really disappointed that we paid for two dips that we’d barely touched but the waitress just took them away and didn’t offer to put them into takeaway dishes for us. I think this should be something they offer

The best Pizza Express I've visited. Have been to many different branches and this is the only one where I've never been let down. Good always cooked perfectly and the staff friendly.

Typical Pizza Express restaurant. Fast & efficient service, nice food, but very noisy. The noise issue has been encountered at other restaurants in the chain, makes the visit a little frustrating.

Me, my sister , my stepmum and my dad decided it would be nice to go out for a meal , and pizza express is always a good option to choose as their food is amazing! The dough balls especially stood out , they tasted great. Also , the service was very quick so -unlike other restaurants- your not waiting hours when your starving 😂

Making use of the offer of £8.95 for a classic pizza and the offer from a previous visit of free doughballs. Had the vegan Gardiera and 2 glasses of vegan wine, followed by the vegan ginger cake. I couldn't have eaten any more. Friendly staff, okay for dining alone, nice atmosphere.

Lovely people helped me when I nearly passed out ( thanks Lisa ) and then provided me with scrumptious Pizza and chicken wings( take away ) that stayed lovely and hot for picnic on park ! Def will go again x Give it a try

My children really love pizza express, but I must say it was clearly noticeable that the size of everything was way less than it used to be, the Dough balls were very small and pizza super thin. So overall not good value for money 💰😞.

You generally know Pizza Express is going to be good when it’s in an old building. This one, in Preston, was no exception. Located down a side street off the main road, just past Sainsbury, this is a nice, bright branch. First customer of the day, always good. Lady serving was friendly and quick. Good table. Right by the window, not on a path. The usual food; the classic doughballs and a Romana funghi di bosco. All well cooked; good amount of butter with the doughballs. You like to see it and here I did. Toilets are in the Gods. A bit of a trek. Good exercise though… Would definitely come to this one again. Well done.

I’m a regular in Pizza Expresses in London, but this was my first in Preston. Nice place, nice people! Hannah was very friendly and efficient.

A little bland and overpriced, especially when the local Nonna Lucia at Ships and Giggles is easily accessible and much better quality.

Just had possibly the worse food at PizzaExpress Preston. I can only describe the food as slop! This was the lasagne, it’s was 3cms deep and had purée mince meat in it! Non of the kids could finish their food, management unaware of how to run a restaurant and to pretend not to know we had issues, no chefs just kids making “Italian slop” honestly don’t bother if you enjoy good food! Go next door to a proper Italian! #neveragain!

Had the misfortune to go here tonight with the kids! The food was over priced slop! The manager needs to read the “manager manual” and understand customer service! The lady who served us didn’t listen to us and our order and messed up not just the starters but the mains too, kid got there meal after had finished our mains!

Staff didn’t know where our reservation was despite calling to confirm the same. Staff were stood chatting in the corner instead of taking our order. Dough balls arrived burnt underneath and merged together as per photos. Had to have pizza swapped as cheese was randomly splodged on and other parts left with just tomato. Second pizza arrived more of an oblong shape. Doesn’t appear they care about presentation as much as they should. Can’t see ourselves returning.

Enticed me to dine at their Hale restaurant by emailing an offer - staff knew nothing of it and wouldn’t honour it - absolute shambles - manager didn’t speak to us - left it to a very pleasant young staff member - if management can’t advise their staff of offers they’re making I fear this will be a constant issue - feel as if I’ve been ripped off

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. My wife found the vegan options plentiful also. From starters through dessert, just yummy all the way around. The service was excellent too.

Not been for years and got to say food and drinks where great. Duo Pizza was brilliant as couldn’t decide on what toppings.

Love that I can get gluten free pizzas from here! They taste amazing and are the best I have found that are closest to the real thing (diagnosed 2 yrs ago with celiac). They always take care to double check with me. Do think it would be worth them doing some sort of loyalty card both in restaurant and on deliveroo website so can order more often , like a rewards scheme! As can be pricey regarding takeaway.

Pizza express hardly disappoints you. Fodd was good but not great on some expects.. both vegan n veg pizza were great, but gluten free was bit let down

Came here for a birthday meal, food was too notch honestly but portion sizes could be a little bigger for what you pay however I do understand you also pay for the name. Service was slow in between courses but it was a Saturday evening and very busy, they did forget one person's order but did rectify it by not charging for it in the end.

I use this place to have a quick meal between trains- so probably not typical. I like it because I can have a quick pizza and beer, pay the bill when the food comes and be done in 45 minutes. Always good service, vegetarian and vegan options good.

Can be hit and miss with delivery, something missing or just not as nice, but whenever we eat in its all perfect and delicious, so definitely eat in if you can!

Lunchtime walk in with family. Warm welcome and attentive service from James. Excellent half-and-half American Hot/Burnt Ends pizza and a carbonara. Highly recommended.

Not been to Pizza Express for years, but after a visit to Preston we stopped in for a early dinner. The waiter was very attentive, food was delicious and we had a lovely time. Very big place extremely clean.

Paid £34 for a 9 inch and 12 inch pizza no cheese on pizza,s stone cold when it come it was late by 30 mind so I rang up and a women answers and had a really bad attitude never again will I order from here absolute rubbish

So bad!! Crispy dry pizza with no topping. Really stingy amounts of toppings. Poor quality food, certainly not value for money.

Fab experience; wonderful hospitality; outstanding service; delicious food! All staff did a super job, but the team member who really stood out for us and deserves recognition was James. James was busy preparing drinks, however, he acknowledged myself and my young grandson as soon as we walked through the door, welcoming us and pointing out where we could sit. Very attentive throughout our stay. We ordered the Chimichurri Dough Balls a Romana Spicy Guiseppi Pizza, including soft drinks. Thanks for a fab experience, we can't wait to do it all over again!

Hard to judge this place. Made a booking, as it was Saturday night, but the restaurant was very quiet. I think we could have got seated as a walk up. Obviously that meant we were served very quickly, but the restaurant lacked some atmosphere. Food was good and tasty, a good informal meal.

Please don't buy from this place. The pizza is not even baked, brownie with chocolate sauce is hilarious, it's just a brownie chunks from tesco. I was laughing more than getting frustrated. Just close the business and do something else. Again I bought through uber eats (another fraud). Lesson learnt is, never buy from a restaurant who doesn't specify full ingredients/ specs. Just assume, they are fraud and move on!!!

30 quid for RAW 2 9inch pizzas and a garlic bread with cheese 7 quid for a piece of bread with cheese on it no garlic wow or wow I sell real pizza no threat here food 1/10 not even cooked 30 quid we live and learn Asian pizzas are better that’s how bad these are good luck robbing people hard earn money

We visited last week without a reservation and were warmly welcomed and seated immediately, all of our food was delicious and served quickly and the environment was relaxing for all our family-ages ranging from 7-76! Thank you to the manager Lisa for arranging cake and candles for our double birthday celebrations and Rebecca for her excellent service!

Came here on my birthday to be served burnt pasta over 20 minutes after my partners meal came out.... I wasn't going to write a review on here because after all the issues we had the manager in charge that night said he would contact the manager and get back to us because of how poor the service was we received...yet we never had a reply! The restaurant wasn't particularly busy when we arrived and the waitress was lovely, she actually kept apologising throughout due to the poor service of food. We ordered our food and my Partners came out and then I waited and waited for mine to arrive...the waitress asked the chef (and apologised and told us we would noy have to pay for the meal due to the amount of wait) and he said would be few minutes, 20 minutes after my partners came out I watched the chef scrape the burnt sauce of the bottom of the pan onto the plate and then it was served to me....had black burnt bits within the sauce and the pasta was really overcooked...now if it had arrived at same time as my partners we probably would not of complained, just would not of returned. We did mention to the manager of the night about the poor food and fact it was burnt and waiting over 20 minutes for it to arrive (he went to speak to waitress) and then came back and asked for our name and number and said he would speak to the manager about us being able to return to try the restaurant again and also reduce the bill slightly. We was happy with this and paid the bill. Thing is we never received a call from the manager nor have we been asked to return.....such poor management!

Really is this a £12 salad totally taking the proverbial ,why take the P!!!s,how can you justify charging that amount of money for 6 olives ,some spinach and 4 potatoes ,sorry correct me 4 half potatoes.We will never ever visit you again

It's probably a good couple of years since I've been to the Pizza Express in Preston. It wasn't too busy although the Restaurant itself was rather noisy because the building seemed rather echoey. The pizzas (one Romana and one Gluten Free) which myself and my Wife ordered were both very good. My Wife ordered her pizza with extra cheese- I can see why, as my pizza was rather lacking in both cheese and tomato base sauce- however, I'm very fussy with pizza bases and thought that the Romana base was brilliant. My only other criticism would be the very inconsistent service. The lady who greeted us and later took our order was very friendly and also very helpful when advising us on allergies. We were both very impressed with her level of service. Sadly her colleague who took over (I think she was the Manager on duty as she didn't have the same uniform on) serving us part way through the meal wasn't anywhere near as attentive or friendly, never smiled and seemed very bored. I'd certainly give Pizza Express another go though.

First and foremost the staff are great-very helpful and friendly. We were attempting to use the app tonight in order to make some savings and as we were pretty hopeless in using it they were extremely patient with us! Our dough balls, Romana pizzas and also the wine were delicious. We will most certainly be back. Thank you.

Been to Pizza Express twice this week; the first time we had the calzones which are normally great but we both agreed that they were not that tasty and all of the filling was in half while the other half was empty. Today we had Romana pizzas which were great. The sundaes were delicious too, especially the lotus one.

The food and service were excellent!! We sat outside as it was a sunny day - we shared a starter of chicken wings which were tasty. My hubby had a vegan pizza which he enjoyed. My prosciutto salad was a good size and tasty. Reasonable price - would definitely return.

You know what... Even after all these years... Pizza Express in Preston is still providing the best quality Pizza's and I've never had a bad experience there. I put this down to the fact that Lisa the Manager has been there since I moved to Preston in 1998 and runs the place brilliantly. Always welcoming and fun, great service and Lisa's staff are always attentive - plus the foods great! Burnt Ends Pizza!!! I mean seriously! DELICIOUS!!! What's not to love! Plus the restaurants in a really lovely part of Preston which enhances the overall experience. LOVE IT!

Ordered the new duck pizza... I'll save you £15 here, don't bother. Paid on the Pizza Express App but was still pounced on by staff at the door with the one nearest the door shouting "have they paid" at top volume. Highest profit margin of any food retailer and it shows.

Tasty pizza and not expensive. Delicious sundae dessert. Free drink and good offer on pizza.

Good food... Choice of Italian cuisine... Little expensive

Food was decent but overpriced and took a while to arrive in an almost empty shop. Alright quality, tasted fine, but could do just as well or better at most pizza places. Drinks are way too expensive. Cost £31 for one drink, two very small sides and their cheapest duck pizza. Would do 2.5* but I'll be nice and round it up because at least the service was decent ;)

Always enjoy going to Pizza Express in Preston, I was there on Friday and even though it was busy the staff were excellent, they worked so hard to give us the best service! The food is 10/10
